Kevin grew up in Minnesota and began writing music almost as soon as he learned the first notes and chords. He studied at the University of Minnesota, where he received a bachelor of music degree in theory and composition, and after graduation went to California, where he studied for another year at the University of Southern California, after which he began to reinforce his knowledge with practice.
Already quite soon Mantei wrote additional music for TV series and television films, including Buffy, the Vampire Slayer, collaborated with composer Marco Beltrami, tried himself in writing music for video games.
To date, his list of works includes more than seventy different projects in a variety of genres, and regardless of whether it is a comedy or a thriller, Kevin strives to find music that conveys what is happening on the screen as accurately as possible.
