Born in New York City on March 28, 1934, he first performed on Broadway when he was 4 years old, and the show made an unforgettable impression on him. Since childhood, he was fascinated by film archives and explored those that were kept in the Museum of Modern Art, as well as in other places.
Kruger worked for many years on Broadway, in one way or another participating in various productions. As a music consultant, he participated in the shooting of several films, including the films “Lady in Red” (1979) and “Always” (1985).
In 1972, he founded the American Musical Institute, whose collection of documents on the subject of musicals today is much more extensive than that stored in the Library of Congress.
