Successful journalist, desperate party-maker, ladies' man and editor-in-chief of Elle magazine Jean-Dominique Bobi was only 43 when he was struck by a stroke, turning a cheerful, cheerful, active person into... a vegetable. Much later, doctors determined that in the body, turned into a tight suit, still lives mind. Trembling, fragile, just like a butterfly.
The thirst for life of a paralyzed, completely desensitized, who lost almost a third of his weight, Jean-Dominique was so strong that the disease beyond the control of the art of doctors receded: with the help of a devoted secretary, he was able to write a book. More precisely, he managed to find the strength to blink hundreds of thousands of times on one or another letter shown to him, which the girl wrote down, adding to words and sentences. The willpower of man was so powerful that the book “The suit and the butterfly” (“Le Scaphandre et le Papillon”) was published six months after the beginning of work on it. It was then translated into all European languages. And filmed (director Julian Schnabel), having received all imaginable film prizes.
