Soviet cinema operator Anatoly Karpukhin is a recognized master of his craft, a man who worked with many famous directors and actors in the USSR.
He was born in Ryazan in 1925 on May 6. He began to work as an operator since the mid-1950s, after he graduated from VGIK, where he gained skills from a prominent Soviet operator Alexander Galperin. Among his first works as a production operator is the comedy “Sharf of the Beloved”, released at the Odessa Film Studio. Later, Karpukhin worked both at this film studio and at the central television, also a large period of his activity is associated with the film studio Turkmenfilm.
One of the most successful films of his career was
"Decisive step" , a revolutionary and romantic drama of 1966, for which the operator as part of the film crew was awarded the State Prize.
In the track record of his works there are several directorial, as well as acting, in particular, he directed the film “Officer’s Waltz” and appeared as an actor in the film “Bastion”, on which he worked as an operator.
