From 1983 to 1987, many of her works are published, among which - "Sonya", "Hunting for the Mammoth", "Fire and Dust", "Fire of Heaven", etc. Tolstoy's creations were perceived ambiguously. Critics claimed that one sitting does not read much, and also reproached the “density” of the syllable. Even those who welcomed her work said that she writes one template.
For a long time Tolstoy lived in the United States, where he left in 1990. There she taught at Skidmore College and Princeton. At the same time, Tatiana lectured at various universities and collaborated with journals. Since 1991, the writer has tried herself in journalism, leading her own column in Moscow News. But she also publishes books such as Sisters, River Okkerville, and You Love, You Don't. And only in 1999 she returned to Russia.
Tolstoy’s first novel “Kys” was published in 2000. It became very popular and caused a lot of reactions. In the same year, the books “Day”, “Night”, and “Two” were released. This was followed by her participation in such television projects as "Basic Instinct", "School of Backbiting" and "Minute of Fame". The writer received the TEFI award, as well as the prize of the XX International Economic Forum.
