Frank Patrick Herbert was born on August 10, 1920 in Tacoma, Washington. Graduated from Seattle University of Washington. After graduation, he worked as an editor and journalist for several periodicals on the West Coast. For a time he taught at the university and was an environmental consultant at the Lincoln Foundation. He served in Vietnam and Pakistan.
As a child, Frank loved to read. His favorite writers were Jules Verne, Herbert Wells and Edgar Burroughs. Once at a festive table, which was dedicated to his eight years, Frank announced that he would become a writer. That's what happened in his life.
His first story appeared in an American magazine in 1952, when the writer was 32 years old. Throughout the 50s, Herbert published in various magazines with different stories and one novel, The Dragon at Sea. Wide popularity and worldwide recognition the writer receives after the publication of the novel “Dune World” in 1963, which becomes the first part of the novel “Dune”. Later, two years later, the work received prestigious awards in the field of fantastic literature “Hugo” and “Nebula”.
The writer’s Peru belongs to such works as “Pandora’s Box”, “The Creators of Heaven”, “The Soulcatcher” and many others. Herbert wrote several works in collaboration with other authors. So, in collaboration with Bill Ransom, the novels The Lazarus Effect and The Jesus Incident were written. His most recent work is the novel “Man of two worlds”, which was co-written with his eldest son Brian.
Frank Herbert was married three times. He has a daughter and two sons.
Frank Herbert died on February 11, 1986 at the age of 65, leaving behind a great artistic legacy.
