Born September 13, 1962 in Leningrad in the family of a sailor. He studied at the architectural department of the Leningrad Construction Institute (he did not graduate), then at the puppet faculty of LGITMIK (he did not graduate), and then there-on acting (he graduated from the course of J. Khamarmer in 1985). For six months he served as an actor in the Pskov Drama Theater named after A.S. Pushkin, after which he returned to Leningrad, roamed through studio theaters ("Mask", Studio-87), for a long time he worked not as a specialty-guard in the Summer Garden, a fireman in the Theater Museum, a handyman in the circus, a guide, a janitor.
In 1989, in the room of the red corner on the Petrograd side, he organized the theater “Mansion”, gathering actors of a similar fate. The name symbolized not the peculiarity of the theatrical premises, but the way of existence and self-perception of the participants of the new enterprise - a separate one from the main theatrical process. Here, Larin staged the performances The Sound of Death, or A Dream of a Cherry Orchard according to A. Chekhov, the midrama The Temptation of St. Jerome by I. Bosch and P. Bruegel, The Darkness of Crime and Punishment by F. Dostoevsky, Les A. Ostrovsky, the dramatic ballet Petrushka to the music of A. Schnittke.
In parallel with the Larin Mansion, a theater "Monplaisir" is created, where one after another his solo performances My first friend on the book by I. Pushchin Notes on Pushkin and Pushkin's poems (1989), I am bored, the demon according to A. Pushkin (1990), Vertinsky are released. Confession of the Baron by A. Vertinsky (1991), Eugene Onegin. Drawings in the fields of A. Pushkin (1992), The Miserable Knight of Pushkin (1994), Buratino. A big life, a fairy tale for adults by A.N. Tolstoy and songs of the 1930-1940s, dedicated to P.M. Aleynikov (1995). About the early performances "Monplezier" their creator says: "... the monotheater is madness, self-insanity - purely St. Petersburg state of mind." Having left the theater “Mansion” in 1995, Larin in “Monplezier” departs from single performances and puts Chekhov’s Seagull (in addition to Larin, actress of the Alexandrinsky Theatre G. Karelin was occupied), then Pushkin’s Station Caretaker (1997, the play was created jointly with the State Pushkin Theatre Center) and Peak Lady (1998).
The author’s theater is distinguished by an impeccable sense of style, experimentation in communicating with classics, instantaneous transformations, taste for playing with the subject. Performances of theaters "Osobnk" and "Pontplaisir" are participants and laureates of many theater festivals.
In St. Petersburg, Larin also staged performances of Ascension by Ostrovsky's Storm, which began to rehearse at the Alexandrinsky Theatre, but was released under the auspices of the A. Mironov Russian Entreprise (1993); in the theater of Satire-dramatic ballet Petrushka (1997), there was a troll ... on the Snow Queen of G.-H. Andersen (1997) and Big People with Good Eyes of A. Maximov (1998).
Larin toured a lot; staged performances in the theaters of Moscow, Irkutsk, Tyumen, Khabarovsk, Nizhnevartovsk, Yekaterinburg, Orel. He also worked in Romania, Finland, Germany, Sweden, America. Ostrovsky’s Les (1996), Pushkin Station Warden (1998), Road to Magnitka (2000), P. Ershov’s Konek-Humpback (2000), Fan-Tulpan (2000), etc. In Petrozavodsk, he plays not only in the dramatic theater (Russian Drama Theater), but also in the musical theater, where he released several operettas. Since 2000, Larin has been the artistic director of both Petrozavodsk theaters.
Since 2002, the Moscow period of the theater "Monplaisir" began.
