Boris Grigoryevich Plotnikov was born in 1949 in Nevyansk. Soviet and Russian theater and film actor, People's Artist of Russia graduated from the Ural State University and the Sverdlovsk Theatre School on the course of Y. Zhigulsky in 1970. After graduating from the university, he served eight years in the Sverdlovsk Theatre of Young Spectators. Since 1978, Boris Plotnikov began to work in the Moscow Theater of Satire. After graduating from the university, he served eight years in the Sverdlovsk Theatre of Young Spectators.
Since 1978, Boris Plotnikov began to work in the Moscow Theater of Satire. His roles in the performances “Repair”, “Cherry Orchard”, “Shadows”, “Mad Money” have always been diverse and characteristic. In 1988, Plotnikov was invited to the Theatre of the Soviet Army to play the role of Prince Myshkin in the play “The Idiot” based on the novel of the same name by F. M. Dostoevsky. Boris Plotnikov played this role 189 times over the course of twelve years. Since 2002 he has been working in the A. P. Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre Company. For his role in the play “Farewell ... and applaud!” the actor was awarded the prize “Moscow Premiere” of the Stanislavsky Foundation.
His film debut took place in 1976 in the film by Larisa Shepitko.
