Honored Russian choreographer, artistic director of the St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre, Boris Eifman was born in 1946 in the Altai Territory. During his long creative career, he made a huge contribution to the formation and development of Russian ballet art, for which he was awarded the titles of Honored Artist of the RSFSR and People's Artist of Russia, and also became a laureate of the State Prize of Russia.
Already in 1966, at the age of 16, he became the head of the school choreographic team. In 1972 he graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov Leningrad State Conservatory in ballet class, after which the triumphal career of a young talented choreographer began. The first productions of Yuri Eifman – ballets “Life to meet”, “Icarus”, “Brilliant divertissement”, “Fantasia” – were enthusiastically received by the audience and attracted the attention of critics to his work.
In 1977, a talented young choreographer decided to create his own theater, which he called the New Ballet. Later, this theater was renamed the St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theatre under the direction of Boris Eifman. The legendary performances "Only Love", "Temptation", "Under the Cover of Night", "The Interrupted Song", "Two Voices" brought the theater and its leader a resounding success and worldwide fame. /
