Upon his return, the LP Rated R was released in 2000, and in the summer of 2001 Queens of the Stone Age took part in the Ozzfest festival. Later that year, the QOTSA team took part in the Rock In Rio music competition in Rio de Janeiro.
To participate in the recording of the album “Songs For The Deaf” the participants invited Dave Grohl.
), who not only helped the musicians with the release of the compilation, but also went with them on a tour in support of it. In addition to Dave Grohl, Mark Lenegan also participated in it. In 2003, the group "QOTSA" takes part in the recording of the musical accompaniment to film "Dangerous Games" The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys. In 2005, QOTSA released the album Lullabies to Paralyze. Its release takes place in the summer of the same year, and the main material is represented by musicians who worked on the recording of songs: Josh Hommy, Joey Castillo, Troy Van Leuven, as well as Alan Johannes. Later, the song "In My Head" from the compilation became the soundtrack for the computer game Need for Speed: Underground 2. In 2006, Josh returned to the project “Headband”, while recording songs for the new album “Era Vulgaris”, released in 2007.
