Green Day is a musical group formed in 1986. Two friends Michael Ryan Pritchard and Billy Joe Armstrong decide to form a musical band with the original name Sweet Children. The first song they performed was a song written by Billy Joe called “Why Do You Want Him?” The next year, the team comes to the drum set Al Sobrant, and the general decision of the members of the team changes the name to “Green Day”. The group begins to perform in music clubs and youth parties. In 1989, the debut EP titled "1,000 Hours" appeared.
Soon the group leaves Al Sobrant, in his place comes Tre Cool. Slappy Hours was released in 1990. In 1991, the musicians released the album “Kerplunk”, which brought the group “Green Day” popularity – musicians begin to be invited to concerts, music programs and large stage venues. A contract with the production company Reprise Records gives the musicians the opportunity to start work on songs for the next album, and in 1994 the album “Dookie” was released. "When I Come Around", "Longview" and "Basket Case" feature music videos that are streamed on MTV and top of the "Modern Rock Tracks" chart. In support of the album "Green Day" goes on tour with the band "Pansy Division".
The 1997 album "Nimrod" with the title track "Hitchin' A Ride" became a real bestseller. The variety of styles intertwined in one album proves once again that musicians are able to successfully combine alternative rock with lyrical ballads (“Time Of Your Life”). In 2000, the band recorded the album Warning, after the release of which Green Day went on a world tour. Upon his return, the studio album American Idiot was recorded, presented as a rock opera and occupied the top position of the Billboard.
In 2007, Green Day released a collection of songs for The Simpsons Movie. In May 2009, the album “21st Century Breakdown” was released, which received a Grammy as “best rock album of the year”. /
