Meet the musicians of the future band "The Roots" - Black Thought (Tariq Trotter), Questlove (Ahmir Khalib Thompson), Hub (Leon Hubbard) Malik B - takes place while studying at school. After talking, the guys learn that they are committed to the same musical style and decide to perform hip-hop together. Soon they are invited to the "talent show", where they come out as winners. This is how the Square Roots were born. Initially, performances are held on the streets, youth parties. Gradually, gaining fame, they move to music clubs, where they perform with great enthusiasm. In 1992, for ease of pronunciation, the name was shortened to "The Roots".
In 1993, the band was invited to a concert of hip-hop music in Germany, before leaving the musicians recorded their debut album “Organix”, which became the starting point for the band’s promotion to the musical Olympus. In 1995, the album “Do You Want More?!!??” appeared, but it leaves both fans and music critics indifferent. In the same year, The Roots took part in the Montreux Festival. In 1996, “Illadelph Halflife” appeared, which occupies the 34th position in the Billboard TOP-100.
Three years later, the album “Things Fall Apart” comes out, which goes gold and rises to 4th place in the Billboard TOP-200.
