Jim Brickman graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music in composition and arrangement. His musical career began at the age of nineteen when Jim Henson invited him to record his work Sesame Street. The first solo instrumental track to hit the Billboard chat was "Rocket to the Moon" from Jim Brickman's first album, No Words (1994). His next four albums, "By Heart", "Picture This", "The Gift", and "Destiny", have sold over 500,000 copies.
Jim Brickman recorded two Christmas albums, The Gift (1997) and Peace (2003), and the 2005 album Grace is known for its arrangements of famous Christmas tunes. In 2005, together with Walt Disney, he released a children’s-oriented album, The Disney Songbook.
From 1994 to 2005 he recorded for Windham Hill Records, and since 2005 he has released discs for Savoy Records.
