Julio Bocca

Born in 1967, Julio began studying ballet at the age of four under his mother, Nancy Bocca. In 1974 he entered the Higher Institute of Art of the Colon Theatre, and at the age of 15 he already performed on the stage of theaters in Venezuela and Brazil. Bocca became famous in 1985, winning the V International Ballet Competition in Moscow. Having seen his performance in the recording, Mikhail Baryshnikov invited the Argentine to the American Ballet Theatre, where a year later he became a leading dancer.

In 1974 he entered the Higher Institute of Art of the Colon Theatre, and at the age of 15 he already performed on the stage of theaters in Venezuela and Brazil. Bocca became famous in 1985, winning the V International Ballet Competition in Moscow. Having seen his performance in the recording, Mikhail Baryshnikov invited the Argentine to the American Ballet Theatre, where a year later he became a leading dancer. The talented artist was also invited by the Royal Ballet of Great Britain, La Scala, almost all the leading ballet companies in the world. They love him in Russia, too. He often danced on the stages of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky theaters, in the plays of Boris Eifman.
In 1990, the Colon Theatre named Bocca its representative abroad. At the same time, he founded the troupe Argentine Ballet, which toured around the world. After 7 years, Julio founded his own theater studio. He participated in Bob Foss’ famous musicals Cabaret and Chicago on Broadway. In 2002, he created the show Bocca Tango.
