This show is wonderful! It's like a fragrant fruit pie that Ned just baked. In this pie delicious fantastic plot, which generously added a sincere love line, a note of irony, intrigue and humor, like the cherry on the pie.
Mmm, it's just delicious!: /b>
At first I was confused by the excessive brightness, the strange manner of narration, as if ' cardboard & #39; scenery, but then I realized that it only helps to pay attention to the experiences and adventures of the characters. Something the manner of narration and cartoon scenery reminded me of the series 'Thirty-three misfortunes'.
I really liked the main character Ned (Lee Pace) - charming, shy, clumsy giant with kind eyes and a big heart. It was difficult for me to recognize him as Tranduil of 'The Hobbit' Garrett of 'Twilight' and even more so Ronan the Prosecutor of ' Guardians of the Galaxy' because here he is quite different. A talented actor:*
If you urgently need to cheer up, solve a couple of riddles, feel in love and special, feel animated after death, escape from Clark Kent to your inner Superman, then ' Dead on demand' - this is what you need! :)
One episode and you watch, the other and you keep watching.
If I were asked how I could describe this series in a nutshell, I would say: bright and delicious.
It is this impression that remains from watching this series in which there are only two seasons, but what!
Nice fairy tale, naivety and pink ponies, and of course love! Unanswerable or mutual, but without the ability to touch each other. . .
Plot
A guy who can resurrect with one touch is unusual. I came across this wonderful series a few years ago, but then I watched only one season, and then abandoned. And now, revisiting it again, I realized that in ordinary life, sometimes, kindness and magic are very lacking. If you don’t have any, look at this one too.
Activity
Actors are what I started revising it for. Namely, Lee Pace. After watching 'The Hobbit' and 'Stop and Burn', the actor captivated with his performance. In this tape, he plays a cute caker, in love and a little naive, like the whole series, but even more touching.
Which once again proves that Li is very talented and knows how to embody in any role.
Anna Friel also succeeds in the role of the deceased and newly resurrected lover of a cake. But most of all I want to mention the game Christine Chenowat. She managed to show both the most comical and the most tragic character of this picture.
Because of her unrequited love for the cake, you feel an involuntary sympathy for her. It should also be noted her voice, she sings very well in several series.
Result:
I recommend to all fans of Lee Pace and Anna Friel, as well as those who believe in goodness and love.

“Do you think that if you’re dead, you won’t tell us anything?” . - Emerson Code.
Yet there is an amazing, unique phenomenon of chance in our lives. They lead to various results, sometimes sad, but more often to joyful. For this series, the chain of accidents was as follows:
1. Watch the movie 'The Hobbit. An Unexpected Journey & #39;
2. Rejoicing at the sight of King Licholesia, the arrogant Tranduil
3. Film search site, viewing Lee Pace's filmography ...
4. ..and voila! .
Immediately pleased with the bright picture and well-thought outfits of all the heroes. Charlotte Charles retro dresses, colorful mini Olives, knitted vests and fancy Detective Code shirts, as well as simple but stylish Ned's cake robes.
This wonderful series will provide positive even in the grayest weekdays. It is full of joy for life and lightness (even the dead who are revived for a minute here do not lose their vigor, hoping for revenge, what to say about ' twice born' Charlotte Charles).
All the characters are sculpted with great love, even minor ones that appear for just one episode. They fascinate at first sight. The main character, Ned, with his sad eyes and hands, forever hidden in his pockets. His love is Charlotte, who owes him his life. Grumpy and sarcastic Emerson Code, diligently hiding his trembling nature. Lily and Vivian, Charlotte's aunts, are hilarious in their opposite. And...the gorgeous Olive Snook, who fought in my heart with Charlotte Charles, and by the start of season two, won triumphantly.
After watching the series, it is impossible not to fall in love with Olive with her unrequited feelings for Pie and the habit of voicing iconic moments of her life with songs. Uh, where did Ned look? Without rejecting the feminine charm of Chuck, the prize of my audience sympathy I still gave Miss Snook.
The downside of this series is how sharply it was cut. Most of the plot threads were cut, at best - tied careless nodes. Another season probably wouldn’t hurt. Although... there is a reason to develop imagination, thinking up what we have not been shown.
I started watching the series purely out of a desire to admire the posh Lee Grinner Pace. And knows what? I only thought about it for the first 15 minutes of the series. And then I... fell in love! In the magical atmosphere, in the naivety and wonder of this place. I fell in love with Ned, his reckless girlfriend Chuck, a grumpy detective, hopelessly in love with Olive, and all the characters! I fell in love completely and irrevocably. So that I wanted to walk on a flower field under an incredibly blue sky, wear bright lush dresses, eat delicious apple pies with cheese crust. I wanted to be as happy and direct as the heroes.
When looking at the face, a sweet smile appeared minute by minute. I was pleasantly surprised by the completely non-poor humor, ironic presentation of the plot. Bright, almost cartoon scenery. Despite the detective tint and the theme of death, the series is exceptionally positive, kind and cheerful.
Separately, actors. Before this series, I was lucky enough to see Lee Pace on the screen. But he is such an actor that if he has more than 5 minutes of screen time, you definitely can’t take your eyes off him. He generally looks perfect in the role of a caker, an honest and sensitive guy with an infectious smile. I wanted to smile back at him at 32!
But there are others. Chuck is a charming and brave girl, Olive is a naive and in love Barbie doll, Emerson is a curious grumpy. Together, they create an atmosphere so alive and attractive that you would happily swap your gray reality for it.
The plot, of course, is simple and quite predictable, but here all the beauty is not intrigue. For me, this is a film about love, the kind you imagine as a child. And the fact is that this series can at least for a few hours turn you into open to the world and the whole new child.
- My name is Ned. I lead a simple life, I bring to life pies and baking the dead.
Black humor was never one of my favorites, but something inspired me to watch this wonderful series. The series looks in one breath - you can calmly watch before going to bed or spend a weekend in the company of Ned and his friends, no matter when - the series is quite simple, and do not think about every phrase spoken by the character. It's better to laugh at it.
Perhaps the first thing I would like to mention is the bright colors and scenery. The series, it would seem, should be in gloomy tones, because the plot revolves around deaths and murders, but here it is the opposite. In general, everything looks pretty cute - from the death of a doggie with four wives to cakes with psychostimulants for aunts Vivian and Lily.
I really liked the actor Lee Pace. Maybe that’s why I watched Pushing Daisies. It seems that the role was given to him easily and effortlessly - he enters it without difficulty, and the character reveals to the audience as an ordinary guy with an unusual hobby. Also loved actresses Ellen Green and Swoozy Kertz, who played Aunt Chuck. A one-eyed gloomy woman and her slightly eccentric sister, who were once synchronists, are now forced to suffer the death of their niece (who, by the way, did not die). Comic and interesting characters will not make you miss.
I was pleased with the musical inserts – actors in addition to performing their roles know how to sing, and even how to sing! I remember Christine Chenowat has already shown her singing talent in Glee, and here she coped with it no worse.
Pushing Daisies is a true tale of love, obstacles and... death. The series is full of sincere feelings, unusual situations, adventures and imagination, inherent only in fairy tales and works of cinema. Here, all serious moments are played with humor, which allows us to recall the words Horace - carpe diem (capture the moment). Life is short, and the chance to fix it is not given to everyone, so you should just enjoy every day and rejoice until death. That’s the moral of the show.
It is a pity that it was closed, although, perhaps, this is for the best – I did not have time to get tired, like “The Vampire Diaries”, “Supernatural” or “Arrow”, the last seasons of which are disappointing. The series died, but departed with dignity and an honorable rating of 10, set by me.
On the wave of sudden rising interest in Lee Pace (thanks to Peter Jackson's trilogy "The Hobbit", of course), my friend and I dug up a series in which the role is considered almost the best in the career of an actor. It's called "Dead Before Demand" or "Pushing Daisies" if it's original. The first season was released in 2007, the second in 2009. It was also the final one.
The plot is very unusual, which attracted me personally in the first place. The main character is Ned, who in his childhood learns that he has an amazing gift - with one touch he can bring a person back to life. Excellent, don't you think? But here comes our favorite law of meanness: if within a minute Ned does not touch the resurrected again, someone else will die. If he touches, the living man will finally pass into the world of the dead. Brutal.
Childhood passes. The hero has a pastry shop and lives in the company of a dog. Also at leisure, he solves murders: he revives the dead, asks who killed him and sends him back to the other world. One day he tries to solve the case of a murdered girl who turns out to be the lover of his childhood - her name is Charlotte (Anna Friel). This is where all the fun begins, if I may say so. There is a feeling between the characters, but here is the problem: Ned can't touch a girl because he'll kill her instantly.
Dead on Demand is a black comedy drama. Bryan Fuller is one of the most talented writers on television in our time. The series is ridiculous to tears, but equally touching. On the one hand, you scoff at a very unusual kiss through the bag, and on the other - suddenly it becomes pity people who can not know the beauty of simple touch. You seem to laugh, but at the same time you think about what is happening. The special beauty of black comedies (good, of course) is precisely this: through a joke, some idea is transmitted.
A very bright picture in the series - from the mixing of a huge number of colorful flowers ripples in the eyes. Everything is built on contrasts. Psychedel, by God.
Well-written conversations, well-chosen soundtracks, great actors. Lee Pace, by the way, is really good. It was unusual to see him in the image of a funny guy with strange abilities (especially after the role of the powerful king of the elves).
I guess the idea behind Dead on Demand is that everything has a downside. Every talent has a flaw, a drop of tar in a barrel of honey. And each of us learns to manage our gift, live with it and even benefit from it. Here's Ned, for example, returning spoiled strawberries to their original appearance. And I also made a statement.
The series "Dead to Demand" was very successful and well-loved by critics, it has nominations for the Golden Globe and Emmy. But personally, I'm missing something. It seems somehow faked, sometimes empty and even just uninteresting. And the idea seems to be there, and the implementation of it is wonderful - but still I have a feeling of incompleteness and dissatisfaction after watching. Maybe "Pushing Daisies" is worth seeing at least once in your life. But, honestly, I regret the time spent on it.
In the fall, when you get bored with series about detective investigations, intricate love passions, the complicated lives of doctors / teachers / models / physicists and others, and you want something more human, soft and harmless, discover “Dead on demand”. Despite being "dead" in both the title and the plot, the series is actually infinitely kind. Yes, he is devoid of any complex semantic load and the mystery of the universe, he will not reveal to you, but he is quite capable of creating an amazing atmosphere on the soul, and at the same time and captivate the unusual course of the murder investigation.
What awaits you? You will get acquainted with the kind-hearted and a little sad cake Ned, who has a frightening gift, with his charming and cheerful lover Chuck, with a miniature talker Olif, with the pragmatic and cynical Emerson Code. These new friends will take you into a world of exciting investigations, funny coincidences, and even share some of their scary secrets and childhood memories. Sometimes you can be visited by funny aunts-recluse Vivienne and Lily, and then you can not avoid nostalgic stories about their glory of mermaids and not turn away from a delicious cake with tea.
You are also waiting for a bright, juicy picture, which would be more suitable for some children's film than a series about the revival of the dead. Such a risky choice of colors, oddly enough, turned out to be very accurate to reflect the general relaxed mood of the Dead on Demand. The riot of colors is complemented by truly magical and soulful music, after which you will be finally fascinated by this cute naive series about the adventures of a good cakemaker and his friends.
You will understand that a love triangle does not always lead to Brazilian passions and intrigues, that a cynical person may not be a stale cracker at all, but a person with a big kind heart, that you need to appreciate your loved ones who support you, whether they are family or friends. And also that breeding bees is fun, wonderful pies can be obtained from spoiled fruits, and also get recommendations on how to stir up your aunts who stayed at home and where to go to a woman whose brain is full of other people's secrets and secrets.
In a series of various series so long lacked something like this: light, childishly naive, devoid of vulgarity and warming the soul in a bad day. It’s good that now we have “Dead on Demand” – a series that can be reviewed whenever you want fairy tales.
8 out of 10
Let's start with the title. ' Dead on Demand' came out on me while I was looking for a detective. Of the creators behind the title, I knew Brian Fuller and Adam Kane, from 'Hannibal' and 'Heroes'. I was hoping for possibly 'bloody' but an intriguing detective on the verge of a thriller. What did I get?
After the title, I saw the poster. Uh, Lee Pace! And Lee Pace is good, I have already seen him 'Soldier Girl' and 'Fake' and managed to evaluate him from several angles. Having bet on the actor and writers and director I know, I decided not to delve too much into the colorfulness of the poster, but to start watching.
Many people compare the series with 'Amelie'? People like to compare something to something. It kind of makes it easier for them. Although what the paintings have in common is a mystery to me. No. you can here and the elephant by the ears to pull, but still the value of the series ' Dead on demand' you need to look not in comparison with other paintings, and in the bowels of the series.
The beauty that any children's fairy tale will envy! The film is so bright, extreme and seems to have come off the pages of children's fairy tales that it does not fit with the title. Then we are shown a corpse, and sometimes a rather eccentric corpse, a couple of jokes in the style of ' black humor' and everything seems to be preparing to fall into place. There are chases, shootings, terrible maniacs, eccentric methods of murder, cruel reprisals and so on. There's a quick detective here, and the detective has a handsome assistant. He bakes cakes and sometimes brings the dead to life. This is the protagonist Ned, sincere, kind and with a high sense of justice, who suddenly finds himself in a situation where he is forced to give up his justice. To revive the love of his childhood and accidentally kill an innocent man, or to act in conscience and say goodbye forever to the girl Chuck with whom he was in love?
This is where the adventures of the cake begin. True adventures, not at all fabulous-childish. It's more like a mix of 'Amelie' and 'Hannibal' which doesn't seem real at all. But the series came out so charming that the viewing goes unnoticed quickly and with great pleasure.
Needless to say, every character, absolutely everyone who appeared on the screen in two seasons, was an individual. Each had something intriguing, and complemented the overall story.
The sound and musical accompaniment, and Christine Chenoweth's musical numbers add some softness.
Everything turned out very well. The picture, sound, script, cinematography and acting are precisely measured and converged so perfectly that small roughnesses remain invisible. The series has a lot of advantages, and if you like detectives, then it is mandatory to watch, it has riddles that you can think about. But at the same time it is very light and fun. It all seems incompatible, but it turned out so ' tasty ' that not come off.
Excellent, dynamic and bright series, seasoned with a good dose of humor
Despite the fact that almost every episode begins with someone’s (sometimes especially brutal) death, the series is filled with humor, positivity, and, of course, love.
Plot: Ned, the central character, a difficult guy, as he once said: ' bringing pies to life and baking the dead' It’s just the opposite, of course!
Ned can revive the deceased with one touch, but not for long, otherwise it is fraught with consequences. And one day he revives the lost love of his childhood, but here's the trouble, he can no longer touch, otherwise she will die again and this time forever. This is where the main storyline is focused.
The picture is pronounced and juicy, the plot is simple and outstanding, but at the same time interesting and dynamic, and in some ways, resembles the style of Burton. A lot of bright colors and juicy phrases.
Characters:
A sweet and charming baker with a difficult fate and a complex, specific gift. Lee Pace is excellent, charming and harmonious as a shy, madly in love caker. For me, it's one hundred percent hit in the character. Infinitely charming, clumsy and, without realizing it, courageous and strong.
Chuck - Ned's main interest, childhood love, beauty, lively and charming, for which he would do anything. Anna Friel is charming.
Emmerson Code: A private detective who accidentally learns about Ned’s abilities and, as a result, turns him into a partner, perhaps forgetting about his morals, values and real responsibilities. Nevertheless, in my opinion, one of the most colorful and humorous characters of the series, Chi McBride - a separate song, perfectly coped with the role, sometimes laughed in her voice over the grins and lines of the character.
Naturally, there are still a bunch of interesting and significant characters who make their significant contribution to the plot and the narrative as a whole. You need to see it without thinking!
Bright, fabulous, sound, and, most importantly, with excellent humor!

It is already clear from one visual series that this is an unusual show. A promising story about a young man Ned (Lee Pace), resurrecting the dead and solving murders with his partner-detective Emerson Code (in this role, Chi McBride was remembered), best fits into the frame ' fairy tales for adults': this is a fascinating mix of ' black' comedy, detective, melodrama, horror, philosophical parable - and this is not to mention the musical inserts performed by Christine Olek in the charming role.
The cast shines in their roles, the characters - from the main cast to guest roles - are remembered by interesting characters, and the voice of the narrator harmoniously blends into the overall picture, becoming a full-fledged hero and participant in all the events described. Anna Friel plays beautiful and clever Charlotte, whose friends call just Chuck. Her character dies in the very first series, and Ned, in love with her since childhood, resurrects the girl, unable to even touch Charlotte. This is the price of the gift of resurrection: if Ned touches the resurrected one again, he will die forever. So Ned and Chuck live, inventing ways to show their love and content themselves with small things.
In addition, this series is visual feast, otherwise you can not say. And although the action takes place today, designers do everything to make the audience return to those days when the ball was ruled by such a cute and cozy 1950s: the flowering of youth culture, youth cinema, rock 'n' roll, beautiful cars.
It's an unusual show. As with all of Bryan Fuller's projects, it also subtly tells simple stories of life and death, and of course love. A little sentimental, a little cynical. But still this story is the most vivid illustration of a simple truth: life is precious, despite all the difficulties and adversity.
This charming series immediately hits the eyes with a blinding yellow field of daisies and daisies under a blue-blue sky. Such colorful, utopian pictures filled all the series. And if in the first seconds it causes bewilderment, then in this colorful world I want to plunge with my head.
The genre of "Dead on Demand" (not a very successful translation of the title) I would define as a detective/romantic comedy. The main character, Ned, loves to bake pies, owns his own restaurant and can revive the deceased with one touch - however, his next touch kills the resurrected again. Due to his ability, he turns out to be a very useful assistant for private detective Emerson. One day, Ned revives Chuck, the girl he has loved since childhood, but they can't touch each other, or Chuck will die again, and this time for good. Isn't it, an intriguing twist? At least I was attracted immediately.
All the actors played just fine. All characters without exception are charming and interesting, with characteristic features. Ned (Lee Pace) with her eyebrows house and shyness is very cute, Chuck (Anna Friel) is very cheerful and inquisitive, her aunts Lily and Vivienne are very eccentric, Olive, the waitress hopelessly in love with Ned is very funny and clumsy, Emerson is murderously sarcastic.
Everything here is exaggeratedly bright - buildings, wallpaper, pies, clothes, characters. And it looks so fun and pleasant that you start smiling. And, oddly enough, black humor does not look black at all.
Each episode has its own detective story with caricature-ridiculous murders and deaths. Here, in general, a special attitude to death - after all, Ned can animate anyone with a simple touch of his "magic finger", and she no longer seems so terrible. Even the victims themselves are not too scared of their death. It is enough to look at the white and red neat morgue building to tune in to the ironic humor of the series.
To fully appreciate this humor, of course, it is better to watch in the original - the translation, judging by what I have heard, kills half the jokes. And in translation, you can not hear the hilariously funny voice of Olive and sarcastic intonations of Emerson - and this is already capable of laughing!
Another interesting find is the voice-over of the narrator, who, in full serious high calm, describes the details of the emotional experiences of the characters and their exact, up to the minutes, age.
I recommend Dead on Demand to all dreamy people with a sense of humor - the series is really unusual. It makes you feel better!
P.S. I have to warn about the side effect - after watching, I want to eat a piece of cake with berries.
At the age of 18 years, 8 months, 3 weeks, 3 days, 6 hours, 40 minutes and 3 seconds, I suddenly felt an overwhelming desire to watch this series. The first series struck me with an unusual plot and color so much that I began to watch this series every day until I watched the finale.
A good pirate is a dead pirate. A good series is one that ended in time, without having time to get bored by the viewer. In "Dead on demand" season 2, and in the 1st 9 episodes, in the 2nd - 13. So the series, by modern standards, can be considered small.
Besides, it's an unusual series. It resembles an illustration from children's books. Bright, colorful, juicy. Each episode is a fairy tale with some irony. In addition to the side storylines associated with the investigation of murders, the main line stretches through the entire series - the relationships of the main characters.
The cast is quite charismatic. Each of the actors feels not only his hero, but also the “note” of the whole series, and therefore, when I watched the next series, I saw not Lee Pace, Anna Friel, Chi McBride, Christine Chenowat, but cake Ned, his girlfriend Chuck, detective Codd, waitress Olive. Throughout history, I have rejoiced and chewed for and with this campaign.
Very nice show. It is possible to watch on cold winter evenings, wrapped in a blanket and armed with a cup of hot chocolate.
Already on the posters for the series it is clear that this is a colorful, kind, funny film, which was created to lift the mood and share with the audience the charge of positivity. And this is not a deceptive impression, throughout the film, prepare to contemplate berries, flowers, bees, birds, sweet pies, bright colors, in something cartoonishly good characters, and even those who have passed away into the other world are not at all terrible here.
Witty, with its own unique style, bright, some kind of cozy, cute, funny, causing a smile - this is such a movie. Like an old, good fairy tale - and instructive, and magical, and naive. And, most importantly, in this manner, not only simple truths are presented, but also complex relationships between people.
It is especially pleasing that both the main and secondary characters are thought out, have bright characters and are driven by their own motives. Ned, Chuck, Olive, Emmerson - each of them has their own positive traits and their negative ones, these are not ' flat' characters, not one-sided. Everyone has their dreams, their views, their priorities. The same goes for the others.
Lee Pace, Anna Freel, Chi McBride, Christine Chenowat are high-level actors, and their performances are noteworthy. Lee has seen in different roles, but Ned is probably his most iconic role, although in ' Fake' and ' Outside ' he is no less beautiful. And, of course, it was a sin not to use the fact that Christine has a strong voice and sings well.
The only regret I have is that this series has been shut down. And he could for a long time please with his colors and juicy pictures, especially since the plot was never completed. This is a huge injustice, I think.
Watch for those who want to cheer themselves up. Watch those who are not indifferent to romantic comedies. Finally, look at those who are interested not only in the content, but also how it is served.
I do not advise pragmatists and those who are not a fan of sweet stories.
9 out of 10
And only because it was logical to finish it, once they decided to close it.
It's an amazingly solid series! Each episode 'Pushing Daisies' is perceived as a separate story, but of course there is a connection between the series - the characters and their relationship.
There are four main characters:
Ned is a young confectioner who is able to revive the dead with one touch, but touching the second time - kill once and for all.
Charlotte "Chuck" Charles is the girl Ned was in love with as a child and brought to life. The truth is, at the cost of touching, they can never touch each other, or Chuck will die once and for all.
Emerson Code is a private investigator, he is the only one who knows Ned's secret (Chuck will later learn it) and uses it in his work.
Olive Snook - works in the pastry Ned waitress, hopelessly in love with the pastry chef.
There are two more heroes of the second plan, although they often come out on the first one:
Lily Charles and Vivian Charles are Aunt Chuck. They do not know that their niece is alive and well. They live in sadness, which Chuck struggles to dispel by sending them homeopathic supplement pies. Olive Snook became friends with aunts because she is the one who delivers these pies. And thanks to Olive, aunts become participants in adventures.
The series, despite its tragicomy, is very kind. It is worth watching, at least because of the beautiful music, incredibly beautiful costumes and appetizing pies. It should be noted that the series is timeless. It is impossible to know in what year the action takes place, perhaps it attracts.
What can a person do in a minute? I thought I'd take a few steps, say hello to 10 friends, etc. The list goes on. Heroes of the same series ' Dead on demand ' in a minute can solve the whole case. This is the beginning of the story of the main adventures of the heroes.
The theme of death is presented in bright colors (blue, pink, green), everything is full, and reminds you to live! Nothing hints at such a dark topic. The series is full of jokes and a very unusual situation. It looks easy and in one breath.
