Like Kortik, Bronze Bird suffers from an ideology, but unlike its predecessor, it can delight with more pleasant characters and a more exciting plot. Events unfold not in the city, but in the pioneer camp, which means tents, unity with nature and, of course, bikes by the fire. It's amazing how well the film presents this latter. Without any reservations, we can say that in the “Bronze bird” there are elements of real horror. Another thing is that the topic is not fully disclosed. It is clear that the trace of ideology remains too deep to get out of it, but it is still a shame that talk about the devil and the devil is not developing. It was possible to show will and imagination, and they never appeared. Thus, the main potential, unfortunately, is buried in the ground.
At the same time, The Bronze Bird shows a feature of the Soviet system that needs approval: the fight against ignorance. After all, not all pioneers made their choices consciously, but the enlightenment of the backward villagers deserves praise. Even Genka, who in the “Kortik” himself was perceived as a backward and unbred kid, here already acts as a representative of the civilized world. Of course, this film is not based on real events, but the assumption that in the 1920s, the inhabitants of European Russia still believed that there was paranormal around them, makes you think about a lot.
The detective story with the bronze bird and its mystery causes more interest than in the “Kortika”, and it is important to note that in the sequel the villains are very successfully shown – a former countess and a gang of thieves, among which the boatman, magnificently played by Nikolai Kuzmin. Returning to ideology, it is worth noting the amazing thing: in the film without ridicule (well, almost) shows an anarchist hero. This retreat from the dominant system in 1974 is a real phenomenon. Another good thing about Bronze Bird is humor, especially when treating Keith’s gluttony. Not the most comfortable name, right?
At the same time, the Bronze Bird also puts Misha at the forefront, who is played by Sergei Shevnunenko, who has already created a bad reputation for himself. The character does not have past shortcomings this time, and this is the only thing that somehow justifies and smooths out the negative perception. I wish someone with a more masculine voice had been called. The lack of close-ups in the most intriguing moments, when the characters consider small diagrams and inscriptions, directly refers to a similar problem of "Cortic". Unfortunately, the operator’s work here is at the same level, very weak.
But if you try not to pay attention to the problem actor and forgive the operator, then the Bronze Bird during the viewing pleases. There is no doubt that at least some of the shortcomings of the previous part were taken into account and corrected.

A reflection, apparently, of the initial period of the history of Soviet pioneering, when the pioneers were not yet standardized by strict discipline behind the fences of the pioneer camps under the strict control of the pioneer guides, and uncontrollably explored the accessible territory in the vicinity of the places of their summer deployment, along the way showing an active social position. In the 70s, the film, like the novella of the same name by A. Rybakov, was a coveted spiritual food of middle school age. Very well-educated pioneer actors, literary speaking strictly in turn, to the best of their abilities depict adventurers. A deliberately sinister figure - class alien, at first glance clear - of the old lonely guard of the estate (in the post-revolutionary brigandish deafness) with half a ton of non-ferrous metal in sight, disguised as a sculpture of a bird on a pedestal. Colorful Senka Erofeev, kulak brat. Well done is a funny episode with a maximalist anarchist explaining the principles of his ideology. A notable mound, ancient or not, was clearly waiting for it to be excavated - finding, at last, treasure - by savvy pioneers. Overall, the film looks long and sad.
We must follow this path without beginning or end. . .
The second part of the famous dilogy is sustained in the same tone as 'Kortik'.The same famous trio of guys is involved in a series of famously twisted events. The search for fugitive pioneers is replaced by a murder investigation, in which an innocent man is accused. And after that, the meeting with incomprehensible phenomena and people (' boatman, guys in the forest, everyone is digging something, looking') and the appearance of an incognito aristocrat-returner, completely lead to the mystery of the old estate, and to the discovery of the treasure of the late Count Karagaev. And the frames of the facade of the estate, with a mysterious bronze eagle, and a creepy ' Countess', and even with an alarming musical accompaniment for a long time cut into memory.
Like 'Kortik','. Bronze bird & #39; as close as possible to its printed original. However, there are some deviations. Take at least the notorious ' self-characteristics' - in the film they are significantly softened, the words ' SR', ' petty-bourgeois individualism', ' intellectual stratum' not used-emphasis is placed only on the moral qualities of this or that discussed. For the times were not the same, and most of the terminology of the post-revolutionary years has already become simply incomprehensible to the pioneers of the 70s.
As in the previous film, in 'Bronze Bird' in addition to young performers, experienced, outstanding masters of the stage and screen are also engaged. Such as Maria Kapnist (housekeeper Sofia Pavlovna), Vladimir Erenberg (doctor), Nikolai Kryukov (Cuban Communist). Separately, I would like to mention the actor of the Minsk Drama Theatre Augustin Milovanov, whose role as the anarchist artist Kondraty Stepanovich became almost the calling card of the actor.
Revolutionary romance, bright and unforgettable images, a fascinating adventure story - all this has attracted both young and adult viewers to the screens for many years. And quite deservedly entered the classics of Soviet children's cinema.

The colorful but all-too-ideal first film "Cortic" failed to overshadow "Bronze Bird," which continued the theme of the village detective and duly inflamed anyone who ever wanted to dig up a treasure. “Kortik”, by the way, I remember only the songs, among which the hit “At the Kursk railway station”, sung by a homeless person, stood out clearly.
Actors in the “Bronze bird” also survived those, Cortic, and the theme of the pioneer camp, even such, from the 20s, attracted its romanticism of independence and allowed all our figures to give an example in the style of “look how difficult it was for us”. And now... What is required of you, my dears? Di-sci-plee-na!
Songs from “Bronze bird”, by the way, we also at one time raveled and tried to make it detached, but we, of course, not allowed, because we were already yelling at the full power of children’s throats something about the last fight. To my surprise, some elements of the full version of The Bronze Bird have leaked into the film, such as where an anarchist artist paints a village club in bizarre tones.
Most of all, I liked the trip along the river with different meetings, from here, however, I took the moment with the field kitchen and added it to the first series of “Kortika”. And also, a wonderful invention of pioneering - self-characteristics, where everyone could practice demagoguery, pouring a whole of mud on his neighbor, properly coloring him in objective tones.
The history of the bronze bird was interesting, but for the first time I watched the film after reading the book. The main roles were very symbolically played by people with a terrible tragic fate.
In my opinion, Bronze Bird is not only one of the best children’s films and the best film about the first pioneers, but also the only film about the pioneer organization.
You might ask, there are so many films about pioneers. Nope! There are a lot of films about schoolchildren, about school-age children (if the action takes place in the summer), but it is about the pioneer organization - not. In ' The Bronze Bird' such pioneers as they were intended are shown: they are brave and honest guys who without fear come to the aid of the unjustly offended; they are merciless to their shortcomings and are not afraid of criticism, they are able to say important things to each other in the eyes, not insulting a friend, but urging him to think about his behavior; they help people without charge (learn literacy, give concerts, organize a club, bring books), protect village children from ochameli ' they do not fear their comrade.' Finally, they are responsible.
And at the same time, they are ordinary girls and boys, with their own characters, advantages and shortcomings, adoring secrets and adventures.
If the pioneer organization had not been emasculated and organized, but remained as it was in Bronze Bird 39, I think history would have turned very differently. And good people – smart, honest, responsible – would be much more in the country.
I really like the way in the film the guys discuss each other's shortcomings, regardless of, so to speak, faces. Well, their independence leads to complete delight: against the background of today’s keeping children under the skirts of mothers – especially.
And do not say that now life is different, all around maniacs and pedophiles. These children who survived the Civil, the dangers around were much greater. And even in the film, the real killers live right next to them and do not hide much. Just children are independent almost from the diaper, and know how to answer not only for themselves, but also for a friend who is nearby. This is timeless.
The only thing I can add to the movie is that I really like it, and I’m excited to revisit all three episodes this weekend. Detective component, mysterious mystery, humor, bright characters, wonderful actors - both children and adults. And, of course, the individual value is historical.
If you haven’t seen the movie, watch it. If you have 9-11+ kids, especially boys, show them the movie. Just get ready to answer some questions related to historical realities, however, if you do not rest on ideology, then your child will perceive historical realities in a similar way, say, that in the Adventures of Tom Sawyer or the Children of Captain Grant.

Twenties of the twentieth century. The civil war has just ended, Soviet power has been established, but some individual elements are resisting the new order, and the landowners and capitalists are not averse to returning their gains.
At this difficult time, the pioneer detachment spends the summer in the former landlord’s estate. The guys want not only to relax, but also to create a pioneer detachment in the village. And here is a count’s estate with a mysterious coat of arms, and the whole district has been going crazy for many years in search of a treasure.
The film is based on the novel by Anatoly Rybakov - an excellent literary basis. Given when the action takes place and when the book was written, communist ideology is indispensable: the scene with foreign communists alone is laughable! But for me, this story is primarily a fascinating detective with cunning weaves. The authors of the film very carefully treated the source, all the main rehearsals are preserved, the images of the characters are accurately transferred to the screen, humor is left, the actors play great. You could just add a little bit of vivacity to the director.
