Remember all-fiction movie, it has everything that is inherent in a really cool action movie: Well-staged combat scenes (especially the favorite reception of Schwartz knee in the nose), an interesting plot with really competent twists and turns of the plot.
Remember everything, perhaps my favorite movie with Arnold. Even Terminator 2 didn't get my love, why? Because the movie is really made with a soul. It is still being disassembled for memes, it has a really large number of Unique characters, who in my opinion drag the plot no less than Arnie himself. 3 breast woman has long been famous among the audience. Even the main villain of the film is not disgusting, he is not just a villain for the sake of just a villain, he is the number 1 enemy in Arnie’s life, literally and figuratively. Thus, the characters in the film develop, and most importantly, Schwarzenegger himself develops against their background.
I’m not going to talk about music, as always, it’s great. Also chic and with the plot of the tape, there are no stupid goals of the characters, no strange dialogues. Everything looks very diverse, and the main thing is that there are quite unusual turns, even though they are easy to predict.

“To remember everything” is a film straight from my childhood, about which I until yesterday remembered only the rubber inflatable face of Arnold with the eyes of the habitate.
Now, after reviewing the film at an already mature age, I can only applaud Verhoeven and recognize his ability to make films that successfully pass the test of time. "Robocop", "Star Troopers", "Remember everything" - all these films from a quarter of a century to 35 years. But all of them from the point of view of the visual, and from the point of view of working with scenes, and from all other points still look without cutting in the eyes. And even if you skip the moments by which you can identify the movie as a hello from the past, then the mind comes not “old”, namely “retro”.
"Remember Everything" is a rather famously twisted science fiction that likes to pretend to be a straight-forward, solid action movie from time to time. And Schwarzenegger, respectively, has to play here not only with muscles, but also with his face. With both, the legendary Austrian copes perfectly. Two other stars – the charismatic Michael Ironside and the spectacular Sharon Stone – successfully play secondary characters. I can’t say that acting is one of the key advantages of “Remember everything”, but the picture performers certainly do not spoil.
The strength of the film is in another: the plot and entourage. Having built the dystopian world of the future in Robocop, Verhoeven got into the taste and repeated the same thing in Remember Everything. Only if America is mired in crime in the action movie about a robot policeman, then everything looks very good here: the level of technology has developed to unprecedented heights, with their help you can at least change the color of your nails in the blink of an eye, even to Mars you can fly. On Mars, things are very different... Poor mutants-clairvoyant and dwarf prostitutes, greedy Kohaagen, seized power by controlling the air supply system and opposing him mysterious Kuato, which no one has ever seen - all this chains to the screen and does not let go to the final credits. In addition, the character of Schwarzenegger is not as simple as it seems. . .
As in RoboCop, Paul Verhoeven had to cut the harshest scenes from the final version to get a rating that not only serial killers but also regular 18+ viewers could watch. But even so, the ultraviolence with body-horror elements, which the Dutch director probably decided to make his trademark, is present in the film in sufficient quantity. Masters responsible for makeup and visual effects, worked every cent.
I haven’t seen a remake of Colin Farrell yet (just after the last point in this review, I’m going to make up for this gap). I hope that he is at least not bad, because in a frank thrash, the Irishman seems not to be noticed and, in general, is even a guarantor of a certain - quite high - level of quality. However, how much was the need for this remake is a controversial issue, because the original creation of Verhoeven still looks great.

Reviewing this film, I decided to finally understand what happened when the peaceful life of an ordinary hard worker on earth turns into a fighter on Mars. Just so veiled that at first I thought it was all virtuality, then the authors right in the film themselves try to convince us of this, for the first time they confused me.
What I want to note, just bothered, with the transfer of the atmosphere of Martian life in 2084, and at first glance everything is fine. But then you get to know the darker side of this Martian society, and you get too uncomfortable and more realistic. The main villain, in fact, is not a villain, just wants to keep power. And his assistant, too, motivation is clear.
As for the plot, he is cunning here, so to speak with a trick (and the devil is in the details). And the classic, when everything is on the string, Arnold, was stronger than that. And futurism, through the eyes of people who lived 33 years ago, is interesting to watch.
A person is determined by his actions, not his memories.
I watched “Remember Everything” for the first time now, although I thought I knew Arnold Schwarzenegger’s filmography quite well. But there are films that I don’t like by definition. I don’t really like space fiction, and just movies, the plots of which somehow echo the cosmos. This is a movie like that.
Trying to find an explanation for his strange dreams, the builder Douglas Quaid visits the company “Recall”, which can implant in the memory of a person false memories. But something went wrong during the procedure.
Paul Verhoeven, despite being called a cult director by many, is very unstable. I even have such a suspicion that with his main hits “Robocop”, “Basic Instinct” and “Remember Everything”, he was simply lucky. Seeing that he began to shoot after – it does not seem anything far-fetched. Total failure. Although you can still add to the list of "Star landing", but here worked rather good script, rather than the merit of the Director. But specifically, “Remember all” I do not consider the great movie that they want to put it.
I didn’t like the plot component very much. It's too confusing. They try to throw too much information on the viewer, but not everyone (including me) can keep it all in mind at the same time. The plot is even more or less interesting, but while the plot accelerated rapidly, constantly throwing new details, my interest gradually began to decline. Despite the abundance of action, I got bored. I only watched it to see how it would end.
“Remember Everything” won an Oscar for Special Achievement (in our opinion, for special effects), and I could argue with that, too. In the same year, at least two films were released, on a much smaller budget, where the visual is more deserving of the award than Remember Everything. These are movies like Dick Tracy and the Robocop sequel. In the same film, everything looks sloppy and when viewing the eyes constantly clings to very mediocre computer graphics.
Well, who else to play the main role in a fantastic action movie, if not the most popular bodybuilder of Hollywood. In those years, Arnold Schwarzenegger was one of the most popular actors and similar roles fell on him as a cornucopia. Despite his mediocre acting talent, he could pull any film. It's possible that "Remember Everything" might not have shot if he was absent from the caste. Although there and without him picked up a good cast. Sharon Stone, Rachel Tikotin, Michael Ironside and a bunch of actors who were once popular stars of their time. In the film, they do not particularly stand out, giving almost all screen time to the main character.
Like I said, I don't really like space movies. “Remember everything” although it is not a cosmo opera in its pure form, like, for example, the same “Star Wars”, but still I am not close to this theme and the film alienated me.
Ten years ago, this film had a remake with Colin Farrell. I honestly tried to watch it, but I didn’t get hooked and had to turn it off after the first half-hour of viewing. Thinking that the original with Schwarzenegger I will like, but here I pass. Even though I saw it all the way. There is nothing to watch here, except the cast of merits I did not find. But that's my personal opinion. I'll give you a few extra points for a good cast.
A cool and bright film from the very beginning of the 90s. I think a lot of people first got to know this movie when they were kids, while their parents were watching it on a cassette or some TV channel. This is never a movie for children, but as a child it was remembered by many. First of all, that Arnie, that Terminator! Secondly, there are many bright scenes in the film. For example, a Martian girl of easy behavior with a third joke (who watched - he will understand) or a scene where the hero is torn from a vacuum.
Schwartz feels like he's not living his life. He constantly dreams of promenades on the Red Planet and it does not give him peace. In general, the hero does not suspect anything. However, he wants adventure.
He ends up finding a company when he implants memories into his clients. Our hero immediately falls into the center of the vicissitudes of some very confusing cases, where he is assigned the main role - how else! The story is getting more and more confusing. And in order to understand what this is about and solve mysteries, you need to remember everything. It's a cool whirlpool that draws the viewer into.
Despite the simplicity of the film, it is made in the highest class. I mean, there are really a lot of cool actors out there who really play their roles. There are unrealistically cool special effects, which in the restored version look bombastic even in 2022.
In general, if you want classic fiction from the world of cinema, then watch it. Especially if there is a 4K version.
Quaid (Arnold Schwarzenegger) works as a builder, his life is an absolute routine. Gets up in the morning, watches the news, goes to work. But every night, his dreams literally scream that he should somehow get to Mars. It's possible in his age, because it's 2087. In the subway, he sees an advertisement saying that you can go to the same office and spend holidays on the red planet, without even leaving their office. Quaid agrees, and everything is not going according to plan.
'Remember everything' is a truly iconic movie. And both with us, straight from the video salons, and with them. The picture fell into a real production hell, the actors in the production changed like gloves, but the director's chair eventually went to Paul Verhoeven, a brilliant, albeit very controversial visionary.
Although it is based on the work of Philip Dick, one of the most important science fiction writers of the 20th century, ' Remember Everything' takes only the motives of good text. And turns it all into a good Hollywood movie.
Basic is, of course, a fantastic action movie with Arnold, scattering enemies to the right and left. Hundreds of bullets are fired at it, but never hit. In this case, everything looks much more logical than other works with the legend of action films, because we do not know until the very end where the main character is. Is he really uncovering spy plots somewhere on Mars, or is he just entangled in his own dreams?
'Remember everything' visually looks certainly outdated, but such a picture and antediluvian graphics has its own special charm. In each frame you can see remarkable efforts, because it is very difficult to create such a bizarre, sometimes ridiculous, but extremely understandable Martian world. Paul Verhoeven and the whole crew brilliantly coped with their task, and embodied on the screen what other Hollywood filmmakers did not even want to think.
I remember a recent book by a Russian-speaking researcher, Shameful Pleasure, devoted to commercial cinema and the intellectual’s special pleasure in communicating with him. The fact that the rental company “Other Cinema” re-releases vintage commerce in cinemas along with the masterpieces of the author’s cinema, suggests that in the eyes of the cinemaphile “Terminator 2” and “Seventh Seal”, “Remember All” and “Love Mood” are equalized in rights and oppose glossy-soulless information modernity in a united front. Indeed, when you go to watch Verhoeven’s film thirty years ago, you understand that it is foreign to our time, like Bergman’s “Persona”, primarily because it is a piece, man-made, analog product.
Screening the story of Philip Dick, especially loved by out-of-the-box commercial directors, including Spielberg and Ridley Scott, Verhoeven sets himself several tasks at once in the shell of action and interaction: 1) to tell an unusual story in which the normality of the main character is questioned (almost like in Rosemary’s Baby we almost do not understand to the very end that we are facing reality or imaginary memories); 2) to conceptually contrast the fascist regime of the villain character and the social Other, represented by mutants and rebels; and 3 finally give the main character an opportunity to commit a head-beater in his development. And all this, again, I emphasize, in the shell of a cool action movie, not deprived, like Verhoeven’s previous tape “Flesh and Blood”, and in general all his tapes by and large, physiological and naturalism.
There are several features that give out in the film “Remember all” features of the analog era: first of all, this is a certain ridiculousness of special effects associated with bodily modifications (in those years, the same Cronenberg lute in physiological terms in “The Fly”, for example, and his inventions are not outdated even from a technical point of view and now); secondly, this is a chopped montage, sharply gluing episodes of shootouts, fights and explosions, but not shining them into cabbage, as do, for example, the creators of Bond films, with a rebellien in general, the absence of the hero, who finally, in essence, and the main character, is not anticipheric in fact.
"Remember Everything" is, of course, fun to watch when you don't remember plot twists, visual cues, and don't expect Arnie to play the psychological game that's here, which is amazing. Then, besides, if you like piece analog goods and commercial vintage, you will be surprised how much there is in this picture unexpected and unusual even for today. Even cardboard Ironside and other faceless villains, including the main one, no Rachel Ticotin (who is it anyway?) can prevent you from enjoying a film that has only two good acting works – Arnie and Sharon, rehearsing here the role of charming evil, which she will create a few years later in the imperishable “Basic Instinct”. Ultimately, this picture is important not with roles and scant special effects, but with the ability of the real author from the movie Paul Verhoeven to hide in a commercial shell, of course, not a serious message (it’s still Hollywood), but still a lot of interesting things (the same thing he will do with some reservations years later in “Star landing”).
The legendary sci-fi film tells about the world of the future, where there is a possibility both to implant in the memory of a person memories of anything, and to erase from it everything connected with the previous life.
Of course, the picture has different interpretations of its plot. The hero does save the planet Mars, receiving redemption for his past, which he does not remember. Or is it just because he is mentally ill? Or has he actually been implanted with memories, and he has already fantasized them? Whatever you look at the significance of what you see in the film, it only raises its significance for the genre of science fiction and the whole cinema.
Paul Verhoeven presented to the world perhaps his best work. And in all its so-called science fiction trilogy, which includes in addition to the considered films such as 'Robocop' and 'Starship Troops', it is this picture that has reached incredible heights of philosophical thought and immense satire on the life of all mankind. In all the above films, the director vividly demonstrates the inhumanity of a person for whom the life of his neighbor costs nothing, which is expressed in cruel and extremely easy murders of characters on the screen and deliberately screaming satirical ridicule, clearly presented in perfectly worked out worlds of the future.
'Remember Everything' - cult representative of science fiction, replete with the true truth about the state of affairs of human nature and humanity as a whole.
'And in the throat blobs of memories!' Or a classic of fantastic cinema!
Hello, everyone!
When was the last time you saw quality fiction on screen? I do not mean a revision of the classics, but a novelty. So that the film amazes with a plot, an incredible action, a confusing story. So you want to revisit the picture. That, that! There hasn’t been any good fiction on the screen for ten years. The last hope of the genre is Neil Blomkamp - 'priutich' and does not please us with his work. But what to do in such a hopeless situation, when not the directors, writers or producers are not interested in original ideas, but in money? That's right, revisit the classics!
Today, we will talk about the greatest film of the genre. About a film that will amaze any smart guy who thinks that nothing is cooler ' Transformers' there is and can not be. This masterpiece is the penultimate action movie of Arnie from 'Golden' era. And so, the legendary fantastic action movie by Paul Verhoeven... 'Remember everything', 1990 release.
I have to admit, when I saw the film for the first time, that is, at about 12 years old, I didn’t like it very much and I didn’t understand anything. I thought the script was too clever. But after reviewing this masterpiece a year ago, I realized how wrong I was.
Many people know that the film should shoot Cronenberg, but he left the project because of the long shooting, and returned to his legendary '. But the influence of the crazy Canadian can be seen with the naked eye. Of course, I'm talking about 'cute' Martian oppositionists. But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves, and, as usual, first analyze the plot of the picture. Let's go!
Plot. As I said, for a twelve-year-old, it seemed unbearable. No, I liked some of the elements, but overall it felt bad. After all, I thought I was maliciously deceived! They said it was a masterpiece, but in fact... Oh, I was wrong!
2048. Ordinary builder Doug Quaid, abruptly becomes not nice life. His imagination is tormented by dreams in which he walks on the Red Planet. And one day, on public transport, he learns that there is a company called Rekoll, which is engaged in implanting artificial memories in memory. She promises an amazing adventure full of danger and extreme! Doug decides to try. Friends warned him that it would not end well. But Quaid is looking forward to being a secret agent on Mars.
But it's not going according to plan. After his memories are implanted, strange things begin to happen: chases, shootouts, terrible secrets. Quaida wants to kill his own wife! Or not the wife? Or not Quaid? What if he is the Martian James Bond and everything else is fiction? To save his life, Doug must remember everything as quickly as possible.
As you can see, the plot here is confusing and fascinating, something reminiscent of the future Fincher, who will break into the Cinema a few years later. Puzzle on the puzzle, fake memories, eternal ' running with obstacles ' and unexpected plot twists, just do not allow to turn away from the screen!
Actors. Yes, it's just 'star harvest'! Arnie, the hot Sharon Stone, Roni Cox (he plays a role similar to ' Robocop') and Michael Ironside, playing the role of a far from charming guy... Everyone played the way most actors played in those days: with a soul! In general, the acting here is at a high level!
Also from familiar faces, we can observe Marshall Bell ('Star Troops', 'Diggstown duel') and Roy Brocksmith ('Fear of Spiders', 'Tango & Cash').
Special effects. Here we are, to the strongest place 'Remember everything '! A visual that evokes nostalgia in a person from another time. By the way, is it normal - nostalgia for an era in which you did not live, and - ha - ha? Even if you do not remember the plot, then you will never forget the action and special effects. The whole visual here, you can say, the continuation of the plot: here you and cyberpunk, a little horror in the end, robots and machines of the future. And, of course, there is a huge influence of Mr. Cronenberg! Look at the inhabitants of Mars and you will understand everything.
As befits a cult film, there are many memorable scenes. Three of them, you will never forget. Schwarzenegger discovers 'Kinder' in his nose; a legendary moment with a dissolute woman who has, so to speak, an amazing body defect; the appearance of the leader of the resistance Cuado.
The absolute classic of fiction, and the entire Cinema. The film, which once again proved the talent of Verhoeven as a director, and Schwarzenegger as a cool actor. ' Remember everything' Reminiscent of a roller coaster, with unexpected ' loops' plot and portion of adrenaline.
Vanguyu: Decades later, the film will not be forgotten by the next generation. Maybe they’ll be watching the movie on Mars, who knows. But the fact remains that the film is still alive thirty years later, loved and revisited.
Another proof that a true cinema will never die. We just need to remember everything.
The greatest film, the highest rating!
Good luck, everyone, watch a good movie!
P.S. '- How long will you be here?
- Two weeks.
- Did you bring any fruit or vegetables with you?
- Two weeks.
- What?
- Two weeks, two weeks, two weeks. '
Moving into the unknown reveals a hidden curiosity as to whether anything will come next. Relying only on luck and relying on all your abilities. And you don't expect a happy ending, because the path goes through the unknown. And you try to figure out where the mistakes are, because of not returning and reaching your final. Only what it will be is again unknown. And you have to get into trouble to overcome your incomprehensible goal. Why do you do that if you can’t answer the question yourself? You have your own truth, and to lead you astray will be a test of your loyalty. With a slight hindrance in the form of a leap in memory failure.
Idealizing my utopia again to find a way out of it into the endless world of open madness. Then, creating a new discovery, you run for your final, leaving no pity for obstacles. And what else is needed for open justice but a disregard for changing the idealization of the whole main goal? Only she keeps going into the unknown. Showing if everything is right. That somewhere can and hides a secret, because of which there is a failure on the way. And it’s too late to leave and you draw the perfect plan in your head again, because this is the best incentive to solve the problem. No one is going to stop you because it’s impossible. And for that, you have to remember everything.
Philip Kindred Dick is an outstanding science fiction writer whose literary works begin to play with new colors when translated into film format. “Changing reality”, “Minority opinion”, “Screamers”, “Blade Runner”, “The Hour of Retribution”, “The Prophet” and of course “Remember everything”. I think everyone who watched his film adaptation noted how rich his imagination was!
Total Recall is one of the first Hollywood films by Paul Verhoeven, whose RoboCop so pleased Schwarzenegger that Arnie acted as a protégé for the Dutch creator. The plot of the film revolves around Douglas Quaid (Schwarzenegger), who constantly dreams that he was on Mars. Going to a company that provides customers with memories of anything the customer wants. After Quaidu is injected with the drug, preparing him for immersion in memories, Quaid becomes furious, after which he begins to hunt. The pursuers are convinced that he knows about something that is happening on Mars, and Quaid himself tries to remember everything, but in vain – the memory does not return.
Hiding from brutal killers, he goes to the Red Planet and approaches the solution of everything that happens to him.
As in “Star landing” in 1996, also shot by Verhoeven here you can see the themes of militarism (in “Star landing” it is more obvious) and totalitarianism. The Vilas Cohagen Corporation (the main antagonist), which controls Mars, is literally an invader, pursuing one single goal - to increase its own power by suppressing those who interfere with it. Mass raids on residential areas, a large number of murders and the most real torture (by another stop of the ventilation system and not to name) are commonplace for Kohagen, who for the sake of the resources of the planet is ready to kill hundreds. Plus, quite an indicative form of the local security service, by the way, as in "Desante" performed in gray tones.
A distinctive feature of Verhoeven’s films of the late 80s and early 90s can be called excessive bloodliness. That RoboCop, that the above projects were full of violence and incredibly bloody. Perhaps the director himself tried to give them the most saturated crimson tones, admiring rivers of blood and lacerations from shots on the bodies of victims.
For its time, "Remember All" has good special effects, and the world of the future (the action takes place in 2084) is recreated so that the viewer from the first minutes could understand that the action is not unfolding in our days. Futuristic cars and residential buildings, robot taxi drivers, flights to Mars as on an ordinary plane on the route Omsk-Moscow, the latest means of communication - videophones - as an integral attribute of each room and even machines - in short, everything says that this is the future. However, at the same time, Paul Verhoeven emphasizes that manual labor, despite the achievements of science and technology, remains in demand (Kuyed’s work on the quarry) and is a kind of pleasant echo of the past, allowing a person not to finally turn into a sofa creature.
Like many films of that time, latex dolls are fully involved here, which, although they are as close as possible to real people in appearance, but still betray their unnaturalness. This is especially clear when Quaid pulls a sensor out of his nose or when a roundup of a full woman in a yellow coat begins at the Mars airport. These "mannequins" look quite disgusting, but still are a universal tool for it is possible to properly mock the human body without disfiguring real people.
“Remember everything” is a worthy fantastic action movie with a cool selection of actors, excellent visual effects and of course a strong plot. Plus, this is a film where Arnold Schwarzenegger again flexes his muscles and demonstrates real animal power. This movie is a pleasant echo of almost 30 years ago, with periodic viewing of which there is a strong desire to watch Verhoeven’s early films, and, of course, action films with the participation of the legendary Arnie.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
When I was 12 years old, the main supplier of films for me was the local cable TV in our city. I watched everything with Arnie back then. He was my absolute favorite. In addition to the Terminators, I was very impressed by this painting by Paul Verhoeven based on a story by Philip Dick. A lot of scenes from this movie stuck in my memory. Arnie ran through the impressive futuristic landscapes of Mars of the future, and Sharon Stone in the role of his wife already drew attention to herself (as well as a mutant with three breasts, he-he-he).
The picture still makes an impression. It had a huge budget of $65 million. With the scenery of the futuristic future tried, and ideologically it is not a thoughtless fantastic action movie. Still, the script is based on the work of Philip Dick, one of the main visionaries from fiction of the 20th century.
For Arnie, the role of Doug Quaid was one of the best. It is clear that the actor’s action potential is used to the fullest, but Arnold also played several comedy scenes perfectly (and the episode with the phrase “Consider it a divorce” is generally masterpiece). Also good are Sharon Stone, Michael Ironside, Ronnie Cox. Unless Rachel Tikotin as Melina looked a little faded to me.
A true classic of film fiction by Paul Verhoeven. What is it for Doug Quaid reality or dream answer is not yet.

Verhoeven wrapped the almost Freudian problem in a new shell, which attracted attention.
Imagine you've built this new self, this new, better version of yourself. For example, they left their dying village and entered a good university. But after a few years you realize that you are still drawn into this dirt, at first you do not even understand why.
And going back there, you want to go back to that old self, but the new self doesn't want to, because it thinks it's better; it doesn't recognize your old friends either, it cuts off your shoulder and leaves behind burnt bridges to the past.
And then this new I see myself before and wonder, "Can I be like this?"
Verhoeven chose, in my opinion, a very correct tactic to implement his film project. It’s called sarcastic humor (“We’re divorced”). This helped the hero not to descend to self-pity and male tears in the frame, falling on the relief muscles of Arnie. But the technical side Verhoeven did not put in the center of the picture, as, for example, Ridley Scott in his “Martian”, which would destroy the artistic component of the film. Verhoeven has a lot of technical things in the film, but the camera only glides with a quick glance, like in the old Soviet “Solaris”, thereby further highlighting the problems that thousands or millions of couples discuss in the office of a psychologist: I am married to a blonde, why do I dream of brunettes?
The hero gathers courage and goes looking for an answer. I don’t think anyone would have played this role better than Arnie. His face sometimes remains stone in those moments in which the modern viewer expects an explosion of emotions even from a male hero, but the hero Arnie has iron nerves. Most importantly, he knows what he wants. If something is not dreaming, then the problem must be solved. Radical.
It may not be the best fiction of the nineties, but it is definitely the most outstanding film of Paul Verhoeven, where his directorial career reached the peak of fame. In this film starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Rachel Ticotin, Sharon Stone and Ronnie Cox, and Jerry Goldsmith wrote an excellent musical accompaniment. What a joy that the director skillfully used the capabilities of actors and composer, showing the world grandeur.
Everyone’s favorite “iron Arnie” here is quite familiar for him the role of a freedom fighter. But if the Terminator is an emotionally devoid thug, then Douglas Quaid turned out to be as alive as possible. Perhaps, in this film, Arnold manifests himself best as an actor. He not only knows how to frown eyebrows, but also to portray anxiety. Douglas is a man with an amazing destiny who drives himself into a trap, succumbing to greed and becoming a traitor. Laurie’s insidious look leads to the suspicion that something is wrong here. The future is not a utopia, as part of humanity has been forced to move to Mars, where life is fraught with great dangers. Douglas can make things right, but to do so, he will need not only to deal with traitors, but also with memories in his own head. The advanced technologies that fill this fantastic world endanger the life of any person, and the fight against totalitarianism acquires particularly bright shades.
The film cannot but be praised for the magnificent scenery, which still look surprisingly realistic. There is no doubt that this is the future and another planet. Make-up work is also on top. Because of the small capabilities of computer graphics of those times, mutants had to be created using improvised means. The same applies to giant drilling rigs. The explosions on the mountainside turned out to be incomparable, just like real ones.
In addition to the main characters, minor characters play Michael Ironside, Mel Johnson and Dean Norris. In addition, Priscilla Allen remains in memory for a long time with her impressive smile and crazy look.
However, I highly appreciate this film not so much for the entertainment and messages, but for the amazing insight of Douglas, which he simply amazes in the final. This is a zest that has been appreciated at all times. “Remember everything” combines all the features of quality cinema from actors and music to the plot and excellent visual component. This film came out at a time when the production of Hollywood could really please.

I saw the picture recently, and in general I can say that the tape was successful. In the film, literally all components look unusual, from the visual component to the action.
The visual component - a rubber head-explosives, scanning a person to the skeleton cavity, a double hologram, the terrain where mutants live, protruding eyes outside the main characters without protection, the view of Mars - all this makes a special impression.
Features. The service of receiving or embedding memories, in addition to the options of becoming a different person, looks quite original. Fights between the characters look very impressive. Mass shootings fit well into what is happening.
But there is something uncomfortable about the film. The plot, in some places, seems not quite clear. But the atmosphere here is quite attractive, immerses with special interest. Acting. They performed well with their roles Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone. The characters are opposite, but harmoniously combined together.
"Remember everything" is an interesting fantastic action movie, made at a good level. Yes, there are shortcomings here, but there are many positive things here. This illusion becomes a dream for the main character, flowing into life. The picture deserves attention and I approve of it.
There are films that are exciting and you are so interested to follow what is happening that you completely immerse yourself in the world created by the director. Very rarely, the cinema pleases with such surprises and often we are fed a straightforward, gray, dry and simply boring plot that flies out of our minds immediately after watching. You need to have a real talent to make the viewer admire what is happening and... Okay, I won’t bother you: “Remember All” by Paul Verhoeven is just such a movie!
Watching this film, I admired the work done and enjoyed every minute of the tape. Perhaps its most important plus is a non-standard and original story - I have never seen such an idea anywhere and I have never thought of such an idea. Some elements of the plot have already been used before - the same chip with erased memory has clearly flashed more than once, but the way we were presented with this idea ... That’s amazing, and that’s where the originality lies.
At the same time that the movie seems original, came another plus: it is unpredictable! Films whose outcome is very difficult to predict today's canopy of gold and thank Paul Verhoeven for the fact that his creation boasts such dignity. There’s a lot going on in the movie and I couldn’t tell how one of them would end, because everything is possible in this movie. In addition, I changed my view of the local plot several times - for a miserable minute and a half I was able to completely rethink my vision of the plot and then return to my previous perception, in other words: Verhoeven plays with the viewer, first says one thing, and then gives the opposite of it - so that you understand, "Remember Everything" is far from simple and it is a kind of challenge to the viewer. So that he tried to come up with his own version of the outcome of what is happening and believe me - you can not even try!
Another, undoubtedly significant detail related to the plot is its dynamics. I think I’ve already said that it’s hard to get away from the screen, which is no wonder: there’s a lot of stuff going on in the movie. A lot of events and action, and the latter moves the plot. During the fighting scenes, the plot develops and acquires a new color, so do not consider that half of the picture is meaningless chases and fights. And it is worth admitting that they were executed at a high level - with the inherent cruelty of Verhoeven.
What’s a good story without interesting characters? I love Arnold Schwarzenegger and he's in his repertoire. Charismatic, brutal, causing a smile, in general, as always. There is one small flaw with him, or rather, with his character: I found it strange that he did not react at all to events that in real life would cause a real shock to a person. I will not go into this here, but will say that it would be desirable to go deeper into this point. But it doesn’t spoil the hero, and even the movie! Sharon Stone, expectedly, showed the upper class and played a rather contradictory (who watched, he will understand) character - every shot with her is beautiful. Do not forget about Rachel Tikotin, who played the girlfriend of the main character. Their love looks a little cliche, but it’s not scary. Villains also do not disappoint and inspire fear, but in their plan, coincidences, luck and strained moments slip through – so that everything is also not so smooth.
“Remember Everything” is not a perfect film – I told about a couple of minuses, but here it is worth adding some funny gaffes, flaws and other moments that I just most likely missed, but these minuses seem small insects, against the background of huge, fat pluses, in the form of: an original, unpredictable and dynamic plot, high-quality action scenes, interesting characters, and the atmosphere is worked out for glory! Also, do not forget that this film was a breakthrough in the development of special effects, and here you can even close your eyes to two or three moments where the movie sags! It’s a great movie and it’s not for nothing that it has gained such fame.

The year 1990. Remember everything.
I’m familiar with almost all of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s movies, but that movie somehow passed me by. I saw it in pieces, and for some reason I never wanted to see the film in its entirety. So I decided to correct this unfortunate mistake. Probably not.
Douglas Quaid, in search of new experiences, decides to use the services of the company "Recall". Despite a colleague’s warning that it could lead to memory loss, Douglas decided to try. And suddenly implanted memories collide in his head with something else.
He didn’t touch me then, he didn’t do it now. Maybe partly because I don’t like space fiction. And remember all the bright representative of this genre. I can't say the movie is bad. Here is everything that is required for a quality fighter. But it was the deviation into fiction that became a stumbling block for me.
Pretty good visual effects. Although for 1990 it was a tower (the Oscar was not just won). But now, for obvious reasons, it looks weak. I will not lower my grade for that. It is well done and well done even in our time. There are a couple of moments that cut your eye with your old age, but you do not pay much attention to this already.
But the rest of the film drags a relatively good plot and acting. If the first is a good adaptation of the novel by Philip Dick, then the second can be talked about for a long time. It is clear that in those years without Arnie anywhere to shoot the action films, but here he fit into the role. A perfect hit in the image. You can also mention Rachel Tikotin and Sharon Stone.
Like both fans of action movies and fans of fiction. Unfortunately, I can not take myself to the latter, so the film did not come to me. But it didn't affect the assessment.
In those distant years, when flights to Mars seemed beyond fiction, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Charlize Theron were standards of beauty, and until recently "Remember everything" was just a movie on a constant repit. To stir the consciousness of distant planets, to reflect on the journey through the galaxy, which seems not so far away as for us, for example, flights on the planet Earth. And the director Paul Verhoeven masterfully managed to shoot an exciting picture that captures consciousness no less than the Matrix itself. It is not for nothing that they received an Oscar for special visual effects, because then we could not yet think about what could be a flat screen with a full wall at home or the same holographic people with whom you can play tennis and robot taxi drivers.
The services provided on the market are already far beyond fiction, so a company like "Total recall" no one is surprised. Why pay more for tourism when you can sit comfortably in a chair and get a fresh batch of memories? It is not less realistic than what can happen to you. So says Bob MacLaine (Ray Baker) masterfully promoting his "product". Douglas Quayed (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is already tormented by nightmares and his sexy beautiful wife Lori (Sharon Stone) tries to convince him that it is not really necessary to strive to become someone if he has already become the man she loves and she can give him everything he wants. After working a little on a mining mine, he goes to a brilliant virtual reality office. This is where the most interesting thing begins.
He captures his twists of the plot, after which you can easily start to paranoid. Even together with the sound series, which immerses you in the atmosphere of cosmic reality, for this special thanks to the composer Jerry Goldsmith. Prepare to travel to Mars. Where red light and color great envelope the consciousness of people, and it is immediately clear that the people who live there are not of this world. The government, rebels, conspiracies – all these elements of the militants will appeal to men who love militants and political troubles. And the beauty with a character - Malena (Racell Ticotin) is not inferior to the very wife of Douglas. The main antagonists - Vilos Cohagen (Ronnie Cox), to whom I since childhood cannot forgive the cruel and ruthless murder of goldfish and Richter (Michael Ironside). Joking. There are crimes that cannot be washed away with water. There are many colorful characters in the film. Whether it is a dwarf, a woman with three breasts, a mutant Benny (Mal Johnson Jr.), and listing all of them makes no sense. The main events of course revolve around the main character. And how his eyes bulge from the lack of oxygen on another planet, or how he is forced to stick a round ball in his nose, or from a spectacular fight with an entire army. Arnold was paid $10 million for the role. He can really suggest that he can defeat an army of enemies. But is it so easy if you don’t know who you really are?
Sorry, Doug, but your life is just a dream.
But if I'm not me, then who am I?
If you get acquainted with the film adaptation of the work of Phillip K. Dick “For you we can remember everything”, then I would advise this version. Despite the fact that it is old, it has more drive and naturalness that, unlike the modern, stuffed with special effects release of 2012, it is unclear why filmed, albeit with no less attractive actors.
When only praises come to mind, it is difficult to write a review. But I'll try. This is not just a fantastic action movie from the dashing 90s. This is an immortal hit, in fact, which is a free adaptation of a fantastic story, but which has not received malicious criticism, which is most often received by free film adaptations, especially the most famous literary masterpieces; and universal respect, a lot of positive reviews, fully deserved by such a good picture showing the ideal of fantasy of those years and not only: in terms of the dynamic plot and spectacular special effects the film gives odds to many modern paintings of this genre.
In addition to the presence of one of the favorite Hollywood actors, known as the strongest man in the world, the film is primarily impressed by his brilliant idea and its worthy embodiment. The plot is quite clear, although it is replete with many turns, pleasant surprises, each of which the viewer does not expect. And, if you think that the coolest turn is that the trips to Mars, which are dreamed by the hero of Arnold Schwarzenegger, turn out to be a reality after he comes to the virtual attraction to get an unforgettable experience, and gets into a dangerous game, then you are mistaken. The film will not tire of delighting you with a variety of adventures, and an abundance of characters, standing on opposite sides of the barricades, and an incredible action that was difficult to show when computer graphics just began to appear in American cinema. The picture, which begins with a visit to the main character of the attraction, the advertising of which shouts about the ability to give memories of what was not, itself can be called a movie attraction. One of Arnie’s best roles, along with the Terminator trilogy and the first Predator. Truly brilliant movie, which is able to please every fan of fiction.

Paul Verhoeven is definitely the creator of something extraordinary and at least peculiar. In this aspect, it can be safely compared with Tarantino, Nolan and some less well-known directors, with whom Paul shares a special concept of films, and a non-standard approach to directing, which is expressed in the use of a lot of original artistic techniques and chips. The movie "Remember Everything" was no exception. This is excellent fiction with incredible aesthetic expressiveness, detail and beauty of the futuristic world, the dominance of grotesque and contrasts, charismatic heroes and an interesting plot.
The story here, at first glance, is not particularly intricate, but thanks to the smooth development of the plot, it becomes increasingly confusing and heats up the intrigue closer to the middle. The plot itself has quite a clear similarity in ideas to other great films like Inception and The Matrix, but the implementation of this idea is quite different. The emphasis of the director is not so much on thinking about the problem of the “brain in the bulb”, or someone else’s consciousness in your body, as on the values of the human person, in whatever body it is not. The character of Schwarzenegger Quaid with his charisma and behavior largely managed to convey the awareness of his new body and his new reality, managed to convey those feelings and emotions that dominate a person who learned that his life is just another’s dream. The fictional world in which Quaid lived in a dream turned out to be as alive and realistic as possible. When I watched it, I really believed it wasn’t a dream and everything Quaid was going through was real. This was facilitated by the presence of magnificently written characters: Quaid’s wife performed by beauty Sharon Stone played very naturally. I really believed it was his wife, and their relationship has been quite long. I believed that everything that happened was real. Therefore, the next plot twist, and then the final twist made an indelible impression on me, after which I wanted to revisit this story again and again to delve deeper into it. There was also a social connotation in the picture, illustrated by the example of Cohaagen’s tyranny towards the poor inhabitants of the colony on Mars. In general, Paul Verhoeven likes to raise such topics in his films, which is worth only RoboCop. And here this idea came to the place, although not presented as gracefully and satirically as in "Robocop".
The atmosphere of the film is infinitely good, in many places replete with surrealism and contrasts. Very colorful mutants, over the origin of which you sometimes think, the original transport, eccentric locations, high-tech devices - all this is perfectly combined and creates the necessary contrast with quite ordinary places of entertainment, the ordinary routine of the familiar world. Very delivered all the visual effects for which the film deservedly won the Oscar. In fact, Mars is more beautiful than ever. Amusing and interesting, chicly staged fights and shootouts, which in combination with cruelty only added to the film sharpness and emphasizes the style of the grotesque. It is worth paying tribute to the humor, without which the tape would be well too gloomy. Some comic situations harmoniously fit into the overall concept and well emphasized the corporate style of the director.
Resume: chic fantastic action movie, beautifully shot, with a beautiful original plot and Iron Arnie in addition. Trust the buzz.
This film is one of the gems in the collection of the so-called “actionaries of the 90s”. I watched it for the first time on television. There is everything - femme fatale, intrigue, conspiracies, chases, shootouts, magnificent actors, and, of course, Mars.
Humanity has been beckoning Mars since ancient times. Here we see Mars already mastered by man. A simple construction worker, Douglas, wants to get there, just see what's going on. But his wife categorically does not want to go. But in the world of the future, there is a way out – fake memories! A small procedure - and you have been anywhere, and even for a reason, but as a secret agent.
But what if you are a secret agent?
The film has excellent dynamics, decent effects, an interesting plot.
I think to tell a lot about it is to spoil the impression for those who have not seen this masterpiece. I don’t think anyone will regret watching this movie. Of course, it has flaws, but this is inherent in any film. Here, the advantages override any shortcomings. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of the nineties!
Science still doesn’t know if there is life on Mars. It would be interesting to imagine the reaction of mankind, if the sprouts of an alien civilization still found on the red planet. It is no secret that many highly developed countries are cramped within their current borders. Therefore, there is no doubt that there is a technological possibility to colonize the Martian deserts – no alien elements would be a hindrance. Mars is an exceptionally fertile ground for science fiction, and Paul Verhoeven’s brilliant action movie is one of the most characteristic examples of the impact of human civilization on new territories. From the original source, the novel by Philip K. Dick, there is little left, but “Remember All” was one of the best films of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the heyday.
Happiness or its illusion?
It’s funny to hear a man in his 40s suddenly ask, “What have I accomplished in life?” What does hard-working Doug Quaid have? A charming wife with a duty morning smile and muddy work with the eternal roar of jackhammers. Boredom can eat the owner to the very bottom. When life evolves into a routine, something has to change. Dreams of Mars are haunting. Even in the filmed future, people have not yet learned how to program dreams, and no one knows what the subconscious mind throws up the next night. Living under illusions is a heavy burden. Doug is slightly afraid of his own doubts, but he feels the strange falsity of his Lori.
Dreams or reality?
If the Memories Corporation really existed, there is no doubt that it would be in great demand. After all, it is damn tempting to try to become a person with a new destiny, bright and interesting. So what if it's self-deception? The main problem is that invading the cerebral cortex, people poorly calculate their capabilities. Out of control, the subject is a terrible enemy. And the powerful Doug Quaid is doubly terrible. He's confused, furious and discouraged. "My name is not Quaid!" he growls. Man cannot remember himself or his past. It is unlikely that the leadership of “Memories” faced such an emergency situation. They say horror at the end is better than terror without end. The house, the beloved wife - everything becomes a stranger and completely incomprehensible, but the spring of a first-class action movie joyfully opens. It’s no secret that some fantastic pictures look ridiculous years later. In his vision of the distant future, Verhoeven is not banal. Only futuristic cars are worth it! And the robot taxi driver with his cheerful whistle is almost the face of the whole picture.
Colony or home?
How beautiful he is! In fact, it is not Venus to imagine our future colony with its acid rain! Mars Verhoeven is charmingly spectacular. Giant kilometer mountains, tunnels pierced in them, human settlements sparkling with fires and the elusive smell of death, because there is nothing to breathe on the surface of the planet. It is on a rusty red planet that Doug Quaid or Houser is looking for answers to countless questions. It’s a funny message from the hotel itself. If we had the opportunity, we would certainly protect ourselves from future trials. But the endless maze of doubts now will not let the ex-builder go. What did the Earth colonizers turn Mars into? Some kind of mixture of research institutes, industry and brothels. The feudal essence of human society is shown in all its glory. The technology of the future has reached such a level that it is possible to build a small paradise for the powerful. But in fact: another variation on the theme of master and slaves. Whose side does Quaid/Hauser want to be on? Everything seems obvious: he gave himself a task, the target is defined and even allies exist. Only the allies see him as a stranger, which does not contribute to solving the puzzle. Fortunately, unsurpassed combat skills are the best argument in controversial situations. Herr Schwarzenegger, to be sure, is very good. In magnificent physical form, with far from poor facial expressions and remarkable charm, Arnie allowed Verhoeven to sculpt the ideal savior of the needy.
Production or Hunter?
To match Schwartz and opponents. Two mascots of the Supreme films: Ronnie Cox and Michael Ironside. Both are not insanely pumped bodybuilders, but rather ordinary appearance men who equally skillfully fall in love with the viewer. Master and Cerberus. He who thinks and he who is not commanded to think. From Cohaagen and Richter comes a good bunch, but it is easier for them to act separately.
Quaid, why don't you and Melina come to my party?
- See you at the party!
They say the same thing and the accent is different. For Kohaagen, Quaid will always remain a dangerous competitor, because knowing a lot is harmful to health. Richter's confrontation with Doug is much more interesting. Only a woman can cause such an animal hatred of one another. It's not entirely clear which of the boss's people is more connected to Lori, but the psychopathic killer in love is an interesting specimen anyway. In the desire to get rid of the imaginary husband of his mistress, Richter becomes truly insane, otherwise he would become a worthy enemy for the cool revolutionary Quaid. Cohaagen is a classic example of a man intoxicated by power. The position allowed him to become a small incarnation of God on Mars. Verhoeven correctly defined the nature of the threat to the protagonist. In the distant future, it would be very stupid to clarify relations purely on fists, and a strategically thinking opponent is a completely different matter.
Beloved or hidden opponent?
The female question in Verhoeven’s painting is one of the most intriguing. It wouldn’t have been Sharon Stone in Remember Everything, it wouldn’t have been Basic Instinct. This fact is well known, but it should be noted that the sexy blonde set the rhythm of one of the main waves of the whole film. Lori's fight with Melina is not a sight for the impressionable. It makes me smile that Quaid preferred the mulatto, but here is the laws of the genre. But Melina’s metamorphoses, with her faith / distrust in Hauser, left the impression of playfulness. And the leader of resistance to the tyrannical regime, she somehow does not pull. Comparing the scale of Rachel Tycotin’s personality with Sharon Stone is ridiculous. On many careers, "Remember All" has had a beneficial effect, but not on the mulatto, so her appearance in this picture looks like a vulnerable place.
Only action or classic genre?
For a whole decade in Hollywood, the definition of “movie with Schwarzenegger” flourished. Scenarios were different, secondary actors were rarely repeated, and the only thing that remained unchanged was a verbose swagger, who of course would beat everyone, shoot them, and save the good ones. Many paintings of that time look only “old school” action films, designed to dispel nostalgia for time gone. But "Remember everything" is definitely out of the ordinary. Fantastic action can be intelligent, let’s not forget The Terminator. Schwarzenegger is not in vain, almost by the hand seated Paul Verhoeven in the director's chair. Created by the talent of the Dutch film and to this day meets all the requirements of a quality action movie.
10 out of 10
From Philip Dick’s rather short and concise story “We Can Remember It for You Wholesale”, which somewhat schematically tells us about the adventures of the inconspicuous clerk Kuyel, director Paul Verhoeven drew a large-scale interplanetary thing. Dick’s story carries an idea, rather even a capacious concept, not very detailed and detailed, but quite clear and consistent. Verhoeven took this concept and with his inherent bloody-futuristic scale created one of the brightest examples of American fiction.
My generation watched this film on cassettes in the '90s, and then all those impressive mutants, the red deserts of Mars and the bulging eyes of the heroes seemed something incredible to us. After reviewing the film recently, I realized that it is still quite fresh (and not all contemporaries can boast of this), ironic, and this favorite Verkhovna Rada hypertrophied cruelty, as cynical would not sound, is now perceived as a breath of fresh air in the atmosphere of modern cinema 12+. And Schwarzenegger on the screen does not seem quite catastrophically wooden.
In the film in general quite a lot of all sorts 'chips'. All these existential journeys over the heads of Kuyed-Hauser, pulling the transmitter out of the nose, constantly shifting accents of perception of the main character, the legendary aphoristic Arnold humor, Martian taverns and brothels, a rather qualitatively built futuristic world, not crutchy, not crumbling before the eyes, without a pile of superfluous details, but dense and without blunders, in a nicely vulgarish way (as it was usually in the 90s), plus classical concentrated villains and Cohageners (now a special class).
Interestingly, the film “Remember everything” is not an example of deep-thinking science fiction and has no special drama. The same "Minority opinion" or "Blade Runner" in this respect and genre, and stylistically look much more filled. But Verhoeven is not Spielberg, so you have to understand that “To Remember Everything” is an absolutely entertaining movie with Schwarzenegger. But this is not a bad thing, because the film does not look devalued and purely chewy either. Naive, but bright, bloody, but strangely enough, charming.
In general, a strong movie, which is valuable not so much with a nostalgic atmosphere as with quality content.
2048. Worker-builder Doug Quaid intends on his next vacation to use the services of a fashion entertainment company, offering a new unusual kind of virtual experience. The company is ready to transfer its client to any point of the Earth and even the universe, while not bothering him with any physical exertion associated with moving in space.
Already in the process of brain processing, Quaid realizes that he is not who he previously thought he was. A simple construction worker suddenly manages to remember that he is none other than a secret agent who had his memory erased. And now Quaid must make a self-proclaimed and therefore dangerous liberation mission to the Red Planet, where the locals are terrorized by a powerful corporation that has actually turned them into slaves.
After experiencing relative success with Robotic Cop (1987), Paul Verhoeven once again took on the fantastic plot, this time turning to the dystopian novel We Can Remember Everything for You by Philip Dick. The author gained authority in the cinema, primarily thanks to the Blade Runner - an innovative film adaptation of the story about "androids and electric sheep", carried out by director Ridley Scott in 1982.
Impressive scenery, innovative at that time in complexity special effects and sophisticated makeup Total Recall – all this predetermined the success of the picture and the rhythm of an exemplary action film. The authors to the last frame of this non-stop action manage to keep the audience in suspense, pretty tickling the nerves even in a shocking (and at the same time ironic-parody) denouement, so that only after it afford the duty happy ending.
It cannot be said that one of the budget record holders ($ 80 million at the time, all one that $200 today) was a huge success: having collected 119.4 million in the North American box office, he was in the national register only in seventh place in 1990. Ahead settled even such (very doubtful in artistic terms) monsters as “Mutants of the Turtle-Ninja” and “Hunting for “Red October”. However, another $140 million, “raised” in other countries, made the creation of the Upper Event one of the favorites of the world box office.
Today, against the background of the crisis of the genre, this futuristic blockbuster 14 years ago looks like a qualitative breakthrough, marking the beginning of a great era of new visuality - virtual (which "officially" approved the Academy Award for best special effects). Total Recall spurred the development of not only spectacular cinema, but also extended the life of the movie, which could be classified with a clear conscience as “smart entertainment”.
Doug Quaid is an unremarkable man living on Earth. He has a beautiful wife, friends, and a job for which the hero is well paid, but Doug dreams of more. He wants to know who this mysterious stranger appears in his dreams and why all Doug’s dreams are dedicated to Mars. And in order to satisfy his curiosity, Doug decides to go to the company with the sonorous name “Memories”, which specialize in creating artificial memories in which the simplest person can be a free trader, politician or even a spy. If you can’t get to Mars in the traditional way, why not go there in an unconventional way? All the same, memories will remain with the person, no matter how they were received. And everything would be fine, but Doug Quaid is actually a secret agent whose memory was erased, but as it turned out not to the end and now, after a trip to Memories, the hero of Schwarzenegger begins a real hunt. Close friends turn out to be enemies, security is willing to go to any lengths to see our hero dead, and the only clue about Doug's past is a mysterious briefcase of contents that unequivocally hints that it's time for the hero to go to Mars. Well, Doug got what he wanted, there was only one thing left - to survive.
You know, sometimes films come out, the title of which not only and not so much describes what is happening on the screen, but also gives the viewer practical advice and our guest today is just such a film. It would seem that the film by Paul Verhoeven came out in the distant nineties, at a time when Schwarzenegger, Stallone and Lungren were at the "top of the world" and not a day passed that the movies with their participation were not shown on TV, and in this regard, "Remember everything" was viewed ten times, no less. It would seem that what else can tell this fantastic action movie, because we already know everything about it? It turns out that, first of all, he will remind the viewer of why we fell in love with this film, and with it the hero of Iron Arnie.
And we loved this film for the fact that it smoothly and slowly told an interesting story about the conspiracy of greedy corporates who not only use people as consumables and pocketed technology that does not belong to them, so everything that happens was supplied with a shock dose of action. Explosions, chases, fights, all this in the film is set so beautifully and qualitatively that involuntarily fascinates. I’m not talking about Paul Verhoeven’s signature style, thanks to which what is happening looks extremely cruel and therefore realistic. Thus, each viewer got exactly what he wanted, fans of fantastic thrillers got another dystopia, where powerful corporations are trying to control everything, and the same people who counted on a good and exciting action movie got exactly what they wanted and even more.
Wait. And what about the actors? – asked the incredulous viewer. And I will say that the actors in the film are in order and each of them was in his place. That the fateful beauty of Lori performed by Sharon Stone, who is able to play any role, that on the screen, that in life, but if you look closely, it becomes noticeable that no matter how this beautiful young lady smiled to Doug, but in her eyes there is ice, and on her face no, no, but the desire to kill her “wife” slips. The head of security Richter, played by Michael Ironside. A man who, behind the mask of calm, restrains a violent temper to become a beast and who is ready to do anything for his own purposes, including the murder of civilians. Well, or the hero of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who favorably combines the role of both a cool guy capable of eating titanium scrap with his teeth, and a confused and frightened person who does not know what to do and where to go. Well, yes, and we should not forget the whiplashy phrases of Schwarzenegger, which have long been embezzled on quotes, where even without it. But separately, I would like to say a few words about the extras. It would seem that this is such a minor detail that you usually do not pay attention to, but in this film you pay, and even how, because in this film every actor is something unique, whether it is height, clothing or that the latter has any mutation. Here you look at what is happening and believe that this is a really living world where people live and survive every day, and not just beautiful scenery, but a bunch of extras, as is usually the case in such films.
As for the original book and the fact that it has undergone significant changes, this is normal practice in Hollywood, and not only there. Why is that? And all because books and films, although in many respects similar, but they are much and different, and if you try to follow the book verbatim, then such a product will appeal only to fans of the original work, and then I will not be able to vouch for it with absolute certainty. Therefore, as much as I love the novels of Philip Dick, I will say that this film is a free adaptation of the story of this talented science fiction writer, which follows not the letter, but the spirit of the book and successfully preserves both the atmosphere and the key idea of the source, and this is already a lot.
Summing up, I want to say that before us there is a beautiful fantastic action movie that has not lost its momentum even after almost twenty-five years. He's just as gnawing, funny and not stupid. It starred great actors of those years and I can confidently advise this film to all those who have not seen it, and those who have seen, why not review and not “remember everything”?

What can we say about Paul Verhoeven’s film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger? It is impossible to be completely objective here. First, a brilliant director with his own unique vision of each film. Secondly: the participation of one of the favorite actors, who invited Verhoeven to the project. Thirdly: the guys are the same “dashing 90s”, who gave us so many cult tapes of different genres and this film was no exception.
Perhaps the most important thing that catches the eye is the beauty Sharon Stone, although ... wait, remember, a realistic level of special effects, which allowed you to embody on the screen everything that the writers and director conceived. I must say, not in vain tried, having received a special Oscar for visual effects. Again, thanks to these same effects, the film is filled with all sorts of gadgets, as it is fashionable to say now, the use of which is curious to observe, especially watches with a hologram and “camouflage” stand out. In addition, the high implementation of special effects allowed to create many humorous moments that warm up the overall atmosphere, with which the film is completely orderly. In addition, amazing work makeup and costumers.
Regarding the plot: now he is certainly not full of delights, but at one time was very exciting, watching every closing gaps in the memory of Douglas Quaid and sincerely surprised by every plot twist, by the way, which was quite cool. Watching about brainwashing, amnesia, personality disorders is always difficult, but here all the events happened smoothly, gently, without causing a headache.
Let’s go back to Sharon Stone and her involvement. There was a double feeling: it seemed to be pleased with his presence, his game ... in tennis, but somehow ... small in my opinion, I did not have enough, and so without reproaches.
It is also impossible not to praise another favorite actor Paul Verhoeven "the owner of all his corporations" Ronnie Cox and "avid warrior" Michael Ironside. Again in their roles with perfect execution.
In conclusion, it is worth saying: as the first time I looked with great pleasure, as I watched several times with the same feeling, and again I looked with even greater pleasure.
The film adaptation of individual literary works has always been extremely ungrateful and risky. After all, it is not enough that you need to treat the source with great respect and please fans of the original work, so you need to bring your own creative style and please the ordinary ordinary viewer. It is especially difficult if this is a film adaptation of the work of cult science fiction writer Phillip Dick, which has always given a huge scope for creativity, but also the greatest difficulty in conveying the unique atmosphere and history of the science fiction works.
The director of the picture Paul Verhoeven this clearly succeeded. Not only that, the film almost immediately draws the image of almost the ideal adaptation of the cult novel by Phillip Dick “For you, we can remember everything”, but also represents a truly strong representative of the genre of fiction, which for more than two decades has pleased not only loyal fans who grew up on this film, but also a new sophisticated viewer.
The film primarily takes its atmosphere and unique dynamics. Verhoeven luxuriously alternates on the screen genres of fiction and thriller in an equally decent dosage. Thus, creating an image of a rather hard, gloomy, heavy and perhaps even heavy atmosphere of the tape, but at the same time, giving the film a unique dynamism and with such enthusiasm to tell everything that happens on the screen that you literally go with the main characters on a unique journey and dangerous adventures on Mars, and not content with their reflection on the screen.
The original novel by Phillip Dick is significantly revised in this film, but without reducing the dignity of the original story or this tape. Moreover, literally reflecting the dream of any ordinary person on the screen. After all, who among us did not want to be a cool special agent who performs a dangerous mission, goes to a distant red planet, has a connection with a luxurious beauty, defeats villains and saves not only the planet, but the whole world? This is the reflection of a man’s dream and represents the film. As if ideally playing the fantasies of each of us and the harshness of a quite ordinary and genre plot, the uniqueness of which beats a perfectly stunning finale. After all, it most strongly sharpens the desire of the viewer to find out whether all this really happened, or was it those programmed memories? The question remains open and this is the most impressive.
Visually, the film is just amazing. Perhaps against the background of this picture, the remake of Len Wiseman looks visually superior attraction, but even at the same time, the film Paul Verhoeven deserves to hold the title of strong fiction with a deep plot and stunning spectacle on the screen. Since Verhoeven again puts the film in the usual style with an abundance of very natural and cruel scenes on the screen not only in large numbers, but also with a huge number of corpses, blood and other visual tin.
Just amazing in the lead role looks Arnold Schwarzenegger. It is here that he even more strongly cements the title of a real action hero, but at the same time, abstracting this role from most of the roles of the actor in the popcorn of action movies and representing something more valuable. Michael Ironside and Ronnie Cox are insanely good in the images of the main antagonists of the picture. So much so that involuntarily you begin to imbue them with no less sympathy than with the main character. Rachel Ticotin and Sharon Stone are equally good, who perfectly dilute the entire cast and the film itself with their presence. At the same time, giving the viewer the opportunity to decide who in their opinion is the most beautiful in the framework of the story, a blonde or a brunette. As for me, points in favor of Stone, which once again well just luxuriously got used to the image of a femme fatale.

Remember everything is definitely one of the best adaptations of the work of the great science fiction writer Phillip Dick and a very strong fantastic thriller, which even after so many years looks with great pleasure. This film is nostalgia for bygone times and an ageless classic, which has long earned only flattering reviews from both viewers and critics.
I remember when I was a kid that movie was really cool and really fantastic. Now, of course, this movie is no longer relevant to many. But I recently revisited it after many years and also enjoyed watching it. Remember Everything is a fantastic, action-adventure 1990 film directed by Paul Verhoeven. His film was a success, and it turned out to be a powerful, original story.
We see a protagonist who discovers something new and realizes that he is not who he is. He finds himself on Mars, and sees that there is a very different life. We see an incredibly twisted fantastic story of a man who must remember everything and defeat his I and cruel enemies.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is a famous American actor with a memorable appearance and good acting talent. I loved watching movies with him as a child, and he always remains in my memory as a hero who always fought evil. In this action movie, Arnold was great, and this role was his. Rachel Ticotine is a hot and positive actress, and I noticed her a long time ago. I like her, and in this film Rachel made a beautiful duet with Schwarzenegger. Sharon Stone always goes well negative roles, and this role of her ball is also her. This film is not easy, purely fantastic and original. Watch “Remember everything”, and this action movie will take you into the life of one person who unexpectedly discovered incredible secrets that are hard to believe, moreover, he visited another planet called Mars.
P.S. It was a great ending and I remember it for the rest of my life.
