The main emphasis is on mutual help and support, and the emphasis is not only on the physically ill person, but reflects how a psychological illness can cripple. A good movie, unlike its "cronies" does not force you to use the whole pack of wipes. Imitates real life, there are funny moments, there are touching, all in the mix. in general, a great film, left a pleasant aftertaste.
If Pollyanna had cancer. Not all of her actions delighted me, not all of the "ridiculous" situations amused me. But a different view of the disease is that we can all help each other, no matter how bad it is for us, too.
Another film about seriously ill teenagers. But another! Light, energetic, humorous, much less tragic. Not a romantic, like "It's all the fault of the stars" - but about friendship, about attitude to life. I cried a little, but with a smile on my face.
Today we are going to talk to you about a moving film that tells the story of true friendship. The tape is notable for being great for easy evening viewing, although it deals with topics such as illness and death. Nevertheless, she does not burden, does not engage in moralizing and does not try to psychologically put pressure on the viewer.
Annotation
Avid hypochondriac Calvin (Asa Butterfield) meets a cheerful but terminally ill girl named Skye (Maisie Williams). This meeting and subsequent friendship change the lives of both.
What is this movie about?
Such films are liked by the audience and not very liked by film critics. And both categories of the audience can be understood: those who just want to see a touching story, and watch it, and those who have seen so much and now everywhere looking for originality, of course, will not be satisfied with what they saw. Well, everyone has their own.
In fact, the movie was enjoyable. This is something from the series “The Fault of the Stars” and “Me, Earl and the Dying Girl”, that is, the film exploiting the theme of dying teenagers who, unlike their parents and other adults, did not have time to live, which means that they should be much more miserable. At least that’s what I think.
Like the listed representatives of Western film production, 30 Mad Wishers (or "And Then You Came" - that's the original name for it), also uses the story of a young creature (an excellent, by the way, role of Maisie Williams from "Game of Thrones"), which is destined to soon leave our world. However, in this picture everything is much simpler, more relaxed and therefore, in my personal opinion, better. No one grabs the viewer by the throat and pokes his face into someone else’s grief, making him cry and empathize. On the contrary, the tragedy is presented in a light, unobtrusive way, which makes it less difficult to perceive and more welcoming. In the film there is no moralizing and idiotic twists that make the audience worry for nothing. Instead, we are offered a simple, rather cute life story, in which the emphasis is primarily not on love, but on friendship. Although there is also a place for romance in history, for which actress Nina Dobrev is responsible.
But it is in this construction that the problems lie. Due to the lack of at least some sharpness, the involvement of the viewer suffers, which may lack exciting moments and conflict situations. To put it simply, some people may find the film boring and passing. And "30 Mad Wishes" really in some ways more like not a full-length film, but a clip stretched for 97 minutes, which creates a feeling of underperformance and inferiority. Everything is so simple and simple.
Verdict
However, this is a case where I agree more with ordinary viewers than film critics. We are dealing with a cute film that definitely does not look like a failure compared to analogues from the past, and in some aspects surpasses them.
This is a good movie for evening viewing, which is obviously more suitable for romantic natures than for cynics.
How often do you think about how long you can live? How often do you appreciate the moment? How many items are on your wish list?
When I came across an excerpt in IGTV, the film immediately hit the first line – you need to watch. Correctly write, films about the dying and their thrash filmed not a little. Only one cult to reach heaven. .
Here the film is quite different and the main characters are almost everyone who is in the frame with the text. These are both Skye's parents and Calvin's parents and relatives. Personal tragedies. In general, life without sentiment, really. About life, about friendship, about love, about relationships and family. Not a primitive plot and a good quality frame.
Finished hypochondriac Calvin tried to feel his fever and even dropped out of college in the face of imminent death from some terrible sore. Anyway, he was a very unhappy kid. Until one day Skye's lighter jumped at him and dragged him to fulfill a list of her crazy desires. Because she has cancer in the fourth stage, and dying alone is very scary.
Movies about friendship and re-education in the face of imminent death is immeasurable and I can not say that this one is right. Moreover, it was made as a simple melodrama for schoolchildren, with the most smoothed angles on the topic of everything. Even death is pushed to the background, so the movie is more about growing up and self-determination. Well, about accepting the inevitability of the end of course - and Maisie Williams here burns with napalm, struggling to hide a quiet horror under the mask of exuberant joy from her crazy adventures and learning to cynically use universal self-pity. Well, what else to do with it - to tolerate the changed attitude of people to themselves is unbearable, and most of us simply do not know and do not know how to react correctly.
Special thanks for not sculpting a romantic line. Although Nina Dobrev was called in for this, which also looks odd, given her age difference with Asa. Well, God be with them, after all, the movie is not about that.
But the actors here are all cute, only because of them you can watch Well, the movie is damn glorious and sometimes even uplifting, take it boldly.

The story of the friendship of a terminally ill girl named Skye and a strange guy named Calvin who has too many cockroaches in his head. We have watched a movie about terminally ill people, about their feelings and the pain of parting with them. The idea itself, of course, is not new. But this story touches to the core.
First we see a guy who is constantly measuring his temperature, pulse, measuring moles and struggling to find non-existent diseases. But meeting the bright and cheerful Skye changes his life. I liked that it showed the friendship of the main characters. No hint of a romantic relationship. Only friendship. It is friendship that changes Calvin, it is for her that he ceases to think only of himself and begins to live.
Skye. Incredible Maisie Williams, my favorite since Season 1 'Game of Thrones' She's very different in this movie. A teenage girl who tries to get everything done while her heart is beating. From the outside, she seems strong and just cheerful, but the character of the girl is much deeper. With each screen minute, it opens to the viewer in a completely different way and you begin to see what is hidden behind these colorful wigs. Great acting by Macy!
A film full of emotions and feelings. There is laughter, tears, and love in all its manifestations. Beautiful movie.
In fact, the film continues the tradition of the best dramas about what to do when your time is really limited and you know it. Not many people understand that everyone has it limited and live as if it is still a car.
A little crazy and cheerful girl Skye, who hides behind her slightly strange gaiety, in fact, the same vulnerable and shy girl who was unlucky, but she was able to find strength and put protection in the form of laughter and joy that helps her live.
Calvin, a teenager with a difficult fate, who also hides behind fictional diseases, perhaps from the whole world, began to work as a loader in a car at the airport, while he never flew.
Such different, but close, meet and become, perhaps, best friends, and maybe a brother-sister.
Calvin’s love series with Elizabeth is well shown, about real people who value in each other not appearance, but character and its qualities.
On the one hand, the film is light, on the other hand, there are difficult moments. But it helps to think about all of us, definitely recommend everyone.
The director can say thank you, but I think the desires could have been expanded, this time, and the departure of the girl had to show, too modestly, although even so, it was very difficult and tragic, a lump in the throat appears.
General impression: We all have a purpose in life, a dream, a list of things to do. Skye (Maisie Williams) is a holiday girl who sees only the good in life. Or rather, in the short period of her life. During this time, she wants to fulfill her craziest desires. Calvin (Asa Butterfield) is a hypochondriac who sorts baggage at the airport, simultaneously inventing non-existent diseases. Together they will rediscover this world and themselves from very unexpected sides.
Two different people meet together, so it happens that people have completely different tastes, different characters, but they complement each other (usually for the better). And it's not necessarily love. In the film, the basis is friendship. For a short period in Calvin's life, Skye's appearance is a major event. She helped him understand important things, and in general guided him on the path, overcome himself and introduced Izzy (Nina Dobrev) to the girl of dreams. Well, Skye got a loyal friend who was able to share those 30 wishes with her.
The story itself is secondary, it has been on the screen many times. But when watching you can cry, but for the most part you rather catch a sad mood, although sometimes there is a smile on your face, in the plot you come across reality. And it's not as colorful as Skye's colorful hair. This is the grief of the parents, the consequences of chemotherapy in a girl, and the short time that is allotted. But despite all that I have listed, the tape looks easy, not burdening, and with such jumps it is sad, then cheerful, reminiscent of a roller coaster. Because of the bright colors and atmosphericity there is not that heavy sadness, rather sadness. So don't be afraid.
What does the movie mean? For a living. Which we have one and if you want to do something: learn to swim, eat 10 bars of chocolate, buy a dress on the floor, meet a girl – all this is possible. It is a pity that not everyone has such a Skye.

How many melodramas, dramas and comedies about dying people have not been commemorated, not to count, but how many have been filmed even more so. Most of these films are a typical “tear-crusher”, all the plot moves, scenarios and possible finale are known in advance, increasingly predictable, and from that already somewhat boring, no matter how many talented people play such a story in front of the viewer. And kind of like I just very accurately described the recent “30 crazy wishes” (Then Came You, 2018) – based on the trailer, kind of like a pass tape, a kind of teenage version of “Until I played in the box”, but something still hooked in the commercial, and made you look at the film, which pleasantly surprised, and, in turn, hooked no less.
Perhaps the attention was attracted by Maisie “Arya Stark” Williams – to look at the warlike heiress of the Stark house in an unusual role for her was very interesting, especially since it was on her heroine that the plot is tied. And it turned out great, she coped - this film is almost her benefit, the first work where almost everything is tied to her, largely because of the plot. I say “almost” because the others did a great job too, but they were later. The essence of the film is that one girl with cancer makes a list of various madnesses, new experiences and good deeds that she must do before she dies, and her friends help her realize all this. And everything revolves around her – she gives the former loser a taste for life, teaches people to appreciate life, solves their problems, changes them beyond recognition for the better, and finally teaches them to truly love. This is a kind and cute movie for people of the age of the main characters, life-affirming and giving the necessary impetus to those whose life has turned into a black and white canvas. Maisie Williams portrays a pretty active girl, exuding positivity and joy for the people around her, but at the same time suffering and fighting for her life. Similar characters can be seen often in the movies, but her character occupies quite a good position in their ranks, especially she manages to interact on the screen with Asa Butterfield (acquainted with “The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas”, where he first declared himself as a serious actor).
As for Butterfield - he is good as the main partner in the film for Williams (after all, he spends most of the time with her), and, oddly enough with his "puppy" appearance, looks organically in the company of beauty Nina Dobrev. The guy turns out to be a kind of universal “support group”, acting out the most difficult episodes with Williams and giving an opportunity for Dobrev to show their strong acting sides (in the plot, her heroine is sure that the guy also has cancer). Moreover, the love storyline, despite its secondary nature, turns out to be very interesting and fascinating due to the interesting relationship that Dobrev and Butterfield depict. Of course, only in the cinema such a novel could happen, but it allows people to still believe in miracles.
But first of all, this is not a melodrama, although every frame is permeated with romance, and the viewer worries about the development of relations between all the characters, especially for a dying girl who is truly sorry. Rest here gives only the hero of Ken Jong ("Bachelor party in Vegas), who, nevertheless, also makes you take a sad breath and watch as a girl of our age, or even younger, passes her last path in one direction, not knowing if there is something ahead for her. After fulfilling her last wishes, when the leaf, fantasy, and the opportunity to make something else, will end.

30 Crazy Wishers is a film made, certainly not for cynics. Well, obviously, the main audience of this project are romantic American teenagers, and in general, the youthful maximalist group of the film will like it. "Mad Desire" tries to join the cohort of films, in which the disease complicates the still forming lives of adolescents. The look at friendship, longing, loss came out, of course, warm, but the script is far from “The Fault in the Star”: the drama avoids the sincerity and intimacy of the characters, preferring to focus on Hollywood “sugar syrup”.
So, 19-year-old Calvin lives in a constant state of flux: he thinks he's sick. In fact, this is not the case - the guy is just an hippochondriac and spends a lot of money on expensive tests, constantly taking his temperature and groping himself in all sorts of interesting places. The only way out was voiced in the Fight Club: to look at those who are really bad. Instead of Marla Singer, Kelvin meets 17-year-old Skye. The seductive girl represents what Calvin will never be: concentrated stubbornness, courage and, ironically, she dies. Every moment a girl spends on what to realize desires from her list.
Strictly speaking, the script for 30 Mad Wishers turns in a somewhat unexpected direction, as the story here is not about Skye and Calvin’s blossoming romance, but rather her attempts to build happiness for her new friend. Yes, in the script there is a flight attendant Izzy, whom the young man is in love with, and Skye is seriously helping a guy with amorous affairs. It's an interesting move, but it's kind of weird: you're always waiting for a trick. Technically, there is a small plot twist associated with romance, but it is not particularly necessary for the film, as well as the heroine Izzy. Calvin goes through evolution without it, and the object of exhalation came out painfully artificial.
As for the implementation and details, the very embodiment of the script did not go far from this heroine. Throughout most of the timekeeping of 30 Crazy Wishes, it is mundane and lifeless. There are highlights, such as the character of Ken Jong, or strong dramatic scenes. However, in general, despite the warmth, thoughtful to call the film, well, it does not work. Something real is missing, which is why Desire fails to convey the spectrum of emotions of such a touching topic.
Thanks to the strong acting performances of young performers, 30 Mad Wishers and its sometimes predictable plot machinations, it works as it should. Maisie Williams, known for her specific appearance, portrays her character as attractive and vulnerable. Of course, it is possible to syronize and that Asa Butterfield tried to spin schews with both sisters Stark (only the actor noted in “Time obsessed”), but here the young man can not shine except with his puppy appearance. Both actors are good enough to form a decent on-screen pair, and yet it seems the script doesn't allow them to fully reveal themselves.
The heart of “30 Mad Wishes” is clearly in the right place, but it is a shame that the warmth from it is somehow not transmitted to the viewer. The lifeblood of the script, i.e. the friendship between Calvin and Skye, is supported by both actions and the chemistry of the actors, but at times everything seems too simple. There is no double bottom here or even flirting with romance: everything is too chaste, healthy and at the same time weak, since the relations of the characters are one-sided. Interpersonal healing may look good, but melancholy can sometimes be dealt with in more radical ways.
After a brash trailer, the film itself is a little surprising for its smoothness and ease. It is worth noting that the Russian name (as it often happens) does not convey any additional meaning to the viewer. "I remember a wonderful moment when you came to me" would have sounded much better than "30 crazy wishes." And it would be great if the authors were inspired by the storyline of “500 Days of Summer” and showed us the joint eccentricities of friends a little more dynamic and mixed.
After the TV series Sex Education I want to write that Asa Butterfield plays himself. This time, he again succeeded in the role of a shy phlegmatic. Unfortunately, the filmmakers did not reveal the backstory of the hero and the role of the family in his life very easily and probably in vain – this would definitely add color (in the form of memories) and important details. It is a bit difficult to catch the mood in the Brother-Father-Brother line - there are few dialogues and they are quite poor in content.
In this light and sweet film, there are two moments that make you shudder and remember where it all started. The wish-fulfillment scene, which had too many hopes, and the unexpected detail that reminded Calvin of his friend’s diagnosis turned out very well. And most importantly, they were quite unexpected. The idea with a gift is a separate skillful find of a script-director group to see the symbolism that humanity used many millennia ago ... I take off my hat!
The heroine and her To Die leaf are gorgeous from and to. Perhaps there is nothing more to add. The image of Skye is very hooked because of the contrast with other characters - a person who has a few months left lives truly unlike those who exist.
But Izzy's out for an amateur. There is absolutely nothing to say about her, in the plot should be and let it be, but her entire personal story is somehow completely banal and not catchy. The line of relationships with the main character could also be more interesting, but the timing of the tape left no chance.
In general, this is an easy film for light sadness, absolutely autumn in mood and not calling to think about something serious, only reminding of the greatest gift of fate for each person - life.
