Of course, James Cameron’s Terminator, which appeared on screens in 1984, was one of the most important milestones in the development of the genre of science fiction. Hard action film with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role of the perfect killer machine instantly became a cult and proved that the director has a great future in the Hollywood studio system, where there will always be a place for a truly talented, persistent creator who can find compromises with producers and at the same time defend his original creative vision. Having managed to put after the “Terminator” several no less high-profile works, including “Aliens” and “The Abyss”, Cameron got the opportunity to return to his own fantastic world, putting “Judgment Day”, still considered an exemplary representative of his genre. Incredible technological developments, a strong script and impeccable execution allowed the sequel to surpass several times all production and advertising costs at the box office, and the finale of the film in theory marked a full-fledged end to the story, because Sarah Connor destroyed absolutely everything that in the future could contribute to the creation of artificial intelligence Skynet and Terminators. He was not going to return to his own franchise and James Cameron himself, who switched to other projects, but at the same time gave the rights to the Terminator to third-party producers who began to look for exits for a possible triquel and still achieved their goal. Cameron did not take part in such an undertaking, but this did not detract from the hype surrounding the release of Rise of the Machines, where Schwarzenegger again played the role of the T-800, and Skynet showed unique survival abilities even after the laboratory where it was created was destroyed. The cold reception of the generally not the worst film sobered Cameron’s creative heirs, after which they were in no hurry to return to the Terminator Universe again, trying to carefully consider each of their next steps, but the peculiar curse of the franchise that lost its founding father continued to make itself felt.
Promising idea to show the events in the world after Judgment Day, undertaken by director McGee in “Let the Savior Come” in fact turned out to be mediocre, inexpressive and completely not revealing the potential of the franchise spectacle, on the basis of which it is impossible to build a planned trilogy. The sequel that followed, or the restart called Genesis, did not inspire anyone. Through Alan Taylor's efforts, we saw a partial reshoot of Cameron's first and second films, but further rethinking of the story proved insane and illogical. In isolation from the main franchise, this could still be accepted, but since “Genesis” brought Schwarzenegger back into operation, it would be worth much more carefully playing the cult precepts of the past, which was not done. This, in turn, meant that the launch of the new trilogy was again postponed, and the status of the Terminator franchise began to rapidly sink under the weight of numerous unsuccessful sequels. It would be possible to restore its former greatness only with the participation of James Cameron himself, who in 2019 regained the rights to the story and characters. In view of the employment on the set of the sequels of “Avatar”, Cameron left the functions of producer, author of the general plot and creative consultant of the new film, which received the subtitle “Dark Fate”, while Tim Miller, known for his work on the first “Deadpool”, sat in the director’s chair. Realizing that to continue the storylines of “Rise of the Machines”, “May the Savior Come” or “Genesis” is pointless from the box office and semantic point of view, Cameron, Miller, as well as David S. Goyer, who joined them, conceived to shoot a full-fledged third part of the franchise, immediately after “Judgment Day” and now we see the results of their efforts, which turned out to be frankly unexpected.
The events of the film take place a couple of decades after Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) and her minions attacked the office of Cyberdine Systems and destroyed all the artificial intelligence developments of Skynet. However, as Sarah herself said, our future is not predetermined, we create it ourselves and who knows what will happen next. The day of judgment was not a day of judgment, but a day of judgment. Killer machines continue to arrive from the bleak future into the past to destroy dangerous people even before they organize a rebellion, and the whole hope of mankind is no longer John Connor, but a certain Dani Ramos (Natalie Reis), followed by the Terminator Rev-9 (Gabriel Luna), which has extraordinary deadly properties that are almost impossible to cope with. And Dani has absolutely no chance to cope alone, but fortunately, not only killers come from the future, but also defenders, which is the mysterious Grace (McKenzie Davis). Add to that Sarah Connor, who has returned from protracted oblivion, and we get a girl’s dream team that will fire with all the guns that exist, just to win another round of struggle for the future. But whether it is truly worth the inhuman effort is now a rhetorical question.
All hopes associated with the return of James Cameron to the franchise, the founding father of which he is, immediately collapsed with the first scenes of the film. For some frankly strange reason, Cameron decided to rewrite the events of Terminator 1 and 2 from scratch, in order to show the world some rethinking of history, which nevertheless continues to grow from the completely destroyed foundation of a cultural phenomenon split into atoms. The best way out of the situation could be an absolute reboot of the narrative, in no way related to past events or a blasphemous, but quite adequate remake, but Cameron co-partners thought otherwise, focusing on the frankly strange, sadistic continuity, which few of the fans of the original dilogy can hook. Having destroyed the very foundations of hope that Cameron himself cherished a couple of decades ago, the creators of Dark Fate brought back Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger purely to help the box office picture. But if Hamilton herself still looks good in the plot and although she is completely optional, but plays a significant role, then Schwarzenegger finally turned into the “wedding Terminator”, which is frankly sad to look at him.
Of course, Schwarzenegger is the face of the franchise and must be treated with respect in any situation, but from sequel to sequel, his formidable, cold, calculating image is corroded. And if in “Doomsday” his transition to the throne of good was completely adequate, then in “Dark Fates” his characteristic metamorphoses are nothing more than scenario madness or cruel irony. However, the situation is no better with Gabriel Luna, who is not only completely unsuitable for the role of the Terminator, and looks for some reason very comical, without causing a drop of fear. It is clear that the creators tried to borrow successfully working ideas from the first films, but in the end they came out only a frank farce, finally ruined the franchise. The main advice for you is not to watch “Dark Fate” immediately after “Judgment Day”. Take care of yourself.

Before us is the new film in the franchise “Terminator”, which again crosses out all the films after “Judgment Day” and is going to start its own trilogy. James Cameron himself sat in the production chair, and Tim Miller, seemingly not the worst director of Hollywood, shot the film. The film since the announcement was positioned as a “real third part”, so did the creators return the franchise greatness?
No, and again no. The film from the first minutes makes it clear that he does not care about the past parts and brazenly saws one of the main characters of the franchise from the plot. Okay, so what else would the creators surprise us with? Nothing. We have the same old-fashioned concept from the second part, and the authors do not add anything new to it. There is no suspense, no tension, no past atmosphere. The characters move boringly from point A to point B, and in between there is a very good action involving the antagonist REV-9, played by Gabriel Luna. As a villain, he is very good, but sometimes gives out incomprehensible barbs, which, I think, are not particularly characteristic of killer robots.
As for the other actors, they all did very well. Linda Hamilton, who has returned to the role of Sarah Connor, is especially pleased to see her on the screen. Schwarzenegger, unfortunately, is practically not necessary for the plot and added only for the sake of attracting the people. Also liked Mackenzie Davis, a newcomer to the franchise, she came out quite tolerable defender of the new leader of the Resistance. Finally, I note that the music in this film is no, Lorne Balfe in “Genesis” coped much better.
Summing up, we can say that it turned out not that very bad, but a good film “Dark Fate” is far away. He absolutely spits on old movies and brings nothing new to the franchise. Look only at your own risk.
The crisis of scenarios continues, and here we have another Frankenstein, another corpse that survived once glorious times, into which they tried to breathe new life. Let's see what happens.
Spoiler - There is no feminism in this film. Yeah, lead roles are female. But there is much more feminism in the seemingly innocent Maleficent. So, anyone who has burned in advance on this score, you can safely watch. The issue of gender equality is not raised in the film.
What did you like?
+ Plot. Dynamic, tense. It connects the film with the classic first and second parts. The bridge between the two mini universes, between the old and the new, is thrown. It's a pretty shaky bridge. It is better not to look at your feet, you can step on a rotten board (for example, the extremely incomprehensible theory about the appearance of conscience, love and other human manifestations in the T800). Are you fucking serious? In this case, it would become an artificial intelligence. According to the canon, the T800 is not only devoid of emotions, but even unaware of itself. All right.
+ Operator work and special effects.
Image and effects at the level that you expect from such a project.
What did you like?
- The absence of a negative hero.
How many times have you told the world? Bright, charismatic 'bad' is the key to a movie's success, especially if it's action. I think the success of the first and second parts is largely due to the presence of a bright antagonist there. In the first film, he is a ruthless, relentless cyborg assassin played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, in the second, the inimitable Robert Patrick as the T1000. In 'Dark Destinies' there is no such thing. I understand, of course, that the Spanish-speaking population of the United States is growing rapidly, so there are two Spanish-speaking characters in the film, and the action is partly set in Mexico. Business, nothing personal. But as the main antagonist of the picture, the killer robot Rev9 and the performer of this role Gabriel Luna is absolutely unimpressive. It's even hard to describe. He's just, like, nothing. It does not cause emotions, neither good nor bad. Just indifference and boredom. What can not be said about the antagonists in the original dilogy. Luna is a good actor, but that is not his role. And the writers didn't help. The history of the Rev9 and its capabilities could be described in more detail. Or somehow interesting to beat his confrontation with ' Carl', prescribing for example a thrash between them. But this is not, except for the extremely clumsy attempt of two robots to start a dialogue at the very end.
In fact, as I see it, the main enemy of the characters of the film is not Rev9, but Destiny. ' These idiots learn nothing' Skynet was averted, but the people in their mad arms race created the Legion. The film makes it clear that humanity is facing a dark fate. We're incorrigible. And Fate really cannot be changed. The characters of the Terminator universe as characters of ancient Greek tragedies struggle with the inevitable, which is inevitable, like an evil fate.
To sum up, ' Dark Fate' it's a good movie, which I would honestly put on 6, but I'll put 7 out of a sense of nostalgia and a desire to motivate the creators a little bit for the next part. In advance, so to speak. I don’t know who and why all this is necessary. Growing up on Marvel Millennials, all these Connors and Terminators are not interesting. And to adult men who watched ' on the video' with miserly boyish tears in their eyes, the Terminator's hand with a protruding thumb goes into burning lava, too. The first two films are enough, you can’t do better.
But still to John!
If you are a fan of the second part of the Terminators - then watch the last, to date, part ' Terminator: Dark Fate', you must!
Dizzying chases, a large-scale chopper in the medieval style, fights of invulnerable robots and ' improved' a person - all this, delights, excites, makes you hold your breath in anticipation ' decisive blow'... which all is not... And the denouement in each case is not trivial, it is almost impossible to guess what will happen.
At the same time, the writers do not hide the fact that this part is actually a complete remake of the most iconic Terminator 2. Many storylines are almost completely identical. The same sense of absolute invulnerability in the Rev-9 robot as in the past T-1000, also in the role of an assistant to the outdated T-800 robot (Arnold Schwarzeneger), also to help from the future, a trained human soldier (McKenzie Davis), also helps Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). For a young audience that is not familiar with the first installments of The Terminators & #39, there will be no big problem with repeating the plot. For ' Old Men', ' Fans' this part will be a nostalgic journey from the past to the future. The writers left many opportunities to explain why the future was different. . .
Of course, from the point of view of the logic of the plot, consistency, you can find a lot of ' not docking'. The final scene is frankly weak. Excessive feminism (all the main characters are women), also does not benefit the film.
Despite this, the film looks in one breath, fans will be delighted! In a word 'Acchan and nostalgia!'
“It is not fate to make a sensible continuation of the cult dilogy of Terminator” – with such thoughts I left the cinema after watching Dark Fates. When it became known that James Cameron was returning to the Terminator as a producer, I had some small hope that it could be a normal sequel, but, alas, “my hope” collapsed when I saw the trailer for Dark Fates. Although I did not have much desire to see this creation in the cinema, I still decided to go to a movie session.
According to the plot of the film in 1997, “Judgment Day” did not come, at the present time Sarah Connor became a Terminator Hunter, from the future a girl Grace arrives she is half a cyborg to protect from the Terminator Rev-9, a new messiah in the face of Mexican girl Dani Ramos.
To begin with, with the fact that “Terminator: Dark Fate” turned out to be a weak attempt to play a sequel to the cult dilogy, when I watched this movie I remembered the mention in the media about comparing the new “Terminator” with “The Force Awakens” and you know, making an analogy I again see the “cleaned” almost copy of the plot of the original, only now Sarah Connor is Dani Ramos, Kyle Reese is Grace, and the T-1000 became Rev-9 and voila in front of us a la the original “Terminators” taken together, but here I did not even manage to save the original characters from the performance of the original “Connor”, but she did not survive the original here.
What just did not mix in "Dark Fate", now the fate of humanity is in the hands of a Mexican (although I am a tolerant person), but almost 10 minutes of Mexican dialogue with subtitles a little tired, this feeling is a Mexican series included, and of course now feminism is in the first place, fellow women will cope with everything themselves, which there, even Dani Ramos at the click of her fingers becomes a super-heroine who will tear the terminator one or two times. What are these things?
As for the visual component, by the way, 28 years have passed since the "Judgment Day" and after all, this movie still looks spectacular and it is made on conscience, with a soul, you can say. “Dark Fate” does not make a strong impression, in some moments computer graphics, and cut your eyes, but after all the Christmas trees and sticks in the yard of 2019 and a considerable budget on the hands of the creators. Personally, I didn’t like the fact that a significant part of the film took place in the dark, the benefit of the movie is not in 3D, and otherwise nothing could be considered.
I really wanted to see some incredible action scenes, but alas, from the fact that we were shown something was already in the predecessors, and something was borrowed from other films. About the soundtrack, even the famous musical theme from the "Terminator" sounded here could not emotionally catch on. By the way, I was waiting for the scene, when the director convinced him every time he let down a tear – I waited and nothing, no emotions, because “Dark Fate” is not able to pull out the emotion, remember how in the first “Terminator” worried about Sarah and Kyle, and in “Doomsday”, when the T-800 eliminated itself, I think many tears, because this scene was really heartbreaking, there is no such thing, unfortunately.
Even the T-800, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, is losing its importance because the fate of humanity is now in women’s hands. What can be noted from the relatively positive, personally, judging by the trailer, I thought that hunting the heroes of the Rev-9 would completely suck, but the character turned out to be quite tolerant, although fearful and creepy, like the T-1000 from the look of which became not at all, this character did not suggest.
As a result, “Terminator: Dark Fate” in no way goes in comparison with the dilogy, the drama between the characters, in general it is very hurtful how the filmmakers did with the dilogy and simply crossed out what was important and what the heroes fought for. After what I saw, I really hope that there will be no sequel, although I very much doubt this, and probably in a few years there will be another sequel, which will again “stamp” on the original and try to play nostalgia.
The continuation of the legendary Terminator is an extremely dubious project in 2019. The original picture came out in 1984. The most successful film is recognized, oddly enough, the 2nd part – “Judgment Day”. Since then, numerous sequels have not had the same success. The reasons were different: the fault of the writers, the shift of emphasis from the main character (played by the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger) to secondary characters (it is worth noting that in the film “Let the Savior Come” Schwarzenegger was not at all), but the main thing is the change of eras. Terminator 2 is a product of the late 1980s-1990s militant era. Then in fashion were muscular heroes (Schwarzenegger is one of the pioneers in such films), heavy rock, the ability of the hero to resist the whole army alone.
Things have changed today. The heroes of action films are no longer bodybuilders like Schwarzenegger, but rather pumped up, if not completely thin men of different nationalities (as a result of the fight against racism – a trend of the last two decades): Will Smith, Daniel Craig, Dwayne Johnson. Now the hero to fight alone with an army of enemies is not required. Heroes perform missions with the help of friends. In the case of the new Terminator (as in previous films, starting with Rise of the Machines), the hero is no longer the character of Schwarzenegger. In the new film, the characters are: a half-cyborg girl from the future, a Mesikana who took the place of John Connor, who was already bored for all previous films, Sarah Connor (for the first time since Terminator 2 performed by Linda Hamilton) and a new Terminator (not a rocker), played by Gabrielle Luna.
The writers tell us that this is a direct sequel to the second film, that the day of judgment has not come. But, as you can see, one doomsday has not come, so there will be another: albeit without the cyber company Skynet, but with the same future in which robots began to fight machines. Thus, participation in the film by James Cameron (albeit as a producer) globally did not affect the plot.
This paragraph contains a spoiler. The character of John Connor is taken out of the film at the beginning of the film, in my opinion, quite illiterate. If in the first two parts his mother and himself were saved (and even through what adventures!), then here John is elementaryly killed by a shot of the same Schwarzenegger who just (remember “Judgment Day”) defended him. We're told it's a different robot, but if the future has changed and doomsday hasn't come, where is this robot from? And why they sent an outdated model (already there was a “liquid” robot performed by Robert Patrick).
It should be noted that Schwarzenegger appears in the film after about 1 hour of viewing and plays the rather comical role of a reflective pensioner who was once a brutal terminator.
Return to the wave of success of the second picture did not work. Those who watched the first two Terminators in the 1990s will see this film and will not be able to nastalize, since the world has changed, Schwarzenegger is no longer young, and not the main character at all. A new generation, who may not have seen the film before, will watch the film as a regular action thriller, where robots are more like zombies or aliens. Will the studio be able to earn on it at the level of the latest "Fast and Furious"? We'll see.
Another attempt to destroy the franchise: it seems successful!
So, a nice budget and a steel shield in the form of James Cameron, did that help the film? No, resuscitation is unsuccessful.
In my opinion, since you guys decided to ignore all the subsequent films after the second part, James Cameron should have steered and written the script. It seemed that by sketching the canvas of history, Cameron gave a chance, but the chance was obviously losing. Despite being a fairly adequate director, Tim Miller was essentially the instrument that brought the script to life.
The script is like a small shoe that was pulled on a huge knife and decided to walk, but the shoe began to crack at the seams, get out your fingers, heel, peeled off the sole, but the brand remained in place, as if to say - look, the shoe is ragged, but this is a brand!, no such movie I do not need! The film is like a child who follows in the footsteps of an adult father, but constantly stumbles and falls.
The tape sins with repetitions, but apparently the authors realized this during the filming and diligently try to let the viewer down the false path of guesses and assumptions. Attempts to explain and link the fan theory of what would have happened to the Terminator if he had completed the mission do not stand up to criticism. Cameron tried in a pre-scenario story to push this idea — whether the artificial intelligence learned love, family values and other if he had free time — false image.
The fact that a machine will be able to fit into society, open its own business - without real documents and a medical card - does not stand up to any criticism. The aging terminator will still be too noticeable, especially in our time, and the first visit of the local sheriff would have smashed his fake documents about the iron arguments in the form of questions: who is, where he came from and why exactly in Texas. The creators contradict themselves in the fact that in our age, a person is always in sight - cameras and smartphones everywhere ... OK, passed this movie, I have long not perceived the Terminator as something outstanding, as soon as the 3rd part came out.
Acting, not bad, you know, not good for everyone. I’m not talking about Arnie and Linda’s old guard – they probably hold all the interest in this picture, and again, without them, there would be no point in filming anything. I am so sorry that they were in this movie.
The character under the name Dani Rasos did not impress at all - as Stanislavsky would say - I do not believe. Too fragile, there is no rod in her - she is just a girl, a pretty, soft girl, does not pull at all on a warrior, who will be followed by people in the future, there is no leadership streak in her, such people can be seen immediately, Natalia Reis does not pull this role. Her rare displays of leadership and fiery script speeches are not at all inspiring or impressive.
Linda Hamilton's phrase during the bridge scene is completely out of place. You know what that phrase is. What was that? Why? For what? Cause some kind of nostalgia? That phrase was no longer relevant when I was in 9th grade, which was 20 years ago. Far from moving away from the episode on the bridge, Car chase and musical accompaniment with its structure of interweaving the beginning of action and the tempo of music are almost completely pulled from the second matrix.
The special effects, oh, there are so many of them that it seems the whole movie consists of 95 percent effects. I’ve never scolded the magicians on screen, but frankly, some graphical points I would call at least... controversial, like borrowing the physics of roar 9 skeleton movements from the Star Wars B1 droids, or so it seemed to me, the unfortunate color of the liquid metal Rev9 I consider also a miss, however, it would be a clear rough repetition if it was made of shiny metal like the T1000. They did not like, in some places close-up plans for the restoration of Gabriel Luna, besides, the actor is a bit bad, again in some moments he portrayed the entry into the liquid component of Rev9 of his metal skeleton!
The eye turns to the middle of the film and you get used to the level of computer graphics, which fades into the background and exposes the scripted jambs. Although, ladies and gentlemen, the scene with Sarah Connor and John Connor, who were recreated and rejuvenated, was impressive. Congratulations, Hollywood managed to get rid of the dead eye effect in such special effects, remember Beowulf and other similar computer models of people, like the rejuvenated Kurt Russell, Jeff Bridges from the continuation of the throne and the same young Arnie from Terminator 5.
It seems that Cameron tried to run some computer effects for his Avatars, to look at the reaction of the audience. I don’t know what it is like for you.
Explosions and stunt tricks, of course, where they were present - do not cause complaints, live lashes of cars can not be confused with anything.
Of course, the tricks of the 2000s are different from the tricks and fighting scenes of the 1990s, in the new film there are many acrobatic fighting scenes with elements of martial arts, but the creators do not overdo them, as in the same Matrix, where kung fu fights are one of the features of the film – there is only a little acrobatics, more inherent in the elements of the dance tapes like STEP forward. Stupid senseless mutilation as in the 80-90s now looks too primitive, and the Terminator is more entertainment than a terrible fantastic action movie of 1984. Therefore, tastes and trends are appropriate.
There's no Terminator spirit, no second, no third, even if you do a flip. Cameron either lost track of the process as a producer or was not interested in it at all from the start. And how he praised the director, the script and the shooting itself! He said the same thing about the fifth film. The maestro simply became mired in his avatars and lost his grip.
I categorically did not like this film, I was bored, spectacular explosions and tricks will not surprise me - I want food for the mind, besides, I was promised a direct continuation of the story of the second film. But whether the narrator all confused, or the story has long gone out, like coals in a fire.
Why did the film get a rating of 16+??? Lure more to the cinema, to an old attraction called Cyborg Killer. We tried to create and restart the franchise gently – it didn’t work out, stop, no more sequels are needed. Don't rethink it. Tim Miller – shoot the sequels of Deadpool, Cameron, well, you already have a lot of money, test your technology and special effects on other films, still from your Avatars will write boiling water during 3D views.
Oh, Hollywood, why are you kicking the Terminator? His red eye is long gone and will never light up again. Put this book on the shelf and never touch it!
1 time - randomness, 2 times - coincidence, 3 times - regularity, 4 times - the law!
After three (according to critics and viewers) unsuccessful Terminator films, James Camer decided to take the reins into his own hands, stating: “I will make a real continuation of my films.”
I think Camer did a masterful job. Of course, if that was his decision. He acted not as a director, but as a producer, but with the assurance that the entire film would be made under his careful direction.
And what did we get?
The plot is simple, as in the first two parts: from the future, a bad Terminator is sent to eliminate the threat in the future in the person of a girl, and a good super soldier in order to save the girl; and then we meet our favorite characters.
But... Oh, that's a but! I wish I could do without him. But I can't.
You can't sink the Titanic again, you can't relive the "Luke, I'm your father" moment or the "Wake up, Neo, wake up" moment. But modern Hollywood understands this, but every time tries to convince the viewer that it is possible, that this time it will definitely work out. And if not, we have a new project, which this time will definitely hold the bar.
The new Terminator film persistently and carefully positioned itself as a "real" continuation of the (already classic) first two parts. Each scene plays on the nostalgic feelings of the audience for these films. References to episodes, phrases and even entire scenes actively emphasize the previous parts.
On the one hand, it makes sense. If you shoot the third part, then of course, mixing with the other two is true. But in fact, we got not a sequel, but a symbiosis of the first two parts in the new wrapper, taking into account not only technical capabilities, but also modern political correctness (the emphasis on women in the lead role is there, the active use of emigrants - please). The race for modern trends is no longer as an addition to the main storyline, but, on the contrary, is already beginning to seem one of the engines of the plot.
What do I mean by the symbiosis of the previous parts?
The plot of the first part is based on saving Sarah from the Terminator. The feeling that the car will not stop, the feeling of helplessness in front of this tool does not leave the viewer throughout the film. It is understood that only flight is the only way out.
The second part expands the plot by the fact that it is necessary to save the future leader of the resistance - John. Sarah, who initially looked at the Terminator protecting her son with horror and incomprehension, changes her attitude towards the car. She sees the Terminator not only fulfilling her rescue mission, but also learning to understand what humans are. And running away is not an option and you need to fight and change something here and now.
This is what we saw again in the third part.
I understand that the burden of responsibility on the shoulders of the filmmakers was enormous. Unfortunately, I must say that he crushed them. Too much of the race for originals reveals problems with self-replication and does not bring to this universe neither new interesting plots nor the development of heroes.
I won’t hide it, it was nice to see Sarah Conor return, but it’s the same Sarah who was in the finale of the second part.
Arnie is hard to describe without avoiding spoilers. In short, it's the same T800. Rather, it is just a symbol of the original and, unfortunately, does not give a new understanding of the image (this is not a minus, the image itself is extremely organic).
And the main new faces... In a nutshell, this is just a rebranding of familiar and already beloved characters.
Active marketing tries to convince us what is better and impossible. I was afraid, but I wanted to believe it. But in the end, the film did not convince me, but a pity.
6 out of 10
I went to this movie with low expectations. Negative reviews, far from the highest ratings of viewers and crushing reviews on YouTube and of course the bad last parts of this franchise could not but affect the expectation. Fans shout at one throat that the film is bad, I must admit that I myself have been a fan of this franchise since I was a child, I have watched the first three parts a bunch of times, and Doomsday for me is the best part of the Terminator. I understand that most likely my opinion will be different from the rest, but it is really better to go to the film yourself and put a specific opinion, not based on the assessments, reviews and reviews of others. Let me tell you right away, I really liked the movie.
Of course, the weakest point of the Terminator is the plot, here we will not see anything new. As always, a terminator is sent from the future to kill a person who will influence the future in one way or another, and naturally there is a protector on that person’s side. The main characters run and try to protect the future hope of humanity, and the evil machine tries to fulfill its mission, and the whole plot is built on this. But the film will not be complete without plot twists, and one of the scenes of the film will simply shock all fans and rewrite the story of the very Doomsday, which was prevented by Sarah and John Connor. The plot is not the most important part, for me were much more important characters and action.
It was so nice to see Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger again. Sarah Connor is still as tough and tough as she was in the previous installments, and now she’s also an experienced Terminator Killer. Arnie is still a cool cyborg, the battles with which are breathtaking. Unfortunately, the legendary T-800 is not allocated much timekeeping, but it is enough to enjoy it again in full. I was also pleased with Mackenzie Davis, who I personally know from her role in the film Tully. Here, she plays Grace, whose mission is to protect the future savior of humanity - Daniel Ramos. Grace is a human being like you and me, but cybernetically modified, allowing her to fight back against the Terminator who is hunting Dani. Dani Ramos herself is just an ordinary undistinguished girl from a Mexican family, working in a factory with her brother on her head, which falls mortal danger. Well, and Gabriel Luna in the role of Rev-9, who has the same abilities as the T-1000 from the doomsday, but now can separate his 'liquid' part of his main body and carry a double threat. All the characters were written quite well. Each of them has quite clear motivations, you can empathize with the characters, which makes them not look like some indestructible cards. All the characters are sufficiently revealed and it is interesting to follow the storyline of each.
I really liked the visual and action of this picture. I think that's the main plus of the movie he bribed me with. And although the film goes according to the scheme: broke away, caught up, action - it is not boring, because for each scene with a fight, the ideal location is selected, for example, a cargo plane or a dam, it looks beautiful and exciting. After watching, I remember absolutely all the action scenes, they are not similar to each other, and this says a lot. The battles of Terminators with each other look very cool, especially advantageous in the frame of course looks Rev-9, which creates just some unrealistic things with its new abilities. At the beginning of the film, rejuvenation technology was used, it looks quite good and unusual.
I also enjoyed the soundtrack of the film. The soundtrack was at the level, and the soundtrack itself from the Doomsday ... what can I say, without comment.
The Terminator made a positive impression on me. Do not listen to those who pour dirt on the film, go and see for yourself, make your opinion.

The rights to the Terminator franchise have returned to James Cameron. Yay? Yay. Cameron decided to make a direct sequel to Judgment Day, ignoring three unsuccessful sequels. Yay? Yay. In the early stages, he even promised to complete the story (which, really, “Judgment Day” is not the end?), and persuaded not only the self-evident Schwarzenegger, but also that Sarah Connor – Linda Hamilton to return to the role. Yay? Yeah, yeah.
But James Cameron all these years enthusiastically does (and still does not finish, waited for) the continuation of “Avatar”, and shoot a new “Terminator” he has no time, so in the director’s chair was Tim Miller (“Deadpool”, only the first). It's a pity it wasn't Cam himself, but okay, Miller can do action too. Suspicions that everything is not really “hurrah” appeared after the trailers, and then Cameron began to talk about plans for the trilogy (4 and 5 times we also heard this).
What happened to “Dark Fates”? In short, the fourth failed sequel. All two hours of timekeeping we observe not the highest quality CGI, as well as a complete misunderstanding of the causes of immortality of the “Judgment Day”. The plot is still the same - from the future come the defender (modified man Grace performed by Mackenzie Davis) and the hunter (Terminator Rev-9 Gabriel Luna) on an important for the future of human resistance (Natalia Reyes). A careful reader will notice that this trio lacks Sarah Connor and the good old T-800. This is because their characters are more for a poster, and Schwarzenegger completely forgot how to play the intimidating machine and instead plays a curtain master named Karl.
In the new film, there is no frightening inevitability of unkillable machines. Because of the graphics, the robots lost their weight, changed the material from metal to virtual rubber. There are no memorable characters. Even Sarah Connor has been turned here into a character-function who has nowhere to go, and the rest you will definitely not remember. All that remains is the tedious graphony of the action scene, which makes you nostalgic about the touching relationship of the T-800 and young John Connor, about the armed embodiment of the fearless maternal instinct in the person of Sarah Connor and, of course, a piercing descent into lava with a thumb raised up. No one cared about the emotional connection of the film with the viewer, and it was the second this year after “Alita” unsuccessful production project Cameron, which makes you wonder if the maestro left his instinct somewhere there on Pandora.

The Terminator franchise is without exaggeration a cult franchise, that is, its first two parts. But after the "Judgment Day" all this case somehow very quickly stalled. In the period from 2003 to 2015, three more films were released, which most viewers perceived very ambiguously. Genesis so famously crossed out most of the plot moments of the first two parts of the series, and led the series in some other, and clearly not quite the right direction. But about a couple of years ago, the viewer began to broadcast about the new part of the series, while we were promised that none other than James Cameron himself would return to production completely, the screenwriter and director of the first two parts of the series, as well as a considerable number of other cult works in mass cinema. Moreover, in addition to the standard return of Arnold Schwarzenegger, we were also promised to return Linda Hamilton herself, who has so far managed not to get involved in the relatively weak films of the franchise. Well, like the icing on the cake, people poured in their ears the fact that the new film will not cross out the events of the first two films, as did all the pictures after “Judgment Day”, but rather competently and thoroughly continue the series that “Dark Fate” will be a full-fledged triquel. In addition, just before the release, various critics erupted very flattering reviews regarding the film.
Alas, even if you take a quick look at the plot of the new “Terminator”, it becomes obvious that all the promises of the creators turned out to be just a real lie. Well, judge, another Terminator is sent back to the past, and of course he has a mission to kill a person on whom survival depends in the future. And no, it's not about John Connor, it's about Dani Ramos. To intercept the Terminator-killer again send a warrior from the past – Grace. And somewhere in between, there's Sarah Connor, who's been pretty busy all these years, and as always, she's been preparing to fight Terminators and the artificial intelligence of the future.
To say that Dark Fate is a bad movie in the franchise is probably nothing at all. As the film approaches the finale, you become more and more aware of the fact that the filmmakers simply brazenly lied to their audience. There is no return to the roots of the series. Similar to Genesis, the film’s events simply frankly spit on everything that came before it, and suddenly it turns out that everything that Sarah and John did, even in Judgment Day, does not matter so much. I sincerely tried to find something good in this division, but in reality only a few things pleased, namely, the return of Linda Hamilton, who is still quite capable of playing the same Sarah Connor, and a new antagonist played by Gabriel Luna. The latter in general looked extremely unimpressive in all trailers and materials, and there was a suspicion that it would be one of the problems of the so-called “third part”. But no, the man did his job very well. He’s certainly not Arnie, and certainly not Robert Patrick, but in my opinion, he’s the best after those two in the franchise. And now I'm talking more about acting. As for the rest of the cast, there is no one to single out. Grandpa Arnold certainly does not look like a Terminator, and at the same time he jokes here so that Papps from Genesis will envy the local Karl. Yes, his name is now Karl... As for Mackenzie Davis and Natalia Reyes, there is absolutely nothing to say. Unless, the latter turned out to be so faded, dull and mediocre that even Nick Stahl from “Rise of the Machines” will seem against her background really the savior of mankind.
In the dry balance, you can praise some part of the action, which was even entertaining. Although here the creators are very messed up, stuffing some incredible amount of absolutely poor computer graphics. Hell, I still reminisce about the opening scene of Judgment Day, in which the past is shown atmospherically on a transcendent level, and realistically from an artistic point of view. How cool still look there endoskeletons T-800, which literally go through the skulls of people. This is a production, Cameron knew how to make films. As for Dark Destinies, I often got the impression that Cameron didn’t hit a finger again for the production of the film, or his role in it was just damn small. In another way, I just can not explain why this time again, and even under the ' manual & #39; master, there was such a wretched obscenity. And no matter where you spit, almost everything is bad. It's even a bit of a pity that Linda Hamilton avoided the franchise's passing films all these years, but ended up slogging into one of the worst. Summing up, it is worth saying that “Dark Fate” deserves one of the lowest ratings, it is a poorly staged spectacle, with a frankly poor plot, and completely disregard the fans of the first dilogy.
Finally, I waited for the next movie of my favorite franchise, and having bought a bucket of popcorn, not having much hope, I sat down in the hall. All right, let's go.
The first thing that caught my eye when watching this tape is a special mood, which I rarely experience in the cinema. Namely, indifference.
The unambiguous feeling of coolness from watching this picture was experienced purely because of the old Arnold. Well, the face of young Sarah Connor at first surprised not in a joke. Okay. Period. Special effects? They are present throughout the film... But! For 2019, yes, with such a budget, yes, with such a fan base. It's too plasticine, too slurred, and in the end it's too bright (imho guys - I'm a huge fan of the first two films, not just for the revolutionary picture, for those times). But it is for the quality that some comrades do not emphasize, mistakenly believing that Schwartz and Linda are enough for a money vacuum cleaner.
It is especially reluctant to write about the caste of the film, except for the main Mexican defender of the fatherland, oddly enough, there is nothing to complain about - this is a solid 4+!
Before us is another multi-pulti full of idiocy, counton, and inappropriate references to the cult films of Jim K. Definitely, this film will bring pleasure in the cinema, since after watching all the trailers, it was expected to see the full bottom of the movie. No, there are a couple of moments.
Verdict: - a good reason to go to the movies, without a hint of cultism. But!!!!- with the coolest Arnie (with an outrageously scanty timekeeping for his hero)

The opinion of the person who watched the first Terminator on the big screen at the premiere.
I’m not going to talk about how bad the film is, because the reasons why it’s so bad are obvious, I’m not going to point out the mistakes of the creators for a long time, because everyone knows that these are not mistakes at all, but the squeeze of the franchise, I’m just going to draw one parallel that most accurately reflects my opinion on why Terminator 6 is so bad.
The paradox of this film is that 30 years ago, Cameron managed to predict the future.
Not that terrible future with nuclear bacchanalia and the uprising of machines, but the technological future being in which, today and watching the second film, I am not once ashamed, as ashamed of the sixth film, and secondly I catch myself thinking when I look at Arnie, whom I so damn reminds with his answers voice assistant Alice from my smartphone.
But not even the main thing... The main thing in the approach to how this very future was wanted to show us 30 years ago, and they showed what is important without the help of high, digital technologies, without the capabilities of neural networks, etc., which are discussed in the film, and how funny it would sound, they are trying to show it to us now, having all those capabilities that were presented to us 30 years ago in the same film as fiction, but completely without using them in full force today, which will never cease to amaze me.
Shameful comrades to the outrage that we are shown such a weak film about the future in this very future, where the real prototype of the Terminator squeamish on the horizon, becoming and self-awareness & #39; not far off, and the schedule for the next session about a film about such a future you will learn from the previously mentioned Alice.
After watching, I made two things clear to myself:
1. To satisfy my disappointment will be the revision of the first two parts, where everything is right from the plot to the graphics, and which today look better than many modern films including the current.
2. Having lost count of how many times I watched the first two films and may want to watch them again, I understand that this film is likely to revise the desires of not arise at all.
Hence we have the following paradox: that having the possibilities of which this film speaks, we have no opportunity to make a movie about it today, as those people made about it then and when and who could only dream about what we have today. . .
Though I think I'll get better... Rather, we do not have the opportunity, but we simply do not want to, because why try, if they buy it, and if it all burned with blue flame in the case of any other film, we are used to it, that’s just not with this. . .
After all, this is not just a cult film, but also to some extent iconic in its prophetic (benefit only in certain moments) fabrications, and no worse than the time machine described in it, which allowed us many years ago to make a giant leap into the future, which it tried to tell us from the very beginning and in all colors.
I couldn't help it. I took a look at the terminology. And now he bombs me, he bombs me, comrades! Grandpa Cameron promised us to ignore 3, 4 and 5 movies and continue the story of the second. He said the truth, only in the first few minutes, the monstrous efforts and the whole drama of two paintings shot in the last century mercilessly merge into a red-hot abyss from which the T800 pulled its thumb. Apparently, he was well beaten with a sleeper on his head, so that he forgot about the existence of the Terminators that followed him and decided to drown like a Titanic, only not in the ice of the ocean sea, but in the furnace of the Hollywood conveyor. But the T800 from the genesis, as well as from the new film, remembers everything perfectly. And addresses, and appearances, and passwords. And remembers because now the sphere in which they move from the future does not burn and melt everything within its range, but, on the contrary, freezes. Therefore, streams of quantum variants of Terminator arrival imprinted on the T800 chip and developed human consciousness in it. He predicted the coming of the metal messiahs with 100% accuracy. That’s not the explanation in the movie, but you won’t notice the difference, believe me. He also learned Zen, self-identified as a person, and began to repent of the atrocities he had committed. I also got a dog. And my wife. What a child, what a sin to hide. But this is not enough for him, and he, like a real womanizer, even tries to smear Sarah throughout the film.
Well, at least the fourth wall does not break, like the previous comrade, filmed at Timka. So I imagine, Schwartz looks out of the screen and says: ' I am a cybernetic organism on a metal endoskeleton, I have a wife and a child. I was both a pilot and a submariner, wallpaper glued and tile laid. What have you accomplished in your lifetime? 39 Apparently, the main idea that the viewer should take out of what he saw is that the Terminator could, so everyone can!!! There is no destiny except that which we create ourselves. But there may be another thought. We're all just squalid sapiens being waged for the second time on Uncle Cameron's promises. Everything in order.
A super-soldier appears to protect the main character, and a Terminator appears. The first clichés of the entire franchise begin. A perfect super-murderer sent from two thousand forty years old cannot copy a person’s face without physical contact. Um, are you thinking what I'm thinking? Exactly! Everyone knows that neural networks are already able to replace the faces of actors from old films, simply analyzing photos from all angles. And by the way, the T1000 in the distant 1991 copied a fat guard, the imprint of his shoe on his face.
Next up is the car chase scenario. Where can I go without her?
When the main characters run away from the devil cyborg, they choose what?? Well, of course, a slow-moving truck, which will burn the engine in a couple of kilometers. Where did we see that? 10 times. And Terminator what??? Terminator is certainly the healthiest and fastest car, on which it will not be difficult to ram the most powerful ram. And when the brother of the main character tells her defender to add to the gas, she looks at him as if he had already gone far away from a nerd, which the film clearly made a mistake.
Now for the bad terminator. He clearly has cognitive dissonance. Here he chases the heroes, trying to kill them, but along the way jokes and apologizes for the broken shed. It's now both liquid and solid, just like a chair. Hmm, 2 in 1, just like coffee, wanted to write. Solid was created after the unsuccessful attempts of Skynet to learn ballet and all sorts of acrobatic sketches. Not really. Most likely, Skynet tried to give the Terminators the ability to jump the stairs like a baby spring, which could go down on its own. Otherwise, how to explain the desire of the super-robot to take the shape of the letter C, only bent in the opposite direction. But what to expect from a machine that has a pilgrimage instead of a normal cranial box. By the way, this is very symbolic, since according to rumors, writers suffer from the same ailment. The most important thing is missing in their minds. That's right, imagination.
Sarah's coming back. We are told that she has already destroyed many Terminators. Celebrating each victory with a lethal dose of alcohol and snacking on a bag of chips that shields negative memories from the past. And she refuses to call the T800 Carl, remembering his name is Uncle Bob.
Now the action is nearing its end. A long chase with battles begins, or a battle with chases. Take care of it. Flying on airplanes, then diving into water. And then Carl remembers that he needs to steal the corals, apparently thinking that the new Terminator is Clara. He's so far from reality. As well as the degree of adequacy of what is happening, which will give a head start to any Indian militant. Here's the battle again. T800 is knocked out. Apparently the phrase: ' I won't give you the clarinet, even kill you! Oh, damn it!', that sounded pretty good. Sarah still goes against her principles and calls him Carl, which brings the Terminator out of a very deep reboot. And it starts immediately. If you know what I mean.
It is a pity that the new terminator fails to explain the value of human life. It can only be realized by terminators from the last century, created by the Skynet, which is also unable to comprehend it. But here we are dealing with a legion, so that is a completely different story. And the fairy tale is more like genesis and has nothing to do with the two canonical films. It's so hard.
Going back to the title. Terminator who could. Smog, which is smoke. More specifically, it's a puff. It's just puff.
You can't go into the same river twice. After the successful “Judgment Day”, they tried to conquer this reservoir three more times. Quite tolerable "Rise of the Machines", the boring "Let the Savior Come" and just die stupid "Genesis".
But the advertising campaign of “Dark Fates” offered to renounce everything that the great James Cameron did not shoot. And in confirmation of the seriousness of his intentions, the name of the Canadian director as the main producer was also indicated. And we denied it.
And there has been a war of men and machines, and now there will be its last battle. And I understand why James Cameron is the producer of this film.
And it’s simple: we have the same “Judgment Day”. Absolutely.
Just imagine that the 1991 film was captured by representatives of feminist movements and we have: Linda Hamilton as good old Sarah Connor, Mackenzie Davies as a cyborg from the future (that is, Kyle Reese) and Natalia Reyes as a girl named Dani, on whom, of course, the future of all mankind depends. Like Sarah in 1984.
And in “Dark Fates” the heroes will become bored with the very liquid Terminator, which can only be destroyed in some creative way. And to fight him, of course, Iron Arnie, who ran on the light and he is probably the only interesting character in the whole picture.
However, “Terminator: Dark Fate” can be watched without much anguish. Especially if "Judgment Day" is forgotten by you in the early 90s, and the film is just going to awaken feelings of nostalgia.
If you want to see “Judgment Day” with modern graphics and beloved but aged characters from Cameron’s paintings, why not? "Dark Fate" is about a head above the worst film in the franchise - "Genesis". This is a pleasant but secondary story. At the same time, it is pleasant that the secondary is made up of the same factors: the characters have aged, the history is cyclical.
James Cameron’s Terminator Dilogy is one of the most iconic things in cinema. Numerous attempts to develop the franchise without Cameron have led to a loss of fan confidence and automatic assigning to any sequel its status of “failure”. And here comes the next part called “Dark Fate”, which is a direct continuation of the original dilogy and promises to correct all the mistakes of this cinematic universe.
Did they succeed? Let's figure it out!
Director and story
Tim Miller, the director of Deadpool, tried to breathe new life into the long withered franchise. Under the explicit instruction of Cameron, who is the producer of the film, he rethinks the events that occurred in the first two parts and gives his vision of a “killer robot”. Beginning with an amazing scene that is sure to please (and at the same time upset) fans, Miller immediately gives hope for a good film. Then there are new locations, new characters. And it seems that the continuation will be very bold and breakthrough. But suddenly everything new immediately fades and Miller immediately moves on the old track: the traditional plot associated with the protection of the chosen one, the escape from a bad robot, the phrase that we decide fate as we want, and so on. The effect of viewing will be more similar to the effect of watching “The Force Awakens”.
Actors and characters
What is worth going to the movie for is the return of Linda Hamilton. It's the same cool and combative, albeit aged, Sarah Connor from Judgement Day. Watching her smear from a grenade launcher is a pleasure. Schwarzenegger, who has been the main star of the franchise for four decades, is clearly tired of the role of the Terminator and relaxed plays a retired robot. But the lack of tricks he compensates for the great jokes that he says with poker.
More questions, of course, about the new stars. Gabriel Luna, who plays the Mexican version of the T-1000, is so emotional that even for a soulless robot, it’s too much. A little-known actress Natalia Reis in the role of “a new hope of humanity” looks very weak and played, charisma like the young Edward Furlong she clearly does not. But Mackenzie Davis as her protector from the future looks surprisingly convincing. Her character is revealed more than others and she wants to empathize.
Action and visuals
The film has many creative action scenes and fights, a beautiful blockbuster picture. You won’t miss the movie, it’s worth admitting. Visual effects, though not breakthrough, but since the release of the trailer they are refined to perfection.
But if we sum up, "Dark Fate" - this is not worthy, but a high-quality sequel. Frankly, this is the case that even though there are many sins and mistakes, you do not want to scold him at all, because this is the last breath of the Terminator from our childhood. Everything that could be squeezed out. Yes, it will not be in line with the first two “Terminators”, but he is definitely better than “Genesis” and the sequels released before.
7 out of 10
Even after the release of 'Genesis', the audience had a reasonable question: 'Where is the beloved series going?' After watching the new part, I can confidently say that it is going nowhere with cheerful steps. The budget has become more, but the conscience and efforts of the creators did not add.
Plot. The storyline again ignores all the tapes except the first and second. We are offered to look at another alternative version of events after the end of 'Judgment Day'. The authors do not offer absolutely nothing new , happily copying not only both the earliest parts, but also the picture of 2015. All screen time you will be led along a dark tunnel, the exit from which is not visible. Simple human logic is not accepted here. The police then react immediately but what is happening, can sit on the sidelines for a long time. At secret facilities, anyone is allowed inside without a pass, they cannot normally organize neither inspection nor inspection. Apparently, there are no cameras either (otherwise, how to explain the constant lawlessness happening around and the non-declaration of all its participants?). An inconclusive ending with a hint of continuation finally incinerates hope for a bright future for the universe.
Atmosphere. I think you will agree that an important factor in the formation of the right atmosphere of the picture is the diligence of the actors. Natalia Reyes (Dani) is the only one who played her role without reproach. Linda Hamilton (Sarah Connor) walks with the same face all the time and habitually lazily shoots at the antagonist. You could hire any girl in a mask of Sarah, it would have been much cheaper. McKenzie Davis (Grace aka & #39; man with lotions') with his sluggish and boring behavior, it generally infuriates melancholy. Well, the old man Arnold Schwarzenegger is needed here only for laughter. For the whole film, he will give two successful jokes: about bullet holes and sewing curtains. Add to this the frequent abrupt change of frames and the intentional disregard of the authors to the laws of aerodynamics (the scene in the plane) and to physics in general.
Special effects. Explosions and pogroms look realistic, but there is little use for this, because chases and shootings are also brazenly stolen from the previous parts.
Music. This time the music Junky Ax-El was not remembered by me from the word ' at all' Perhaps it is well-chosen for the general background, but by the standards of the continuation of the cult picture this is a hack.
The title of my review, as you may have guessed, is borrowed from the film. She describes him as briefly as possible. 'Genesis' was once subjected to quite a lot of criticism, but the authors preferred not to draw any conclusions, and once again speculate on the famous franchise. Unfortunately, too often money covers the eyes with an impenetrable veil.
Perhaps with such cheers fans will leave the cinema. It's not just the indignation, it's the appropriate combination of an old meme with the name of a character in the movie. Do you know who I mean?
Yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger passed the acting relay to Mackenzie Davis and Natalia Reyes. A girl duo of a modified boy from the future and a runaway Mexican in the present tries to confront Gabriel Luna, who came off the cover of a glossy magazine. To the youth party with large guns joined Linda Hamilton with overhead "buns". In the unbridled agony of special effects, good girls save the world from insidious machines that have already encroached on their jobs.
James Cameron brought in a team of writers and writers. The biggest weakness of the film (after the story) is the dialogue. Characters either throw replicas from stray theater productions (" It's too early to thank) or make pathetic speeches (" First you saved me, now I'll save you). Separate respect for unshaven Arnie. Apparently, the experience of the governorship taught him to successfully joke and write texts with meaning. What can you say about Hamilton? Older Sarah Connor shamelessly overplays, portraying a bitch and saying "ringing" phrases. I'm sure she's long dreamed of saying on camera "I'll be back."
Except for the harsh Schwartz with the youthful Linda, there is no one to catch on to. The new characters are nothing compared to the old-school heroes from the first parts. Even after casting aside nostalgia, the pair of "strong and independent" lose to the harmonious bundle of Bale-Worthington from Let the Savior Come. A luscious version of Rev-9 from the moon melts at the glance of Robert Patrick.
They brighten up 2 hours of viewing drive attempts to soak the new terminator. Director Tim Miller used a rich arsenal of weapons, including cargo planes, in a wide variety of locations. He even managed to drag the heroes down the bottom of the dam jam. Thanks to Miller for the atmospheric introduction to the film and for the well-played key moments from Part 2.
In short, fans watch in “pink glasses” and breathe smoothly at the mention of Karl, and ordinary viewers – enjoy the stream of action on a huge screen, without delving into the plot.

Unfortunately, nothing new (or rather continuation) has not come out.
Let’s start with the story.
She once saved John, but now the fate of humanity depends on Dani Ramos. In the next film, fate will depend on someone else. By the way, one point is very unclear, but otherwise there will be a spoiler. .
The creators of the film, or rather, the instigator of the Terminator “James Cameron” said that there will be a real sequel to the film after the second part of “doomsday”. And came out in the end a “new” version of the doomsday, only with another protagonist who will save humanity. This is already the most important and very significant disadvantage of the film, because of which, in fact, it was already possible not to shoot or watch the film. And for any Terminator fan, you can say right away - don't look. The plot has already crossed everything out. It did not come out corny, it did not come out new, but it turned out the same. Only differently. Meaning? If this is another sequel, but in the end, which did not continue anything, but only replayed everything again. .
But, if “Dark Fate” watch as just a movie to enjoy the viewing – it can be noted that this picture is worth watching in the cinema. Of the special advantages, the first one is dynamic. Everything develops in the film quite quickly, and most importantly with taste. The special effects are also high. If you take the characters of the film, then there is an interesting moment that will give rise to statements on the topic of feminism. So, if you do not take into account the characters (in terms of gender), then, in general, the selection was not bad. All the actors played their roles well. I especially want to mention Arnold. Schwarzenegger played with both humor and feeling. It was nicer when he appeared in the movie.
Director Tim Miller made a good film by himself, it is bright, cheerful, interesting, and with humor and looks interesting. He's good at that. But here is the script of James Cameron (I will mention it again) is no good, not his error or tactfulness, but the very meaning of this picture.
In general, summing up, if you evaluate “Dark Fate” as a continuation of the 2nd part of the Terminator – then you are clearly mistaken. It's not a sequel. It’s a re-shot of Judgment Day, so to speak, and because of this, it’s only willing to give the film a rating of two. But, as a picture itself, as an independent film, it is quite good in itself. Therefore, we add two factors to the attention, and we get an average score. Arnie is still +1.
This week, the film “Terminator: Dark Fate” was released. Nobody asked for it, nobody wanted it. Especially after the previous movie, which many still have nightmares. The name of James Cameron in the producers calmed a little, but still no one hoped for success. Have you tried to save your favorite franchise? Absolutely not.
The film has many problems, but I think the main one is the authors’ attempt to put pressure on nostalgia. Again painfully familiar plot, again familiar characters, again recognizable scenes and references. Except they don't work. True fans will run out of the hall in the first half hour, and they will not attract new viewers. Having invested all their efforts in these references, the authors forgot about the most important thing: you need to make a film.
The plot is almost completely copied from the previous parts. Where he proposes something new, stupidities begin. No interesting heroes. Sarah Connor is the only character written, but this is not due to this film, but to previous ones. In general, the old guard here is clearly superfluous, especially in a radically changed atmosphere. There is a lot more action, which is not bad in itself, but not when the authors try to put pressure on nostalgia. That's not why we liked old movies.
With the action in the film, too, not everything is smooth. The problem is unusual, and is the first fight of our guests from the future. He's great. Dynamic, driving, interestingly put fight. Best sixty seconds of the movie. This fight instantly sets the bar for quality that the film can no longer approach. The graphics are terrible, the production is not interesting, and the dynamics had to be slowed down for the old people.
In the end, the movie is bad. Terminator: Dark Fate is another failed attempt to revive the franchise. Authors should stop playing on nostalgia and try to repeat the unique. We need something new with a different approach. Let the old people rest and make new memorable characters. Stop being parasitic on the same story. Give us an interesting new story that you won’t be ashamed to see.
For me, the Terminator's classic diology was a cult franchise. As a teenager, my brother and I bought our first videotape, on which Terminator 2 was recorded. For unsophisticated spectacular films, the tape became a real trophy, we revised it hundreds of times, lost to holes and brought to the white heat of parents. I remember almost every moment of the film and still periodically review the diology with awe and nostalgia. But the next parts of Terminator became sacrilege for me to some extent, and even the new part could not keep the frame of the first films. The exception was the series The Sarah Connor Chronicles, which, in my opinion, is still the best, albeit unfinished version of the continuation of classical diology. Probably it is the wide timing of the series, a mixture of drama and a lot of plot twists – that’s what a full-fledged Terminator-3 really needs, but so far we have what we have.
The first thing that caught the eye when watching “Dark Fates” is that we are dealing with a disguised remake of the first two parts. The huge abundance of Easter eggs and plot moves almost made the new Terminator an analogue of the new remake of Star Wars – “The Force Awakens”. And Linda Hamilton plays the same role as Carey Fisher in the new SV, but does that give a sense of the spirit of the first films? No, and it's not about Linda, who really brought depth to the film. It is more about the plot and approach to the cinema.
The main focus of the film was on special effects. They are quite good, but still strangely give a sense of artificiality to the film. In Cameroon’s diology, special effects were moderate, giving the impression that the terminators were indeed part of our world, rather than being drawn on a computer. Explosions, chases, parkour are the elements of an action movie, but were the first movies action movies? Rather, it was a horror film about imminent evil, slowly pursuing the main character. A similar feeling I met in the film “It follows”, where the main character was slowly pursued by a terrible creature, despite any obstacles. The feeling of this fear was already lost on the third Terminator, the new authors forgot that it was a horror movie and began to focus on a fantastic action movie.
Here I would like to note the main antihero – robot REV-9, played by Gabriel Luna. The antagonist was not bad and dangerous, although it felt like we had seen something like this before. Nanomolecular flesh and the solid skeleton of the new Terminator, as if living their lives, were references to the T-1000 and T-800. But at the same time, there was no contrast between the antagonist and the heroine pursued by him. In classical diology, the terminator seemed to be opposed to its purpose. In the first part, a nice waitress was confronted by a kind of ruthless marginal in skin, punk guises and other elements of the 80s subculture. In the second part, an anarchist teenager was hunted as if an element of the system and law and order. In the dark fates, the heroes of the Moon and Reyes seem to be clutched from the same dough, there is no personal hostility between the hunter and the victim. The heroine Reyes has few moments where she meets her opponent alone. Yes, and the heroine almost can not open - too sharply began to unfold the events of the film, and the main role, like a blanket, the characters pulled on each other.
The fact that the main characters of the film were women on the one hand is not particularly surprising. Although the story of John Connor is shown, his conclusion from history is too sacrilegious. Now we see only three tired women chased by a hunter. It should be said that the reinvention of classic franchises through feminism did not always benefit films. Undoubtedly, the studio makes such moves in favor of new film standards, but the result often speaks for itself. The new “Star Wars”, “Ghostbusters”, etc. became a disappointment for fans of the series, similar to the new Terminator, but Tim Miller still managed to find some edges not to turn his heroines into miracle women. And Mackenzie Davis and Linda Hamilton played quite well, in their dialogues there is little pathos, except for a couple of phrases like “Ill be back.”
Once again, Linda Hamilton, although she brought a touch of the first diology, did not make us think that we have a story from the same universe. No, this is the next story in the next parallel universe like Terminator 3, Genesis, etc. The classic diology still ended with the elderly Sarah Connor watching the children play on the court, rejoicing at a future that has not come. This is the version that was in the cut end of the second Terminator, and there can be no other ending.
The story goes on... humanity is waiting for a savior.
"Terminator" and "Terminator 2" entered the history of cinema as one of the best representatives of this genre and the creator of the first two parts - James Cameron, as well as his numerous team of colleagues did a titanic job. Memorable images, pleasant visuals and animatronics even now amaze with their innovation, and a simple seemingly plot overgrown with various small details that made these films very whole.
Terminator: Dark Fate is a direct sequel to the sequel. All subsequent films after T2 can be considered alternative offshoots. For me, “T3” and “T4” are quite worthy continuations and each with its own special atmosphere. This time, James Cameron gave his direct attention to the project, acting as a producer and one of the screenwriters. Cameron offered the post of director to Tim Miller, who shot the acclaimed Deadpool. Miller, as a longtime fan of the original films about the cyborg T-800, was happy to take part and take the helm, although he understood that after the failed Genesis to bring the franchise on the right path will be very difficult.
For a long time, little was known about the film and closer to the end of filming, a lot of useful information about the cast, an approximate plot, was thrown at us. One by one, commercials began to come out. The first, by the way, was very controversial in terms of characters and visual effects, but each time the trailers began to include interesting shots, and the visual side began to look not so weak.
So what did I see in the cinema?
“Terminator: Dark Fate” should be considered as a separate film. If the viewer begins to draw eternal parallels with the original and the sequel, and also loads his head with negative thoughts before viewing, then probably the new project on the Terminator universe will seem the same as some previous paintings, moderately weak.
I will note that the new film is a head above its predecessor “Genesis”.
This time, Tim Miller and James Cameron return to the usual scheme of linear and uncomplicated plot (the first two films were exactly that). In my opinion, this is not a bad decision, if you remember what the writers screwed up in “Terminator Genesis”.
The structure of the film is very similar to the sequel, the set, the middle and the finale seem to repeat the path of “Judgment Day”.
“Terminator: Dark Fate” is a very dynamic film, which consists of 90% brutal and high-speed action, which is similar in its pitch to the sequel, but assertively comparable to the last “Mad Max”. Of course, there will be a lull and dramatic episodes will also not pass by, but the lion’s share of screen time is still a nuclear and stylish action.
Visual effects are quite a lot, but not all of them are successful, although in general the visual range is good, and in some moments even causes surprise and delight.
The storyline follows the same formula as Terminator 2, with the exception of a few scripted tricks. The drama, which is tied mainly to Sarah, sometimes looks and sounds with a note of falsehood, but the heroine really becomes pathetic at these moments. Thank you Linda for a good contribution.
The cast was selected quite successfully. The old guard in the face of the “iron” Arnie and Linda show off their experience and maturity. They play without much tension. By the way, Arnold and his character in Terminator 5 looked very ridiculous.
This time we see the same cyborg as in the sequel (in terms of facial expressions, manner of communication and slightly clumsy movement). Yes, it has aged on the outside, but its behavior and algorithms allow us to recall the very T-800, which has been so lacking since the days of Terminator 3.
Of course, there will be some ridiculous moments with his participation, but these are trifles compared to how his image was trampled on in Genesis. Of course, there are no longer those emotions that were felt in T2, when our old friend appeared in the frame, but here the authors at least tried to return a piece of that iron charisma.
The return of Linda Hamilton to the franchise was a big surprise that could turn into a failure, but the actress again got used to the role of Sarah Connor and successfully passed this test. Her character has become even tougher and more assertive, but she has not lost her humanity, and her love for John knows no bounds. By the way, there will be a moment in the film where she is still young and computer processing only slightly makes it clear that this is not a real actress, but only a simulated image.
The star of the film I will call Grace, played by Mackenzie Davis, who played the role of a modernized man from the future, sent to protect Dani Ramos (the new hope of mankind). The image is very strong, and her explosive nature, in addition to the direct task of saving the new leader of the resistance, turns her into a brutal soldier. But despite all the force and aggression, the character is very vulnerable, with his own personal tragedy. We can say that we have already seen such a hero in T4, but only partially. Marcus was more of a cyborg than Grace, and this is evident in their implants and protective systems.
Gabriel Luna plays the main villain. A new version of the cyborg codenamed Rev-9. The creature is very tenacious and more agile than the same T-1000. The Rev-9 consists of two complete organisms controlled by a single processor. Exoskeleton and liquid terminator. The enemy is doubly dangerous, but in the film he faces many more good guys, which makes his task more difficult, but even despite this fact, the Rev-9 follows the target as a real predator and its assertiveness sometimes really causes fear of constant persecution. A car that will never get tired or stop. The image turned out to be strong, memorable and the main merit is the adaptation of the actor to his role.
Natalia Reyes as Dani Ramos, this is humanity’s new hope (why not John, you’ll find out) in the fight against the Legion (why not Skynet, you’ll find out), which is a strange character with a set of different emotional outbursts. The actress tries, but often overplays and her psychos and tears are inappropriate in places. The image of this fragile and small Mexican woman does not fit well with the rebel leader and there will be proof of that. Although I probably miss John (he will be in the movie too).
The film takes place in one time interval, only the locations change, but also the viewer will be shown the future in Grace’s memories and the past, which completely changed the character of Sarah Connor. The initial and very successful scene of the film became another reference to "T2".
The final was daring, dangerous, but Dani Ramos, in my opinion, spoiled it a little. The elimination of Rev-9 was very interesting and with a bit of tension. I want to talk about the quality of the film.
The musical range is full of references, although in some places the music sounds pathetic.
In general, the project turned out to be successful and the viewer received a bridge to the next film.
Only Miller and Cameron know what awaits us. So far, their joint project has made me feel good.
In 1984, still little-known James Cameron released on the screens fantastic action movie “Terminator”, which became a real classic of his genre. But the real sensation was the continuation of “Judgment Day”, which launched the entire franchise. Her problem was that the writers so confused the plot that the founder of the franchise Cameron decided to take matters into his own hands and, ignoring all subsequent films after the release of the second part, wrote the script and this time produced a reboot of Terminator: Dark Fate.
Synopsis After that, Sarah Connor and her son John managed to prevent “Judgment Day”, she felt that this nightmare was over and they could live a normal family life. However, again and again arriving machines from the future turn her into a real hunter for terminators. Everything changes when another killer robot arrives from the future, whose mission is to destroy the mysterious girl Dani Ramos. But along the way, the Terminator has a female soldier who is a half-human half-machine, Grace, who joins forces with Sarah to protect Dani.
Game of actors In terms of acting, we can say that since the release of the first part, nothing has changed much. Linda Hamilton has successfully returned to the image of a female warrior Sarah Connor, who is sharp on a cynical language, capable with any type of weapon and, despite her age, stabbing any type she dislikes. Mackenzie Davis played the role of Grace, a man with the stuffing of a robot, who over the years of testing has brought up resistance and steadfastness in front of any obstacle. Of course, mocked the image of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the role of “Karl”, a killer robot who, having fallen into the past and fulfilled his mission, suddenly began a quiet family life.
Directorship By putting Tim Miller in the chair, James Cameron made the right choice. The film has a frantic rhythm. The director does not waste time on unnecessary sentiments or plot offshoots, which in the end would not play any role in the overall narrative. By contrast, Tim Miller fills the picture with epic action scenes that should keep the viewer on edge, whether it’s a truck chase, or a military plane, or the final fight at a hydroelectric power plant. Although, of course, their realism left much to be desired, but what about it – it’s an American fighter.
Scenario I noticed a curious tendency when the founders of franchises, in order to correct the mess that the creators of subsequent parts have chucked, return to their former roles of old heroes who supposedly must return the concept to the right track. Last year we saw a similar reboot of Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis. This year, James Cameron decided to return Sarah Connor to her former role, but at the same time to connect her with the plot of the second part so competently that the general canvas of the story has been preserved. In fact, he does it, observing the general logic, but this time introduces completely new characters into the plot. The action takes place in Mexico, where from the future arrives the killer robot Rev9 and half-human half-robot Grace. Both have the same mission – the ordinary young Mexican Daniela Ramos, on whom the fate of humanity depends. Only one must protect the girl and the other must destroy her. Here, of course, the plus was the idea of a half-human semi-robot, able to give equal resistance to the enemy, who in fact consists of two terminators. The plot itself is nothing new: the characters try to hide from the Terminator in order to eventually give him a decisive rebuff, which, of course, for some of the characters will be fatal. However, the plot is not without drawbacks, the key of which is the trend in the spirit of the modern “anti-Trump” Hollywood, where the savior of all mankind turns out to be a girl from the “hate” of the current President of Mexico. On the one hand, some “logical” plot moves played into the hands of the film, but, on the other hand, this politicized approach left mixed feelings.
Result In general, Terminator: Dark Fate is not a bad movie. Due to the fact that it was shot under the control of James Cameron, everything is done almost as it should: there is a familiar storyline with the arrival of robots from the future, the return of old characters, the necessary action, appropriate light humor and much more. Although when viewing you feel the moments I mentioned above, but in principle you can watch.

The case when you can not even briefly describe the plot, just as the scriptwriters decided not to introduce the viewer to the course of the matter - the story is known to everyone. Unfortunately, there is little new, but we tried to do well.
In short, we ran away, but then decided to fight back. Curtain.
However, the Terminator is still looking good. Unlike Genesis, there is a good casting and the actors are more convincing than not. I put Arnie and Linda down - they're flawless. But I liked Grace the most. It's a great contemporary female version of Kyle Rees. She's convincing, she's really from the future, and yes, she's a great fighter. Yes, everything in the film actually hints that “Terminator” can do without old heroes and start with a clean slate. T800 and Sarah are the insurance for the success of the film and hello to the fans.
Of course, "Dark Fate" takes a lot of nostalgia, and as I said here, it is essentially expensive fan fiction. Nevertheless, it is interesting to watch, the movie really pulls on the continuation of T2 and in contrast to “Rise of the Machines”, the creators tried to come up with something. The idea of a radically new future (not a belated skynet), with new terminators - I liked it. But the film does not say anything about the new. I would like to see more of the war of the future, learn more about new robots and the main antagonist.
The viewer is quickly introduced to the heroes, and not particularly acquainted, as if they were all, then you will see everything. Starting watching, I expected a calmer development, I wanted more penetration to each of the characters. Instead, the whole action falls out almost immediately. Then a break, chatter and again action to the credits.
Yeah, it's a good picture. Conscientious. It looks much better than Genesis. Anyone who wants to find computer graphics will, of course, I just enjoyed it. The drive is good and breathtaking 100%. I have no complaints about that.
The main mistake of the creators is story holes. I understand that they left a backlog for the sequels. And maybe they would have looked much better and clearer. But the fate of the sequel depends on what we see now – and this is unfortunately not enough for intrigue for the future.
A tarspoon for me was the finale. Yes, it is not bad, but where is the drama and emotions for the heroes? So naively behaved the new hope of humanity - no words, spoiler will not. But if they began to take ideas with t1 and t2 - then the final had to be done at a height, in the likeness of the original, on the verge of death. Then it would. Then I would have felt the whole two-hour struggle.
But no, the Terminators don't scare us anymore.
Leaving the cinema, I already knew that the ratings on “KinoPoisk” will be, to put it mildly, low. Not because the movie is really bad. Just because the burden of the original dilogy is too great, and if Cameron finally takes on the sequel, you automatically expect something fantastic, on a level. The catch is that to make such a balanced film, which would merge innovation and philosophy, drama and a little comedy, beautiful special effects and well-chosen actors, will not work. Therefore, it was not worth continuing the Terminator. But if you keep going, it's just like that.
"Terminator: Dark Fate" sweeps away all the trash released before it. No cowardly John Connors hiding in the trash, and no John Connors being taken over by Skynet. (The fate of John Connor, presented to the audience – the only adequate option for the development of this character, in my opinion) No Sar Connor, raised from childhood Terminators. No sloppy excursions into the predicted future. The story is over. The world is saved. Skynet is destroyed. And yet...
Mankind learns nothing and again creates its own enemy. The enemy stamps the terminators. Remnants of survivors learn to fight and defeat machines. The enemy makes the only right decision – to go back in time to destroy the one who will unite people in this war. Do you know me?
However, the new time sets new traps: GPS trackers, video surveillance systems – in the modern world it is very difficult to hide, even if you really want it. The classic story in a new incarnation is overgrown with interesting characters (the new “bad” one). The Terminator has an unusual property, “one foot here, another there,” as they say, and the Terminator-protector is not quite a terminator in the classical sense, new battle locations, but at the same time returns us beautiful Sarah and gently intertwined with the original parts of the franchise.
In this film, the creators allow themselves to joke, but do not mock the original, as it was in the third part, and do not hit the base, as it was in the fifth. The fourth film I deliberately take out of the brackets, because I perceive it as too separate from the main plot. The narrative is built classically: a new hero - a meeting with a killer cyborg - the appearance of a savior - a chase, etc., and, as for me, this is not at all bad, I have had enough of previous experiments.
One can hail this film for some predictability, for restraint and fear of experiments, for Schwarzenegger’s controversial introduction to the plot. But I know one thing: I left the premiere feeling like I was finally being loved. The whole film is made with great love for those who, like me, know the first films by heart in the original. Dynamics, music, angles, phrases. Do you say again? So be it. But for some time I did not want to wash off what I saw on the screen.
Sarah’s story (and for me it’s her story first and foremost) is closed – no more questions.
For the harmony of new and old -
Good day, everyone! I’m never a film critic, but after seeing so much negativity to this film, I decided to insert my five cents.
After the first viewing, I was satisfied, because after seeing negative reviews before going to the movies, I was sure that the new part was shot somewhere at the level of “genesis”, and maybe even lower.
But when I left the theater, I had, surprisingly, a double feeling. Don’t get me wrong: there are flaws in the film, there are a couple of things that, even after reading two books by Randall Frakes, made me a little confused.
But! I was satisfied with the film, because, contrary to reviews on one well-known video hosting, I did not see any message to feminism there, even if there are three “heroines”. The actor who played the antagonist-terminator, in my opinion, played his role well, in most scenes, his attempt to kill exactly his target, eliminating everyone who can interfere with him, stands out strongly; he is a robot who came to eliminate a person, not a “wrestler”. Further, unlike the same third or fifth part, there is no sense that the main characters are protected by the script. Graphics are not striking, terminators move and behave like terminators, and people - like people.
About the acting of Linda Hamilton and “iron” Arnie doesn't even have to say anything because I didn't doubt them.
Once again, there are flaws in the film, but I was pleased with it and believe that it did not deserve such a fierce hat. But it's up to you.
What was once portrayed as “catch-up with death” in the last two films has taken on the look of an action movie without a single concept.
In Dark Fates, James Cameron's return to production has borne fruit. Back at the beginning of the film, you can feel this spirit of the first two films, when we watched an exciting chase throughout the film with a lot of shootouts, everyone’s favorite “superpowers”. Terminators and Schwarzenegger.
I can’t say that the movie evokes “Wow” emotions, but it’s definitely worth seeing on the big screen. There are no special plot flaws in the film. If you forget about all the films after the second, the narrative is quite logical and linear. Sometimes it seems that some plot twists are taken out of thin air, but in the future they are quite reasonable explanation. In the film there are no wild temporal cataclysms (as it was in Genesis), and therefore the brain does not burst to the cat of the film from the thought of infinity, etc.
Of the disadvantages, we can distinguish the lack of a clear goal for the characters. It is clear that saving the main character as the leader of the resistance is quite a worthy task, but why not use the more reasonable concept of T2 and T3 about the need to destroy the evil AI (even if it is not from this time, you could at least learn from the guys from the future what, when and how will happen to prevent the threat). The second small disadvantage is too human speech of Schwarzenegger (after all, he is an older model than the new Terminators).
In general, the film deservedly restarted the universe. At least one can trace the heredity of Cameron’s Terminator films and the logic of the narrative. Well, a large number of explosions, weapons, chase and Mexicans will certainly entertain the viewer.

I'm not going to judge graphics and actors. The first is secondary, the second is as usual.
Of the pluses: the dynamics of scenes with fights between guys from the future, fleeting moments of the very atmosphere of hopelessness and inevitability from the first film, the moment when Hamilton’s voice trembles during the story and a lump appears in his throat (pay attention to the neck), the absence of “sagging” moments and ... everything.
The rest is a typical example of modern cinema. And it's not a feminist bias -- it's not that obvious. After it is neither cold nor hot - nothing.
There is no fresh idea in the script, no actual problem, the solution of which would cost more than two hours to show. And therefore there is an artificial inventing of problems on the ground and the same artificial solution. And in some cases, incredibly delusional. And because of the plot twists they can be anything unpredictable, but they do not catch. What sequels? What's there to show?
Dialogues also do not help, because of the same unnaturalness and “stamping”. “I am active”, “I can do anything”, “you can do anything”, “I never” and everything in this tone.
And for some reason a decent number of unnecessary jokes, absolutely false. Even if you omit the idea of why they are in the Terminator... but it is better not to joke at all than to try to do it this way.
But the best part is the first two films. Before the release of this masterpiece, it was said that all the films after “Judgment Day” “was not”, but it turned out that the first two parts “was not”, that is, there were, but they were not needed. It does not matter what happens in this, and in the next, and in the next.
About Cameron. On the one hand, either Miller is in his fan club or he really had a hand in it. Because in the film there are a lot of both “creative” repetitions and absolutely false fan service. The first is when you do not know a good move and therefore resort to the one that was good, on the one hand too detailed, and on the other without taking into account the changed circumstances. The last time I remember that in The Hobbits was when Jackson repeated himself. The second is understandable.
And if Cameron considers this script and film normal, then the continuation of Avatar is a little scary.

I’ll be as brief as I can and recap my impressions of the film. Terminator is a great franchise, but long ago and reliably buried under all the consumer goods that came out after the second part. Everyone knows that, though. But today, in the era of remakes, such franchises are not allowed to rest peacefully on the pages of history - that's up to ' Cyborg Killers' got there for the second time. ' Genesis' was so terrible that it just could not highlight anything positive in it. Did Cameron and Miller do better?
Yes, of course it did. ' Dark Fate' much better 'Genesis' but this, unfortunately, the pluses of the new picture end. The script is strong only in those places where strictly follows the plot of Cameron’s films, otherwise it is teeming with inefficiencies, plot holes, outright stupidity and what Evgeny Bazhenov calls “Bondarchuk’s guns” & #39; The action is not impressive, and some moments with graphics and do not look natural and ridiculous: released in the distant 91st & #39; Judgment Day' makes a novelty in all respects even in the context of the visual, because in this next graphonist attraction simply has nothing to catch the eye. Natalia Reyes openly overplays, and her character develops too quickly and unnaturally: a minute - and the frightened girl turns into a storm of terms and Che Guevara in a skirt. Linda Hamilton looks colorful, the behavior of her character is exactly what you would expect from the aging Sarah Connor, but the plot does not need it, as other reviewers have already noted: the story would quietly exist without her, and she is present in the narrative, apparently, solely for the sake of nostalgia. Like Schwartz, of course, although, it would seem, an example of ' Genesis' clearly demonstrated that from the idea with ' old' Terminator nothing worthwhile will come out (thankfully, here he at least does not whine about his old age at every step, but humor is about as inappropriate). Gabriel Luna plays decently, although he looks half as sinister as Robert Patrick; however, towards the end, the authors still manage to deprive the character of any solidity and impressiveness (as, I won’t say, to avoid spoilers, of course). Mackenzie Davis is nice to watch - this wonderful actress is trying to pull the vaudeville around her on her shoulders alone, but her performance, magnificent, as always, for this, alas, is not enough. I sincerely hope to see her next time in a more worthy project.
Interesting ideas can be counted on the fingers – the terminator-matryoshka, the search for meaning of existence by a robot that has fulfilled its mission ... and that’s all, in general. There is a strong point in the final scene: apparently, the director meant it when he said that 'final ' Dark Destinies' knocks out a tear' A tear does not knock out, and the situation does not save, of course, but it was done well. The film itself looks advantageous only in comparison with the very bottom like the same ' Genesis' the third and fourth films outplay the sixth part at least in terms of the number of original ideas.
That's all. Another useless sequel to the legendary franchise, which no one asked for. Another faceless action, another uncanny drama. Only disappointment is no longer there, since the endless stream of humbug remakes has long made it clear that to expect something worthy of all these sequels and rethinkings is a thankless matter.
In 2003, at the 1st morning session on the 1st day of T3 rental in Pushkin Apple there was nowhere to fall. All of the fans’ conversations before we watched were about, ‘Can Arnie do it?’ Age. In 2019, the empty room and the question: “Is it worse than Genesis?” In 2003, fans downloaded leaked unduplicated scenes and backstage from foreign sites to get a sense of what the film was about. In 2019, the creators merged the entire plot and all the intrigues themselves. In the trailers.
The Haters handed down their sentence before the premiere. Distributors and advertisers called: "The best continuation of the second part."
So how did the creators try to revive the buried franchise? Nothing. Only nostalgia. In T6 there is not a single component for which you can put a solid five. This is a blatant spit in the face of a viewer who remembers crying as Sarah melted the T-800.
Acting? She's gone. Young people are so young. With two facial expressions for the entire film. And the old ones don't come out anymore.
Soundtrack? Oh, Gods! I know self-taught people who use harmonica and guitar to give more drama. It would be better to record the love pleasures of pigeons and translated into an 8-bit format.
Special effects? I don’t care about them, but they cut my eyes even at the end of the movie. It's terrible. What was the director thinking when he took the final version of the film, with an emphasis on the graphics, where the hack is visible in each frame?
And now, my favorite. Plot. It's linear. No Genesis game. That's good. That's all the pluses. T1 and T2 were first of all a thriller, and then militants. There the despair of heroes was perfectly conveyed. They can't beat such a machine, they're doomed. Terminator was terrifying. Hihanki hahanki, started in T3. There are fewer of them in T6, but the level of humor will not be appreciated even by those who were kicked out of PTU. All dialogues are about the same level, as if the cinema is designed for those for whom “Ryaba Chicken” is the only work read.
T6 cannot be a continuation of T2, since there are more than a dozen obvious logical blunders and epicfiles in this picture (only those that I noticed in one view). I’m not talking about the laws of physics. It's just sad and sad. T6's plot does not continue T1 and T2, it crosses them out. You are told plainly that previous stories are nonsense and should be quickly forgotten.
But worst of all, the T9 stole all the key scenes from T2, and a little bit from T1 and T3. Truck chases, helicopter chases, T-800 injuries, and even episodes of contractions are re-shot, not re-invented. The new “liquid” tries to copy the T-1000, even the steering wheel holds the same.
But the worst part is that there's no one to empathize with in T6. The antagonist is cardboard and not scary. He's killing like a fake. Heroes are not revealed at all (except Sarah, she is revealed in T1 and T2), the T-800 has a wild, surreal motivation (if you want the task). Hence, the final scene evokes nothing but homeric laughter. It didn’t matter who died in the end. Sarah, T-800, Mexican, non-Mexican or new liquid. All at once.
So instead of continuing with T2, we got a remake of T2. Only frankly poorly filmed. In general, it would be a real T2 if Skynet sent a Terminator in '91 to remove the brain of James Cameron.
3 out of 10
If that goes on, I'm afraid they'll shoot the T7, T8 and T9. And then I'll have to compare these movies to the T9 phone program. And I'm not sure which one will win.
