Well, I watched the Ambulance, not expecting anything in advance from this film, but... how wrong I was.
What's the movie about?
About how the guys once decided to rob a bank. About two brothers, one of whom was born to live dashingly, and the other decided to find an easy way out. Well, or fast, because the main characters, of course, throughout the film had absolutely not easy - the whole city chases them, everyone shoots at them, and the light at the end of the tunnel is weak. But in the end, they cannot be justified by all these "there was no other way out" and so on. Yes, Will had a better reason, his wife was sick, he needed money urgently, but frankly, too quickly he succumbed to his brother's persuasion to rob a bank. It seems he just needed an excuse. And so in a good way you could somehow try to get money: loans, loans, someone else to borrow, in short, not so hopeless. But he decided to cut down quickly and rob the bank together in his brother. As for Danny, he did not hide that he likes such a life, excitement, drive, well, plus more money, of course. The guy's hot blood, hot head, too much. No tower, as one of the characters said.
Actors.
Everyone handled well that Yahya Abdul-Mateen, that Eisa Gonzalez, but the main star here, of course, is my adored Jake Gyllenhaal. This is probably my favorite of his roles, and since I love him with a passionate love and have watched almost all of his films, I know what I’m talking about. In general, I really love it when Jake takes the roles of these live characters that allow him to reveal the charisma that lurks in him to the maximum. And in the Ambulance, Jake and his character Danny had the opportunity to shine at the full power of their wild and unrealistically tasty energy, there is so much life in Danny! This turbulent energy literally overwhelms him and pours through the screen, he is like fire, and you believe that he will move mountains on this fire! He lives every minute as he feels: he wants to yell and shoot - yells and shoots, wants to joke - funny jokes, wants to listen to music and relax - pulls out headphones right in the middle of a chase not for life, but for death. Well, how not to like that? I suspect we'd all like to be like Danny. This is how we live without any prohibitions. I think Jake had a lot of fun playing Danny, because we Sagittarius are all a little hello, and that kind of frantic energy on the verge of madness is our element. But Danny's not only a tough guy, he's also capable of love. No matter how much he trades with other people, he loves Will. I loved him until the end. No matter what. Danny's team may have been his cannon fodder, but here's Will. For him, Danny would do anything.
Plot.
Expected clichés, platitudes, pathos. But I didn't see any of it. There were really non-standard dialogues, unexpected turns, well-written dialogues! Yes, plus also excellent camera work, everything is so bright, beautiful, with non-standard camera approaches at sunset, in which Jake’s blue eyes shine so bright.
This is a great action movie, dynamic, with the energy of Mad Max, to be honest, there is also more than 2 hours it was impossible to take your eyes off the screen. So quickly unfolding events, so unpredictable react to them our heroes.
An additional plus I want to bet for the fact that there was not this "what you dragged me into" on the part of a conditionally good brother. I was waiting for this, but Will was glad that he didn't shift the responsibility to Danny and whine, that if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have gotten in. No, Will understands perfectly well that it was his choice, his decision, and he alone is to blame.

The top ten favorite fighters of all time is definitely included.
The film runs for 132 minutes, of which 100 minutes is a single chase. The script is there, but I don’t remember it. Logic, dialogue, mise-en-scene, it's not about this movie. The main thing in this film is the pursuit, and for what, for whom and why does not play any significant role, the main thing is the process itself. The prologue with an epilogue could not be removed at all, the timing of the chase alone is enough for a full-length film. The ending is very weak, just nothing. Bandits are not sorry at all, and the woman just infuriates. And the morale of the film is strange.
The long chase is exhausting, there is nothing extraordinary about it. A violation of the law of universal gravitation and galloping as in "Transformers" camera annoying, optical stabilizer operator is badly lacking.
Only Jake Gyllenhaal plays his part. Asa Gonzalez is here for beauty, Michael Bay can not do without Latin beauties in his films, in Transformers it was Megan Fox, in this movie her place was taken by Asa Gonzalez. “Stanned” brother is purely for the company, otherwise it is impossible now in Hollywood, other extras. According to the canons, the viewer should sympathize with the main characters, even if they are negative characters, but this is not here, because they are all stupid. And even for the main character does not worry, although she is a positive hero.
The film does not carry any semantic load, pure visual. If you like car chases, peep-puff and big babahas, then this movie is for you.
I have never written reviews, although I consider myself a movie man and on the Kinopoisk since its appearance.
But this film touched me very much and it is sad that there are not many positive reviews. So I decided to finally come out of the shadows.
For me, this is a wonderful film in every way.
Directing at the top is a master at the helm, everything here is organic: action scenes, humor in the right places, the quality of filming (bravo to the operator!), music, dialogue and interaction of actors!
The script is super: a mixture of very dynamic plot and drama! Again, humor in a good place, sadness, anger, everything is not so clear, there is no black and white understanding. The brothers are different, but they are real brothers, ready to give everything for each other except their conscience. There is no condemnation of the screenwriter, just their life has developed so, and now they are in serious trouble, yes, people are dying, they are involved in this, but in another way and could not be. That's where the drama comes in. The writer does not condemn them, he tries to find in each of them humanity.
Maybe someone else remembers old movies like Speed with Keanu Reeves and my favorite Combat with Al Pacino and Robert de Niro. For me, the movie “Ambulance” is to some extent a mixture of these two films.
Of course, if you want, you can find small shoals in the plot, but who among us is “without sin – let him throw a stone at me first.”
2.5 hours did not fly noticeable and it is even a pity that the film ended so soon.
Playing actors is the highest ball! Everyone involved in this work is on top, even those who are in the episodes.
Jake Gyllenhaal has always been one of my favorite actors. Starting with the old tapes of “October Sky” and “Donnie Darko” and already more modern “Prisoners”, “Patrol”, “Left” and finally – “Translator”.
I admire him, he’s made for dramatic roles. And here he is also on top!
Together with Yahya and Eisa – they’ve created one of the best acting trios in a long time that I’ve watched movies – 80% of the film is about communicating and interacting in one shot of this trio! Bravo, guys!!
Definitely one of the best dramatic action films of the last decade and the best film of 2022! I highly recommend it!
If it wasn't for Gyllenhaal, I wouldn't have seen this movie, because the director is Michael Bay. Just so you know who this man is, he's got two golden raspberries, Transformer movies, Ninja Turtles, and the stinky Pearl Harbor that I was so mad at that I was twice rejected. This is the worst director you can find. All he can do is make sub-popcorn action movies for huge budgets. He is one of those responsible for the fact that cinemas in the tenth years were like rides rather than art galleries. They devalue cinema as art, and slash the money on an incomprehensible audience. I haven't crossed paths with people like that. Perhaps somewhere there is an army of children with “features” and we do not know anything about it?
A man's wife is dying, they can't help him because he has no money. He asks for help from his brother, and his brother offers him to rob a bank. It's a pretty clichéd start, but then it starts full of smelly basket socks. Everything that moves is dull here: the main characters who planned the operation on the knee, it is unclear where the missing bank guard is... Then, during the chase, more stupidity begins. All participants in the operation appear to have an IQ below 80. Someone came to the operation in slippers, someone running down the street with a kalash, apparently thinking that this is the best way to escape, the chief of police in the suit of a janitor McDonald’s arrives in his grandmother’s car on a mission with a huge domestic dog. And it doesn’t end there, it’s just the first 30 minutes of the movie!
I was also annoyed by the main characters. Yeah, even Gyllenhall. Michael Bay could not do otherwise: everyone is as stupid as possible, but especially a stupid doctor in the ambulance. She's kind of all cool, like cynical, don't ask her questions outside of work. If Nevzorov was a closed idiot, he would look like this. It's just not real.
You can only watch it because the budget is too big again, so there are a lot of special effects and destruction. Good thing the ambulance didn't turn into Optimus Prime. Well, if you do not pay attention to the stupid behavior of the main characters, then in the end colorful brothers are not bad.
Bring the girl to watch this movie. She gets so bored that she offers you sex to avoid watching it. Good luck.

Became one of the main failures of 2022, the film “Ambulance” by Michael Bay can be maliciously, but without anger, called a ridiculous game of maFynki. With respect. Arguing my position. There are two reasons to watch this movie: Michael Bay and Jake Gyllenhaal.
During the period of covedic restrictions, producers did not allow to make a big movie, as this was fraught with an exorbitant increase in the budget. So Mile Bay's agent picked him up a small movie that could be made quickly and felt like a director.
In the film, we feel Michael Bay’s style in every scene. A juicy, bright picture, clip montage, mind-blowing views from the air, original camera spans, close-ups with a focus on emotions and frank admiration of modern maslcars!
One gets the impression that Michael Bay made the film for the sake of making the film. In it, he played with his heart in pursuit, explosions and broken cars. Ask yourself, where did $40 million go? They're on the cars. The second helicopter in a scene in which he was not needed in the plot, but in which the director included him simply because he really wanted to. Just see how it looks in the frame.
If you think of this movie as a guinea pig training to do something great in the future, that’s okay. But if we consider it as a complete, decorated unit, then there is nothing more in it than maFynok.
The main characteristic of the film is “ridiculous”. Once again: with all due respect to the (this subjective opinion, great) director who directed The Rock, Armageddon, Bad Boys and Pearl Harbor and co-producer Jack Ryan!
The script of the film is absolutely ridiculous. You could say he's not there. The plot, the canvas is, but there is no integral script.
First we are introduced to the main characters, then a small bank robbery, then the main characters sit in an ambulance ... and ... one hour and twenty-five minutes of screen time spend inside the ambulance. Then comes a short and pseudo-epic ending. Curtain.
You might be puzzled and count how many times throughout the film you’ll come up with the question, “Why?” or you’ll say, “This is serious.” The conditional Stanislavsky inside you will be shouting throughout the film: “I don’t believe!” Pay special attention to episodes with a girl in a car, a dog, a machine gun and a hairpin.
The motivation of one of the main characters is not revealed in any way. Jake Gyllenhaal himself has no complaints about acting. Looking at him in the picture is a pleasure. But the image he embodies on the screen is perceived as a patchwork blanket. It doesn't have integrity. I don’t know who is “guilty” about this: the writer, the director or the actor. But this character is the most incomprehensible.
The second main character and the actor who played him are even and do not cause questions. Note that the actress who plays the main character as two drops of water is similar to Megan Fox. No conclusions, just a fact.
The secondary characters are bright and textured. Especially the hero of Garrett Dillahant.
Michael Bay is a patriot of his country, he is proud of it and what it should be, so his film is very American. The pseudo-epic finale and conclusions that the viewer “should” make for himself will resonate in us with the Zadornovskaya phrase “Well, stupid ...”. To my subjective taste, the only sane thought in the film is seen in the timing 2:13:40. Makes you think.
If you are looking for drama, psychology, acting or reasons to think - pass by this picture.
If you want to forget the surrounding reality for a while and plunge into the sea of drive and action, this film is for you.
P.S. Multiculturalism and the agenda look disgusting.
“Guilty” on Netflix, before it was turned off for the Russian audience, I managed to watch five times, probably. The film is literally about rupturing the aorta, which is Gyllenhaal's strongest role to me. So when another Ambulance movie came out (I don’t know if it’s on Netflix or not, my subscription doesn’t work anymore), I was expecting something even bigger. The film is not bad, the hardest decent eight out of ten, and yet not the stunning 10 (in my head all 12) that Guilty deserved.
I started watching the ambulance without bothering to read the description of the plot. I thought it was a movie about doctors and Jake was going to save people. It turns out that Jake is playing the bad guy. No less cute, of course, but still I was confused, because the cover of the film does not hint at this at all. It looks like a standard poster for the next series about doctors.
I'm writing a review and I think if it wasn't for Jake and the ending of the movie, I probably would have left a rating of 7 or maybe even 6. Because the plot is quite simple and apart from the chase and shootouts, there is nothing special: no character development, no deafening plot twists. It's pretty predictable. But, first, Jake, as usual, played his role by all 110 points out of 10 - some points still deserve a rating of eight. Especially phone calls and close-ups of his face. Somehow, it seems that close-ups were created in the film industry specifically for Jake. He has very expressive eyes and eyebrows, and sometimes this is enough to create the right atmosphere.
The end of the film from the series "a fairy tale is a lie, but there is a hint in it, a lesson to good guys." Something like "evil is always punishable" and "be a good guy so you don't end up like that." In general, of course, it is a shame, because towards the end of the plot kind of tried to show us the deafening development of the character, but again something was missing, did not last. It’s fun to watch, but I’m not going to review how “guilty” is.
Here's the epic. Michael Bay (Transformers) may not be the most pleasant person in communication, but he definitely knows how to do his job and does it well.
“Ambulance” shamelessly takes the money from the Central Asia “Fast and Furious”, while Vinchik-Family-This-Main-Dieselek right on his birthday fries under the scorching sun of Italy on the set of the tenth issue.
The genius of editing and the king of super close-up Bay is in a difficult situation:
In the caste should be all races, there is a risk of falling out of the budget, in the main role is the softest Jake, from which you need to blind the feisty robber-shorter, sleepless nights are provided.
Not only screenwriters, here is the plot: of course, a black, poor guy, of course, risked his life in Afghanistan (?), of course, his wife, whose operation, of course, needs thousands of two hundred greens, which, of course, the poor little one does not.
And of course, there is no more logical way to make him happy than to rob a bank.
And this is in 2022.
Having lived for 7 years in LA, I cannot help but reveal the secret: the implementation of such a plan is close to impossible.
In all 7 years, I have not only never seen or heard of this, but I have not even read it in the newspapers, although every day some weirdos did some strange things for even stranger reasons.
It’s nice to see how too quickly rising Eisa Gonzalez, without strain, fills with just cooled after Megan Fox, a place in the frame at Bay.
Michael shoots his beauties well, but only his city he shoots as a beloved woman.
The cameraman and editor read the thoughts of the master of the high-budget action without words, although, I bet, Michael sat in the editing himself - too hard for him to lose control. There is nothing to say about history, this is a film of stuntmen risking their lives for our entertainment, heroes who for almost a hundred years can not get even a nomination from the Academy.
In short, if you're sick of Zen and you can't live without the clanging of cartridges, howling sirens or the crackling of police turntables, Michael won't let you go to the toilet for a second, and we'll definitely go through Jake thoroughly, some other time.
War veteran Will Sharp is in desperate need of money for his sick wife's surgery. He turns to his brother Danny, who is planning a robbery. Will's skills as a driver can be useful here. But everything goes awry and the two brothers find themselves in the ambulance along with the wounded police officer and nurse Cam.
Michael Bay's new work is a remake of the 2005 Danish film. As you know, this director does not like critics, but here the reviews were mostly positive. Bay got a pretty tightly knit action in a confined space. Of course, it was not without the director’s signature chips: long flights of the camera and explosions, but here it does not look deliberate and attractive. The plot, of course, is quite absurd, but no one watches Bay for the sake of clear drama.
Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul Mateen and Eisa Gonzalez. Of course, two brothers of different skin colours look a little strange, well, maybe half-brothers. Gyllenhaal is at the center of the story, although formally the main character is Mateen's character. Jake plays at his usual level, you believe him, and the character is ambiguous. Although the turn with the fact that in the finale he was blown away somewhat by the ears, the whole film he was still not a psychopath. The rest are playing at the level, although the nurse performed by Asa Gonzalez has the feeling that on the podium. There's so much going on around her, and she looks like a glossy picture. It's a heroic nurse.
It is worth praising the dynamics of the picture. Despite the fact that the film is two hours from the screen is difficult to come off, in the frame always something happens. There are, of course, a few extra long plans with the city staff, but this is Michael Bay what you wanted from him.
A high-speed adrenaline action movie. Not to say that this is something outstanding, but perhaps the best film Director in recent years.
7 out of 10
Very bad action movie. I had modest expectations: I just wanted to see a spectacular action movie without much semantics. The film couldn't even do that.
Ambulance is very unpleasantly filmed. There's an abundance of constant circular flybys of the camera in dialogue, an excess of drone footage, and very fast and chaotic chases and shootouts that you can't see any of this happening.
The film is delayed, the timekeeping at 2 hours and 20 minutes stretches the torture for the eyes even more.
In films of this genre, it is not customary to make claims to the characters and acting, but since I did not like the film, I will nevertheless state: the characters do not look like real people, they are archetypes. They say cliché.
Among the acting jobs "stand out" Jake Gillenhall. It feels like one of the most talented actors of our time went into circulation. It is hard to believe that the twisting and replaying actor starred in Destruction, Night Animals, Donnie Darko and dozens of other hits. His character in the ambulance reminded his own Mysterio from the MCU.
Asa Gonzalez played a generic female fighter. Even Bay's signature angle on the fifth point of the actress is present.
The main role was played by Yahya Abdul-Matin II, known to you, for example, from the role of Black Manta from Aquaman. I have the least complaints about this actor.
I don't recommend this movie to anyone. He is deadly boring and unsightly - this is a sentence for a militant.

Two films in a row in Jake Gyllenhall's career are remakes of European thrillers that have been Americanized by more than famous directors. In 2021 came the film ' Guilty' which was shot by Antoine Fuqua, well, in 2022 - ' Ambulance' from Michael Bay, which gradually returns to the genre in which he made a name for himself. To the fighter.
So two brothers, Will (Yahya Abdul-Mateen) and Danny (Jake Gyllenhaal), rob a bank along with several other accomplices. Danny is basically into this business, and Will agrees because he needs the money for his wife’s surgery. Because of one cop who decides to make a date for a bank employee (the one the guys decided to rob), things don’t go according to plan and an ordinary gang robbery turns into a crazy race through the streets of Los Angeles. Will and Danny steal a car ' Ambulance' with a paramedic and a patient and this race becomes also a race against time, because the injured person inside the car - bleeding.
The rather mediocre rating of the picture is due to the fact that in places the plot causes questions and looks quite raw. To believe that Danny committed more than one such robbery (as the cops say in the course of events), is very difficult, because Danny and his comrades behave like amateurs.
Banality, but still: what robber would call his accomplices by name in the presence of witnesses? And what kind of robber will shine his face (even if the cameras are off)? Or why does the police stand idle when one of the criminals sticks out half of the car, shoots at the pursuers, but no one can catch him in a sniper sight?! Why sometimes police cars behave like the dumbest cops and can not take in a tight ring of fugitives to block the ambulance in one area and just starve? It is clear that the answer to the last two questions will be something like this: to make the film more spectacular, because no one is interested in watching an hour and a half as the car is surrounded. What’s the best way to watch high-speed chases, right?
Anyway, but ' Ambulance' really has quite a lot ' white' spots that can be regarded as shortcomings and directorial blunders. Bay tried to minimize them due to constant dynamics, action, an abundance of bullets fired and, of course, police cars shattered to the dust. To do this it turned out with varying success - all the same flaws are striking, but in ' Ambulance' really do not take away a large amount of action.
And if you like action movies in the first place for this, then the new Michael Bay film you will definitely like.
By the way, the director decided to add to his new project references to his earlier works. It is no coincidence that the hero of Garrett Dillahant is in his character, appearance and behavior similar to the hero Joe Pantoliano from ' Bad Boys'. Plus ' Ambulance' regularly refers to the second director in the project Bay - ' Rock'. There are whole phrases (about the queen of the ball), and spectacular exits of the characters from the car with the camera operator located at an angle (remember how Stanley Goodspeed, performed by Nick Cage, came out of a yellow Ferrari, after that he arranged a hot chase for the character of Sir Sean Connery?), and of course the chases themselves through the streets. In terms of chasing Bay, of course, the master and all these swept away shopping trays, garbage cans and broken cars are characteristic features of car chases in Bay projects.
Returning to the work of the operator, it is worth noting that shooting from the copter made it possible to turn the already active narrative into something so drive that after moving the camera, the head can go around! In fact, shooting in ' Ambulance' it turned out to be cool - the camera constantly moves after the heroes, behind the machines, creating the effect of presence and giving the opportunity to watch chases and shootouts not from one angle (and not even from two), but in a three-dimensional format from all sides.
At least for the submission of material ' Ambulance ' should be noted. The flaws in the plot deprive the film of several points, but I think it is quite suitable for seven.
But look at you. I do not impose my opinion on anyone.
Ale, is this an ambulance? Can I have Asa Gonzalez?
Without further words - ' Ambulance' it's in-'Beevsky' Old-school action movie, filmed in the best traditions of the master of explosions and giving vaibs action films zero. Strong, tense narrative, coupled with almost incessant dynamics and quite colorful, albeit one-sided characters.
A fairly ordinary story for the world of cinema about a former military man who stood on a curved path for a good purpose, literally stands on the wheels of a long, incessant chase. Yes, in fact, the whole film is one scene of the chase, with only a small respite to allow the characters to re-sink the gas pedal.
And yes, Michael Bay was able to make an interesting film, which is actually one big action scene. The tape does not get tired, because during the chase there is a place for calmer, even dramatic moments.
The main screen trio - Jake Gyllenhaal, Asa Gonzalez and Yahya Abdul-Matin II - showed themselves worthy. About Gyllenhaal is not even worth talking - the actor feels equally well in action films, and in dramatic roles, and in Marvel cartoons. Gonzalez played very well. I didn’t think highly of her acting abilities before, but Michael Bay apparently was able to reveal her talent.
Verdict: ' Ambulance' this is a drive action movie, which is undoubtedly worth recommending to all fans of the genre and creativity of Michael Bay in particular. Despite the fact that it passed relatively unnoticed, impressions leave purely positive, heavyweight throwing aside many militants of recent years.
Every ordinary person wants to see in a movie not just something unusual about someone, but about someone who surpasses him. That someone might be smarter, stronger, nobler. Often this function is performed by superheroes, who by default are the embodiment of something superior. But sometimes it is tried on by obviously negative characters: criminals who are at least more desperate than the average viewer. However, such characters as the main - so a variant, because in the movie there should be something optimistic. And then the heroes of conditional news reports are invited to the “stage” – firefighters, rescuers and, of course, doctors. Doctors combine several qualities at once: intelligence, reaction speed, ability to make decisions, courage - perfect! “Emergency” Michael Bay combines not only, in fact, the adventures of the doctor, but also the adventure of criminals, presenting the viewer with several types of heroes, perhaps already attracting his attention.
It’s hard to find any conscious thought in movies like Ambulance. However, even here it has a place: it is the idea of fraternity as a kinship or educational bond. Choosing the main characters not just different stepbrothers, but even outwardly radically different, the director seems to specially draw a line between them. At first, it is quite imperceptible, the author creates a picture of affection and trust between long-known people who grew up together. But as the film pulls these two into the story, the difference between the two becomes clearer and clearer. Making one character emphatically bad and the other conditionally good, Bay adds a little biographical details, consciously or not leading to the conclusion that the main thing in a person is not the environment of upbringing, not the family, but blood and genetic predisposition. In other words, whether or not a person is a scoundrel determines who their biological parents were. Well, I think, although some will agree with this idea, for modern society such theories of the predominance of nature (i.e. genes) over civilization (i.e. upbringing) are, if not unacceptable, then very, very controversial. It is rather strange that they are broadcast from the screen.
The plot of the picture is quite primitive, however, it is very dynamic, but the reason for this is the intrigue around saving human life, and not the question of the success of the originally conceived enterprise, the result of which is obvious from the first screen minutes. However, it cannot be said that the Ambulance cares at all about such complex matters as the value of human life, even if there is room in the film for such things as the Hippocratic Oath and its unshakable, undeniable power. The fact is that the dying person is the only obvious uncertainty for the picture, the only reason why the chase took place at all in such a long form, as well as the reason for some kind of communication between two criminal heroes and one paramedic heroine. However, it is also not necessary to overestimate the role of the “candidate in the dead”: all the fuss with him is task after task, case after case, designed solely to hold attention and add elements of adventure to the usual senseless chase.
From the first shots, the Ambulance throws a whole “flock” of fishing rods on the topic of possible connections between people, including such as professional cynicism, kinship, family, some semblance of a love line, later friendship – in general, a lot of all sorts of ideas. In fact, most of these blanks are not used in any way, moreover, even the relationship between the three main characters does not really find development. Don't get it wrong, I'm not for medic Cam to develop Stockholm Syndrome or for bank robbers to suddenly become passionate about her. But something must change, considering that together this trio not only hid from the chase, but also saved the patient. I think that something similar in the ambulance in some primitive form was even laid at least in the form of a relationship of a conditionally good robber and Cam, but this relationship looks like a necessary manipulation on her part mixed with professional duty, but not a kind of sympathy that broke the gap of professional cynicism. Amazingly, the most one-sided role in the “Ambulance” in Jake Gyllenhaal, whose character is not so much developing as shining with new and new facets of heartlessness and cruelty, which does not change, in fact, even the final twist of the plot. By the way, the finale is very doubtful for Cam: perhaps the screenwriters wanted to show changes in it, making a kind of reference to the beginning of the picture, but ... the reference in this form indicates the loss of the necessary heroine of professional detachment, which is fraught for her. You can not miss everything through yourself, and in this regard, her behavior at the beginning of the picture is just right, because there she is fenced off from the pain of others by a wall of calm, but externally for the patient she is herself compassion and kindness. If this is not only external, can a good doctor work for a long time? Big question.
I highly appreciate Ambulance as an evening of entertainment, because this film is noisy, dynamic, with moderate humor and a simple, simple plot to turn off the brain. The 2-plus hours that he goes will surely bring pleasure. Of course, the whole medical part is one grandiose assumption and delusional fantasy, but the film is not medical, but decorative and medical, where all this topic is needed only to create some intrigue. Perhaps I lacked some kind of humanity in the film, but, on the other hand, what kind of humanity can we talk about in a situation of pursuit with the participation of people who are definitely not up to soul communication? In general, if you do not strictly judge, then everything is good, but if by all accounts - then everything is not very good. But, if you correct the shortcomings, then it may not be a bright action, but a drama, and this was hardly the goal of the entire film crew.
Creating remakes of certain foreign films has long been a common phenomenon in American cinema. After all, why invent a new story, if there is already and is very favorably received by viewers and critics. Another addition to these ranks was the "Ambulance" directed by Michael Bay.
The plot of this film revolves around a retired military Will Sharp, who desperately needs money for an experimental operation for a deadly large wife. He enlists the help of Danny's half-brother, who draws him into a bank robbery. However, everything is not going according to plan, the brothers have to steal an ambulance along with a doctor and a seriously wounded police officer.
The script can definitely be called one of the most controversial elements of this tape. I did not watch the original film of the Dane Laurits Munk-Petersen and I cannot judge the quality of the adaptation, as well as the changes made by screenwriter Chris Fedak. We can only say that having a potentially interesting idea on hand, in my opinion, the authors of this tape did not “press” all its potential on the screen.
From the very first shots, it is obvious what will happen on the screen and how this film will end in the end. However, the story does not look bad and interesting. In many ways, due to the rather interesting presentation and disclosure of the two main characters, which at the end of the viewing can not be called either purely positive or purely negative characters. The theme of fraternal ties only makes itself felt occasionally, and for the most part only in the last act of the narrative. When, like all other screen time, the authors of the picture seem not to try. However, the main drawback of the picture can be safely called simply terrible dialogues, which in most scenes are devoid of any meaning, sound “not to the village, not to the place” and look too foreign against the background of events taking place on the screen. Including a frankly stupid robbery with no masks and at least some conspiracy to escape after the robbery. Which, together, clearly gives the dampness of the material.
Happily pleased Michael Bay, who was definitely rehabilitated after a rather indistinct and “drug” directing of his previous film “Ghost Six”. In the spirit and tone of the narrative, the Ambulance is kept as close as possible to “Secrets of the soldiers of Benghazi.” Representing a symbiosis of an adrenaline action movie and some semblance of drama. The dramatic moments are well shot. But they are not particularly deep and penetrating. Except for the final picture, which turned out to be quite strong.
However, it is worth admitting that seeing the name of Michael Bay, first of all, you tune in to the dizzying spectacle and the abundance of explosions, which have long become the “calling card” of the director and in this regard, the Ambulance did not hit the dirt with its face. With the exception of a few moments, the picture is one continuous chase lasting almost two hours of screen time, which, as always, Bay shot beautifully and spectacularly. Separately, I would like to note the virtuoso camera work of Roberto De Angelis, whose camera constantly “flyes” and dives not only over the city, but also indoors.
It is impossible not to note the excellent cast in the person of Jake Gyllenhaal, Yahya Abdul-Mateen and Asa Gonzalez. Gyllenhaal created a very bright and charismatic image, in which he again demonstrates all his acting skills. Yahya Abdul-Matin looks a little more gray on his background. But it also fits well on the screen. Including Asa Gonzalez, who is not limited to her attractive appearance and plays a very convincing image of a daring and almost fearless ambulance employee. The bad news is that none of the other actors actually remembered me when watching. Unless Garrett Dillahant. But unfortunately, it was very shamelessly leaked shortly before the end of the tape.

Ambulance is the obvious rehabilitation of Michael Bay after a rather passable and indistinct "Ghost Six". The script is not devoid of stupid moments and dialogues, and the personal drama of the main characters did not receive full disclosure on the screen. However, traditionally for his work, Bay shot a very beautifully shot, dynamic, exciting and spectacular film, which is almost one continuous chase lasting almost two hours of screen time.
Michael Bay in his repertoire! In general, those who say that this is the best action movie of the year are right.
Solid action from almost the first minute to the very end. It is the best way to go to the cinema to enjoy the attraction. However, we are watching this at home and the impressions are not at all the same.
Bay managed everything in two hours, as usual. And it's hard to explain the motivation of the heroes. And to criticize the American health care system for scoring on those who lack the means. And the lack of jobs for Afghan veterans. And the way the U.S. military sponsored the Taliban (it was separately ridiculous). And race in Los Angeles, where all the police with all the cars and helicopters can not stop one "soon". And the operation during the chase in the same ambulance, picking through the belly of the wounded while the car drags from side to side, while listening to the surgeon's instructions through video. And a non-alcoholic Heineken commercial. And the angry Mexicans from the Cartel. And beloved by the author of slo-mo or no-end flying camera. Homosecs are not forgotten, apparently, to compete for the Oscars in the technical or musical part. All this is seasoned with drama and good music. I almost forgot about the American flag flying in the wind. Well, this is Michael Bay, the creator of the Transformers we love so much. I really love them. The first three films.
The problem is that I am no longer a teenager. I don't like it when everything is in a pile. I don’t like the lack of realism and common sense. I don’t like it when a movie brings up a serious topic and then pushes it into the background, pushing the attraction forward, and then tries to make me empathize with the characters. I don’t care how beautiful it is, I’ve seen it much better. I care about the meaning, and it’s not in the film, because Bay doesn’t care about it, and I don’t blame him, but I could have shot better.

What is the biggest fear that afflicts Americans? That’s the right thing to do with hospital bills! Will, a black war veteran, is baffled by the problem. His wife needs $231,000 for surgery, and the poor guy doesn't even get to Macduck. And he goes to his half-white brother Danny, a professional robber. He is ready to help, but on the condition that Will participate in another bank robbery. 32 million bucks is at stake, so it's worth it. But as usual, something goes wrong, and now two brothers escape in a captured ambulance, where they are held hostage by a wounded police officer and a paramedic girl. And for the next two hours of screen time, they will ride around L.A., accompanied by a bunch of cops.
Of course, no one expects a plausible story from an action movie. Otherwise, the main characters would have been killed at the beginning of the film. However, the script of this kin goes off scale with its absurdity. The number of absurdities and plot holes is simply amazing. I won’t even list them, but they are annoying! And I will not swear at the indispensable black and white partners and positive gays. Obviously, in Hollywood, this is already a mandatory standard and without them, the film will not be stupidly missed.
But if we're watching a Michael Bay movie, maybe it's spectacular nonsense. Alas, but no! I’m not going to lie, you’ll still see some spectacular shots, but that’s it. But most of the time, the camera shakes as if in the hands of an epileptic, constantly flies around and very soon such a pitch begins to really tire. Especially when you consider that most of the time nothing particularly interesting happens on the screen. But the number of knocked-down counters and garbage cans is skyrocketing. Cars are also broken a lot, but somehow quite banal, and who to surprise?
Perhaps the film would have been more positive if it had been within an hour and a half. But the movie goes one and a half times longer and the further, the more sleepy. Especially when you consider that it's just not clear what important things Bay didn't want to sacrifice in editing. So you look at the sluggish chase and yawn. And looking at the pathos-dumb ending, you tell yourself - and why did I even watch it?
What is especially sad, the actors play quite well, and this is a rare phenomenon in action films. But to compensate for the talentless, stupid scenario can not. Pity. But the point in viewing is - if you really need to fall asleep, and for sleeping pills run to the pharmacy laziness. Then this movie is perfect!

P.S. It makes no sense to list all the joints, the list will stretch over several pages, but I will still pay attention to one. Eight million dollars even hundred dollar bills weigh 80 kilograms! And they certainly could not be stuffed into one backpack and easily dragged! What prevented the writers from reducing the amount to believable? And a couple of lamas are quite serious money for most people. But sloppy rule!
The name of director Michael Bay is very familiar to everyone, as well as his shooting style, so as soon as the release of this film was announced ' Ambulance' and especially after watching the trailer, I personally had no doubts about what film we will see, and of course the presence of Jake Gyllenhaal attracted a lot of attention to watching the film.
First of all, Jake Gyllenhaal’s character Danny and his partner Will (Yahya Abdul-Matin II) are all about the story, as they took hostage an ambulance with the chief medic in addition (played by Asa Gonzalez). And the story goes that former military Will (Yahya Abdul-Matin II) urgently needs money for the treatment of his sick wife and he turned to a close friend criminal Danny (Jake Gyllenhaal) for help and he dragged him into a bank robbery.
I liked the main character played by Asa Gonzalez, who played the role of medic Cam Thompson, brave and beautiful, showed character in opposition to the criminal Danny.
And, by the way, speaking about Jake, despite the negative character, he was the star of this film, his acting talent and charisma can not be spoiled, on the other hand, I even think that he could not act in this film, and star in a more serious or independent movie, but apparently, blockbusters he also sometimes attracts.
A rather modest budget for Michael Bay films (40 million), a typical plot: chases, explosions, shootouts, action and action, less acting, only at the end of the film we showed small emotions. But despite this, the film is worth watching, even if only for Jake Gyllenhaal.
Unusual camera work. Chaotic and rapid change of personnel. Stupid dialogue and script. You can turn it off at any time. And Gyllenhaal is an uninteresting image, why was he even invited to this role? No one evokes empathy - the heroes are plastic. Michael Bay, why?! .
"I need to get him to the hospital." "I wish I didn't have Herpes."
I will say right away, Mr. Bay is one of my favorite directors, and his Rock is probably my favorite film, which I have watched more than 20 times accurately and know almost by heart. So I was waiting for the return of my favorite director of explosions.
The ambulance is a remake of a Danish film. The main character Will Sharp is a veteran of combat operations in Afghanistan, the owner of several medals of the country. At home, he is unemployed, his wife is seriously ill, needs money, and is expecting a child. Desperate to get a normal job or insurance money, he turns to his brother & #39. Danny's at the jackpot. He offered to be a driver during a bank robbery.
The main problem of the plot, oddly enough, is Bay himself and his love for pathetic patriotism, as well as soldiers. Let’s call the conditional 3 act too banal, and so patriotic pretentious, because soldiers can not be bad, just so the circumstances have developed. But in general, the main characters due to a rather large timekeeping are well revealed, and the secondary ones have their own chips, by which they are distinguished in the course of the tape.
But if the plot is always Bay's pain. The action here is at a good level. Given that there was a very small budget, and almost half of the film takes place in the ambulance, expect a bunch of battered cars. There's gunfire here, but it's not as cool as those guys, or Benghazi. In general, there is even the installation of its signature is not so much, no it is, but due to just some wildly plague flights, the camera, the chase and destruction look very cool throughout the picture.
I also enjoyed the humor, and Bay is not shy about remembering his old movies. Some secondary characters, even some banter of modern realities. Do they joke about a gay man that this is typical white shit?
Overall, if it weren't for the tape's overly slick 3 act and rather long initial introduction of the characters, there would be a sturdy 7. But due to the fact that Bay still loves the Army too much, and could not show his representative bad, the ending does not fit very well with the general mood of the picture. It is possible to look at the beer 1 time.
' Ambulance' as if rethinking the familiar and outdated hyper-masculine cinema. Michael Bay indulged in nostalgia for testosterone action with sound to its fullest.
New action movie ' Ambulance ' refers to simple stories that are not going to ask too many questions. What is there - here the rupture of the spleen is treated with a hair clip.
One thing remains unchanged in Bay’s cinema: the exciting manner of shooting. Quick editing, aggressive music and impressive angles. As one film critic put it, it’s – 'La La Land' with explosions instead of songs and dances.
I found myself liking the moment of listening to music with headphones on during a chase to relieve a lot of tension. In this, I made a nod to the action movie Faceless when John Wu came up with the idea of putting the boy on headphones during a shootout to make the scene less aggressive due to musical sounds. There it worked, in the new film, this technique did not work. Which was confirmed by the hero himself (Danny Sharp).
In ' Ambulance' there is a note of journalism in the manner of demonstrating the city where the action takes place. Like a gonzo, a unique look at Los Angeles through unrealistically radical angles, drone footage, extra-low and high angles of shooting, just strange camera rotations around characters and objects. As far as I understand, this is aimed at aggressively whipping up drama, and in the end, this very thing has the opposite effect: there is not tension from what is happening, which entails empathy, but only dizziness.
Compared to 'Armageddon' and 'Transformers', the action movie 'Ambulance' cost surprisingly cheap production ($40 million). The film lacks scale.
Until the end, none of the actors have been worked out. How to treat your brothers when they are on a slippery slope. I'm not sure if you want to bite into a blood donation scene like a symbolic reference to sacrifice. It's like a protocol here: done!
There remain questions about the film, the main of which is why, especially if the deadline, limited budget and quarantine measures were tightened. Perhaps it was worth putting this material on the shelf so as not to mar the filmography of Jake Gyllenhall. He plays very well, as always, his skill can not be concealed by spraying from a fire extinguisher, or ridiculous tantrums over a spoiled sweater. But the film itself is quite weak, although director Michael Bay under the pressure of restrictions allowed the actors to improvise with lines, gave freedom on the set. It turns out that this was the case when the improvisation of good actors did not work.
The movie starts off great. Here we are introduced to the first character, showing his apartment, lined with military photographs and orders, show his family, which he loves very much, his problems. Then we are introduced to the ambulance doctor, showing her in business, at work. It’s all done well and getting to know the characters is, to me, the best part of the movie.
Then comes the robbery. And despite the fact that the plan of this very robbery looks as ridiculous as possible from the very beginning, as well as the fact that some bunch of freaks are going to rob, in which criminals are drug addicts guessed a kilometer only by appearance. Despite all this, the robbery is removed cheerfully and keeps the heat.
The main problems begin in the second part of the film, during the chase. The film lasts 2.5 hours and 2 hours of them are simply driving. The police are constantly around them, but in fact do not really take any action to stop the criminals.
There is absolutely no tension, no tension, in this very scene of the chase. Such intensity is, for example, in the films Speed or Unmanageable, where the characters are also forced to press on the gas throughout the film, but their lives depend on this, and every minute new difficulties appear on their way. Here the heroes just back and forth driving around the city and find out relations with each other in chamber conditions.
Because of all of this, it seems like the last half-hour of the movie lasts forever. I hope the movie ends soon enough. And it ends somehow. Literally.
In general, the film can be seen once, not the worst action movie for once. But you can not look and not lose anything.

I was waiting for the great comeback Bey, but alas.
#quiteOkino!
Ambulance, 2022: What can I say in the introduction? Jake Gyllenhaal, in my opinion, is one of the best actors of our time. Not all films with him are great or even good, but without any doubt he puts into them to the fullest. Whenever possible, I try not to miss a picture. Well, ' Ambulance ' no exception.
To begin with, this is a Michael Bay movie! So there will be a lot of chases, shootings, explosions under the sauce of drama and aggravation of the situation. And that's exactly what this tape is about. But this film tried to reveal the main characters as much as possible. Jake did a great job. To be honest, I think the whole movie is just about him. Yes, all the actors tried, but for some reason he drew all the attention to himself. And the most amazing thing is that he, as a character from all three main ones, was revealed the worst of all. Only fragments towards the end more or less understand his motivation, and even then not to the end.
The plot of the film is simple, but executed in technical terms and visually very great. With a budget of $40 million, it’s amazing how such a movie could be made in 2021. There are a couple of scenes in the film where the graphics are really striking, but where the special effects are practical - all at the highest level. The story itself is not bad, but! There was not enough disclosure of some characters, there was not enough realism in some moments and, of course, I would like the ending of another. A little to finish the script and would be a crazy movie, maybe some kind of return of the old Bay ... but alas!
In general, I will say this: I looked from beginning to end. The film was delayed despite its flaws.
PS: I highly recommend it.
PSS: Unfortunately, this film did not pass ' agenda' about a gay couple. Absolutely unnecessary scene, which is only needed to check the box in Hollywood!
In literature and cinema, there are characters who repeatedly write and shoot the same film or book. And year after year, they manage to sell us the resulting product. And we, the audience, continue to love them and ask for more. Ladies and gentlemen, this is exactly the case, so...
' Ambulance ' this is a typical Michael Bay movie. How good is he? In principle, you could already read about it above. Michael is the kind of director who manages to shoot America in a way that makes you want to love it again. Yes, now it is more perceived as a kind of cranberry, a parody of the real USA, but what does it change?
Few directors are given an emotional sense of the frame. Michael Bay, no matter what operator he works with, manages to convey emotions (and evoke them, by the way), through movement, plastic, posture and camera angle. I feel sorry for those operators who work with Bay (good, of course). In order to fully realize the vision of the director, it is necessary to grow a motor behind his back, I do not see other opportunities to twist with the equipment in my hands. However, it is possible that the operator on the set is working ninja from Chinese militants.
Oddly enough, the director is much better at chamber action films, not AAA projects. With blockbusters, it's not so straightforward. But in the low segment Bayu has where to turn, and he feels very comfortable here. Cars explode, men sternly joke and make terrible grimaces, bandits sparkle with guns and are ready to stage a third world war on their block. In short, a solid GTA3/4/5.
' Ambulance ' this is a movie for boys. Here we are shown black and white without these fashionable shades and halftones. Good brother and bad brother. Fate split them in different directions, but only so that they were together again in the ambulance.
One, in the course of the story, begins to empathize with, the other wants death. However, the relationship between them is shown very convincingly.
What can not be taken away from the picture is a dynamic, sometimes heavy narrative. Two hours fly like a camera operator over the car of the main characters, and the viewer manages to be involved in what is happening on the screen.
Cinema gradually pulls you into hot ELE, dirty streets, long overpasses. And now you find yourself in the middle of a crowd of cops sparkling with polished badges.
Can the ambulance to withstand such a load, which we showed in the film, the question, of course, is open, but let’s be clear: starting to view the picture, directed by the author ' Transformers' will it be appropriate to worry about the reliability of everything that happens on the screen?
Every Chekhov rifle in ' ambulance ' in its place. Shootings are also strictly calculated. Fire to kill, no misses. The film even found a place for the development of a female character, which in Bay's films is a rarity. From a cynical girl para-medic heroine turns into a person capable of experiencing emotions, feelings. She begins to act and looks at the world around her from a different angle. Stockholm syndrome? It's not that simple! From the cocoon of a cynic, a person empathizing was born, and it does not matter that for this he needed to go through the plot of the film ' ambulance'.
The musical accompaniment is excellent, to the end, the drum roll gets to goosebumps, just as the composer got into the beat of the feelings transmitted through the picture. Emotions are skyrocketing. And when over the skyscrapers once again appears branded ' Director Michael Bay' I want to smoke and say something mate, what it was emotional. Although, like, I do not smoke for 14 years, and mate, for the most part I do not swear.
Yes, we have seen all this separately and more than once. Yeah, Michael Bay. But, gentlemen, believe me, this is more of a plus. Should I watch the movie? Fans of Bay’s work, of course, yes, this is a visual feast, which, unfortunately, can be seen quite rarely. In this style, there is little filming now, so is it worth missing such a rare opportunity?
Ambulance is Michael Bay's new blockbuster starring Jake Gyllenhaal. According to the plot of the film, Will Sharp, due to circumstances, goes to rob a bank with his brother-criminal Danny. The robbery is not going according to plan, as a result of which the brothers steal an ambulance with two hostages - a wounded policeman and a doctor, a dizzying chase begins in which the heroes have a lot to survive.
What can I say about this film? That it's a typical Michael Bay blockbuster. What does that mean? The fact that you are waiting for dizzying action, chases, shootouts, explosions, camera work from which breathtaking and here all this can be said to apogee in the square.
“Ambulance” turned out to be a dynamic, standing still film, in which all events rush at speed and this is perhaps one of the advantages of this movie, and of course the entertainment, which is unimaginable angles during the chase, such a feeling that the camera does not stop for a second, what to say here on the part of the action Michael Bay – can.
By the way, just yesterday revisited “Armageddon” almost 25 years ago, Michael Bay could spectacularly, I would even say epic to present an unusual event that in his current work it is visible, and he does not give up. But as for the plot, of course, there are many questions and you can say absurd actions of some characters, but this is the sin of many of Bay’s films, so if you close your eyes, you can fully enjoy the action.
The actors. Jake Gyllenhaal, Danny, even though Gyllenhaal and one of my favorite actors, I probably follow his acting work since 2004, this time his character turned out to be “empty”, I did not see the emotional adequacy of the hero, in my places his hero behaved very strangely and out of place, besides, to the full extent as his personality was not revealed to us, so it was difficult for him to empathize.
Yahya Abdul-Matin II, Will Sharp, his character turned out to be more thoughtful, here it is clear what he is fighting for, he is more human than his brother, in the image of the actor was not bad. Asa Gonzalez, Cam, having got into a difficult situation, her character behaves boldly, she does not give up, Gonzalez looked good in her image, although sometimes there was a feeling that in some moments Megan Fox flashes (Asa has a similar type).
In general, “Ambulance” is a dizzying blockbuster from Michael Bay, with a crazy action from which breathtaking in places and it’s great, but the story itself, unfortunately, limps, and if the first half of the film really keeps in suspense closer to the final “heat of passions”, so to speak, falls to zero, but again, this minus of the film is covered with a plus in the face of entertainment and action.
Not a movie, but a stupid mixture of stunt shootings, which probably turned a good idea into a completely unrecognized cacophony. Terribly indistinct. Weeding is needed to separate the grain from the chaff.
Failure is forgotten, wobbles,
And again the wheels on the axle creak.
And we have no rest, burn, but live!
Chase, chase, chase, chase in hot blood. . .
There are bullets in the nagan, and you need to have time.
Fight enemies, sphint, fly away. ..
And we have no rest, burn, but live!
Chase, chase, chase, chase in hot blood. . .
A bank robbery in Los Angeles spills over into the streets of the metropolis. Sixteen million kushem in shoulder bags and cops with a pack of greyhounds in the hunt for game, for wolves - atu their guys, atu!
The whole movie is a chase, a chase, a chase, a chase. And in hot blood. And how else, two bank robbers took a police officer hostage who was bleeding and with them an ambulance doctor, immediately a heart muscle massage practitioner. In fact, in this very intensive carriage on four wheels, most of the picture flows. Press the gas! Come on, come on, give me a little more! Down to the floor! Let's go, let's go, let's get out. And on the right and left of police sirens in the war... Freeze! Freeze!
Dynamic crime for fans of racing - this current ' Ambulance '. Cinema, where the linear template of the action movie and the first, and second, and third, and even... compote. Standard ' dining complex' for the undemanding viewer - salad, soup, cutlet and ... drink. Bread? How much? One, two pieces? Put it down, put it down.
A smile evokes the new American reality with the stiffness of the malice of the day - white man + man not white = friendship. Now in this ' trough' rinse and evil and good. The robbers on the main part of the timekeeping venerable director Michael Bay identified Jake Gyllenhaal and African-American - Yahya Abdul-Matin II. They're like those threads with a needle -- they're always on top of each other. Why? Pretty good. There is no other way in Hollywood. And all 'shukher' rose because of the vigilant guardians of order - a police patrol. They were in the wrong place at the wrong time. The crew, of course, also ' International' - corner and shallow friendship is not spilling water. Officers in uniforms. Heroes. How about that? Straight - a series of obligations of some kind - black with white, white with black ... Funny, funny. Here, in any case, frankly ridiculous from this stupidity, swelling, bespokeness.
Believe in luck and it is with the end.
Long live the wind in the face!
And we have no rest, burn, but live!
Chase, chase, chase, chase in hot blood. . .
What more can we say about this 'revelation'? That one got ' in the case' by chance, and the other realized? The fact that the machine shops are shooting at each other incessantly? That helicopters are up in the sky and sowing panic in the criminal camp? That the car drive resembles Formula 1 racing and others? Here and the bard classic with his 'Wolves Hunt' to remember not a sin - say, - I am tearing out of strength, out of all tendons, but today, not like yesterday. Slapped me, slapped me! It's fun to drive to numbers. The fir trees are thundering. . .
At some point, fatigue and yawning begin to overcome with monotony. Alas, no serious highlight the creator could not bring. Everyone goes and goes without end... Everyone is running and running, snapping... Much in this movie from 'Speed'(1994) with Keanu Reeves, much in this movie from 'Battle'(1995) with Robert De Niro...
Militant of medium gravity, in one word
