Two. While the young disciples train in the Shaolin Temple, a stone and silent Buddha looks at them from above. Day after day, more and more students are trained and trained in martial arts, someone reaches extraordinary heights of martial skill, and someone knows himself and his own soul. And among the students there are very talented, but reckless in their actions young men. Such reckless students were Jun Bo and Chin Bo. The first came to the second, under a teacher, the first was not a lover of laws, and the second obeyed all the rules. The difference between the two students did not prevent them from becoming friends. Even when Chin Bo was punished for another prank, Jun Bo was near him, and they were responsible for what they had created. As the years passed, the boys grew up, but their characters did not change, the first was equally arrogant and uncompromising, and the second strictly respected the rules, observed caution and acted not only for his own good, but also for the good of his friend. So why were they both reckless? Because Chin Bo, like a sinister quagmire, was dragging his friend into dangerous adventures. And one "beautiful" day it came to the point that they were banished from the temple, and June Bo followed Chin Bo. Exile and a new life. Life outside the temple. The life they were not prepared for.
The second half of the film makes you think about the values of human ideals and principles, even though in addition to well-made fighting scenes and high-quality editing, some episodes are not without a share of comicality and Jet Lee raises our mood not only with martial arts skills, but also with strong acting. When Jun Bo and Chin Bo are in exile, the film adds dynamics, and the plot develops quite quickly and the events unfold along a logical chain. Heroes have a difficult choice and the fact that their characters are very different, can play an important role in the future course of events, and in the meantime, they are fighting with soldiers who occupied the city under the leadership of a formidable military commander, and girls have to be rescued from trouble. They are alone in this world, alone and penniless. While Jun Bo does not forget the instructions of his teacher, Chin Bo suffers his own metamorphoses of ideals and the heart of the latter begins to strive for power and strength, Chin Bo Forgets what he learned, only martial skills remain, but are they necessary when the heart seeks power and power that can cloud the mind? Time will decide everything.
Director Yuen Voo-ping shows a very interesting story, and although in some places it seems fabulous and naive, it is impossible not to recognize its important role, the message that you need to remain true to your cause, true to yourself, true to your honor, and then the people around you will be filled with a considerable amount of respect for you, which is good. Yes, and Jet Lee plays very qualitatively and believably, like his on-screen partner, for a couple they show all the important details of the film, and when their paths diverge, the viewer can decide for himself, and which side he chooses and which of them is more correct, and which is not very. In films of this kind, it is impossible not to mention the fighting scenes, for 1993 they just fit perfectly into the timekeeping of the picture, but this is the merit not only of Jet Lee, but also of the other masters who coped with the task, even though they were assigned not as important a role as the main characters. Somewhere there is a Shaolin temple, somewhere students are trained, someone will know himself and Tai Chi, and two will meet on the battlefield. The outcome of one fight will decide a lot.
On the battlefield will meet two,
And their path will be decided.
Maybe someone will be covered in blood.
But that's the point of the fight.
