A wonderful series, both touching and exciting. On the one hand, it's a pity that only one season, on the other - it's good that we didn't slide, and on a beautiful note ended.
The series consists of 22 forty-minute episodes, which look “in one breath”. It is made well and served to the viewer as an exquisite dish. Just in moderation. The detective is spiced with mysticism. There is no such thing as naturalism and horror. It looks easy, but not primitive. The plot develops incrementally and each episode
It has its own flavor. Screenplay, directing and camera work - at the height.
The acting ensemble looks very harmonious. Heroes seem like people close to you. I don’t want to leave them alone.
Unconditional luck - Ioan Griffith in the title role.
The series fit into one season. Many people would like to continue... But that would be another story altogether.
I'll sum it up. Made professionally and with love. I highly recommend watching.
This series is a kind of standard second-rate detective. The recipe is simple - take something from the classics, like the image of Holmes, add mysticism to the mix and put on the rails of an ordinary detective household of a big city. From all sides it is verified, but there is nothing to cling to in it. Personally, I only liked the ending, the rest is sympathetic and secondary. Especially moralizing in each series. Passable, disposable, unremarkable, secondary, beautiful.
I came across this series at one time, because I was looking for fascinating procedures for the evening and heard good reviews about this series. The decision to get acquainted helped to take the poster with the title actor. And I've been watching it since the Titanic. I'll just say that I liked the synopsis. And so immediately plunged into the depths of the Internet and found the only season that exists. I think the show deserves a second chance. Next, I will share my impressions of what I saw and some thoughts about the series. Cool drinks are still relevant, take and start our review.
A narrative criterion or narrative. His name is Henry Morgan. And he works as a pathologist for the police. He finds out how they died, finds himself on his desk and helps the police build a chain of evidence and catch the killer. It's all sorts of standard. But there’s one thing: He can’t die. Immortals in the service of the law have not yet acted, and therefore it was important not to overrule and write a cool script that embodies a promising idea. The main branch is devoted to the confrontation of the two Immortals, the side includes interesting investigations and Henry's relationship with the people around him, plus the search for the missing mother of his companion Abe, who keeps an antique shop. I like that in each series there is a speech-epigraph and a speech-morality, where conclusions are drawn from what is happening. There's a message in everything. I think that the plot could have given an unexpected development, but it is difficult to predict at the moment. The story seems complete, just the ending is open.
Visual criteria or technical support of the series. From this point of view, there are no complaints to the picture either, since if the production of such series is put on stream, then the technical support of the shooting process also does not lose quality, regardless of who operates the camera or mounts the footage. The picture always turns out with notes of gloss. Three cameramen, several post-production workers and three composers. Therefore, the musical accompaniment of the tape is different. Lyrical episodes with keyboards, opening lasts no longer than a minute, but the music is atmospheric. Everything works perfectly together.
Acting brings warm feelings. Yoann Graffad is not brutal, in the list of his works there are no outright action films, but he is good in the role of a gentleman, an honest person and an actor is well given dramaturgy. In the image of Henry Morgan, he is at his plate and charm adds points to his game. The voice of Daniil Eldarov fit perfectly into the image created. Alana De La Garza is played by Joe Martinez and has managed to seize a difficult relationship with the world after her husband's death. In the course of the plot, something romantic happens, but all possible options for the development of their relationship have sunk into the darkness of time. Anastasia Lapina gave her her voice. Note the villain in the performance of Bern Gorman, the actor managed to make the opposite of the main character and to the end remain a mystery. The voice was given to him by Cyril Turansky, his timbral coloring laid well in the character. Judd Hirsch plays Abe and is the warmest and most native character of this series. The right thoughts are spoken from his mouth.
As a conclusion. The series is recommended to acquaintance connoisseurs of good stories and procedures, with less discretion can be very liked. The story was a bit romantic, a bit mystical, mostly detective. But there was a sense of understatement. And yet, the series can give pleasure. All health, peace and good series.
If you are a lover of mystery and mystery, this series is for you.
Eternity is a dramatic television series that tells the story of a pathologist who has the ability to regenerate after death. The protagonist Henry Morgan, played by actor Ioan Griffud, works at the Medical Institute of New York and investigates the causes of death of the dead. One day he dies, but after a while he is resurrected and finds that his body has immortality.
Each episode of the series introduces a new client whom Henry Morgan must investigate to establish the cause of his death. This usually leads to unexpected circumstances where Henry observes terrifying things and faces personal challenges. These storylines are designed in the form of mini-stories, including mystical, detective and criminal elements.
One of the main elements of the series is the love story between Henry and Detective Joe Martinez, which promises many unexpected turns. While Henry constantly changes his face, Joe supports him and helps him fight his demons.
The performance of actors, especially Ioan Griffud, is very impressive. His game creates a unique, mysterious and mysterious atmosphere that lasts from the first to the last series.
In general, the series “Eternity” is very stylish and original. Its unique plot and characters lift viewers to their feet, giving them the spectacle of real drama and sometimes epic saga about love and life. The only drawback of the series may be its small budget, which limits the possibilities of directors and actors. However, this does not affect the essence of the work itself. I can recommend Eternity as a great choice for anyone interested in unusual and mysterious TV series.
The series about the events taking place in the life of the immortal noble American aristocrat.
To be honest, the series itself was pleasant. It consists of 22 episodes, very interesting, by the way, but the series themselves are not too related in the plot. The scenario of each series is something like this: the main character learns about a new corpse, understands the case and helps law enforcement officers. In parallel, information about the personality of the main character can appear. After that, the criminal who committed the crime from the beginning of the series is caught, and the series ends.
However, those glimpses of the protagonist’s character disclosure that appear in the series are truly unique! Very often the plot keeps the mind in suspense: so I want to ask 'So what? What happened next? It looks like one breath.
Summing up: the series, like its idea, turned out very good. However, there could be more meaningful plot - then it would be a real candy. I recommend it.
Seeing him in the recommendations, I passed by for a long time - as it later turned out, in vain. The rather “dry” and inaccurate description of the series did not arouse the desire to watch it. But from the beginning of the series, I changed my mind. There are no “big words” that get boring over time. Everything is presented quite easily and simply. There is no crazy love story that makes the main characters do stupid things (which are present in many TV shows and annoying).
The murders that the main characters investigate are not trivial. You don’t immediately understand “what’s next?” But there is nothing special.
I want to mention the well-chosen main characters, it seems that this series makes special. There's no negativity among the police or any racial differences, that's cool. I will not retell the series, but I will say that the way the police officers are treated with each other is surprising. For that, a separate like.
The very idea of a forensic scientist who lives 200 years is very beautifully embodied, and the “wisdom” of the protagonist corresponds to 200 years. In the end, I advise everyone to watch. Especially fans of this genre – you will like it.
9 out of 10
Yoan Griffith is charming. In this movie, watching him is a pleasure. After all, the main character is the personification of dignity, kindness and visionary wisdom, who has not lost interest in life and death. Immortal medical examiner helps people, cleverly solving crimes. But he also has a personal motive. At the same time, he uncovers the mystery of death, trying to understand why he doesn’t die. Take death from a man and he will seek it! The idea of the film is very cool. But... the realization of the idea suffers. To live forever is an interesting situation in order to observe how a person will dispose of this, how he will treat immortality. But it doesn't seem that much would have changed if Dr. Morgan had been just an astute polymath pathologist who had lost his wife and was friends with his father or adult son. There is no obvious patina of time on his personality, except for the old-fashioned treachery and elegance of the aristocrat.
And the implementation of the idea suffers from all sorts of sores of mediocre series: from scripted clichés, from superficial psychologism, unable to really focus on the inner world of the hero, from template characters, from boring and inventive visuals. The film not only does not open the idea, it does not catch anything at all. It saves a lot of artistic resources. I watched a few episodes and quit. Boring! And then I decided to give Eternity another chance. And I had a hard time finding out which episode I had left off on, and I tried to remember what the last episode I saw was about, and I didn't remember anything. The second chance the series did not justify: the idea of the film is definitely worthy of a better embodiment.
The series isn't that bad. He is absolutely mediocre.
It is a pity that at one time the series had disgusting ratings and it was shamelessly closed, although there are explanations for all this. The channel initially buried a rather promising project and did everything for this (the series came out at a time when the coverage of viewers was minimal). But let’s drop our indignation and see what attracted this series to ordinary viewers.
Idea: the idea of the series is quite interesting and the plot tells about a certain Henry Morgan, who is already 200 years old, but he looks only 30 years old. Throughout the series, our hero, working as a pathologist, helps the detective investigate crimes and tries to figure out why the hell he can not die. Periodically we are shown flashbacks from the past of the main character, where we can see how he started a family and for quite a long time was happy and even raised a son. You feel the hero and you understand his feelings. It's hard to know that you can't live a normal life and you're going to see your wife, your baby getting old and you still look young. Very interesting moments with the rebirth of the hero, because every time he finds himself in the water (at one point), completely naked and very funny that for all the years he did not think to hide a spare set of clothes somewhere behind a pebble, because instead he is forced to walk through a crowded city "in what mother gave birth."
What swings characters, each has its own charm and atmosphere. I really like to look at the relationship between Henry and Abe, for whom Morgan has fatherly feelings and still see how the father is worried about his child, although he is already over 70 years old and looks older than GG himself. A very unusual chemistry takes place between the protagonists and the other characters he is associated with. Even by the daily habits of the heads of the hero, you can see how different his vision of the world is, as if he were from another era.
As for me, it was worth extending the series for season 2 and giving answers to all questions, and only then to close, if I was so impatient. It is still unclear how to get rid of this curse, why exactly this happened to the hero, and what reaction the detective will have when she finds out the truth. But despite such inefficiencies, the ending of the season was harmonious and did not break the plot in the half, which is very pleasing.
The actors just have incredible charisma, even the actor playing Abe I really liked, and I really got into his character. Everything is filmed at the level: makeup, scenery, costumes, literally everything makes you feel the time frame. Yes, the series has quite cliches, especially as far as the main antagonist of the series is concerned, but this does not interfere at all. Of all these small things, this beautiful but short-lived project was created. I liked everything.
A review or a warning is not for me to decide, but I could not resist expressing my opinion.
The series, which is unscientific fiction, is supposedly more focused on female viewers than male. From the first series, we are waiting for the inevitable romantic relationship of the protagonist, a lyrical story about former love and noble fatherhood, and a lot of pseudo-intellectual monologues that claim to be considered a virtuoso work of logic and deduction of the detective. The latter and I would like to mention more.
If all the "symptoms" of the female series do not cause questions and doubts, then the positioning of this work as a serious detective or movie with a philosophical message cause not only denial, but even some concern. After all, the tendency to consume “light cinema”, which in a sense is only the background, complementing the silence or lack of emotions, is gaining momentum in the world. And how sad that biased descriptions, ratings, etc., can mislead a sophisticated viewer.
The series is divided into 22 almost unrelated series. In each of them, the hero of Yoan Griffith will face the results of the crime and find the perpetrators. With the help of baseless conclusions, illogical chains and, in fact, the criminals themselves, who admit what they did in seconds, he succeeds. By the way, without investigation, the actions of the protagonist leave more questions than answers. Unless you think about it. .
What to see in Paris? - The best thing to do in Paris is to get lost in it. Wake up, go where your eyes look, and get lost. Walk the streets until you get so tired that you fall in the nearest cafe and order something amazing with a glass of wine. Then come home, and the next day, all new. True, it only works if you're in the company of someone you care about.
Uh, gentlemen and ladies, if you're thinking about watching a new series, I can say with confidence that this series is definitely worth the time, as ironic as it may sound.
Actors make not just look at them, but empathize with them, rejoice for them as someone close in spirit and worry, and sometimes even very much.
This story is about a very unusual man, he is a gentleman with a capital letter. But it has one feature, it's 200 years old. Yes, it is not a typo, he is involuntarily immortal. Henry Morgan, that's his name and he works in the glorious city of New York, in the city morgue. And it's not just work, he's studying death that can't catch him. If he dies, he emerges from the water. And this mystery does not give him peace.
By the way, the series will reveal to us the inner experiences of the protagonist, will show on the screen such an acting game that it will not be possible to say that it is not true.
I want to erase my memory and see it again. Emotions take hold after watching. I want more history, because it is so begging.
Henry Morgan is an immortal doctor who has been trying to understand the nature of his condition for two hundred years.
Why can't he die?
Is he the only one like that?
How can you live a full life, knowing that all your friends and loved ones will grow old and die, and you will always be at the same age?
Henry works as a medical examiner in the police department, where he develops a warm, friendly relationship with Detective Joe Martinez - a charming brunette.
She has her own tragedy - her husband died, except for work, she no longer has any sense to live.
And our hero helps her to feel, and she gives him confidence that you can trust people.
The series is developing interestingly, though obviously in places. For example, it immediately becomes clear who is the antagonist who is as immortal as Henry.
Henry Morgan is like Sherlock Holmes in his intelligence, his curiosity, and the antagonist, whose name I will not mention, is like crazy Mariarty (if we compare the series Sherlock with Benedict Cumberbatch).
I like that the characters are similar, but at the same time, the two screen pairs have a lot of differences, which retains interest in both series almost equally.
There are no special effects in Eternity, the series looks like any ordinary detective with a full disclosure of storylines.
With one "but" - the series is cut off at a very interesting moment, which could be a good start for the next season.
The main secret of the medical examiner Henry Morgan (the main character) - he is immortal. Every time he dies (the cause of death does not matter), he emerges naked in the nearest body of water. He is about two hundred years old, he, of course, keeps his superpowers a secret, avoids people and is not inclined to start relationships. At some point, it turns out that Henry is not the only immortal on earth, and everything that happens takes on a fundamentally new meaning.
All sorts of reflections and cultural utterances on the ethical side of immortality have become increasingly common. What is the value of your physical immortality if you have lost all humanity and are long dead inside? The creators of the series have decided their position - it is obvious and unambiguously expressed in the end. And this is the ending – the fact that the second season of the series is not renewed, does not affect its integrity and obvious plot completion.
At first, it seems that we have another attempt at a creative rethinking of the “Holmes” (traditionally not up to the original), but after three or four episodes it turns out that everything is much more complicated. Detective stories, on which the narrative is strung, serve as a background here.
However, the format will still have to get used to. Each episode is an independent genre and plot-completed detective. One murder, one episode. At the same time, in almost every episode, thanks to several flashbacks, we learn something from the protagonist’s past, something that will allow you to look at him a little differently. In addition, the main plot is gradually developing, in which the director, in fact, raises the main ethical questions. So, this format of the series after the fifth or sixth is frankly tiresome: monotonous murder investigations do not give any new information about either the plot or the characters and in the end are perceived almost as a white noise, which is interspersed in a total of three or five minutes of really interesting action. It is strange that this obvious point at least by the middle of the season was not taken into account by the authors.
Now – from 2021 – it’s a bit funny to look at the heroes of 2014: they turned out to be very “slicked” – they always look great, dress well, take care of themselves, are fit, are in excellent physical shape and generally worthy of all praise. Their obscenity and correctness does not allow them to see real, living people, blocks the possibility of empathy. Even the obvious acting charisma of Henry and Abe (his performance is generally worthy of enthusiastic compliments) does not save the situation.
What does it do? The way human relationships are shown – warmth, care, intimacy and love – is very believable, sincere and with great feeling. Gentle in the most platonic sense, the love line of Henry and Detective Joe Martinez will definitely deliver many pleasant minutes to lovers of all kinds of romance. And the relationship of Henry and Abe, amusingly turned inside out on the axes of "old - young" (despite their apparent age difference) give the series its zest, many funny moments and family coziness and warmth. The series is very family-friendly in a good sense. It’s a big family where family members respect each other. Therefore, it is not surprising that relationships built on such principles, in the end, in the series and win even death.
For me, The Future is more about relationships than about immortality, intelligence, and even more about ethical issues. Moreover, with this approach, you can not analyze numerous logical and plot blunders, but simply enjoy humanity.
High-quality, cheerful and at the same time easy to perceive the series ... will suit everyone! Imho, I didn’t like only the fact that each series is its own story, united only by a thread idea for the whole season, I prefer one story for the whole series, for which I threw ... and so a good series, suitable for viewing and for the background!
There are a lot of similar detective series, but Eternity has one advantage in front of all of them - an unused conflict inside the main character, an original problem.
Despite the large number of stamps, predictable plot twists, the series is really addictive. Relationships between heroes can be monitored forever. Heroes alive and real, Joan Griffith wants to believe. The character of Judd Hirsch dilutes the entire series with humor. There was not a single series I wanted to skip or rewind. This is probably one of my favorite shows.
Henry Morgan is obsessed with trying to solve the mystery of his immortality. Despite the difficult life path of 200 years, Henry Morgan retains humor and vitality, although he admits to Abraham that he is tired of life. It's interesting to follow him. If you compare Eternity to TV shows like Sherlock or Bones, where the main characters put rationality and work above emotions and personal life, Henry Morgan is quite emotional, but quite serious. This contrast between humour and 200 years of experience gives a special contrast.
' Eternity' often flashed in my tape, but every time I passed by, not really noticing it. One summer evening I saw him and decided to take a look. 'God, why haven't I seen this before?' was my cry after watching the pilot. So, in a couple of weeks, I watched the whole series with a thirst and I am ready to talk about all the oddities of Dr. Morgan and not only.
Of course, the first point I will mention is the main character. The incomparable Henry Morgan, played by the equally incomparable Yoan Griffith. Dr. Morgan is, in my opinion, the standard of the main character of the detective series. Stylish, charismatic, beautiful, incredibly intelligent and, besides, not without a sense of humor. From the very first series, the hero so catches you that all the tragic events that occur in the future in the series you experience with him. Especially when there’s a twist.
That's what we're going to talk about. ' Chekhov rifles' as they are called, shoot exactly when it is necessary and exactly where it is necessary. The plot twists are kept in suspense until their denouement. They make the viewer experience along with the main character (Ioan Griffith is so charming as Henry Morgan), but most importantly, they serve as a very solid ground for the development of further conflict between the antagonist and the protagonist. By the way, in order for the plot twists to work as they should, do not watch the cast of about the series to 12, do not repeat my mistakes.
Another big plus of the series are the other actors. Especially, of course, good Alana de la Garza (Joe Martinez). However, it is also worth noting Donnie Keshawartz (Mike Hanson) and Joel Moore (Lucas), who are some simplified versions of the main characters here.
A separate line, by the way, I would note the acting duets and speech not only about Yoan Griffith and Alan de la Garza. Judd Hirsch, whose character is the moral landmark of the protagonist, returning him from his memories, from heaven to earth, and in general being Henry's spiritual mentor. And, of course, Bern Gorman, but, however, this is a slightly different topic.
Summing up, it can be noted that the series has its own small heap of script holes and blunders, but all this small heap pretty much compensate for the magnificent directorial and acting work. You empathize with the characters, fall in love with them, feel them. each of the characters by the end of the series becomes almost native to you and it is incredible! Massage also has its own characters and is needed here not just to move the plot forward. Even third-rate characters sometimes get really pathetic. In the end, I will note that the main strangeness of Henry Morgan is that he is damn charming and insanely brilliant. A great replacement for Sherlock Holmes!
10 out of 10
The series 'Eternity', written and produced by Matthew Miller, was released by the channel ABC in September 2014, and the plot, combining fantasy, drama and detective, is still very popular with viewers. The decoration of the series was the charismatic British actor - Ioan Griffith, who starred as Dr. Henry Morgan, a forensic expert of the New York police.
His hero has many advantages: Morgan is intelligent, handsome and charming; he is elegant, has good taste, encyclopedic knowledge and speaks many languages. In addition, Henry is devoted to his profession of a doctor and touchingly gentle with his loved ones, but the secret that he has been hiding from others for more than 200 years, weighs on him, he wants to solve it!
A bit unusual in the plot 'Forever' uses the concept of immortality: the protagonist does not know how he acquired the ability to resurrect, and why he cannot grow old and die. For an unknown reason, Morgan is always 35 years old, but immortality does not seem like a gift to him: he has no friends, can not open himself to anyone and from time to time is forced to start all over again, changing the country, work and place of residence.
Perhaps one of the reasons for his secretiveness was the betrayal that Henry never encountered on his way: he died, and then again and again returned to life, experiencing the pain of loss. The only thing he wasn’t prepared to lose was his wife Abigail, the love of his life, and his adopted son Abe, who was found by an infant at the end of World War II at Auschwitz. Only these two knew everything about him, but they are not immortal, and life is so short!
But fate comes to Henry’s rescue. In his work as a police forensic expert, he encounters not only puzzles in the investigation every day, but also with the charming and astute detective Joe Martinez, who is impressed not only by his mysterious & #39; oddities & #39; but also by his expert talent, sharp flair and deepest knowledge. Henry is always kept separate, which only further fuels her interest. They must have met.
The detective story is built in the series on a vertical principle: each series is a separate story, while the story of the main character is revealed in parallel, in flashbacks and memories. It is they who sooner or later lead us to the first event that served as a reference point for Henry’s immortality, and it is from them that we learn about the history of Henry’s meeting with Abigail. In the plot 'Forever' the present and past of the protagonist, mixing with each other, create their own special flavor - colorful and unique stories, from which it is impossible to break away.
I want to note the brilliant benefit of the lead actor Joan Griffith, his charisma attracts and sets the tone for the entire series. The elegance, aristocracy, intelligence, attractiveness, self-irony and subtlety inherent in the image of Henry Morgan, I think, will leave few indifferent. In addition, I love the role of Griffith in the film adaptation of the novels of Cecil Forest ' Hornblower' and the series ' Dr. Harrow'. A talented actor, would meet him more often on screens!
In general, the casting in the series is excellent, all the actors look great not only in the main roles, but even in supporting roles, so I will note only those who, except for the main character, I especially liked.
Charming detective Joe Martinez (Alana De La Garza). It should be noted her insight and flair, only one she was able to push the barriers erected by Henry around his story and come so close, and there, who knows?
Abigail (McKenzie Mosey), Morgan's wife, appearing in flashbacks, is shown as a gentle, selfless and loving woman. Beautiful, as if woven in the style of art deco, it delights and fascinates.
Gloria Carlyle (Jane Brookshire) - aristocrat, philanthropist and owner of an art gallery, who encouraged Henry to propose to Abigail.
Lucas is an extravagant and loyal assistant to Morgan at work.
Adopted son Abe (Judd Hirsch), owner of an antique shop, the only confidant of Henry in the whole world. Son and father are very touching care of each other and it looks so wonderful!
In conclusion, the series 'Eternity' is distinguished by good directorial and camera work (Brad Anderson, David Moxness, etc.), as well as a pleasant soundtrack from the composer Josh Cramon. For viewers, the series is interesting non-trivial presentation of the story of immortality of the main character, intrigue and unexpected twists in the development of the detective component, a beautiful visual and paintings of New York. Looks 'Forever' easy, with a good mood and, not least, you want to review it.
Although the creators, throwing us details connecting Morgan with Holmes, as diligently as they contrast them. Unlike Homs, Morgan is not a pure analytical mind. Morgan's life is full of feelings: Son, memories, unnecessary knowledge (with which Holmes did not clutter his attic). Morgan's whole life is permeated with love for one woman (paradoxically, but just like Holmes, one beloved woman for life). And he carries this love carefully guarding and even 30 years later not forgetting about it. Just like Holmes has his own Moriarty. But Morgan's not a killer, Morgan's a doctor, so Reichenbach Falls doesn't happen. There is a New Utrekt Avenue where both survive. Yes, and himself ' Moriarty' not pure evil, but only tired of time stopped bored in eternal loneliness Adam. The differences are much deeper. Morgan is experiencing the people he met along the way. The first wife, King Urkesh, his own wife and son. It's like the Green Mile, but unlike Paul Edgecomb, Morgan doesn't age. He remains as young and full of strength, not understanding how sometimes burdens those who know his secret such a neighborhood. Diligently ignores Abraham’s envy and hamstrings about his immortality and the futility of everything else. And there's no tragedy in that. It's life. The one he's given. This is how he lives, from time to time running away from himself and those who may know him.
Separately, I want to talk about scripts. It would seem: an ordinary detective, well, with a small fantastic detail that gives a spicy taste, but no. The series is unpredictable. The gardener never becomes a murderer, and only at the end do we discover the real culprit.
Forensic examiner Henry Morgan, along with his friend police detective Joe Martinez, investigates the intricate murders. Henry possesses encyclopedic knowledge and deduction. At the same time, others do not suspect that he is immortal and was born in 1779.
This series is a classic procedure with an unusual protagonist. The immortal detective is interesting. The very nature of immortality is not explained. And why, when Henry dies a violent death, he is reborn naked in a nearby body of water.
In each series there is an investigation of a case. Plus flashbacks from Henry's past. There are several throughlines, the most curious of which is associated with another immortal Adam, who is 2000 years old and turned into a murderer.
The main roles were played by Yoan Griffith and Alan de la Garza. They have good chemistry and they look good together. Also a significant role is played by the adopted son of Henry, an elderly owner of an antique shop Abraham performed by Jad Hirsch.
The series began very well, but later began to fade. By the end of the season, the writers began to run out of ideas, things became less interesting, there were many roles in the bushes, the same line with the immortal Adam did not receive a normal continuation. All this led to a drop in ratings and the series did not advance beyond the first season. And the idea was interesting, but still the implementation somewhat failed.
Great show. It's a shame that it lasted one season.
The talented Anglo-Welsh actor Joan Griffith embodied the image of the medic Henry Morgan, who happened to a strange thing: once he was killed and since then he does not age and is resurrected after each death. Living with such a gift, it turns out, is not sugar at all: you need to hide your peculiarity, so as not to be imprisoned in a psychiatric hospital or, even worse, not passed on experiments; often move from place to place so that neighbors do not pay attention to eternal youth. And there is no question of creating a family, finding friends, because, as you know, who lives forever, loses forever. Therefore, the main character is not at all happy with his peculiarity and, considering it a curse, devoted his life to the secrets of death, in the hope of finding a way to cease his existence.
Viewers meet Dr. Morgan in New York. He is withdrawn, conservative, eccentric, prefers classical music, three-piece suits and a landline phone to social networks. After changing over two centuries many medical professions, he now works in the police morgue, where he meets detective Joe Martinez, thanks to which he gets a classic duet, in which, however, Dr. Watson is smarter than Sherlock Holmes, because over a long life the doctor has acquired extensive knowledge, observation and experience that allow him to unravel criminal mysteries. It is this meeting that makes the doctor get out of his shell and plunge into the real living world, reconsider his attitude to many things and for the first time in a long time not to flee from danger, but to accept the challenge.
In the story of the immortal pathologist, there is wit, subtle irony, and, oddly enough, kindness. Compared to other series, where characters ' with oddities', for example, with 'Lucifer', the hero of Ian Griffith has no attractive vices: not cruel, not cynical and not cunning. He seems to be straight from the XIX century: he has a sense of duty, sentimental, honest, well-bred, naive. He is a good man in the old, classical sense of the word.
And the series itself, in my opinion, carries a charge of positivity, teaches that life depends on our attitude to it: it is not circumstances that form a person, but our ability to fight, love, make friends, forgive and move on. Despite the difficulties, one should not hate life and people, one should remain a decent person and seize on the good, not the bad. Not only those who have lived more than a hundred years can become tired and distrustful, this often happens to us, ordinary people, and here it is much more correct to take the example of not evil misanthropes with sociopathic tendencies, like Dexter or Lucifer, but the positive Dr. Henry Morgan. And this morality, unfortunately, is rare these days.
And from a psychological point of view, the characters are quite true and build real relationships, it is interesting to watch them all, everyone is a person. It’s also a big plus for the series.
Of course, there are plenty of typical for cinema and America movie stamps and blunders. It turns out, for example, that in case of poisoning with polonium-210, it is enough to wash a person’s stomach, as he will immediately recover. Standing in the way of a raging machine, Dr. Morgan should know that it ends in disability and coma no less often than death and resurrection. The same is true for a bullet and a fall from a height, than our hero also entertains.
And of course, the Russian ballerina Odessa Kozlova delivers )
Eternal life is always a topical topic, eternal, and for many (my case) a dream object. Therefore, the mysterious story of Dr. Henry Morgan could not help but interest. Two hundred years!! Is it a joke?
Looking forward. Turn it on. And from the first minute, delight! A dynamically developing intriguing plot, in the center of which is a charming doctor. What a pleasant acquaintance! And before he had time to smile meaningfully at our first meeting, the charming Henry already emerges from the river...mm... completely naked. Oh! “Yes, a hell of a nice acquaintance!” – I thought and immediately disconnected from our mortal reality.
From this fairy tale it was impossible to break away! The mystical plot with a fair amount of humor carries away in travel in time and space, while sometimes tickling nerves, preserving intrigue. Plus, aesthetic pleasure scenery corresponding to a particular era, elegant, to the smallest detail, thought-out costumes - the calling card of Henry Morgan, in which he conquers, falls in love with himself. It is a real pleasure to visit the doctor, in an antique shop, and among the objects of art to drink a glass of wine, listening to old records, watching how the flames burn in the fireplace. Perhaps perfectionists and admirers of the beautiful will experience euphoria.
And again transported to the crazy present, bubbling with cacophony sounds of the metropolis, unpleasant laboratory of the forensic expert of New York. Each new case is another challenge to the doctor as a professional, as well as another hope to understand Death, the mechanism of the universe and solve a personal mystery. Look at this (I won’t tell you better than the writers of the series).
And then the impossible happens: the end! The show is over! Can "Eternity" really end? How? That's not fair! Of course, the description says: Season 1. But shouldn't it be eternal? It seems that the mechanisms of the universe “break” only for the characters of the movie. It's a shame.
For those of you who haven’t been to Eternity, I recommend it!
