At least kill, but I do not remember the announcements of this series. If the same ' Arrow' announced, posted photos from the shooting, for six months - for a year, the pilot ' Flash' everyone saw four months before the premiere of the series, then without an announcement - immediately the entire first season. Unexpected - but very pleasant, as the series just rips its head off.
The series has a lot of advantages, and I am sure in other reviews they will be noted. I would like to focus on only two of them. This is, first of all, the harmony and integrity of the plot. Thank you to the writers for that. You can see that the series was shot all season and the creators immediately knew how and how it will end. At a time when no one knows what ratings the first half of the season will have and whether it will be renewed for the second half and then for the second season. What characters and villains of the DC and Marvel universe are allowed to use? .. Now, at this very time, writers and producers are doing a lot of improvisation and experimentation. Why the plot becomes too ragged and sometimes looks sucked out of the finger. All the more valuable is the integrity and completeness of this story. The authors were not afraid to kill even the key characters, because they had already played their part and had to get off the stage - they are no longer needed. .. How wild it sounds in the comic book universe, where every hero and villain has been resurrected dozens of times, and who knows how many times and how he will rise again.
Second, great actors, very rarely that happens, but I can’t mention any poorly selected actors. But even their background stands out one lump - this is of course the performer of the role of Fisk, loved by me even in ' All-metal shell' and ' Identification' - Vincent D'Onofrio. His Kingpin is just no words, the character disclosure is so deep and worked out (again bold plus the writers) that it can already be included in textbooks. It overshadows the main character at times.
Of the drawbacks, I note only one, the actor who plays the main character does not play the blind in any place. I understand perfectly well that he has hyper-sensitized hearing, smell and everything. But he has no vision, and at least a little bit of it could be accentuated. No amount of rumour will help you know that a piece of sharpened reinforcement sticks out of that wall. It's like Superman, wearing glasses, and we have to believe that no one will recognize him, no matter how crazy it may seem. In my opinion, this greatly damages the atmosphere of the series, which in all other respects is beyond praise. Only for this - minus one point.
Matt Murdoch is a blind lawyer living his own seemingly unremarkable, gray life. However, Matt Murdoch is also a man who administers his own justice at night, but of course outside the courtroom.
That is, from the very beginning, we clearly see the two sides of the coin of the same character, and how these sides are supposed to represent the light and darkness that lives in each of us. This line is rather arbitrary, and it is sometimes difficult to determine who is acting with truly good or clearly bad intentions.
One thing is certain: Matt Murdoch is a man without fear, and the point here is not that he has no fear, but that he is just a human being, just a human being as emotional, sympathetic, and vulnerable as anyone else. And when the main character is not God or a mutant with regeneration, then in each fight with opponents, the stakes are raised many times, and this really makes the viewer worry about the hero.
It should be noted that the series has an excellent cast. Everyone looks in his place, and without exaggeration, everyone plays his character with his soul. There is no obsession, overplay, or any other negative moments in the acting. Even qualitatively selected actors in the background, who appear and leave the plot for 1-2 episodes.
The picture is also on top, because absolutely everything, from the office ' Nelson and Murdoch' and ending with the distant plans of the city, is imbued with a certain style and charm, and this approach of the director and operator to the performance of their work does not leave indifferent.
But the most important thing to emphasize for this series is a smooth and well-built storyline. The script is written down to the slightest detail, and with each series these details flirt with new and new colors, revealing and complementing each other. However, the plot does not quickly and unambiguously reveal different events and characters, leaving a couple of questions for independent reflection of the viewer.
We can safely state that this time the transfer of the character from the pages of comics to the screens occurred more than successfully.
All of the above makes the series about such a colorful and at the same time gloomy character as Daredevil, a must-see for everyone!
10 out of 10
While big screens are increasingly storming superhero movies, television has only had a handful of superhuman projects worth watching. However, today the situation is radically changing, and now the popular (and not so) comic book characters are in full operation on small screens.
On the part of competitors from the company DC comics, the series 'Arrow', as well as its ' shot' spin-off 'The Flash', which today is one of the best representatives of the genre, has enjoyed considerable popularity.
The company Marvel, actively developing its cinematic universe, alas, could not be so successfully deployed on television with his ' Agents of S.H.I.T. a' and ' Agent Carter' but the latter project definitely deserves your attention if you are an ardent fan of stories about superheroes.
We are talking, of course, about a recent release from Marvel for Netflix called 'Daredevil'. For true fans and connoisseurs of the genre, it is not necessary to explain who Daredevil is, he is Daredevil in translation, and a simple viewer probably remembers the eponymous and not too successful film adaptation with Ben Affleck in the title role, released in 2003. Yes, yes - this is the story of a blind lawyer who at night dresses up in a red suit with a horned mask and as the "Devil-guardian" & #39; delivers true justice to the scoundrels who managed to escape from responsibility in a corrupt judicial system.
Someone liked the 2003 film, and someone still spits out streams of bile on this picture, but in the case of the television adaptation of the comic book about Daredevil, we can safely say that this project causes exceptionally positive impressions. After the bright blockbusters from Marvel, in which there is a large share of comedy elements, it is quite unusual to watch such a dark and serious series, which, nevertheless, is part of the cinematic universe.
The main character - lawyer Matt Murdoch, as a result of an accident that occurred in childhood, lost his sight. Despite this, the chemicals that hit the young Matthew in the eye, incredibly enhanced all his other senses, thanks to which our hero, although he lost his sight, began to see and feel much more than any sighted person. During the day, Matt Murdoch is a simple lawyer from the area with the magnificent name Hell’s Kitchen, and at night he becomes a masked vigilante who tries to make his city better. . .
The series stands out from all of Marvel’s on-screen incarnations and shows the darker side of life in New York City when it’s not subject to alien invasions. Greatly staged battle scenes, an interesting plot, a great script and good actors - all this is 'Daredevil'!
A fighter for justice, literally and figuratively.
Daredevil, to speak frankly to you, but I can’t do otherwise, turned out lousy. We all remember him. The same film in which the main character constantly grins and jumps around the playground, waving a cane. Where a bald white guy manages to hit a fly with a syringe, etc. In general, this is a clear example of how a film can be bad and awkward, if an inexperienced director is behind the wheel, and the script resembles tabloid fiction in the spirit of “Secrets of the Stars”.
Personally, I did not want to plunge into these memories again, but the studio bosses, having felt the ground, realized that remembering that film had already been forgotten, the bad impression subsided, and therefore, now is the time to shoot the series. It is time to revive the hero from the fire and bring him out of the deep pit into which he drove the previous Director.
My acquaintance began with a video for the series. Well, what did you expect, after a stupid movie, I had to take the choice of evening viewing seriously. I liked the video. Its atmosphericity immediately began to delay, and the main character from the first frames did not scare away. It's good, I thought, and I started reading about him. Many would think, well, why spend so much time, watch the pilot, spend forty minutes of your time and deal with the end. But no, it's a matter of principle. But everything fell into place as soon as I saw an animated poster with the main character looking at us from the picture.
Then I realized, probably with a sixth sense, that the director of this series will do everything possible, or at least try to do, not to ruin the story from the very first series.
That's how it happened. After a failed film that collected a “decent” box office and a bunch of negative reviews, this series breathed new life into the already canned hero.
The first thing I like about the show is the atmosphere. Dark, gray colors. Shooting in dark colors, and most importantly, a normal and adequate protagonist, whose character stopped smiling (at least stopped doing it in a boyly way carefree), and most importantly looks like a normal person. After that, I sighed with relief and began to greedily absorb what I saw.
Second, I liked that the main character looks grounded, more human. This immediately attracted to yourself, immediately set the rhythm at which you begin to sympathize with a person, but at the same time you experience some dual sensations. On the one hand, he is sorry, and on the other, you want to punch him in the face for what he does.
The third thing I liked was the short story. The writer tried very hard to make the story develop spontaneously, without leaps. Here, the director did his best, I think, to make the narrative flow smoothly on the screen, so that we did not have the feeling of a crooked story.
It's already been three episodes. The plot develops well, does not escalate the situation, but at the same time does everything possible to attract the viewer to the next series. The atmosphere of this series plays into his hands and if the director continues the story in the same vein, then we are waiting for a very spectacular first season, which has all the makings to grow into the second.
A hero, an avenger, a maniac, greedy for pain and violence?
Interesting find of the TV season or another passing superhero action?! /i>
Let's figure it out.
After watching 5 episodes of this series, I can safely state the following:
The series was not made hastily, as it feels with 'Gotham' or 'Flash', the series is holistic and responds to all the dramatic concepts of big cinema.
Slowly getting acquainted with the hero, his environment, skillfully describes the world, mired in crime.
Something similar could have been observed in the first season 'Arrow' if the show had not sagged like this. And unlike the DC TV series, the new brainchild of Marvel boasts an excellent production.
The colors - red, black, dirty green, cold neon - perfectly convey the spirit of the comic book.
The plot is written in advance, thanks to Netflix, the specifics of the channel allows the creators to gradually escalate the situation, making each next episode more interesting than the previous one, and most importantly more rich. In Daredevil everything is logical and justified. Crime is all-powerful, even the Avengers’ intervention in the human world has not changed the universal laws of life. It is worth mentioning the Avengers separately. The hints of Iron Man or Thor are very witty and do not look stretched like in ' Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'
The characters in the series are very reliable. Blind lawyer by day and fearless avenger by night Mad Murdoch played by Charlie Cox - quite well competes with his cinematic predecessor in the face of the current Dark Knight - Ben Affleck. In many ways, his character is more interesting and sympathetic.
Murdoch's friends are also spelled out deeply. The plot lines are neither comical nor annoying.
The enemies of Daredevil are represented especially picturesquely - from stupid sixes to insidious mafiosi, which is controlled (manipulated by Someone).
A word about the main antagonist. He's wonderful. It seems that he can become one of the most colorful villains on TV.
To sum it up, Daredevil is a great series, I at least like the beginning.
As long as the Avenger wears a black mask, but soon puts on a devilishly red suit and confrontation, the drama will only intensify.
8.5 out of 10
So, Daredevil is an exciting series about a super hero, which stands out against the background of many superhero films!
Good luck to the show as well as the show as a whole. Looking forward to another series!
The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to evolve, and after many movies, we were presented with a new, completely different series from Agents of the Shield. The partnership of Marvel and the online video service Netflix, allowed to be born 5 series, the first of which was Daredevil. And the series takes full advantage of Netflix: big budget, adult rating, professional actors.
All 13 episodes came out on April 10th and as a Marvel fan, I couldn’t miss them. I have watched all the series and now I have made the full picture, and I am also ready to share it with you.
This is the story of Matt Murdoch, who lost his sight as a child when chemicals got into his eyes in an accident. He lost his sight forever, but the rest of the senses are sharpened, and now, after years of training, he can make a rough picture of the world and even more, he can hear what is happening tens of meters away, as well as hear the heartbeat of a person. But over the years, he not only trained his feelings, but also his strength. You can learn more about this from the flashbacks that the viewer can see during the series. And we will see flashbacks not only the main character.
Now Matt is the defender of Hell’s Kitchen, the New York area where he was born and raised. The atmosphere of the series at altitude-district is shown dark. This is one of the differences from other Marvel series. Speaking of differences. The series has an adult rating, and as a result, a large amount of blood, broken bones and broken heads. Moreover, a large amount of blood belongs to the main character, whose body adorns many wounds and scars. He is an ordinary man who decided to save his neighborhood and make it better. It has no superpowers, divine origins, or flying armored suit. He's not like the Avengers, he's an ordinary man. This is one of the main themes of the series. Of course, there will be “Easter Eggs”, and hints of the Avengers, and a swing for the second season, and something else from the cinematic universe, but due to spoilers, I can’t write this.
Now he, along with his best friend and his new friend, opened a law firm, and together are involved in the affairs of the main villain. There are other heroes here. A girl helping the protagonist when he is badly injured. A reporter from the newspaper, who is also involved in the case of the main villain. And also other bandits, among which there are Russians. It is made without cranberries and speaks Russian without mistakes, albeit with a strong accent.
I devoted most of the review to the main character, played by the charismatic Charlie Cox. The actor does a great job with his role, as do other actors. But most of all, I would like to highlight the main villain, played by Vincent D’Onofrio. And the villain in his performance is great. Cold-blooded and calculating, standing in the shadows and having his skeletons in the closet, Ambal is one of Marvel's best villains. If not the best.
The fighting scenes in the series are perfectly executed, here you can immediately see the efforts of the film crew. They were executed with severity, a lot of violence. He gets a lot because of the costume he made himself. Although, it's just a set of components: black jersey, pants, gloves skater protection. There will be hints of the original, red costume from the comics. Of course, he will get it and the costume will look gorgeous.
Musical accompaniment, camera work, and other things about which I did not write much are also worthy of praise. The series was shot by several different directors and the series turned out a little ' different'.
But for now, it's not a superhero series. While this is a crime drama, showing us the criminal world of Hell's Kitchen. But in the last 15 minutes of the final series, you can feel the real spirit of superheroics. Whether the series will move in this direction further, and whether it will show us the real Daredevil, which the main character became at the end, we will see in the second season.
In the meantime, 9 out of 10. I recommend it to everyone.
That's the super character. Against the background of all these ' Agents Shield', 'Arrow' and other superhero series, Daredevil is a breath of fresh air. The cast selected here speaks more about the start of the film than the series. And maybe that’s what made such an incredibly interesting project. Atmosphere, characters, dialogues – everything you want to see, feel and understand. If in other previously mentioned series characters begin to talk about feelings, there is only a reflex & #39. But Daredevil is another, higher class. Everything here is not played, everything is true and honed.
A word about the atmosphere.
The opening credits are simply chic, everything seems soaked in blood and justice. That's what I'd say. The music that quietly plays the background immerses in the atmosphere of a detective thriller. Fights that are very qualitatively delivered add to the militant. And the plot, which gradually grows towards the end of each series, makes up the whole picture. (But other series have the standard of doing the series as a mini-story.) It's curious, but it's quick and annoying.
The verdict is to watch and wait for the continuation! And of course, to fill the rating of the series, so that it is extended for a long, long time. I made my small contribution - wrote a review on Kinopoisk.
I confess that I was skeptical about the release of this series, but still there was a hope in me that the translation of the story about the lawyer of the avenger on TV will correct, albeit a long-standing, but relatively obvious failure of the film with Affleck (despite its commercial success, which in fact should not bother the viewer). Now, after watching five episodes, I can say with confidence that my hopes were not in vain.
First, the cast is well-chosen, from the lead role of Matt Murdoch (Charlie Cox) to Leland (Bob Gunton): all the actors try very well. But especially I want to mention Foggy (Elden Henson), who perfectly manages the role of a positive friend of Matt and the role of Kingpin or Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), as you like, but about him a little later.
Secondly, the atmosphere of the series is simply chic, gloomy, reminiscent of Gotham from the Nolan trilogy. Cruelty and realism are at the forefront of crime. I think it gives the series a greater seriousness and realism, which is no longer Marvel, but DC. And it seems to me that this will only benefit the series, because many have already managed to catch the pop Arrow and the logical Flash (May their fans forgive me).
And thirdly, I would like to talk about Wilson Fisk. As already mentioned, literally from the first episode, the viewer plunges into the gloomy atmosphere of Hell’s Kitchen with its colorful villains, although I confess that seeing the scene where they all came together, I thought that with colorfulness a little too much, but the appearance on the screen of Wilson Fisk more than washed away my claims to the competence of the villains. Vincent’s excellent play, coupled with the realism and charisma of the character, directly begs to put him on a par with Bane, Joker and Loki, but it is too early to say. Moreover, I am very impressed by the idea with a sufficiently large attention to the life of Fisk, and it seems to me just a wonderful idea, because the opportunity to know about the experiences, desires and thoughts of the villain and at the same time seeing his actions gives the viewer a lot of additional emotions and food for thought.
In addition, I would like to thank Netflix for their excellent tendency to release series in one fell swoop.
9 out of 10
With an accident, and the origins of history, Marvel Entertainment begins its next television series, telling about a blind since childhood lawyer, Matt Murdoch, who discovers incredibly heightened feelings, and uses them to fight crime on the streets of the night “Hell’s Kitchen” (NY). Marvel Television and ABC Studios, through streaming video service Netflix, engaged in the production of the television series created by Drew Goddard, and based on the character of the same name Marvel comics, the main role in which, approved the British actor Charlie Cox, convincingly and confidently performing his hero, like other actors of the television series.
Matt Murdoch, aka Daredevil, along with his friend and business partner, Foggy Nelson, work as lawyers, and are not so experienced in this difficult case, but their interest and enthusiasm help them to successfully advance their careers. Novice lawyers protect the victims and abused in the courtroom, but Matt, unlike his friend, does not want to follow the law all the time, so he is an ordinary lawyer by day and a masked superhero at night who cleanses his hometown of intruders and criminals. You can watch the combination of the qualities of Kick-Ass and Saul Goodman, without transparency and humor, as well as enchanting bursts of wit, but with a certain charm and mystery, generating inquisitiveness and attractiveness. Together with its protagonist, who lives in a world of eternal darkness, the series acquires the same obscure, gloomy, sometimes paranoid and sad color, which is perfectly combined with the criminal and dark alleys of the city, where there is no place for the usual rainbow, jokes and fun characteristic of Marvel. Looking at such outlines, we can say that Daredevil has more in common with DC than with Marvel, but this unusualness is more intriguing and attractive to itself than repulsive. However, it should be noted that not every innovation is able to keep the viewer for a long time, but Daredevil so far manages this well, because in addition to dirt and fights, the series gradually introduces new and entertaining characters, comparing them with cruel circumstances, insidious and dangerous area.
The world of eternal darkness and darkness, filled with rustling, creaking and smelling, which you can touch, touch and eat, and thanks to the acute feelings of other organs, Murdoch manages to perceive and know this world without even seeing it with his own eyes. “Hell’s Kitchen”, with its charm, magnificence and at the same time, abomination and dirt, fascinates and captivates, allowing you to penetrate and feel it, which can not be said about Matt Murdoch himself, who initially appears as a closed book, which involuntarily wants to flip through, learn, taste, and if you dig well, you can see that he firmly holds on to the past, from where all his inner fears and concepts of the external, surrounding world are formed. Restoring justice on the streets of the city by the most radical and decisive methods, Daredevil remains independent and unpredictable, which, in addition to sympathy and disposition, entails even greater interest and involvement in the person himself, because more often superhero abilities are much more in demand and desirable than understanding and studying the inner world hidden under the mask, however, the hero skillfully and skillfully copes with enemies, flooding already cruel and soulless streets with their blood, because protecting his beloved city from evil, is a priority for him. This combination of beauty and dirt is delightful, and the TV series boasts impressive tricks, martial arts, as well as interesting characters and events, along with character and hardness, leaving a feeling of something more remarkable, significant and exciting.
Following 'Constantin' another series from the feature film went on TV format - 'Daredevil'. The film, released in 2003 with Ben Affleck in the title role, was commercially successful, but did not collect the best reviews. And even there was a sequel, but without 'Daredevil' - 'Electra' which was just terrible.
Promo trailers I liked, and the series I expected with interest. In this review, I want to share my impression of the series by watching the pilot episode.
The film was not much different, because we saw in fact already established lawyers Matt and Foggy, in the series we see how they begin to engage in advocacy. Well, in fact, in the movies could observe a more detailed history of childhood and relationship with his father, the format of flashbacks appeals to me more, and clearly in the series chose him.
In the story, Matt Murdoch is an aspiring lawyer who wants to help people who are in trouble in court, and if it does not work, then achieve the justice of the night in the form of an avenger ' Daredevil' in Hell's Kitchen. In the first court case, Matt and Foggy get immediately into unclean affairs, which are turned in Hell’s Kitchen. Where Matt Murdoch/Daredevil will have to clean up.
As for the storylines, the format from which I still began to engage in advocacy I liked, just as I left the story of childhood with relationships with my father to disclose not immediately, but to the campaign, because the history of Daredevil depends on this. The very first episode from the point of view of local history was interesting, and the events developed quite vividly and logically. They were also more intertwined with the holistic history that is happening in Hell’s Kitchen.
According to the actors, Charlie Cox is interesting to play, Matt Murdoch in his performance is much more realistic than Affleck was, but at the same time unusual in himself, and believes in justice. Daredevil is much more ruthless, which perhaps the Avenger should be. Deborah Ann Wall is pretty cute and plays her part well. Elden Hancock is not yet out of the picture.
By effects, the series looks good due to the atmosphere that is present in the film.
'Daredevil' - I will undoubtedly continue to watch a much more real story about the Avenger, which initially touched upon quite important aspects for the development of storylines.
