I've got it, of course. The film is solid, with its own structure. There's a cut and a cut. There is also some intrigue, understatement, uncertainty, no one immediately reveals the map. The actors, in my opinion, coped with their task. I didn't notice the playfulness, the falsehood. The characters are colorful.
The ghost rider is married to Emma Frost, who is friends with Deborah Morgan, and the head of the corporation ' Wayland-Yutani' commits lynching.
But hello. Nicolas Cage plays a simple teacher whose wife is raped. A man is contacted by a group of vigilantes who kill criminals, covering the deaths as accidents and suicides.
The example of this organization clearly shows that any spontaneously arising group of Vigilante (no matter how noble their intentions) eventually ceases to differ from those with whom they fight. It's sad. For example, the Ku Klux Klan was originally designed to lynch criminals (not just blacks). What happened in the end is known.
The film is titled 'Seeking Justice', which means “Search for Justice.” In Russian translation, the picture was called ' Hungry Rabbit Attacks' – a code phrase used by the Vigilantes.
In general, even if you don’t approve of lynching, the movie deserves to be seen because of the actors.
While George Miller became famous throughout the world thanks to the unstoppable races of Mad Max, and Mel Gibson finally conquered the Dream Factory along with William Wallace from Braveheart, their colleague Roger Donaldson more delicately and thoroughly stormed the Hollywood hills, preferring to reveal complex human characters caught in an unusual situation. Donaldson’s first significant success was the historical drama Bounty with the participation of Gibson and Anthony Hopkins, after which the director was offered to work with Tom Cruise on Cocktail, which became a classic. In the future, Donaldson expected, albeit not the brightest, but a confident career, decorated with such diverse works as “Minor” and “Dante Peak”, which demonstrated the master’s ability to competently develop narratives in completely different genre conditions. Slowly, but at the same time confidently Roger Donaldson won the respect of the audience, meeting on the set with high-status celebrities and influential producers, who always need a strong director, who has a strong hand and the ability to correctly conduct the idea from the infancy to the final stage of editing. Having a significant reputation, Donaldson received a rare right for modern directors to choose only those projects that cause him genuine interest. And although in some cases he still has to make certain concessions, the main thing is that each film by Roger Donaldson has its own strengths and will not disappoint the demanding viewer, who requires in addition to visual entertainment also a semantic part, leaving after watching long memories. One of these films can be safely considered “The Hungry Rabbit Attacks”, a tense and exciting parable of revenge, which turns into completely unforeseen circumstances. Putting the thriller in isolation from the major studios, Donaldson again gained the much-desired artistic independence and managed to implement the script of Robert Tannen and Tod Hickey with a fair amount of self-irony, bold creative decisions and brilliant acting by Nicholas Cage, who demonstrated a high level of skill despite the doubts of skeptics who consider it their duty to walk the critical rink for absolutely every work of a long-suffering celebrity, regardless of whether it deserves it or not.
So, the plot of the film introduces us to the teacher of the school for difficult teenagers Will Gerard (Cage). With enthusiasm engaged in his prescribed duties, the hero tries to dilute the monotonous gray everyday life with a cultural program for students and one day he decides to reduce the ward class to a classical music concert, where he immediately notices the charming Laura (Jenyuary Jones), with whom he later manages to make a close romantic acquaintance. Unable to break away from each other, happy lovers decide to stay together forever and it seemed that all past adversity remained in the past, and the future paints exceptionally bright prospects, when suddenly Laura was attacked by an unknown person, beat her and raped. Disheartened Will tries to believe that the criminal will be found and convicted with all the rigour of the official law, but the investigation is in no hurry to throw all his forces on the capture of the escaped rapist. And then a grieving teacher comes to the aid of one Simon (Guy Pearce), a representative of the secret organization of the Avengers, ready to perform what the police seem completely uninteresting. Simon promises to soon find the fugitive and eliminate him without conscience. The reward should be some of the services that Will, in turn, must perform for the organization. And when he was finally approached for repayment, Will began to understand the full extent of the mistaken decision. flirting with an organization that nothing can stop, the school teacher must get out of the trap he fell into, otherwise his personal story will not end on a major note.
The tape of Roger Donaldson is built on the inexorable desire to avenge the offenses of a loved one and this is a very strong dramatic basis with successfully realized prospects. The director in all colors shows us the bitter despair of the most ordinary person, faced with danger that lurks in literally every corner and the viewer does not find it difficult to put himself in the place of Will Gerard, who is able only with senseless fury to squeeze his fists sitting at the hospital bed of his battered wife. Therefore, when approached by someone who is able to influence the situation and perform revenge without unnecessary talk and a lengthy trial, it is not surprising that a humble teacher with deep moral principles agrees to circumvent the imperfections of the established order. Together with the main character, we feel anxiety and at the same time relief, but as we know from the classic proverb, nothing is free in our lives. Once you have to pay for everything and then it will be too late to lament the hastily made decisions, after which the main part of the detective thriller begins, causing genuine tension. People who previously seemed to be the voice of hard, but just revenge are far from as beneficent as Will would like, and he himself is transformed from a sad mattress into the likeness of the heroes of militants, because otherwise he would very soon be overtaken by retribution and it is necessary to act as long as there is an opportunity to get out with minimal damage.
It is gratifying that by signing to star in Roger Donaldson’s film, Nicolas Cage once again managed to pick up a role that needed to be worked on more thoroughly than he had been used to in recent years. The school teacher performed by Cage looks like a typical average American, and even when he has to try on the garb of an action hero, Cage manages to look awkward and show with all his appearance that he is a teacher driven by fear and adrenaline, and not some former special forces officer, for completely incomprehensible reasons decided to change the field situation to an office with a board and a desk. Not least to thank for such a study of the character is Roger Donaldson, who is used to working with his actors and paternally instruct them, because otherwise even the most masterfully written script turns into a set of empty clichés for one viewing. Also in the context of the film, it is necessary to note the amazing performance of Guy Pearce, who even surpassed Nicolas Cage. Embodiing the mysterious Simon, looking at Gerard and pushing him to irreparable actions, Pierce is literally intoxicated with the opportunities presented to him. He's a record villain, a killer, and he doesn't hide it. But at the same time, he sets himself cold, reasonable goals and never does anything for nothing. In this regard, we can even say that the villain looks much more remarkable than the title antagonist. And this despite the fact that Nicholas Cage also worked out his role at a high dramatic level.
“The Hungry Rabbit Attacks” is a smart, entertaining and dynamic detective thriller that honors its authors and is able to interest audiences who doubt the professional fitness of Nicolas Cage. Director Roger Donaldson again came out the winner of the impromptu art fight, and therefore I wish you only a fascinating viewing.

First, we see a loving couple, a musician and a teacher at school. Every happiness can one day be shattered, the wife becomes a victim of violence. What can a loving person do after that? Will he be angry, will he want revenge? But where can such revenge without a sound decision lead? This is what every person thinks about after what they have done.
Hungry rabbit attacks.
And everything goes to hell. The main character turns into a kind of detective who is trying to save his own life. He goes through a lot of events, some of them are criminal and administrative in nature, avoiding police prosecution. He seeks the truth and soon finds what he is looking for.
"The Hungry Rabbit Attacks" Again
And here it is, the very “final battle”, after which the main character must necessarily come out victorious.
The picture is not memorable, you can look once and have fun, even laugh in places. But I don’t want to watch such a movie.
The system itself organizes the poles of its negation. This was said by Guy Debord in the greatest philosophical and political work of the twentieth century - in the Society of the Spectacle. When the methods of virtual enslavement of the masses weaken, become temporarily unreliable, then the System (the media oligarchic community represented by its social ties and institutions) allegedly takes the side of the anti-systemists. So there are all sorts of “Matrix”, “Fight Clubs”, “American Stories X”, “Anarchist Cookbooks”, etc. The goal is to lower all any reasonable anti-systemic attempts into the safe channel of self-admiration of intelligent renegades and aesthetic perverts. In the extreme case, to gather all the discontented in a certain symbolic ghetto, that is, to make a subculture. Like they did in punks, hippies, bikers, goths. Today, this process is in full swing relative to the main modern Western anti-systemists – anarchists and Nazis. I speak of Western anti-systemists, because the only distinctive form of our protest is to intox the body or soul with some kind of opium and dream under it of our former greatness. That's why I'm not talking about us.
In addition to the aforementioned scumbags (of which only anarchist communities have great potential), today the System is trying to put an integral part of American identity on the brakes, in principle, no one but the Americans understand. This is a civil police force. Not in terms of systematized cops or cops. It is a popular militia of free citizens who take responsibility for the restoration of order and law.
We don't understand. After the split, we have nothing but the State and the spontaneous attempts of a drunken crawl out from under its machinations. Therefore, the civilian militia of the Pindos is an approximate analogue of our criminal brothers, who oppose their “concepts” to the exhausted law, which is “what breathes...” Thus, the main thing in the civil militia is not the movement itself, but ideology. In the case of the Americans, it is the ideology of a free civil society, for which the state with all its attributes is only a servant. (It sounds like heresy to us!)
Mediacracy with the help of tools of formation of mass consciousness (unprecedented efficiency) is trying through Hollywood to convey to us the message of “one America” with the Senate, Obama, the monument to Honest Abe, etc. But in reality, there are at least two Americas (except for the anarchist project). In addition to the state apparatus helping the fattest and dumbest nation to fill its belly, physical and emotional, there is another America. Relatively speaking, this is the America of the South. Yeah, once a slave owner. And also land, communal, autonomous, traditional, conservative-Christian. The South, which seems to be absent in America, flooding through screens and monitors the entire connected part of humanity. It is America (rather just a footprint or a project) composed of free and strong men to whom the Law is the name of God. And so it's indisputable.
No wonder the director and plot of the film constantly polemics with one of the founders of conservatism - Edmund Burke. And the title of the film beats his philosophy, and direct quotes from the lips of bloodthirsty villains sound.
That's who these guys are that are attacking. The purpose of the film is to show the flawed project of strong and free people. To show how everything is emasculated into criminality and political pragmatism, which is bound to the same systemic mediacracy, which is sweet to the Russian heart.
So, guys, let's live together! Don’t buy guns – let the niggers and Nashen kids arm themselves to the teeth. Do not create social connections – think only about your situational world, locked in a reinforced concrete cell. Don’t help bring justice, run home and call the police. Although everyone knows what human waste is the main contingent of this police force, the main thing is to calm yourself in your indifference. Do not shout at the scoundrel in his villainy - plug your ears with headphones, run to your Facebook. Take it easy. Take a break from consumption to prepare for a new portion of consumption. The state – if you are loyal – will give you the minimum necessary to exist for your pleasure. But what the State exists for, what it is and what it consists of, do not worry, guys, do not think. Otherwise, you'll come up with something that will ruin your comfortable life support.
The above is the main topic of the film. What if the guys decided to create some “fight clubs” again? Not just to wave posters and slap “likes” in “Kontakte”, but to do something serious that would reduce or remove dependence on the State. What if they decide to create real communities, associations, artels, squats, kibbutzim, communes? What if it all works? What if they quit their work and go to earth to live a real life? What if they learn to protect themselves? Who will need officials then? What will the oligarchs earn on the new yachts (this question is for the far-sighted)? Who will watch thousands of episodes of debilitating series and talk shows, zombie newscasts and commercials?
No, you can't let that happen! Therefore, the System wisely does not silence alternatives to a free civil society. The system makes this alternative absurd and terrifying. This is called “forming public opinion.” And no one looks at the side, beyond the frame. Because I don’t think there is any alternative. That there is something else that pretends to be reality.
I can’t fight off the obsessive association with the British cartoon “The Curse of the Werewolf Rabbit” from the cycle of adventures of Wallace and Gromit. The stupid name, under which the tape of Roger Donaldson was released in the Russian rental, as always, was taken out of context by our localizers. However, after watching the film, it becomes finally clear that if they translated the title literally (“In Search of Justice”), this depressingly dreary and uninteresting criminal thriller would not have collected a third of the amount that fell to his share in theaters of our country.
"It's good to be a king," Mel Brooks' character from the famous World History would exclaim. It's really good. Twelve out of seventeen million, two-thirds of the money wasted on this film, is the royalty of the main guest star, Nicolas Cage. No wonder the actor, according to the latest published in the media data, takes the sixth place in the list of the most overpaid stars of Hollywood. And "The Hungry Rabbit Attacks" is exactly the project whose profits went into Cage's pocket. As they say, first you work for the name, and then the name plows on you.
... School teacher in literature Will Gerard had a misfortune in life: his beloved beautiful wife Laura in a dark alley was beaten and raped by some scumbag. The police are shaking hands, because this happens on the streets of New Orleans every day. You can't look at your wife without tears, and Gerard can't find his place in despair. And then a neatly dressed man sits down to him and offers all possible help. No, not rehabilitation by a psychologist, not even monetary compensation. The mysterious Simon offers the teacher an oral offer - his organization finds the rapist and sends the first flight to hell, and in return Will promises to fulfill some small errand in the future. This is the “offer you can’t refuse.”
The upset husband did not hesitate for long. And having received a photo of the dead offender in his hands - and completely calmed down. And for the quickly flown six months managed to forget about the deal with conscience. But Simon hasn't forgotten. He called soon after. At first, it seemed that the debt would not be red in payment, but when it came to murder, the teacher realized that he was in a pinch. Creditors threaten that if Will does not fulfill all the terms of the agreement, then anything can happen. Mostly not good. Hell with them, Will decides, I'm gonna push that pedophile off the bridge. However, before he could calm the tremors in his knees, the cops showed up in the apartment, and the “pedophile” was actually a reporter for a local newspaper, digging hard for Simon’s organization. And Will himself is only a toy in the hands of cunning machinators, an unnecessary witness and expendable material, whose song is sung.
Roger Donaldson is an uneven director. His filmography jumps zigzags, representing a series of failures and successes. For the first time Donaldson declared himself in 1984, the historical adventure film “Bounty” (not about chocolate, but about the mutiny on the ship). It was followed by cheerful political action "No Exit" with Kevin Costner and the popular melodrama "Cocktail", finally confirmed the star status for Tom Cruise. For 15 years, in the period from 1990 to 2005, the director worked closely in the criminal genre: on his account such films as “White Sands” with Mickey Rourke, “Escape” with the participation of the married couple Baldwin-Basinger and “Recruit” with Al Pacino. At the same time, Roger reached the bottom along with the failure of the fantastic horror film “Special”.
Recognition of viewers and critics Donaldson gained in 2005, when he met with an old friend Anthony Hopkins (Bounty) on the set of the life-affirming drama The Fastest Indian. And it seemed that in the future the director would not make mistakes, catching his wave. Alas, returning to the criminal “track” turned into a disaster for him. Donaldson’s latest film, The Hungry Rabbit Attacks, is a nightmarish and incredibly boring set of stamps. For a director with such experience in the genre - just a disgrace.
Some reviewer managed to call the picture the best in the filmography of Cage in the last 10 years. Buddy, are we talking about the same Cage? This pseudo-intellectual with a beard who, except for the initial frames with the credits, walks around with a face like a crowbar in his ass. Mr. Sour Lemon got his nickname for good reason, but for an eight-figure fee we expected something more than a couple of emotions. Especially pleasing is the “realism” of the character, when a modest teacher of literature and an SUV famously rules, and with a gun is controlled and even ready to engage with enemies in hand-to-hand combat. Or does he still teach physical education in tandem with OBJ?
His wife, played by actress with the cold name Jennifer Jones, is generally a strange creature. Being the engine of the plot, because it is because of her that our hero got stuck in all these wilds and connected with the bad guys, she periodically falls out of the script. That is, at some stage, the authors become uninteresting and they delete Mrs. Gerard from the narrative, then remember about her again. The same goes for the villains that belong in the Agent Austin Powers movies, not in a serious thriller. This whole conspiracy theory and the completely idiotic password involving the “hungry rabbit” doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. In such cases, you always want to know what kind of “gifted” persons are behind the writing of the text. There are two of them. One is actually a debutant, the other is a former operator. Here are the answers to all your questions.
The plot can be forgiven for flaws, blunders and shortcomings only when gaping holes in logic are skillfully covered with a staged sweep or drive. The Hungry Attacking Rabbit doesn’t have the first one because of its budget. And the second, alas, failed. Cage runs from his pursuers sluggishly, reluctantly, and they do not particularly try to catch him. After all, everyone knows perfectly well that under the curtain they are destined to gather at some abandoned factory and settle scores with the maximum number of corpses. The laws of the genre, you know. Only that is why all other laws, including the postulates of physics, logic and common sense, are denied.
A ton of delirium, lousy acting, flat as flounder, plot and a complete lack of intrigue. This “rabbit” was not so hungry to the attention of the audience, and therefore the fighter could not cope with the attack, bringing its creators continuous losses, and us – disappointment.

United States of America, New Orleans. After apparently watching the TV series “Dexter Justice”, especially compassionate citizens create the organization “Hunger Rabbit Attacks”. And when a loved one is killed, or, as in the case of a simple teacher, Will, his wife is raped, the organization offers help. All you need to do is provide a similar service. Without thinking twice, Will agrees, the rapist is killed, and he himself becomes involved in a suspiciously sticky case - the teacher is instructed to kill a pedophile who is kind of not a pedophile at all. And, in the end, Will decides to take matters into his own hands and replenishes himself, so a considerable list of American heroes who decided to fight the system on their own.
And Nicolas Cage, meanwhile, continues to supplement the lines of his resume with not too attractive projects, such as “Justice Seeker”, and in the domestic box office – “The Hungry Rabbit Attacks”. And if an inquisitive actor who is looking for an excuse has a question “Why, Nicholas?”, the answer will be the amount of the fee appearing opposite the actor’s name. Receiving $12 million from a $17 million budget, Nicholas killed a pair of rabbits, though not hungry. Firstly, he made good money, and secondly, he warmed up the interest of viewers to the film, which without his participation would not have collected half of the “impressive” $400,000 in the United States and $600,000 in Russia.
"The Hungry Rabbit Attacks" is a kind of interpretation of Stephen King's 5-page short story "Corporation Quit Smoking." Only instead of fighting smoking - contract killings of the scum of society. And it is quite logical that stretching a tiny story on a half-hour film, it would be good to add a little dynamics. However, “The Hungry Rabbit”, declared in the genre as an action movie or a thriller, hardly possesses the mentioned quality. Not that the action is not at all, it is somehow in place and sometimes even captivating, but its very essence is too banal, the intrigue is too obvious, and the outcome is too predictable. So it remains for those few daredevils and personal fans of Cage to watch the actor, doomed to follow the actions prescribed for him in the script, work out his fee. At some points, the plot, like a battered bird, tries to fly up with the last of its strength, but eventually falls again without strength to the ground, and drags, bleeding characters and Cage tears, to its conclusion. These rare highs, quite convincing Guy Pearce in the role of a villain, and Cage’s face, though dotted with sadness and wrinkles, but retaining traces of former brilliant performances – what will help to cope with the “Hunger Rabbit”, without strangling him during the viewing. Is it enough to turn the movie into something worthwhile? The answer is definitely no. Is it enough to put “another Nicholas Cage action movie” on the list of good ways to kill an hour and a half? Definitely.
The film caused a lot of positive emotions and good impressions. The best Cage movie of late. It would be better for this actor. However, let's go in order.
The writers worked their money on conscience. Such an interesting story, I have not seen in a movie for a long time. The film can boast, not only a first-class idea, but also, quality worthy performance. Created a secret organization of avengers, which must deal with murderers and bandits. But any system, sooner or later, can fail. Exactly, that's what's happening. Cage's hero is embroiled in a crime. It all begins with the brutal rape of his wife. A quid pro quo. After killing the rapist, the organization demands retaliation. The target is a reporter trying to expose her. Well, I won't go into the story. There's a lot to see in the movie. The camera work is very good. Music creates the right atmosphere. One of the producers is Tobey Maguire. For your budget, this picture looks very good. There's enough dynamics and action here. It is worth writing about actors separately. Nicholas Cage played well. A talented actor. There has been a lull in his career recently. However, there are interesting pictures in which the actor will still please us with his work. This kind of role is very suitable for Cage. In this film, he plays a teacher, a family man and a loving husband. In general, quite, a vital and natural hero. I really liked the beautiful actress Jennifer Jones. For the role of beauty, the wife was perfect. Plus, with Cage, she looked good. An interesting character went to Guy Pierce. Shavehead and inadequate. He made me fearful from the beginning. Perhaps it is worth mentioning Harold Perrineau. Very good actor. His participation made the film more interesting. I will not write about the other actors. They fit perfectly into the film and played their roles well.
In general, this is a worthy movie with an interesting plot, which, you can safely recommend to everyone to watch. Here, there is everything to make this viewing enjoyable. High-quality, tense, saturated with an action-packed atmosphere thriller. Make sure you watch. Thank you very much.
Will Gerard (Nicholas Cage) is an ordinary high school teacher, for bad teenagers. And one day, an ordinary evening, while playing chess with a friend, Will learns that his wife Laura is beaten to death by a maniac. Seeing his disfigured wife, who was on the verge of death, Will falls into despair and then a certain Simon offers his services to him, who offers revenge, Will agrees. But he did not know that sooner or later, Simon will ask for a return favor.
With a rather interesting beginning, the film simply drowned in the course of events before the final denouement, thus creating a large gap between the beginning and the end, which makes it simply not interesting to watch.
The script is composed, well, just terrible, not a single interesting dialogue, not a single interesting scene, except for the final, in this film there is no and even if you look at the script under a microscope, bright spots will not be found there. Disappointed Nicolas Cage, in his game there was absolutely no emotion, no charisma, was not on the screen of that Cage, whom everyone knows from the film "The Rock", "Faceless", etc., where he was great, and was also an example for imitation of young people. Here, playing an ordinary teacher, he only creates a depressing show, which is very disappointing. But Guy Pierce, on the contrary, coped with his role perfectly, playing a man who holds all the threads in his hands. He was the only ray of hope for which to watch this film.
Conclusion: The film is very boring, absolutely not catchy: neither the play of actors, nor the plot, nor even more dialogue. So I advise you not to waste your time watching this movie.
The name of director Roger Donaldson, to put it bluntly, is not well known. Among the merits there is only an old "Bounty", with Gibson, nominated for a palm branch, and a couple of militants: "Recruit" with Pacino and "Robbery on Baker Street" with Statham, perhaps everything.
Roger’s new film is a classic story of a man not connected to the criminal world – the “other side”, but being drawn into a web of behind-the-scenes games, forced to save his own skin, as well as loved ones and relatives.
The idea of bringing philosophical research into the picture looks good, but this has already happened. The director quite skillfully places accents, changes places of the hunter and the victim, pumping up suspense and twisting the intrigue. Unfortunately, all the bad guys are guessed at the very beginning, you just need to look carefully.
Oddly enough, Cage managed to embody the image of a hero so lost that since Leaving Las Vegas for me, this is one of his best roles.
Guy Pearce is also good, but I didn’t see him play that kind of personality, quite schematically played. Jones performed the role of extras well, and the role was not particularly heavy, to be honest.
Bottom line: a good, action-packed one-off film about people in ironed suits doing justice on their behalf. The law enforcement system is no longer working.
Yes, something with Cage lately is not that if 10 years ago, films with his participation looked wild and not once revised, now I agree with the writer, the name of Cage in the credits is alarming, and does not lead to viewing. He was no exception, and “The Hungry Rabbit Attacks” by Roger Donaldson, in fact, whose surname and pushed, to view this linen. Well, what can be said from the director of Bounty, The Fastest Indian and The Baker Street Robbery, I expected, if not a masterpiece, then at least an interesting and memorable work.
Will (actually Cage) is a teacher at a school for difficult teenagers, and part-time humanitarian, pacifist, family man, but here the quiet course of life is disturbed by misfortune. After playing chess with a colleague, Will learns that his wife (Jones) has been raped. In the hospital, where his wife is being treated, Cage’s hero meets a certain Simon (Guy Pearce), who offers Will revenge on the scum, but for this Will will have to provide a return service.
The idea is interesting and the beginning is intriguing, but after half an hour all interest in the tape disappears. Despite the fact that the duration of the film is 1.40, viewing turns into torture and the reason for this is the complete predictability of the narrative.
Heroes do not elicit any emotional response. In my opinion, if what is happening on the screen does not make the characters worry, then to put it mildly, the film failed. The only feeling left after watching the picture is regret for the ruined idea.
In conclusion, I will say that the only bright spot, created on the screen of the capito, was Guy Pearce, perfectly performed the image of a madman-fighter for justice, but it is not worth those spent two hours.

Nicolas Cage is a good actor. At one time, the films “The Rock”, “The Air Prison” and “The Faceless” were (and even now are) excellent films that can be watched many times. Over time, there were a lot of films with his participation and not all of them, unfortunately, were interesting. No, there have been some good projects, but lately, Cage has started taking over.
“The Hungry Rabbit Attacks” was released when the audience expected him and believed that the movie would come out as a good, strong and interesting thriller, and would pull old Cage out of second-rate roles. But, unfortunately, even this project and the actor’s twelve million dollar fee did nothing to make the film worthwhile.
The first thing that deserves attention is the acting that pulls the whole film. I do not know who is counting on the game Nicholas Cage can safely prepare to turn off the film at half viewing, since Nicholas is in the usual image of an ordinary guy with a moronic hairstyle, which has not changed for more than five years, and maybe longer. Guy Pearce Perhaps the man who plays a sultry, cold-blooded and tough guy and thanks to him you can not break away from the screen. I was pleased with the small, but significant for the plot role Jennifer Carpenter.
The plot of the film is interesting, which is true. At first glance, he seems ordinary. But on the other hand, it is simple and attractive. After all, films about revenge are interesting because there is revenge.
The production and the artistic component limp on both legs. All the grayness and gray-blue tones of New Orleans in the bottom film do not look intriguing, not gloomy and in general, probably, no one worked on the color scheme. You can only keep silent about camera work, because in the films that come out on DVD, it is much better and more inventive.
It turns out that “The hungry rabbit attacks / b” is an average or better to say pass thriller, which has its pros and dominant cons. The movie, which failed at the box office, but somehow fought off the fee of Nicholas Cage, who again played his not the best role.

Oh, and poor lad this "Nicholas Cage" who once gave hopes for the most talented actor of his generation, recent years have turned his name into a trademark of passing and second-rate cinema. What is most interesting, judging by his fees and filming density, he continues to be one of the most popular in Hollywood.
This time, the actor tried to take the director Roger Donaldson under his care, the name is not loud enough, but the entertainment genre has been spoiling for quite a long time, and some of his works are considered quite normal. And Nicholas Cage himself has already forgotten what it means to play in independent films, so they and the director in this film came together.
I will not deny, the idea of the picture is quite interesting, the scope of course not "Fight Club" or "Games", but there were prospects. What happened is that you can look at the collections and Western criticism, the film "The Hungry Rabbit Attacks" it would be more correct to say not just a bad movie, but a typical film in which Nicolas Cage plays in recent years.
It seems that the actor himself enjoys his work, one at least pleases, tries to avoid fake melodramas and various youth comedies, but finally concentrated in the genre of thrillers, criminal and action films. Summarizing - "The Hungry Rabbit Attacks" the film is not even for a one-time viewing, it is something that is even difficult to find a definition, a promising idea, a good casting - and everything turns out as if they shot ours. And we're scolding our directors.
To begin with, the last decent Nicholas Cage movie came out for me 10 years ago. It was an adaptation. Then there were a lot of disappointments ("Waited Man, Ghost Rider, etc.), and I mentally said goodbye to the thought that this undoubtedly interesting actor (who really does not have any definite role) will play (that is, will play) in a normal movie.
And here's the movie. " The hungry rabbit attacks.” I don't know how, but on some intuitive level I felt there was something interesting here. The name of director Roger Donaldson has bolstered interest and doubled the chances that the opus is worth seeing. Nicolas Cage's name has generally been repulsive lately, but I still gave him a chance for his past service. And for good reason.
The film is slowly but surely gaining momentum from the beginning. We are shown a happy couple of a school teacher (Cage) and his musician wife (Jenuerry Jones), they are doing well, then a bad guy commits a rape, a teacher in the hospital, in a state of shock accepts the offer of a stranger (Guy Pearce) to deal with a maniac rapist in exchange for further “small requests” (follow someone, send a letter).
In fact, Cage's character gives the green light to deal with his wife's abuser. Six months later, the couple gradually restored the former idyll, but by this time the “altruist stranger” Pierce asks to repay small exploits about which the agreement was made. Cage agrees, but gradually requests gain weight.
Again, the first half hour was boring, but on the other hand justified, as the main characters are allowed to open up and show themselves in everyday situations. Cage is especially pleased in the image of a literature teacher reading aloud Shakespeare, and with a very good acting.
It's been converted. The transformation of Cage’s character can be compared to the transformation of Brian Cranston from the series “Breaking Bad”. There's something in common. In principle, the actors here all play very well, and after a half-hour description of life and circumstances, the drive begins. And the drive cannot be transmitted better.
On the one hand, the film is secondary, but on the other, it brings something of its own, plus mixes a cocktail from Fincher’s Game, Breaking Bad and Three Days to Escape.
But the main one is Mr. Nicholas Cage. It hasn’t happened in a long time, it may surprise you.
Well, there's a moral to the movie, too. For love, man is capable of anything. And from cleaning the world of monsters, you can become a monster yourself.
Bravo Cage!Bravo Donaldson!Strong action, in a sense, a rare and endangered representative in its genre. )
What happened to Cage is completely unclear. Every new movie gets worse and worse. Apparently, his financial situation is already so deplorable that he has to take on everything in a row.
As for this particular film, the authors killed a very interesting idea with a completely stupid script. For example, the film begins with the fact that a man sitting in a car was taken on a battering ram and trying to throw from the parking lot, and he instead of pulling the handhold, opening the door and jumping out, that there is urine pressing the brake pedal. And such rude script blunders in the film just can not count. At the same time, the film is quite dynamic and despite the scripted absurdities, the hand does not reach to turn it off. In general, if you have time that has nothing to do and / or you are a very big fan of Cage, you can watch the movie once. In other cases, it is not recommended to watch.
The film is based on the eternal question of public morality, affecting the problem of the relationship between crime and punishment, justice and justice.
The main character of the picture (the hero of Nicholas Cage – Will Gerard) is a school teacher who daily encounters difficult teenagers of dysfunctional New Orleans, but manages to adhere to high moral principles.
However, fate-villain is very fond of testing such people for strength and Will was no exception: in his life there is a terrible tragedy – the rape of his wife, immediately after which, when Will still arrives in a state of shock, a certain citizen, representing the organization of “people’s avengers”, addresses him. New Orleans, with a proposal to make a fair trial of the rapist, and conditionally free (in return, the organization reserves the right to apply to Will with a minor request in the future). Shortly hesitating, Will agrees and soon receives confirmation of the death of the perpetrator who attacked his wife.
But for any service sooner or later you have to pay so, as they say, be afraid of your desires. It turns out that in order to break off his obligations to the mysterious organization, Will will also have to kill someone, which causes Will himself a sharp protest. However, this organization is very sensitive and somewhat radical about the fulfillment of the promised. And now Will himself is in mortal danger.
The original title of the film was The Hungry Rabbit Jumps. According to the plot, this phrase is used by the mysterious organization as a password and is, in a way, the quintessential statement of Edmund Burke (English Edmund Burke, an English parliamentarian and philosopher of the Enlightenment), reflecting his attitude to the institution of justice. As the ideological founder of British conservatism, Edmund Björk believed that a decent person, in case of extreme necessity, should take justice into his own hands, guided by his own ideas about him: “All that is necessary to defeat evil is that a decent person do nothing.” There is a certain limit after which endurance, self-control cease to be a virtue. “Customs are more important than laws, for it is on them that laws depend” – these are some of the words of Edmund Bjerck, which fully reflect this view.
Very pleased with the director’s work, the play of actors, the film is perfectly staged and pleases with its realism, and dynamism, despite the philosophical undertones.
It’s hard to realize that the farther away, the more Nicolas Cage loads into the abyss of passing films. First there was “The Wicker Man,” “Dangerous Bangkok,” “Bad Lieutenant,” “Crazy Riding,” “What Hidden Lies,” and now it’s the turn of “The Hungry Attacking Rabbit.” And this film can not be said that it is bad, but it is also good to call the language does not turn.
The main problem, in my opinion, is that Roger Donaldson’s painting is at least 10 years late. In 2001, the movie would have caused quite a stir, but not now. There seems to be an interesting plot, and good directing, but all this does not cause delight. “Hungry rabbit” is simply nothing can surprise, because there are a large number of stamps, and in addition, many plot moves can be easily predicted in advance.
The undoubted advantages of the tape include dynamism, which does not allow you to fall asleep, as well as beautifully shot chases. Also “thank you” should tell Donaldson that his film looks really good, and not like a big-budget thrash, for example, “Crazy Riding” by Patrick Lucsier.
The cast of the film is quite impressive, but the fact that this is clearly not the level of Nicholas Cage is indisputable. His role could easily be performed by some other little-known actor. Guy Pierce played normally, but the villain turned out to be soft. It’s not his fault, but the writers.
In principle, “The Hungry Rabbit” is not so bad, and you can watch it, at least because of the relative of Coppola, who plays the main role. He belongs to the category of films that can be dubbed as a strong middle man. But secondary and stamps elementary spoil all the pleasure of viewing.

What are you willing to do for someone you care about?
Where do I start this review? With the fact that in order to help the people dear to us, we are ready to do anything or say that: 'Free cheese will still lead to a mousetrap'?
The answer is simple - the film is really very strong and touches on many important topics.
What happens if a law-abiding teacher is involved in a secret order ' Human Rights Defenders' under the pretext of getting rid of his wife's rapist, whom the police did not get to? The answer is simple - there will be problems that will become the plot of the film.
Speaking of the film as a whole, as a thriller lover, I cannot help but give the film a solid 9. The movie is really worth it.
It’s as if we’re all born innocent angels as Nicholas Cage is innocent as a teacher. But life presents a lot ' interesting' and one day makes you make a choice: Become the devil for revenge or to live in fear. Nicholas Cage chooses the first: revenge. But he was tricked.
The poor teacher was only told to be asked to break a couple of security cameras and instead forced to become a murderer.
On the run from his own mistake, the teacher himself becomes a victim for whom the hunt is being conducted and who was called for everyone the same rapist as the man who was told to remove the teacher.
What to say - the film as not to twist life and instructive.
Moral: Do not get into the ranks of all ' Avengers' otherwise: 'The Hungry Rabbit' someday it will attack you.
It took me two days to watch the movie, as the constant chases (which are a huge minus for the film) knocked me out of sleep. The main attraction of the film, undoubtedly — Nicholas Cage. Well, behind the fame of Nicholas was the director of the film – Roger Donaldson, whom, personally, I love and respect for the Fastest Indiana.
The script and atmosphere of the film are not perfect. The first part of the film shows us a logical chain of situations in which by the will of fate an exemplary family man and school teacher Will Gerard (Nicholas Cage), but the second part of the film (or rather 2/3) - pumped up! Chasing, chasing, chasing...
In general, the idea of the film is to show all of us that evil can be fought with other methods, bypassing law enforcement and local government. Organizations such as the Hungry Rabbit Attacks could be called “Friends”: Well, we've been through something like this before...
Of course, Nicholas's performance does not question his acting professionalism. Well, let the film not become a box office, will not have loud praise speeches ... The main thing is that Nicholas will receive $ 12 million “forever green”, and this, everyone understands, a pretty amount.
Very pleased with their presence in the film such personalities as Jennifer Carpenter and Harold Perrineau. I understand that their roles were not very significant and memorable ... but, for me personally, they turned out to be a decoration of the film.
I am sure that today such organizations as the Hungry Rabbit Attacks exist in our society. How can you be so sure? I don’t even know...
It's such a time we could use a little old-fashionedness.
The title to what is missing is "old"Cage.
Before I get to the movie, I’ll mention a few things. There were a lot of reasons not to see this movie. The rating of the film, reviews about it, the cover, in my opinion, is not in color at all and seems not to have been finalized, but the most important factor was that Nicolas Cage recently seems not to be reading the script, but agrees to participate as soon as he learns the fee or something else. There were not many arguments for watching this film. Positive feedback from a close friend and my illusion that this time I may not be upset.
Usually break the review is not several phases, but here perhaps everything will be short and clear.
Film.
Not much to say, the ending is typically American: everyone is alive and well, and bad scoundrels are punished, although in the end there was a hint that the system is still working. The installation was very dynamic, and the operator has no words - the work is done on conscience. The script is not top-class, but chips like "The Hungry Rabbit Attacks" that occur in the most unexpected parts of the film pleased, this may have saved the film, but this is not enough.
Advice from me for the final result.
I can’t tell the reader that this movie is worth watching or not worth watching. A typical thriller, no wonder. If you are told that they will come for you in two hours and you do not know what to do, then watch this film, and if you are looking for a masterpiece, then alas, you are not at the right place, and it is unlikely that soon you will see a masterpiece of old times from Nicholas Cage, but so you want.
I will be politically correct and choose a neutral type of review, so perhaps it will be right.

A response service that could be the last in life.
One day I wanted to watch an action movie. Dynamic, spectacular and simple. And so, looking at different descriptions, I came across a movie with a title. The hungry rabbit attacks.” At first I thought it must be some kind of nonsense. But one thing that attracted me was Nicolas Cage. To be honest, his last films were not very good. As a result, I got acquainted with this picture and the feeling remained positive. Let’s find out why this creation is worth it.
It is worth noting that this film is very good, but it can be missed, thanks to the stupidly translated title. The original film is called “Seeking Justice” and if it were translated as “Search for Justice”, there would be more viewers. Yes, and the description itself looks like a typical:" the hero did evil - he takes revenge. But it's not that trivial.
So, plot. From the very beginning, we are introduced to the protagonist - Will Gerard. He's a teacher at a juvenile delinquents school. Despite his hard work, he lives a happy life. He has a wife, Laura, a nice apartment and a lucrative job. One night, they go to a bar to celebrate their wedding anniversary. The next day they go to their usual jobs: Will teaches and Laura plays in an orchestra. After a working day, the protagonist is delayed to play chess with his friend. Meanwhile, his wife is heading home. But on the way, she is attacked by a rapist, beats her and takes away the necklace her husband gave her for the anniversary. After this terrible incident, she goes to the hospital. The hero, learning of the tragedy, goes to the hospital.
And here comes the most interesting. The hero does not decide to take revenge, as is the case in many films. The fact is that a strange man approaches him and explains to Will that he works in a secret group that cleanses the city of murderers, maniacs, rapists - in general, organized lynching. This man offers the protagonist to get rid of the criminal who robbed and severely beat the wife of the hero. The latter initially refuses, but then, seeing in what state, is his beloved, agrees. They only need one thing in return: a service in the future. As a result, the perpetrator dies. And now, six months later, the same person comes to the hero and asks him for a service, which is simple surveillance. But later it all turns into a real hunt for Will, where he must save his wife, himself and uncover the truth. The plot is the most important thing in this picture and it will keep you at the screens until the very end.
The most surprising thing is that Hungry Rabbit Attacks is not a full-fledged action movie. This is more of a thriller, and very exciting and interesting. It is particularly interesting to watch developments. It’s not bad at first, but then, after one incident, the hunt for Will begins. Tension increases gradually, and situations become more dangerous. Of course, there are no special effects and explosions, although there will be a couple of chases and shootouts. All this was done at a very good level. But that's not the point. What matters is Will's condition. As the film progresses, he changes, his inner world gradually changes. All thanks to Cage's great play. After his last films, the role in this film is the best. There is also a bit of humor. For example, the moment in the stadium when Will forces the villain to perform stupid tasks by blackmailing him. Just as good is the music that gives the right atmosphere to everything that happens on the screen. That’s how I expected the action movie, and I saw a very interesting, exciting and thoughtful thriller.
What do we end up with? A great movie that keeps the viewer on edge until the very end. Great story, interesting, exciting and dynamic situations. Great performance by actors, especially Nicolas Cage, good music. This film will not disappoint you and will help you brighten up the evening.

New Orleans. School teacher of literature Will Gerard learns from missed for a friendly chess game SMS-messages that his wife-contrabassist, once again muzzed up late, raped and robbed by some disgusting type in boots made of crocodile leather. Trying to recover in the hospital emergency room, Will agrees to the offer of a man named Simon, who is unknown from where, to organize a quick and clean retribution in exchange for a small favor.
On the one hand, it seems as if the experienced Hollywood artisan Roger Donaldson, known to the general public thanks to, for example, “Recruit” with Colin Farrell or “The Robbery on Baker Street” with Jason Statham, is simply mocking the next relatively star cast entrusted to him. The action of the film is heaped with so many details, including those described above, that almost the entire first half resembles a joke told with an extremely serious mine. Nicholas Cage reads Shakespeare. Nicholas Cage walks in black. Nicholas Cage at the zoo. Janewary Jones and bow. Janeway Jones and a toothbrush. Bald Guy Pearce and the obligatory secondary Negro, by the right moment ceases to be both secondary and obligatory. On the other hand, for the film, based in essence on the famous phrase from the no less famous children’s game in the States (we remind you that Pierce’s character is called Simon), the authors keep the brand of the genre “the layman is drawn into dangerous spy intrigues” more than confidently. Turnouts, passwords, operational pseudonyms, turning into crime scenes of city sights (not forgotten, of course, and Hurricane Katrina) create the necessary degree of tension and allow you to close your eyes to the finale, traditionally slightly drawn out and very stereotyped.
Donalds’ mere commercially cynical fun games with their characters are probably still important – otherwise, any of the artists employed here could be replaced by less popular ones without much damage to the final result. Whatever it was, the film is more likely to be viewed. In the end, the same rabbit in the headline attacking while Simon talks is not only an interesting joke, but also quite a puzzle.
