I came across this series quite by accident. It was bribed to be compared to my favorite TV series Friends. Yes, it is very noticeable that the authors of Friends were inspired by Seinfeld when writing the script, many scenes and situations are very similar, some are almost a piggyback.
But!
'Seinfeld' is not funny...
Yes, there are jokes that made a smile, nothing more, and they can be counted on the fingers. The level of farce and delirium goes up in almost every series, I did not empathize with the characters, none of them caused me sympathy.
Jerry is an infantile pampered immature man, Kramer is a natural freak, George is just a nightmare of any psychiatrist, Elaine is like Jerry, a completely immature strange woman.
For 9 seasons, the characters do not progress in any way, 9 seasons they create some game, do not want to settle down, get smart and finally become happy.
Now I understand why this series was not broadcast in Russia and why Friends was able to surpass Seinfeld for many years to come.
In the end, I'm just sorry for the time spent.
“Seinfield” is a cultural phenomenon of the America of the 1990s, an insanely popular sitcom that almost the whole country watched. Over the turns of life of four no longer young single friends laughed people of different ages and views. Humor in the series has no checks and restrictions – the characters joke about baldness and low-fat yogurts, peeing in the shower and “spoon”, treason and divorce, “those who dress the same”, schnobels and blackface, Mayor Giuliani and Hitler. “Seinfield” is absolutely not tolerant, devoid of political loads, he is relaxed, realistic and that is why he is so ridiculous.
The series has inherent flaws of the sitcom - behind-the-scenes laughter, good, but uneven play of actors, the secondary end-to-end plot, which in "Seinfield" is reduced to absence, the conditionality of secondary characters against the background of four main characters who are like different faces of one figure.
Egocentric Jerry, in whose head the penis is battling the brain, classic Schlimazle George, Kramer, who thinks he can "hack" life and is about to pick up the code with the complementing Elin, which is the female version of all three. Heroes of the category 30++ live in a “teenage paradise” – grotesquely change partners like ties, remain friends, despite any antics, feel comfortable in the New York world, which is built around the cafe “Monks”. However, it turns out that all four from episode to episode and from season to season walk in the same circle of personal hell – their personal life, unlike sexual, can not improve, they step on the same rake. People and circumstances change around, heroes age, but do not grow up.
The vicious circle for the heroes was broken by Jerry Seinfield himself, who simply stopped the series because the actor had awards and commercial success, but there was no main thing - family and children. Perhaps this is the meaning of “Seinfield” – a game of life, however cheerful, can not replace life itself.
Everyone has a different sense of humor, but for me Seinfeld is the best way to laugh. And it is pleasant that the same opinion is held by critics who put the sitcom on one of the first places in different ratings.
The humor of the series is vital and relevant even 24 years after the finale. Problems of balding, "compression", who has the right to be the first to park, how to find out the name of the girl, if you forgot how to save on trips by plane, what to do if you were considered gay or your car began to smell. . .
- hence the second point: mastery of dialogue. They're alive and natural. And it can happen between close friends.
The series can be watched from any season or series. Surprisingly, there are no weak seasons in Seinfeld.
- Selfish. Heroes of the series joke on themselves, on the concept of the series about nothing.
- Seinfeld's universe. Almost all the actors of the sitcom are constant (only a few changes have occurred). And in some sixth season will remember the hero from the second season and the incident with him.
- beginning and end. The series begins with a button joke and ends with one of the characters saying, ‘I think we’ve talked about this before.’ Brilliant!
To sum up, if there is a perfect comedy, it is Seinfeld, which is still appreciated today. No wonder for its rerun in 2021, Netflix spent half a billion dollars.
It is very disappointing that this sitcom is little known in Russia, but Friends are popular, who, in fact, made a different version of Seinfeld and took a lot from him. And if you compare them, the comparisons will not come out in favor of "Friends".
Yes, humor, of course, is a subjective thing, some have cheekbones because of Chandler's eccentricities, others Seinfeld's jokes cause, at least, an approving smile. I confess that for the incomplete four seasons of the series of the same name, I never smiled once, although, lying, one joke still caused a frail laugh, and even then was forgotten immediately.
I don’t know what their funny authors promised in all the reviews, but with each season, unfortunately, I did not become more ridiculous.
She jumped from the 4th series of the 4th season to the 2nd episode of the 7th season in the vague hope of some upgrade, but alas - the same nonsense, empty conversations that, according to the idea of the authors of the type, should captivate the viewer with its acute social, domestic and ironic background. I listen to this eternal pathetic whining is not that it is not funny, but inexpressibly boring.
Yes, it is clear that this is a purely American series, the average resident of New York will certainly appreciate what is happening on the screen, maybe it is logical that I failed to catch this wave, no matter how hard I tried.
But the same "Friends", also born in the heart of New York, living somewhere similar, typical situations, play familiar or alien to us, non-Americans, scenarios with great sparkling, lightness, honesty, and, most importantly for a comedy sitcom, first-class humor. Believe them, empathize with them, they are full of charisma and bright individual traits, they grow in front of their eyes, develop like characters, and these four expressionless types only do what is wildly annoying, nothing more.
In short, as far as Seinfeld’s speech is concerned... Are you serious? Drobotenko jokes better.
So, in complete frustration with the show, I knocked it out for season 4. It's not funny. And I was so hoping to discover the second or first (given that Seinfeld came out a few years earlier) “Friends”.
The only advantage of the show is the wonderful actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who fell in love with another series - "Vice President" - that's where humor is guaranteed, coupled with excellent dramaturgy and topical, but unobtrusive agenda.
Well, "Seinfeld," that "series about nothing," has fully implemented its message, even too much. You couldn't do it so literally, you couldn't.
(1) Jerry: - I noticed he was shaving his head.
Elaine: I think it's pretty courageous.
Let me show you what courage is. (Indicates his balding head)
- What? Instead of shaving your hair clinging to pieces of hair?
- It's not scraps. These are the historical remains of the once great hair society!
2) Why is it that women can walk naked in the apartment, and we, men, do not?
- Pfff, say it too! The female body is a work of art, and the male - drawings on the fence.
For some reason, we have a little-known comedy sitcom. But I couldn’t stop watching until the end. Oh, it was a whole mini-age (9 seasons). This is an old comedy series from the 90s about life and party 4 friends. Of course, each of them has a heap of “dots”, and some are complete neurotics and at least very strange characters. What's the show about? Yeah, nothing really. It's just like a regular sitcom like Friends. Just people meet with new friends/boyfriends, just as quickly they mostly run away with them because of their zabubons, live, discuss topical topics and constantly get into situations, banter, irony. And he started slightly above average, but about the 4th season spread his wings. It’s a long way from “Friends,” but it’s pretty good. Especially against the background of the fact that there are few sensible series, and even comedy. I highly recommend 8 points
The creator of the series, stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld, actually shot the series about himself and his friends. There even in the first seasons in the beginning were inserted from his performances.
The series ends almost at the peak of popularity. Jerry was offered a very round sum for the sequel, but he refused, citing the fact that everything should end on time at the peak of fame and a good note.
A very good comedy series straight from the 90s about the life of four friends. Like "Friends."
“Seinfeld” is in many ways a big mystery for the Russian audience. A casual user can, for example, read about the fact that authoritative American publications include him in the top three “best shows of all time”. Or see Jerry Seinfeld at the top of the list of the richest actors next to an impressive sum of almost a billion dollars. And fans of David Lynch can learn that Jerry has been practicing transcendental meditation for 40 years, as he once reported at a thematic event of the famous surrealist.
But in the public consciousness, this cult series in America, unlike any "Friends" did not take root. Although Seinfeld was released 5 years earlier and was an innovative approach, marking a milestone in the development of television. Field shooting, for example, has not become a habit of either Friends or the vast majority of other sitcoms. In addition, the theme of sexual relations between the main characters, unlike the soapy Friends, ends in Seinfeld literally in the first series. This already favorably distinguishes the series against the background of analogues, in which sexual tension is designed after several seasons to stretch the ideological starvation of the writers on "at least as much."
The nine seasons of Seinfeld can generally be very clearly divided into several stages of the development of the conceptual core, along the course of the rotation of which the tactics of constructing episodes smoothly changed, the characters and their living conditions developed, and with them the themes of humor also changed.
The first two seasons are a kind of pen test – we meet characters, friends living in New York. Heroes are still too innocent and friendly, but the main features of humor are defined - it is ironic over social conventions and etiquette, attempts to adapt to the intricacies of which will make anyone neurotic. The third season is transitional, in which the characters enter into confrontations and gain characteristic features, and the plots become more complicated. Pickings become much looser, sexual themes appear in the dialogues. At that time, this was also a novelty, so the piquancy in Seinfeld is very rarely turned vulgar.
But on the fourth season already begins a turning point – the show gains confidence, due to the fact that the writers have found the essence of their creative vision. Then the concept of “show about nothing” was formulated. For a while, Seinfeld becomes a series about itself. Jerry and George write a script about their lives, and in the climax even shoot a pilot edition of it. Viewers of the series see the set, spotlights and a laughing audience – this is the experiment with the “screen in the screen”. Very original and successfully implemented find.
The fifth, sixth and, in part, seventh seasons are the apotheosis of the creators’ creative method. The plot ideas at this stage become more sophisticated, and the humor is much tougher. What was not in these episodes - Russian writers and jokes about Tolstoy, soup Nazi, serial killer ... Seinfeld steals an old woman, George converts to Orthodoxy, saves a whale from death. Elaine "orders" the kidnapping of a dog, or discovers his dummies all over town. Kramer makes a dwarf friend, or mows as an autistic on television, or writes a book about coffee tables, or manages a crew of horses. At this stage, broken limbs, burnt faces, destroyed property, offended disabled people and other attributes of the now boring black, cynical humor begin to appear regularly in the series. But the amazing sense of balance of writers, does not allow the series to slide into obscenity. In addition, the emphasis continues to be on the analysis of social conventions and detailing the characters. Screenwriters really got a hand – everyday trifles become material for a scrupulous analysis of the psychological realities of human perception, the institution of the family and various complexes generated by the industrial information society. Episodic characters are very successfully used. There are countless examples — say, Seinfeld’s girlfriend, an actress, cries after dropping a hot dog, but does not react to her grandmother’s death. Parallels with Woody Allen in the best years cease to look at least a little far-fetched. By the way, to call such a series “show about nothing” can only mean the obvious subtext. The apogee of the seventh season is the murder by negligence by one of the characters of his girlfriend. It was almost too much, but more importantly – another way out of the pattern.
After that, Seinfeld finally matures. The concept of the series in recent seasons is as follows – the principle of synchrony is taken as a basis, creating a feeling of microcosm, the “close world” in which the characters live. In the debut of the series, several leitmotifs are conceived, conducted to a certain point, each separately, where they unexpectedly combine into an original climax. The themes for jokes are again becoming more complex in parallel with the urbanization of the outside world. Jerry, for example, acquires sociopathic and narcissistic traits – the creators ridicule his sensual closeness, inability to maintain long relationships, manic cleanliness. Elaine is also covered in armor and gradually turns into a heartless careerist. Cramer's schizoid hyperactivity and George's aggressive neuroticism blossom violently.
At the same time, of course, the series retains humorous intonation and relaxed ease in building another absurd, but absolutely vital, in its empirical accuracy, situation. Until the very last episode. Objectively weak from season 3-9 can be called, offhand, less than a dozen episodes, and those that are worthy of the title of the best, appear up to the final monologues. A separate mention is the Nolan series from season 9, in which the action goes in the opposite direction in leaps, for several hours or days, and at the peak of the idea and minutes. And also, an absolutely grand final, 40-minute series with biblical references to the terrible judgment. Only really talented people could think of this.
And this is the main secret of Seinfeld. Its phenomenon is extremely characteristic of art as such. Against the background of old approaches, a fundamentally new one appears, setting a trajectory and at the moment determining a trend for imitators, taking for a tracing, gradually degenerating novelty into maveton. The creators of the series were “hungry” to creativity and success, young people subtly noticing the rapid changes taking place in the world. That’s why Seinfeld looks so vivid – its material is real life and all that permanent comic that is formed by a separate layer over an overly complicated social hierarchy, which is so characteristic of “tactical” and “tolerant” modern people. And even the most hypertrophic situations do not look perfect, because they have a psychological and social background. Products like “Friends” do not achieve this effect even by accident.
As for the invariability of the series by the Russian audience, perhaps the fact is that in the 90s, life in our country simply did not allow us to appreciate humor based on the problems of neurotics. Then the success was more massive, using vulgar collective schemes series with an abundance of soap and simple jokes “for their own”, like the notorious “Friends”. It’s just more reliable – TV channels don’t like risk. And then, the moment has already passed and in the era of the Internet, "Seinfeld" simply lost in the mass of new series that have adopted a new, more vulgar and cliched paradigm. For most people, his humor is too difficult to distinguish.
'90s star. Winner of various awards and the most popular comedy series in America, ahead of even my favorite Friends.
Unfortunately, Seinfeld is very little known in Russia, we just never showed it.
By the way, the episode in the Clinic dedicated to the series Friends - when the screenwriter of Friends gets into the clinic, is actually dedicated to Seinfeld. Russian translators decided to replace Seinfeld with the more famous Friends in Russia.
The series revolves around the life of stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld and the trio of his close friends. Actually, that's it. Seinfeld was one of the first sitcoms to break the typical concept of the series at the time.
He has no definite plot, his main characters are neither relatives nor colleagues, but until the very end remain close friends. The series shows the simple everyday life of this four. "The show about nothing" as many times parodied in the series.
And now a little bit about heroes:
Jerry Seinfeld is the main character of the series. He lives in New York and works in the genre of stand-up comedy. Cheerful, intelligent, ironic - Jerry lives without strain and easily relates to both emerging problems and life in general.
George Costanza - George is something. Short, balding, chubby; complexed and insecure loser on the one hand, and cunning, nimble, charming - coming out dry of all the problems that he himself creates, on the other.
Elaine Bennes is Jerry’s friend and ex-girlfriend. Elaine is a funny and principled girl in some matters, which constantly creates problems for her. He and Jerry broke up, but somehow managed to keep the relationship and became close friends.
Kramer is Kramer. His name will be known only by the middle of the series.
Kramer ... not like everyone else. Very different. You can talk about it for a long time, but this is one of those cases when it is better to see once.

It's hard to meet. Why can't we meet? This is what all single people ask themselves when they wake up in the morning. But we're surrounded by people. They're next to us on the bus, on the street. But we can't meet them.
- Why don't they meet us?
Because strangers have a bad reputation.
- A few bad strangers ruined everything for the rest.
Jerry Seinfeld (Jerry Seinfeld) is a stand-up comedian living in New York. This is a carefree, successful guy, probably the most sane of all heroes. He has three close friends he sees almost every day. George Costanza (Jason Alexander), who, despite his specific appearance, constantly makes new acquaintances with women, and these acquaintances usually end in the saddest way. George is a champion in terms of excuses and saving money. Charming (what a smile she has!), emotional Elaine Benes (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is constantly looking for the perfect man. Elaine had an affair with Jerry for a while, but it quickly ended. Nevertheless, they remained close friends. Cramer (Michael Richards) is Jerry’s roommate who has the ability to break into Seinfeld’s apartment at random, unpredictable and extremely dangerous to Jerry’s fridge. If we talk about the plot, then this is a “show about nothing” – in each episode, the characters meet in Jerry’s apartment or in a cafe, go on dates, go to the movies, discuss their novels, just live.
Opinion: One of the best sitcoms that few people know here. It was not shown on TV, there is still no tolerable voiceover, I had to settle for subtitles. I watched it with great pleasure. Jerry Seinfeld is actually a good stand-up comedian, with his performances beginning many series. And if the first seasons of the series accelerates, then from the 4th it is some kind of hurricane. The show was closed at its highest point when the NBC leadership was ready to do anything to keep Seinfeld going. But Jerry decided 9 seasons was enough. And this is good: the heroes do not cheat on themselves until the end. I liked George and Elaine the most, as well as Newman (Jerry's sworn enemy and frantic postman). Jason Alexander is great: he’s such a repulsive character, but he also elicits sympathy. As Elaine laughs and dances, it is necessary to see every self-respecting moviegoer. "Seinfeld" and "Friends" have a lot in common, and these are my two favorite sitcoms now.
I swear I have no idea what women think. I don't see their signals, they're not available to me. Women are so cunning. Everything they do is so subtle. Men don't cheat. We're straight. Women know what men want. Men know what men want. What do we want? We want women. That's the only thing we know for sure. Seriously. How to achieve them – we do not know. The next step is a complete mystery. That's why men honk them out of cars, scream from construction sites. We can't do anything else. The most amazing thing is that we still want women. We see men with women. How do they get them? I have no idea. No less of a mystery are women who read articles like "Where to meet a man?" We're here, we're everywhere, we're honking you out of cars, hey!
What is Seinfeld and why is it so loved in the US? People living outside the American continent often do not understand what the series is so good, but they have not heard about it at all. And in vain, because “Seinfeld” is a series no less popular and beloved than the world-famous “Friends”. However, the series are completely different.
What Seinfeld is interesting about is the idea. “The series about nothing”, as its characters called it, revolves around Jerry Seinfeld – a comedian not only in the plot, but in real life. It was Jerry who was engaged in the script and flavored the series with portions of his excellent stand-up. The series is original in that it does not engage in moralizing and does not provide any drama that almost always pops up even in the most fun and seemingly carefree series. Seinfeld is dedicated to only one thing: its heroes. Thanks to the completely absent drama, the creators of the series focused exclusively on jokes, and nothing more.
Let's talk about heroes:
The main character Jerry Seinfeld (played by Jerry Seinfeld himself) is a cheerful carefree guy, probably the most adequate and sane of the whole group. The action of the series is usually kept within his apartment, where the rest of the characters gather. Sounds familiar? Yes, the great Friends were undoubtedly inspired by this series. Jerry is quite successful, but in his personal life everything is not so smooth: he does not want a serious relationship, often too picky and not devoid of oddities. You can say that his character is the least original, but at the same time it is difficult to feel dislike for him.
George Costanza (played by Jason Alexander) is Jerry’s best friend and, in my opinion, the most interesting and delivering character in the series. George is a man of many talents; in particular, you can highlight his incredible ability to shirk from work, save every cent, shove his problems on others and much more. From this description it is difficult to imagine what can attract such a person, but after watching everything becomes clear - he is real. The series is characterized by the fact that it is devoid of idealization and preoccupations - all its characters, no matter how ridiculous they seem, can exist and walk among us. There could be hundreds of Georges. Of course, it cannot but cause problems and disasters, and it is around him that the funniest gags in the series are created - he is often the main generator of quotes.
Kramer (Michael Richards) is Jerry’s neighbor, who constantly snoops around his apartment, eats his fridge and generally feels at home. Reminds me of anyone? Well, you get it. Kramer’s name is not immediately revealed to us, and I will not spoil this surprise in the review. But I'll tell you right away, you won't be disappointed. Kramer is no less interesting character than George, although at first he often caused irritation among the audience of the series. The character of Michael Richards is more caricatured and eccentric, although he undoubtedly recognizes many of the features of us. Kramer is a chronic slacker. At first, we don’t know where he studied, where he worked, or whether he worked at all. Despite the fact that he is a man of dozens of talents, these talents can not be channeled in the right direction, and most of his time he spends on all sorts of new ideas, ridiculous ventures or just plain nonsense. Who among us didn't want that kind of life? But Kramer is the one who succeeded, even though no one knows how. A rich U.S. unemployment benefit and a tirelessly working head are the key to success. Kramer differs from other characters and behavior: he is more confused, sharp in movements and generally played it comically and caricatured, and it is this lack of seriousness of the actor often annoyed people. However, it is often the epicenter of new ridiculous stories and the source of endless new idioms.
Ellaine Benis (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) is the last of the four main characters. Ellaine is Jerry's ex-girlfriend, whom he dated before the events of the first season. With Ellane, you can begin to give dozens of reasons why this series is unique. As a rule, ex-girlfriends always lead to dramas and quarrels, but there is nothing like that in Seinfeld. Ellaine and Jerry are friends who don’t feel uncomfortable about being together before. Ellaine is a fighting woman, ready to stand up for herself. It is distinguished by purposefulness, meanness, selfishness and egocentricity. The last place I took was not in alphabetical order, but because of my attitude towards her. Ellaine is the only character I haven't been able to get attached to for the entire series. Yes, Ellaine’s antisociality and selfishness make her real, but the complete absence of any positive aspects only makes me dislike her. Whatever she did, she did for herself, often to the detriment of others. Maybe it's made on purpose, maybe it's the problem with me, but Ellaine for me is often quite unfunny and unsympathetic.
Deserve mention and the heroes of the second plan: Newman (played by the notorious Wayne Knight), who can be called a sworn enemy of Jerry, Uncle Leo, Soup Nazi, parents of heroes and many others.
Those who did not like the series often mention unpleasant and selfish characters that do not cause sympathy. Calling it a minus is strange, because the series is built on real archetypes in which we can recognize ourselves. “It’s funny because it’s true!” is an American proverb. The characters in the series are imperfect, full of cockroaches in their heads, focused on themselves and their benefits - like all of us. They are not ugly or bad, they are just ordinary people who are primarily inclined to think about themselves.
As for jokes and the plot, the plot is usually sharpened within one series, and it is difficult to call it a plot - rather just a situation from life. Jokes at first seem simple and even obvious, but as the series grew older and jokes, and by the fifth season, simple gags have evolved into material for catchphrases, whole plots and then and then pop-up references. The quote and catchphrases of the series provided a huge variety - examples include the legendary Yada Yada Yada, Hello...Newman and many others. As often happens, the first seasons go to warm up, and if you did not like the first season – do not leave the series, and look further.
The series is highly recommended for viewing fans of sitcoms, quality non-banal humor, American (and New York) culture, and simply those who like to laugh. The series is not stupid, but jokes are often difficult to understand for those who are not versed in English or know little about the life of America in those years. It is because of the complex humor rating of the series on the KP below the score on IMDB.
Why say and write that the series is beautiful, but for some incredible reasons did not fall in love with the public and did not receive such love of the people as the same “Friends” and others. The series is not devoid of humor, but dear fans of movies and TV series, is indifference towards people normal? I feel like I wasted my time watching the show.
Beginning, yes. Mocking jokes on friends is wonderful (we love it ourselves), the witty stand-up jokes of Seinfeld at the beginning of each series are often really funny! By the end, I’ve come to terms with the fact that the characters don’t develop at all. There were attempts. But! But where did they lead, gentlemen? There is no beautiful union with the heroes, no attachment to them, no love, and most importantly, you cease to feel any compassion for them. The end is disappointment and a feeling of "nothing."
Started for health, ended.
American stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld and his friend Larry David still managed to create a "show about nothing." For 9 seasons, the inhabitants of New York and random counters will suffer from the actions of the main characters who manage to freak out in the most ordinary situations. The main character Jerry Seinfeld is a guy not without oddities, probably, so his environment includes real psychos - three of his friends. Do not limit yourself to the main characters, the whole world of “Seinfeld” consists of a kind of crazy, each of which can be found in life. Especially if you're Larry David.
Starting in the late 80s, the New York Four gained momentum every year: the first seasons were well received by critics, starting with season 4, the series broke into the main popularity ratings and began to win prestigious awards, and the final episode of season 9 was already watched by all of America. Larry David came up with the perfect rule that allowed the series to stand out from all competitors. "No hugs and no hero growth" is a simple limitation that saved the comedy series from sentimentality and strained morality. This is what Seinfeld beats Friends, the most popular sitcom in the world. Jerry and Elaine will never be together, George would rather fake his death than get married, and Kramer is a unique character whose actions are impossible to predict. If you add Jerry’s comedic talent to this and combine it with David’s eccentricity and fantasy, we get an almost perfect product.
"Seinfeld" took second place in the list of the best series in history according to the American Guild of Screenwriters, second only to the critically adored "Sopranos". Nevertheless, one of the most popular and highly appreciated series abroad has not yet received due attention in the post-Soviet space, and most likely will not receive it. Perhaps our TV crews found humor too Americanized or incomprehensible to the viewer. Interestingly, at the very beginning of the show, Jason Alexander was asked if he thought the show would be a success, he confidently replied that no, because the series is made for people like him, and he does not watch TV.
After 9 years of success, Jerry Seinfeld decided to end the series. In this regard, he draws a parallel with the Beatles, who broke up after 9 years of joint creativity at the peak of popularity. Like the Liverpool Four, New York has become something new and unique, changing the prevailing idea of the sitcom. “Seinfeld” has set a high standard, which will not be easy to achieve subsequent comedy series.
10 out of 10
Seinfeld is one of the best comedy series not only of the 90s, but in general during the existence of television. The series is mentioned in most books about television, it is not forgotten in stories about the history of stand-up, situations from the series are constantly quoted in many other sitcoms, including Russian. And at the same time, in Russia, he is very little known. The explanation is simple: it was not broadcast on any major channel. Apparently, because the producers seemed too “smart”, our audience does not look at this, a vivid example of this is the weak ratings of another masterpiece “The Big Bang Theory”.
The plot of the film is simple - stand-up comedian Jerry Seinfeld and friends: former gelfriend Elaine, old friend George and neighbor Kramer get into various funny situations. The sitcom has a magnificent acting ensemble, all the characters have their clearly prescribed characters, getting actors in the role of 100%. There are practically no passing, not interesting series and this is certainly the merit of the outstanding screenwriter Larry David. There is no such widespread “humor below the belt”. And at the same time, it's really funny, sometimes even very funny.
This is a real comedy, which you want to watch many times, and every time you relax, and always up the mood. Intellectual, subtle, but at the same time not clever humor. One word is a masterpiece!
