If you're reading this, you're in trouble, man, but you still have a chance to give up watching this movie, which means your life won't be ruined by the memories of this! Actually, the only reason to watch this movie, and we are talking, of course, about “Remember everything” in 2012 with Colin Farrell, so the only reason to watch this film is: a beautiful picture and the desire to fight over a poorly knit plot (if what was born from the inflamed imagination of the writers, can even be called “the plot”).
Since this is a remake, the average man in the street roughly imagines what the film is about, because many watched the original film with Schwartz, but do not be deceived, friends. Yes, we are talking again about erased and re-recorded memory, and we are talking about a super-duper special agent who, like, became kind and switched from an oppressive and unprincipled transcontinental corporation to “good” guerrillas who are “for freedom”. But there will be no space flights - all events are transferred to Earth. Only England and Australia function from all over the Earth, everything else has suffered in the war for resources and is filled with some deadly gas. At the same time, England and Australia are connected in the plot of the film by a grand tunnel going through the core of the Earth. I just want to say, "Did you see it?" See? Tunnel! Across the Earth's Core! guys, that's just crazy! Obviously, this tunnel was built in circumvention of logic and common sense, bypassing the movement of tectonic plates, current and truth demonic pressure of magma and hellish core temperatures. In addition, the transport moving through the tunnel, travels all the way in 17 minutes! Ie simple calculations will show that it is ~12 km / s - more than the second cosmic speed! In this case, the passengers do not experience overload, they even in the course of the plot were able to get out of the rushing transport and fight there, despite the fact that it should have been a little hot and a little nothing to breathe (sarcasm).
The whole war, in fact, begins when the main villain (Kohagen) decides to “wipe off the face of the earth the Colony (Australia) to build it again and populate it with synthetics” – here, as in the technical part, there is no logic at all, and, as a result, it becomes impossible to understand the motivation of the character. Power? Money? If power, over whom? Synthetics? If the money comes from where? If you're going to pump millions of billions into an army of robots and a new infrastructure to wipe out the Colony. That is, neither power nor money during this adventure the hero will not receive. Why do you think this is a mystery?
A mystery is the existence of a super-duper agent played by Colin Farrell. That is, according to the plot, he had to live for himself and not bother, doing simple work and being content with small things. In this case, the task of his “wife” (police intelligence agent), played by Kate Beckinsale, was to prevent his “activation” (God forbid me to try to explain what it is!). At the same time, Mr. Cohagen has plans for this agent, allegedly, in order to gain the confidence of the guerrillas and give him their headquarters and leader (a certain Matias). It is not clear why it was necessary to erase his memory and wait until he accidentally “activated”, despite the fact that his “wife” is anxiously watching that this did not happen. But this happens and from that moment the intensity of idiocy begins to grow. To begin with, the “wife” with the tenacity of an angry fury and a rabid maniac tries to kill her “husband” despite the order “not to kill”. She pursues him on the ground and in the air, so that he risks death 20 times, at least, and miraculously avoids death. At the same time, it turns out that the “wife” does not even know who exactly is pursuing, and when she finds out it, she is determined to finish what she started. Which he tries to do at any opportunity, even after the death of his superiors! He tries, but he does it so pointlessly and stupidly that he involuntarily grabs his head. With both hands! In general, when watching this film, it often seems that the characters simply do not have brains. They are not guided by common sense and logic, they are guided by naked emotions. For them, in a critical situation, it is normal to find out “who is this woman chasing you?” and “when did you get married?” It is also the norm for them to enter hand-to-hand with an armed enemy, often outnumbered, and to win. Apparently, the armed and overwhelming enemy is thoroughly affected by stormtrooper syndrome, not otherwise. At the same time, “super-professionals” cannot hit point-blank range with a pistol or stab a knife.
We remember a few scenes from the original film, where there was intrigue, tension (for example, the scene with the doctor and pills), here the whole intrigue is shattered in truth by idiotic dialogue. And it seems that they tried to replay this scene, but the tension, except on the changed face of the main character, I did not see.
In general, from such blunders and idiotic scenes, the whole film is made. Clutched and sewn with such rough threads that they look like barbed wire. In the heat of idiocy, the actors somehow do not notice the play, all the tension in the film is sucked out of the finger, because of which when watching you do not sit, clinging to the armrests of the chair, but just laugh, or grab your head. None of the characters are being developed properly, none of the characters are motivated, everything we see on the screen just happens and is the reason to show explosions, races, fights and shooting. This film I could not advise even children, because they may have an erroneous idea of reality, and older people (above 8-10 years) simply will not be able to watch it without laughing.
For the picture and good mood
How and why? Here are two main questions that the filmmakers should be concerned about. Anybody. If that's the "how," then we're probably dealing with a perfectionist like Cameron. If “why,” it can be anyone, but anyone who cares about his reputation and the future of his work. If both questions remain in the shadows, then before us another free-determined incompetent, dreaming of “come, inherit and spoil a good thing” (c).
Len Wiseman and Kurt Wimmer are artisans. Minotaurs, in the language of the Weiner brothers, who just want to eat. Where and with whom doesn't matter. Therefore, a good, clever story by Philip Dick is taken, based on which in 1990 the Dutchman Paul Verhoeven and the star of the action genre Arnold Schwarzenegger made an excellent fantastic action movie “Remember Everything”. It took only 20 years and someone came up with a “great idea” to sleep on this story with new computer technologies. Some people think that if you have a brush and canvas, you are already Leonardo.
... In the future, which, of course, is bleak and depressing, humanity is divided into two camps. In principle, friendly and even communicating directly. The UBF (United British Federation) is an old Europe already plagued by cataclysms. At the other end of the Earth is Australia, which is the Colony, where the air is cleaner and there is more room for habitation. There and there, the transitions are carried out along a giant high-speed branch “metro”, going through the earth’s core. The rest of the territory is polluted by the consequences of a chemical battle and the remnants of the population are forced to multiply and get along, multiplying deep and up.
Sad neurosthenic Doug Quaid routinely works on the creation of synthetic robot cops, habitually loves his wife, but nightly confesses his love to a mysterious madam from a nightmare romantic dream. Quaid thinks that his life is too simple and miserable, but he could be deaf and compose sonatas, or lead the popular resistance, or he could be a deaf man. In general, the worm of doubt brought the employee to a trip to the underground office “Remember everything”, where the Asian brothers instead of forging brands spit brains with fake memories.
There's geese flying. Quaid, it turns out, is not Quaid, his wife is not a wife, and friends are more than dubious personalities. Events are much more global than family disputes. Suddenly “remembered everything” Quaid is a key and a safe at the same time, a pawn and a queen in a complex game in which the stake is the future of the whole planet.
After all, it was immediately clear that the duet Wiseman-Wimmer will sing fake. The first, except as clumsily shitting (by the way, in a similarly technological way) in the series about McClane and having shot his wife Kate Beckinsale a couple of times as a vampire (role-playing games they have such), is not famous. Wimmer has come so far, clearly not the last epic file of his career, in a more thorny way. His interest in fiction manifested itself in Equilibrium, an action film with elements of drama and shallow philosophical overtones, riding on the charisma of Christian Bale and the cute art of gang-fighting. After that, the petals went smaller and larger: “Recruit”, reekingly idiotic, but colorful “Ultraviolet”, where the script was generally needed, like a fish – an umbrella. Then the stupid "Law-Abiding Citizen" and, it seemed, the apogee - the spy action movie "Salt", in which Jolie's international mother plays a Russian spy. As it turns out, Wimmer still has a place to roll.
No matter how twisted, and from comparisons with the tape Verhoeven can not be protected. The question is why having the same plot at the heart, one manages to easily and beautifully captivate the viewer, and the second after half an hour - specifically tire. Yes, Arnie is not good at drama and frown house as Colin Farrell never did (and hardly ever will). But anyone could have these eyebrows at least in the house, even in the carrot, even in the ram to move the horn. And this was believed without any clever slow-mo movements and parkour. The number of digital gadgets in the new “Remember all” exceeds any reasonable limits, but this is a movie, not VDNKh, so what the hell is half the movie to spend on a demonstration of flying-shooting-speaking equipment?
Laying under the cramped alleys and rainy neon flashes of “Blade Runner” can surprise and amaze only those who have not seen Scott’s masterpiece. If the filmmakers didn’t want their film to be seen as a remake, why all those sweet remarks to the original, like a fat aunt at a security check or a prostitute with three boobs?
Well, Farrell, he wasn't supposed to be Schwartz's power. From his dreary face, the film puts even more pressure on the brain. I want to say, ‘Smile, Colin, you’re being filmed.’ It is clear that the director could not but give the role of Beckinsale, so the actress, but his wife (the analogy with the couple Anderson-Jovovich is visible, yes). The question is why they invited Jessica Biel to play Quaid's battle friend. Even if they were repainted for the sake of decency, they turned out very much the same. Jessica was supposed to become a “scapegoat” for the sins of the entire film crew, because it was her public that nominated the prestigious “Golden Raspberry”.
I rarely get nervous about “when will this mess end?” But even then I began to lose patience and the further I went, the more I fidgeted, no longer trying to understand the causes of the global conflict of Wimmer’s characters. This is the case when it was necessary to repeat the same thing, but on a larger scale, than to try to pretend to be “overthrowers of legends”. So came out either borscht, or solyanka, or harcho in half with the ear - it is easier to drain into the sewer than torment the stomach. However, not all are picky in food, although this project I would refuse even one-time lookability.
After watching, you can hardly remember everything – everything was so dynamic and only occasionally interrupted by some explanations. The other question is, is it worth it?
Not to mention the work of designers and special effects. Sometimes there is so much in a separate frame that just eyes run away: to have time to see everything in the background is simply unrealistic (sometimes, by the way, it is abundantly blurred - to reduce the cost). The writers, apparently, were on the lead of the first, well, or again went on strike. A global chemical war? Is it like it's less trivial than nuclear? Elevator through the center of the Earth? Seriously?! United British Federation and Colony-Australia? Invasion of the Colony (which is yours by definition) Well, as the final achievement of the resistance, a lot of people were left without work.
At first, the picture is similar to a fairly proneon and hologrammed Blade Runner (ubiquitous Asians in template cone hats in the rainy season and gramming rooms only formally suitable for habitation). Next, the Robocop factory refers to the Lucasian THX 1138 (here we have found where to determine the formatted saboteur-pro). Diluted and formal references to the thrash original - the aunt with 3 boobs became a pretty Asian, well, about Mars for some reason said. And then very quickly everything jumped (moving in all planes on elevators, hybrid helicopters and cars with an easily disconnected magnetic cushion, guns wrapping rings for directed levitation of the enemy, deeply “tamed” phones, etc.).
The scenes with the first-class bitch Kate Beckinsale (a template image she succeeded in fame) resemble Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and she looks here not only as Desperate, but as Frozen Housewife. The film was directed by her husband, who had previously shot her in the first two Other Worlds (he also had the 4th Die Hard, so the sketches of family life can be reliable) Also complete with her in the film moved Victor (Bill Nighy), but the former immortal was not allowed to live five minutes. Noticeably fainter looks large and toothy Jessica Biel. Colin Farrell isn't surprisingly annoying, but neither is he. Sometimes it seems that his arsenal consists of endless smirks and one touchingly surprised face (m. b. seem = be). And then most of the time we look at an expressionless warrior rather than a lyrical hero. Which is strange, since he was not the first to be a shy agent - ten years ago he was listed in the recruits of Al Pacino (God forbid that he would not become as impenetrable as Tom Cruise).
I was pleased with some moments of the choice of realities. If you don’t get enough, live in a hole and at the same time you have an understanding beautiful wife – something doesn’t add up. Transplantation from place to place, dialogues in the bar and a small clutter under the Beginning (by the way, why it was impossible to shoot a Negro in the foot - cold-bloodedly kill a very recent comrade somehow too harsh) at least somehow dilute the action (senseless and merciless). Honestly, I did not understand how Glavgad thought out everything and foreseen, but if you think about the questions will arise to the shit, so what the hell is the difference.
In general, it is worth watching, but on the big screen and not thinking about what is happening. In this case, it is impressive and passes almost in one breath. Eyes like on Mars will not fall out, but you will not fall asleep.
- I love you. I have found the time, and I love you.
What the film really lacks is romance. And it all started so well: instead of walking by the handle on the Martian red sand, just such a range of feelings. But in fact, I saw only direct copying with elements of adaptation to the current viewer. I am afraid to think about what will happen to the new robocop.
A simple hard worker working in a defense company has the same dream every night: he is chased, he runs, he kills, he is caught. After another such awakening, he suddenly realizes that this monotonous life is not for him. He begins to turn from the thought that in the morning you need to go from home to work, and in the evening from work home, burning through the remains of the evening in a local bar. In search of new sensations, he, on the advice of a friend, goes to the company “Remember everything” for new memories.
Despite the dynamic scenes, the film is too long. It accelerates in the area of half an hour, for which you can safely fall asleep, especially if the viewer is aware of the original film. In the course of the film will have a couple more times to fall into despondency from long, meaningless conversations. For action actors may be suitable, but the melodrama they pull very uncertainly. The highway bust is the main trump card of the film. There is no more powerful and dynamic scene. This isn’t “Fifth Element” or “Back to the Future 2” with their airbag and “I go as I want and wherever I want.” Cool, but that doesn’t save the movie.
Fights look unnatural, polished-mechanically and even, as in the scene with a robot, delusional: the hero with such pleasure is applied to it, as if he were a papier-mache. Well, accordingly, the effect of rubber bodies in this genre has not been canceled, so it is exploited mercilessly here. It is a pity that the raid in the “forbidden zone” occurred crumpled and in the room. Take it outside, and it would have been another shootout, but in the post apocalyptic scenery.
Of the actors, I want to speak only in support of Jessica Biel: the tail goes well for her, and does not interfere with the dynamics. And in general, a girl has grown noticeably since the third Blade. On the subway train, she wanted the hero to kiss her, but he made an impenetrable face and turned away, killing the romance completely. It has nothing to do with it.
Remake, sequel, prequel, quadriquel – it is necessary to emphasize
I really need to remember everything!! We need remakes, sequels and prequels to pull out of the abyss of oblivion all more or less box office films of past years. I gotta make some money shuffling a bag of movies from years ago. You can, in the end, take a hyped name (brand) and make it something completely different.
There is a crisis of ideas in Hollywood. Each new modern blockbuster is sculpted according to the principle of the designer. Just like this. Asians in triangular hats and the eternal rain will take from "Blade Runner razor", Mars and three-breasted mute - from the original "Remember everything", gambling each other husband and wife - from "Mr. and Mrs. Smith", artificial cops make look like stormtroopers from "Star Wars", and so on. Guys, this is a dynamic but second-rate movie! As Bulgakov wrote, sturgeon has only the first freshness.
Comrades behind the director's desk! all this has already happened, albeit in other combinations. And so - damn disposable and illogical, although in places spectacular and fun.
Actors in such films serve only as scenery for action, but for the sake of decency I will say a few words. The forever lost Colin Farrell. Grotesquely bitchy Kate Beckinsale. And a touching, pretty fighting friend of Colin's, who turns out to be Jessica Biel.
Watching 2012’s “Everything to Remember,” it seemed like I was being fooled big and wanted to be happy. With the first point, the creators of the picture everything worked out due to the fact that I watched the film to the end, with the second, alas, no. I think I’ve really been fooled!
To say that the film is second-rate is to keep silent. At times, it seemed that the writers simply turned on the film with Schwarzenegger and, watching the film, rewrote the script, occasionally adding a small number of new events, and completely carved out the landscapes of the red planet, leaving Earth as the main and only location for the reversal of events.
The world of the future looks beautiful. Perhaps back in 1990, Paul Verhoeven would have been happy to add special effects to his film. The camera work is remembered for constant glare, reminiscent of the "Planet Ka-Pex" and an excellent flyby of the camera in the cantor "Remember all" during the fight Doug Quaid with the police. But only on special effects and a well-known cast to make a good film is unlikely to work - there is no soul in it, one production.
I’m ready to accept the notes with the image of Barack Obama, but the fact that dubstep will be the music of the future ... no, life did not prepare me for this. I was not impressed with how Doug gets rid of the bug (which, by the way, was replaced by a mobile phone in the remake). Events develop quickly, the hero of Colin Farrell grasps everything on the fly, which is why I did not really believe in his character. No matter what, Arnie looked more convincing. The result is a misplaced emphasis on the events of the film. Fights and skirmishes are more than enough, and conversations sometimes seem painfully boring and playful, because of which at times it puts you to sleep.
The number of mutants in the film is kept to a minimum. Only a three-breasted girl will be remembered here, who, I think, is present in the film only to pay homage to the original (after all, most viewers only waited for this Mademoiselle to be presented as part of the new digital and makeup abilities).
Good goals on a planetary scale are also absent, and this is another stone in the mountain of cobblestones, piling up in the garden of the filmmakers. Not that the picture is terrible at all and it is impossible to watch it, but I, like the vast majority, as a child, watched and admired the film “Remember everything” and not at all this was expected from the remake. Perhaps the generation that did not see how Schwarzenegger coped with the task of Farrell, the picture will appeal, but certainly not to me.
4 out of 10
"Panibraty, jokes and pampering - some will say." The style of the hat and the opinions, I say. Simple opinion number 69, and now it's "Remember everything"
After watching a movie like an accountable involuntarily catch yourself thinking about the need to check filmmakers before they are going to shoot a remake of a film. In principle, the form of verification is not important - from a simple questionnaire to a large-scale test, which at one time was conducted by a certain Descartes, suspiciously similar to Harrison Ford. But, the more honor and love the film enjoys, the trickier should be questions such as “Who will beat whom – Schwartz or Farel?”, “What is the purpose of the remake, if the hero in fact the memory returns almost immediately?”, and the most important question – “Why?”
And, believe me, the above questions are much more serious than those that torment our protagonist, despite the fact that life and well-being do not depend on them.
The film, which appeared in 2012 before our clear eyes, manages to lose a number of components to its senior namesake. Among such disciplines and the sequence of narrative, and the argumentation of the characters, and even the correspondence to the title and spirit of the author. How can you do that? After all, quite recently there was a conversation about "Dredd", which with honor and dignity fulfilled the main task of the remake - to be better and more thoughtful than the original, and on you - "Remember everything" carefully steps on all rakes, so gracefully bypassed by Urban and comrades.
And in principle, the new version of the film adaptation of Phillip our Dick is not as disgusting as some would like to imagine. The film presents a beautiful visual with its version of the future. And so what if, practically in the same version of our future, we were running alongside the aforementioned Ford? After all, a good atmosphere can be immersed again. And what if there is no dismemberment and blood, as well as charismatic villains? But we have two very beautiful ladies, and quite a modern action. Let a lot of borrowed from the films with Cruise and Smith, but it looks more than worthy.
But without a basis in the form of a good story, this does not work, and all the above advantages are lost in a bunch of minuses, without giving either banal pleasure to the viewer, or as a result of money to the film.
At the start of production, the creators said that there will be no Mars. Not a great loss, in principle. But why did they keep silent that there would be no major intrigue? After all, there is still debate about Arnold’s place in the first film: whether he was an agent, whether he remembered everything, or whether he was lying on the couch in the office for the introduction of memories.
You got it, right? Quaid Farela cannot boast of such ambiguity. He makes signature housebrows, frightened eyes, and asks philosophical questions as deep as a teaspoon. But how else if the viewer was shown the answer in detail before. And it turns out that the expediency of such a question tends to zero, and the actions of the heroes to define stupidity as such.
It seems that the script was rewritten right in the course of filming, and if we watched the work on its first version – everything would be much smoother, and more logical.
As a result, at the moment we already have a couple of expensive adaptations of the work of F. Dick. Only one of them corresponds to the spirit of the original source, raising the question: what is reality in principle? What is our memory, and is what is happening to me real, or is it all a session at Total Recall? The other poses questions to the viewer, the authorship of which can be safely attributed to a lizard from the name of this opinion. Now guess twice which version is in front of us?
The remake of Paul Verhoeven's film is best viewed as a separate, prototype-independent work. Otherwise, there is no comparison. But is it possible to compare Schwarzenegger and Colin Farrell, and Sharon Stone with Kate Beckinsale? In my opinion, no, because their class and level are incomparable. The 1990 film turned out to be a masterpiece in the visual aspect: the fight between Schwarzenegger and Stone, the exploding dome and some other scenes are remembered for a long time.
I really didn’t do without comparisons. In Len Wiseman’s film, everything is much more modest. It's not even about special effects, which in the tape will be superfluous. This film will not leave in memory special scenes, episodes, creative finds. For less than two hours, we'll be watching the clash between a confused Colin Farrell and an enraged Kate Beckinsale. All this will take place in the already familiar interiors of a typical “cyberpunk”.
Just look at the fight between Beckinsale and Farrell. Everything, in fact, is set very spectacularly – the movements of the fighters are accurate and flawless, dynamic and beautiful. Just how good is it? To my taste, it was too mechanical. The same mechanical, artless and turned out to be the film itself.
Philip Dick has a lot of great stories to tell, and I don’t think it would necessarily be a second time in twenty years to film the same story. I think the same movie could be made from almost any of his stories. Just the name “Remember everything” implies comparisons, but can you compare?
He did not write a word about the plot, because in the film special attention is paid to scenes of action. There is no special acting, intrigue or memorable scenes - everything is reduced to the level of a simple August blockbuster. I didn’t see anything special.
Well, respected film critics, and how can we not compare this creation of Len Wiseman with the original picture, where we were pleased with the Martian adventures? What is the meaning of the “no comparison” that I see in every second review? No, my friends, you need to compare, and necessarily, because the new film This is a remake, and the remakes, as we all know, are an update to the old version of the film, not a mockery of it, as happened in this case. Let’s talk about everything in order.
Plot.
It's simple. We see almost the same thing as in the original film, but here transferred all the action on Mother Earth — slightly rebuilt from our time and extremely neglected, in terms of moral foundations. Our hero (Colin Farrell) has to live with a fake wife (Kate Beckinsale), protect his real wife (Jessica Beale), and then regain his memory and heroically fight villains, defending the principles of "good guys".
There's just one problem. If in the original "Remember everything", the main character had to fight for life, that is, for the air on Mars, then what he is fighting against the powerful company now, it is not quite clear. Moreover, the original chicly described why the villains want to kill the main character, but here ... here he is just a valuable frame, who was not killed immediately, but for some reason erased his memory, dooming themselves in the future to everything that happens in the film. In general, the plot is full of stupid decisions and scenario moves, from which it becomes uninteresting to watch, because it seems that everyone in this film first does, and then does again, completely without connecting their main organ - brain.
Characters.
Stopping on "good" and "bad" makes no sense at all. They're just not interesting. Looking at their attempts to squeeze out at least a drop of something worthwhile is quite sad, and when you realize that everything revolves around them, it becomes even more sad. However, there are some who can stay.
The main character performed by Colin Farrell. It is worth paying tribute to Colin, he did get rid of addiction and gradually began to return to the big movie. There are no complaints about him at all, for he played someone he knows how to play - a bit confused, but potentially brave and skillful guy who intuitively goes to victory. However, if you compare it with Arnie, it’s all very bad. But, to compare, as in the case of the plots, the new and the old hero, exactly not necessary - they are completely different ... well, that's all.
The heroines Kate and Jessica turned out to be a balm for the soul, but again not because of their talents, but rather because of their beauty. Women with guns, in tight suits... well, you know what I mean. It's good to watch, it's good to listen. This has always been enough for female secondary fighters.
A small separate line should be mentioned and the character Bukem Woodbine - a friend of the main character. He brought only disappointment, and then the feeling of being useless in the film in general. In the original, a similar character played an important role, but here it looked like the fifth wheel in the cart, and a spare.
Graphics.
This is something I always pay attention to in fantastic films. It's good here, but it's normal. Again, the seemingly old and technically imperfect landscapes of Mars in the original "Remember everything", a head higher than what the new film "Lena Wiseman" gives us. It is understandable, because on Mars in a fantastic action movie to look at least more interesting than on the built-up unprecedented height skyscrapers Earth. The main focus here is on various gadgets of the future, which are also not too impressive. Everything is at the level of “I am a robot” and nothing more.
Bottom line.
"For lack of estate, the count lives in a communal apartment"
We, fans of science fiction, now can only watch such films and hope that soon the genre will revive and give us another galaxy of gorgeous films. So far, it's complicated. We have a good "Oblivion" and ambiguous "Star Trek: Retribution", and on the other side of the boring "After our era" and the usual "Remember everything", which you want to see only once, but then, like me, you will wait for good fantastic fighters.
Today, Hollywood is clearly experiencing a crisis of ideas, so directors are trying to remake old films with modern special effects to make some money. And if with some films it turns out for example - ' The day when the earth stopped', then with some comes out just a disaster, as in this case.
The plot of the film is known to everyone and if you saw the picture of 90, then you will not discover anything new for yourself, this is one of the main disadvantages of the tape for me - why go to the film you have already watched? You could bring new storylines, you could come up with something new, ideally, you could just take an idea and build a completely different story around it, but there's nothing there. . .
Due to what then was going to leave the Director? – special effects there are sea, ocean, I would say that even too much, every centimeter of film teeming with robots, gadgets, aircraft, flying cars, gloomy skyscrapers to the sky and many others, all and do not remember. There are no claims to visualization, everything is perfectly neatly done, computer graphics are almost invisible. But everything is so gloomy and dark that the eye has nothing to catch, here you will not recline enthusiastically on the back of the chair with pleasure watching the landscape, as we say in ' Oblivion' no picture of the eyes does not please and does not give absolutely any joy, and after 20 minutes after getting used to it, it generally begins to strain your eyes, when you try to peer into the darkness with a trembling camera to see ' rembo receptions ' the main character.
The cast at first glance pleases Kate Beckinsale, Colin Farel, Jessica Biel, but to play them here in fact absolutely no time, the whole film not for a second they do not stop running, jumping, shooting, fighting so to see here the play of actors with all desire will not work for the whole film there is only a couple of dialogues longer than 30 seconds. The picture is very overloaded, overloaded with gloomy, action, unnecessary elements and in the absence of any clear script and intrigue, this makes it extremely difficult to view, inspected it with great difficulty for two days.
I wrote a review of this film once. It's the kind of thing that KinoPoisk didn't let her in. That was right after watching the movie. I guess I was very impressed, I couldn't contain my emotions, and I put everything on paper.
Well, I'll try again, more objectively share your opinion on the film.
My impressions are far from positive. This story is about the company "Remember All", and it is the future as it is portrayed perfectly fit in 1990. Arnold Schwarzenegger fit perfectly into this story. But not now. A lot has changed since then, but Len Wiseman doesn't think so. He simply copied the world of the future from what we saw in the 90th, and probably forgot that sitting in the kitchen at a table in 2012 and looking out the window of his apartment, the viewer will find it difficult to believe what is shown to us in the modern “Remember All”. It is hard to believe in a future that is not so far away. The film itself was made somberly, and did not cause me any emotions when watching. Fantasy should be something you believe in. I don’t believe this one.
The next disappointment was the script. There was a feeling that it was just finished in the process of filming. The main engine of the film was an element that I call “false intrigue.” This is the easiest and cheapest way to make a movie interesting. At first, half of the film was told one story, and then they took it, and at one point they changed everything, inventing new stories for the same characters. I don't know what audience this is designed for, but the idea is that we should then jump out of bed or the seat in the movie theater, and vomit popcorn clutching at the heart with shouts of "Oh my God, what an unexpected turn of events, what an intrigue." Of course, “false intrigue” is not always a dirty element of cinema. If it is well done, it can create a masterpiece. For example, the Island of the Damned. But not a remake of "Remember All"
I can’t say anything about acting, because if it was, it was very well hidden. The biggest disappointment is the special effects. That’s the kind of movie you expect the most.
Of course you can watch this movie. There are several reasons for this:
One: To try to make sure that I am wrong, and this review is a complete hit.
Two: If you’re a science fiction fan, or Colin Farrela, or Kate Beckinsale, then you can watch All of It, too, but I assure you, by the end of the movie you’ll be bored.

Modern Hollywood, not knowing where else to get ideas for his assembly line, takes into circulation almost everything that has not yet reached his hands, up to the classic action films of the 80s, 90s. But instead of competently approaching the rethinking of the original source and shooting at least on a level with the original remake, modern Hollywood takes only their basis and makes a completely different movie.
So in the case of the classic fantastic action movie by Paul Verhoeven, even history happened. Len Wiseman took only the basic elements of that film, and the name of the main character and made a completely empty spectacular futuristic action movie. The militant, where the main intrigue with the main character, who he really is, dispels himself in the same place where he started. And then for two hours there is a standard game of catch-up, with the use of firearms and hand-to-hand combat. The creators reduced almost all the main intrigue with the main character to zero in favor of spectacle and action, but even here they do not try to bring any ingenuity, instead they only change one location for another. Even when it comes time to explain to the viewer who really was the main character, the writers only repeat what is already put in the slogan of the film. The incompetence of the writers and beats from all sides throughout the film.
The only best place of the film is the design of a futuristic world, what, in fact, should only create an atmosphere for the development of the plot is much more interesting than the plot itself. Multi-level concrete settlements of the colony, flying cars, robot policemen and sewn into the palm of the phone – all this was so worked out by artists and designers and recreated on the site to the smallest detail that it is impossible to take your eyes off the screen.
Of the actors, Kate Beckinsale stands out brighter than the rest, playing the role of the main character’s wife and being the director’s wife. Colin Farrell, who does not have impressive muscles and charisma of the militant hero, could not surprise him. But surprised a small cameo Ethan Hawk as a hologram in one of the episodes.
Remember everything" - rethinking the classics of Paul Verhoeven resulted in an empty standard futuristic high-tech action movie for once.
To my surprise, the remake came out worthy. I expected that I would spit, but in fact – quite a decent film with a masterpiece visual component, very diverse and even creative, a couple of times, action.
The plot does not try to repeat the original film verbatim, and this is clearly a plus for him. And in general, despite the fact that in general the plot is not the most interesting, some plot moves made me wonder. This is not a claim to serious originality, but already something.
Douglas Quaid decides to implant non-existent memories because he is unhappy with his life. Add to this a typical conflict about people living “on the surface” and on the outskirts of society and get a typical representative of cyberpunk.
It’s nice that the remake does not try to repeat the original. For example, Quaid won't visit Mars. True, there were scenes that the original repeated, and they were not the most successful. The corporation "Remember Everything" looks a little unimpressive. And the episode where Quaid is being persuaded that he's asleep didn't seem the most stressful, well, maybe it's just that I've seen it before. The original was brighter. But I really liked the action. It is bright, fascinating and, oddly enough, very much. I’m used to the fact that there’s usually not a lot of action in big movies now (for example, it’s worth looking at Amazing Spider Man), and Remember Everything is almost completely stuffed with it. Maximum five minutes for respite. The development of the story is also not forgotten. In general, the raft-twists are quite expected, but, for example, I really liked one moment, although it was not quite a twist. I’ve been waiting for a movie that’s full of these things. I was also very pleased with the elevator scene. It looked great, it was intense.
Actors can not be particularly praised, but there is nothing to blame. But it is impossible not to note just brilliant work with the visual part of the film. Looks like 250 million. Beautiful special effects, excellent design, working out the little things. And in general, this style of visualization has not been used in cinema for a long time. The soundtrack is also at a level, very decent.
Result: The movie was good. Worth seeing. Len Wiseman has already proved himself to be not the worst director, thanks to Live Free or Die Hard, here he did not go forward, but rather moved to the side. A film with a couple of interesting plot twists, great action, visual data and soundtrack. It is not boring to watch, but everything is too usual and predictable. From this, a strong layer of secondaryness is formed, which does not allow to give the film a rating higher than “not bad”.
Honestly, I will be brief, I do not see the point of writing and reflecting even half my strength. The remake of Wiseman is, excuse me, another puffy-puffy-puffy-bumpy-shining kin. Tasteless, idealess, full of copypaste, stupid American attraction. At the same time, I have nothing against attractions, they are sometimes necessary, but Chinese fakes are known to be harmful and not only to our health. And the new TotalRecoll is a Chinese fake of the magnificent fantastic action movie Paul Verhoeven of the 1990 sample.
It’s not even about choosing the main characters. For all my love for Arnie, Farrell is not the last Hollywood actor. But here he's an extra and it's not his costume at all. Maybe Verhoeven would turn him into Agent Quaid, but Wiseman. If I were a producer, I wouldn't let this man near directing a F.K. Dick piece.
I think there’s one more thing in this chapito. It's a pretty well embodied street and magnetic cushion car race somewhere in the middle of the movie. Everything else is designed for an inexperienced viewer, where everything is calculated without effort, and the characters behave as if they all their lives wanted to star in the first Matrix. This is why a movie is like a computer toy rather than a movie.
And the worst thing about this remake is that the creators showed themselves to be complete impotents in terms of their own interpretation, without saying anything of their own. The atmosphere of the future was diligently borrowed from the cult Blade RunnerScott, the general style was drawn from Special OpinionSpielberg, the squads of fighters painfully resemble clones from the new Lucasovo saga, and individual scenes are slicked from Clon attacks, flying police vehicles are designed well, but again slamzan from the quadrology
I spent the last 15-20 minutes on rewinding. A couple of points - behind places not weak CGI-effects. Forget the rest and review the original.
The film is not as bad as the reviews written about it (including professionals). Today it is already “yesterday’s news”, so we can talk about the plot directly: in fact, this film has nothing to do with the Verkhovna Rada original (and thank God, by the way). If in the old film everything that happened was “reality”, then in the new, everything after the injection is a beautiful dream of Farrell’s character. If you take this into account, then the “dumb action” will noticeably get smarter, the characters will acquire shades and we will see much more meaning in what is happening than in the fantasy of saving Mars. Wiseman’s existential constructions are beautiful and witty (not in the sense of the Comedy Club, of course), a lot of quotes and reminiscences, and all this is not at all boringly served. The main character’s interpretation of himself and his surroundings is a fascinating psychoanalytic essay. Unfortunately, the discussion of this film by even very authoritative critics has not gone beyond primitive comparative analysis. Oh, sorry. Wiseman's pity in the first place. And who was he shooting this for? I was not lucky to see reviews, which at least raised the question of what really happened to the main character of the film.

It so happened that in just a few years Hollywood brought tons of film remakes to the heads of viewers. Different. From innovative productions to frankly clichéd crafts. It seemed that this was done only for one reason – to remind the person sitting in the hall of the truly inexhaustible fund of the “dream factory”. However, it is not surprising that numerous film cynics around the world immediately began to talk about the “crisis of ideas” of the same “factory”. And whoever is right in this case, one thing is absolutely obvious: the rebooted and modernized classics in the form of ersatz blockbusters, although it looks expensive and super-spectacle, does not withstand repeated views in contrast to the dusty originals. And the case of the tape Lena Wiseman is the most vivid confirmation of this.
To Wiseman’s credit, despite the small number of films he shot, he is one of the few in modern Hollywood who boasts an original memorable visual style, formed thanks to the dilogy “Another World” (the other parts were not shot by Wiseman). This was useful to him on the set of the fourth “Die Hard”, it also helped him to upgrade the masterpiece of Paul Verhoeven. Why in part? Yes, because the cold, gloomy colors with which the director draws looked perfect in another adaptation of the literary heritage of Philip K. Dick, namely in the film Steven Spielberg's Special Opinion, which Total Recall 2012 suspiciously looks like. Especially reinforces this feeling of participation in both films Colin Farrell. By the way, casting misses in Wiseman's films are already, in some ways, a familiar thing. In the fourth "Hard" the main failure, I remember, was "Timothy Oliphant", here "in his place" only the wife of the director, as always adorable "Kate Beckinsale". Both Farrell and Jessica Beale and Brian Cranston look like “accidental guests at this holiday of life.” Much more appropriate in the main role would look the same Ethan Hawk , appearing here in a microscopic role, the truth is so incomprehensible that it is not surprising that this role was eventually cut from the rolling version.
Wiseman and the writers try very hard to flood the picture with drive, unexpected plot twists and turns, and at the same time funny references to the film of 1990. For example, an attentive viewer will easily see in the remake a lot of scenes-citations, and sometimes ironically played classic episodes (" Passport Control). The masters of special effects literally flooded the film with all sorts of futuristic elements (just a mobile phone built into the palm of your hand is worth it!), but at the same time, the 2012 version looks much more mundane and simpler than the 1990 version. Transferring the action from Mars to Earth, the authors of the remake lost almost the main component of the film. Still, the viewer is much more interesting to watch the alien adventures of the hero than his journey through the earth’s core and further disassemblies in the entourage of post-apocalyptic landscapes. The remake mixed everything: robots, geopolitics and even Jason Bourne. And the characters Sharon Stone and Michael Ironside from the original film and completely merged into one. Trying to make an interesting spectacle out of a rather confused and at the same time schematic scenario, Uyazman is inferior to Verhoeven in everything. After all, the crazy Dutchman knew what he wanted after taking on such a complex project. And so he called for the main role of Schwarzenegger, and therefore entrusted the music Gerry Goldsmith, and therefore wrote out the wizard Rob Bottin to create visual effects. In a word, endowed the future picture with all the necessary ingredients. Len Wiseman was just shooting another summer blockbuster. Noisy, spectacular, but nothing more.
After watching this remake of Paul Verhoeven’s great old film Remember Everything, I came to the conclusion that it was created for those who did not watch the above film. Otherwise, why copy characters and dialogue so much that there is nowhere else to go.
That's right (for the remake) - the idea is good, as is F. K. Dick's story "We'll remember everything."
Of the advantages of the film, I will highlight the drive, the technology of the future, beautiful actresses (I would fight for Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel), car racing a la “Fifth Element”. I am glad that in the city of the future there was a place for Russian signs, credit cards with Barack Obama, and the expression thrown by a boy from the street “robokhren” is a masterpiece!
At the same time, the atmosphere of a fantastic action movie, which was in the old film, is somehow emasculated here. It seems Len Wiseman hasn't quite switched from Another World. Too technological. There was not enough imagination at the end.
I can't imagine what would make me revisit this movie, but I can't.

In short: a lot of action, monotonous locations and little meaning.
The original was more logical in the plot, I will continue to compare with the original:
1. First of all, it was only towards the end that I realized that Mars was not to be expected. The remake threw out Mars, all the action on Earth.
2. A lot of action, too much action. But the action is monotonous, so those who love only him will be bored. I would say the action is at the expense of the logic of the plot. The following inconsistencies have bothered me personally:
GG's wife says she's been assigned to him for, like, 6 weeks, doesn't know who he really is, but the whole movie is his former boss's right-hand man and is chasing him. Logically, it should be somewhere in the lower echelon of the hierarchy, and it should not be the right hand of the boss. Otherwise, she should have known GG to her face, rather than hearing about it just by rumor. In the original, another man chases GG, and his wife appears there only in episodes.
* When he ' colleague ' tried to convince that all this is an illusion and persuaded to shoot his newfound girlfriend, GG somehow cunningly and not understandable for me determined that a colleague lies on the basis of tears released friend. If GG's girlfriend is a figment of his imagination, why can't she let down a tear? In the original, the persuasive man started sweating, and since he agreed that he was not a figment of the imagination of GG and he would have nothing from a shot in the imagination of GG, it was clear that he was lying.
* In the scene at the airport, where GG with a galographic head. I didn’t know where GG was trying to go. Originally Mars. Here, he's supposed to get into the original person's apartment. Looks like a different city, but it was picked up by an ex-girlfriend and they ended up in the right place thanks to the car. If you can get there by car, why the airport? Or did he take advantage of something else after the car accident? That is, the plot is crumpled, just decided to insert a scene from the original, but there is an action.
3. As another review put it, the locations of the Colony and the Empire are the same: gray urban areas. How life in the colony is not revealed at all.
4. In the remake, villains do not kill or almost kill civilians of the Empire. In the original, they were somehow tougher and calmer shooting at the crowd. In the remake, even spoke about democracy and rights. Even though he said it, he got a bullet in the neck. Political correctness.
5. The remake has new technical features, such as a mobile phone in the palm of your hand or video cameras flying around the corners and allowing you to make a picture of the terrain. But in the remake there are no chips from the original, such as an android - a taxi driver, a traitor - a mutant with a hand, a mutant in the stomach, etc. In general, there are no mutants in the remake, so as not to scare the viewer.
6. In the remake, I personally do not see a single memorable scene. The following scenes from the original in the remake is not: a scene where 'bad' the original GG together with the boss on the video pushes the current GG his views (Schwarzeneger is charismatic as always). The scene of air supply, the scene of lack of air in the hall and broken suits of the main characters, there is no red planet. Even the three-tie aunt appeared in the remake, but for some reason in the Empire and not in the colony.
7. There's no Schwarzenegger in the remake. Farrell, of course, not a bad actor, but the type does not match, he does not pull on the cool hero of the action movie of the 90s.
8. In the remake of course more spectacular special effects. But there are no memorable scenes as in the original.
9. Something else, but I forgot.
Conclusion: if the remake was Schwarzeneger, and in the original Farrell, then thanks to the pulling charisma of Schwarzeneger, I would say that the films are 50 to 50. And so, the original I have already reviewed a couple of times, but the remake - from the category looked and forgot.
After the release of the film “Remember All” we decided to meet and discuss our impressions of the new film adaptation through the prism of the 1990 film, directed by Paul Verhoeven and Arnold Schwarzenegger in the title role.
Greetings, Boris! So, finally, you went to “Remember everything”, your opinion about this film.
Boris: Hey! In general, it is colorful, atmospheric, it is good that it is not completely copied from the old one, which has its own ideas.
A: Given that the first film was made 22 years ago, it was not difficult not to copy. Technology has come a long way and there is a place to go. In general, if you do not compare the films, but take the new “Remember All” as an independent picture, then it turns out to be a quite strong action movie. That's just his main feature - to play on the nerves of the hero, when he is no longer able to distinguish reality from imagination - not too successful. There was a lack of psychology and drama.
B: And, unfortunately, there is no intrigue either: all the cards are revealed in the first minutes of the film, the viewer, who has seen enough Hollywood films, can easily predict the further development of the plot. However, there remains a beautiful picture, the atmosphere of a distant, but by no means happy future, reminiscent of the style of “Blade Runner of a Razor”, which, by the way, was also shot based on the work of the genius science fiction writer Philip Dick.
Here we go! This picture is great! What struck me most was to show the future so amazingly. Usually in fiction everything is shown in a glimpse, frame, general plan and not often. And here, 90 percent of the film is all phenomenal. I'm delighted! Here's the comparison with "The Runner..." Scott is very appropriate, remember Chinatown? This style is perfectly represented here. Also, the exclusion zone is a hint of the “Inhabited Island” of the Strugatskys. By the way, if you think about how much everything is taken from everywhere, that you can otherwise interpret the title of the film “Remember all the stories”, how to guess the melody.
B: Perhaps the director intended that. References to the original film are pleasing: a woman with triple breasts, a fat lady at the airport at customs, very reminiscent of the one under which Schwarzenegger's hero was disguised. Even despite a number of purely Hollywood stamps, the film is quite different from other novelties of cinema.
A: I will add - fight and action - a lot! Without end, the heroes run from the pursuers. Not leaving a moment of rest for the respite and the viewer. But for all this colorful 6-straight dynamism it is interesting to observe - a lot of pleasant film finds.
B: Interest in the picture is supported by a well-chosen cast: Colin Farrell, Kate Beckinsale - a beautiful change from the old generation. Special thanks to Brian Cranston, known for the series “Breaking Bad”, he masterfully managed to get used to the image of the villain. According to tradition, the largest number of explosions left the audience for dessert – for the final.
A: In my opinion, Kate played habitually - the image is familiar to her (Wangelsing, Another World). Only here she seasoned him with an obsession. The hero of Arnold, as I remember, was just a man with muscles, who decided to relax, treat himself to a dissolute brunette. And Farrell is a person who feels trapped in the world, in the monotony of being, trying to break out of this vicious circle. So I think that the hero came out more voluminous.
B: The most interesting thing is that compared to the original film, the remake has a philosophical meaning "it doesn't matter if you were a villain or a criminal in the past, what matters is who you are now." And she makes the film not just a stupid action movie about the future, but really makes you think about this topic, leaving the cinema.
A: However, the film is just one time. I'm not likely to review it. But I had the pleasure.
B: I agree, it will be hard to watch it several times. But his role - to entertain the viewer, he performed on five. In addition, the number of “snot” is reduced to a minimum, which can not but please.
A: To entertain – I would say that this is the task of cinema in general, as such, for which it was created.
B: There are movies that make you think, and there are movies that just entertain and nothing more. However, there is a philosophy in “Remembering Everything”, however paradoxical it may be.
I agree. Have you noticed how it has become fashionable to “revive” old franchises? I think the thing is that the old films had the spirit, the plot, the same philosophy, which is not enough now. That’s why bringing the classics to life is a great move.
B: In addition, this is a great way to attract the younger generation to the classics, which did not have time to catch the era of videotapes.
A: How did you feel about the 90s movie when you watched it the day before the remake? And then the last time he reviewed it in childhood, when there was still no such technology, and forgot the details.
B: I’m a big fan of movies of that time and I can say that the special effects for that period are quite high quality, and this is even despite the decades that have passed. All in all, the 2012 “Remember Everything” version will allow you to see pictures of the future that will continue to haunt your mind.
Don't compare this movie to the one our beloved Arnie played in. This movie is different, completely different. This movie is a typical blockbuster, of which the film industry generates a lot to attract crowds to the cinema. It is, of course, far from the book (however, there is nothing to be surprised, rarely anyone manages to keep the book atmosphere in the film adaptations). And he did his job: he was approached, watched, praised and praised for the beautiful shootouts, the spirit of the futuristic metropolis and Colin Farrell. And what can I do, I agree with all these advantages.
But the minuses are too striking, and this prevents you from giving the film an eight, calling it a good one and ever reviewing it. The plot is too crumpled, it has a lot of stuff. Yes, I understand, I want to show as many details and intrigues of this world as possible, but do not throw them randomly on the heads of the audience, leave the central direct plot and do not worry. There is no depth, no elaboration, as it was in the version with Schwartz. It is desirable to watch the company, as well as all disposable action films. Six, no more.
Throughout the film you try to predict the plot moves, comparing with the first version of the film from 1990. Most of the techniques were borrowed and mixed in a different order, which looks more interesting than if there was a simple repetition of the plot.
The film is valuable images of the future and is not without original ideas and illustrations. Take, for example, an invisible cell phone sewn under the skin of the hand. Another important thing about the two films of 1990 and 2012 is the opportunity to see in comparison how the idea of the future has changed and how modern technologies, in particular screen surfaces, have influenced.
The picture does not have the same integrity as the first version. It also misses the meaning of resistance and insurgency; it is hard to grasp who fought whom and why. In the first version, everything is clear and clear - there is a colony on Mars, in the same film, what a colony, and where overlooked. In the end, it seems that all the action takes place in two buildings.
As a modern fantastic action movie made well. Expect semantic revelations should not, for depth it is better to turn to the previous screen adaptation. In general, everything was balanced, without breakthroughs, but also without significant failures.
Evaluation for images of the future and the ability to compare two versions of the future with a similar plot.
Fighters, in our time, is the most popular genre in cinema. Fighters about murderers, mercenaries, secret agents are constantly coming out, but there is not enough quality fiction. But many of the action films of the 90s were just fantastic - it is worth remembering Judge Dredd or Remember Everything with Arnold Schwarzenegger. The last picture was very interesting, exciting and high-quality fiction. And recently, they decided to make a remake of this old film – and not just refresh the picture, but in many ways remake it. So it turned out that with the predecessor, the new version has little in common, but has its own style and atmosphere.
The picture takes place in the future. At the end of the twenty-first century, after a global chemical war, there are only two habitable places left on Earth. Thus, two completely different “islands” were formed: one of them is the United British Federation, where politicians rule everything, where all the rich and cream of society are located. And the second place to live is the Colony, where ordinary people who work day in and day out live. But people's lives are not safe, as there is a constant war between the rebels and the government for control of the Colony. One of its residents is the main character named Doug Quaid, who works in a factory to assemble police robots. He has a loving wife, loyal friends, but he is constantly tormented by one nightmare. Doug dreams that he is some special agent who is being hunted, and there is a strange girl.
One day, a colleague tells him about a company called Recall, which is able to implant memories into a person’s brain that he desires. Doug decides to refresh his monotonous life and sort out his nightmares, so he goes there. He asks to be implanted in the memories of a secret agent, but the procedure is not destined to begin, as a group of special forces suddenly burst into the room. The police want to arrest the main character, but suddenly he discovers his hidden fighting skills and kills all the policemen, and upon arriving home he realizes that his own wife is trying to kill him. So the hunt for Doug begins. Who is he really? In this protagonist and have to understand.
The story is really exciting and following the developments is interesting. Moreover, just like in the film of the nineties, there are moments in the film that make you think, are all events really happening or are they just embedded memories? Of course, the picture is very different from the original. For example, as already mentioned, the main character wants to become a secret agent, not to fly to Mars. But here the atmosphere of the future is amazingly created: flying cars, huge skyscrapers in the air, new technologies, robots, weapons - while watching the world around you begin to believe.
But the most important thing for any fighter is action. There is a huge variety of situations: exciting fights, dizzying chases on flying cars, hurricane shootouts and much more. What is the scene of the chase in a huge system of constantly moving elevators! It all looks really exciting and beautiful, as the special effects, design and beauty of the picture do their job. And all this splendor supports excellent music.
Acting at the proper level. It is worth noting only Colin Farrell, who played the main character. His emotions and divination of who he really is look believable. The rest of the actors also played well, but more disclosure of the characters of their characters would not be superfluous.
"Remember All" is a fantastic action movie. It has a very interesting story, a stunningly created world of the future, in which you believe, and the main thing here is an incessant action, from which you do not get bored for a second. Yes, I would like more from the characters, and the story could be more intriguing, but it’s a fantastic action movie, so it’s silly to demand more, because with the action component here everything is fine. If you are looking for a spectacular action movie for the evening, then this picture is a great choice.
8 out of 10
Before watching the film, the mood was skeptical, as well as any remake.
After watching it, I wondered why it was called a bad remake. A completely independent picture, but based on the first film of the same name, and based on the story of Philip Dick “From the depths of memory”, as well as the first picture. Yes, the names of the heroes match. Yes, there are a few curts towards the first tape. In my opinion, this is not a reason to call Wiseman’s film a bad remake.
The film, as in Dick’s story, takes place on Earth after a chemical war. No Mars at all.
The main plot has changed dramatically. Instead of giving oxygen to everyone on Mars for free, this is a very serious issue of implanting democracy in a backward colony. How easily can democracy become totalitarian? As you can see, the topic is very serious. That is why the pathos are too much, but tolerable.
Of course, there are claims to the script. Hero dialogues in particular. They clearly lack humor. But the fact that they raised the topic of implanting democracy in America is worth a lot.
But the special effects are killer. The detailed urban landscape of the cities of the future is very impressive, as are the interiors, military units, and equipment.
Nice stunt stunt. Action scenes do not cause any complaints. Shootings and chases are almost non-stop.
All of this is happening to impressive music.
The heroes themselves have changed. Especially Colin Farrell's hero. He's more human than that. He suffers, doubts himself and others, despairs, makes contradictory decisions. He's more intellectual, more psychological. The two main characters are also more relief than in the first film, they are more polar and charismatic.
But the most important thing is that Paul Verhoeven filmed in the 90s stem stylization under the 60s, when the story was written. For this purpose, Mars was needed, where mutants could compensate for insufficient technical capabilities. And the banter was brilliant. Some people don't even think he is.
Len Wiseman received the necessary technical capabilities and made an extremely serious film. But a bit of a banter would not hurt him.
In the dry residue, there is a very spectacular space action movie, not a masterpiece, but quite worthy of attention.
The movie "Remember All" by Paul Verhoeven was released in 1990. And in my opinion, it was just a Verhoeven-style film, a lot of "fairytale" fiction, blood, violence and light eroticism, and it all went together harmoniously in the film. And the movie dragged you into the action, and you were really wondering what was going to happen in the end, what was the outcome. Therefore, this and other films Paul, not that masterpieces, but very worthy films of their time, which can be reviewed and revised.
Unfortunately, I cannot say that about the modern version, directed by Len Wiseman. The film turned out to be another colorful craft of Hollywood. Which, of course, is very, very disappointing.
Plot. The film takes place in the near future. We are shown the world after the great nuclear disaster, where only two continents are inhabited and they are connected by a newfangled super-powerful “metro” (although it is more of a high-speed train). The main character is an ordinary worker living in a bedbug, suffering from nightmares, and thinking about changing his life. And he decides to go to the strange organization "Remember All" to feel like a real person. But something goes wrong and one reality mixes with another. He's not just a worker, he's a super agent. And friends become enemies, and people who are only seen on TV are friends. And most importantly, is this nightmare that is happening here real or is it just a projection of his subconscious mind?
Script. The weakest part of the film is the script. The writers tried to twist the plot, which they failed. Sometimes the plot is simple and boring, and sometimes just porridge is small. Sadly, little remains of the original story. Mars was replaced by a “dead” radioactive earth, heroes were changed, and history itself was changed. They left the main idea and added some small parts from the early film. It turned out a lot of small with a good picture.
Picture. Perhaps the film’s strength is the visual component. The special effects masters did their best. Good camera work, cheerful fights and chases. That's the plus of the movie, of course. It is worth noting the good experience of the director with action films, “Another World” and “Die Hard 4.0” looked quite good, despite the weak script.
Actors. The cast is pretty good. Great actors such as Bill Nighy and Brian Cranston were seen. Colin Farrell played well. I can’t say that about Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel, they didn’t play very well, but you could see they did.
Result: Weak scenario. Average acting. But good special effects and camera work. A film from the category "one time".
P.S. Comparing it to an early film is pointless. If you liked Verhoeven’s film, then watch the remake only get upset.
Everything you dream about, we will turn into a memory.
So much trouble because of one person?
Don’t underestimate the power of one person.
Len Wiseman managed to create a high-quality remake of the 1990 film of the same name, but only with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the title role. Of course, it was unwise to touch the cult fantastic action movie created by Paul Verhoeven, well, at first I thought so, but Len Wiseman completely coped with his task, the original he certainly did not jump over (no one would do better), but he managed to create an action-packed, dynamic and simply beautiful computer graphics film.
Why I said no one could have done a remake better than the original, I think the answer is very simple. "Remember everything" is a film that many of us know very well, the audience likes it more than not, hence the conclusion that if the film was made on the basis of this idea and in every way coolly modernized, it would still be a completely different movie. I think that this is one of the best films of the iron Arnie. Colin Farrell is a leading actor here, I like it more and more.
He is here, like Len Wiseman was in the crosshairs, because the release of the remake, immediately passes the test from critics and viewers who compare the original with the new version of the film and are looking for something to find fault with, it has always been and will be. Colin Farrell performed the main role wonderfully, in action films he looks very cool, this is his genre. Together with the beauties Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel, Collin looked even cooler in the picture.
I personally, really like when the film plays pretty actresses with a beautiful body, for militants such girls are always a treat. The special effects here are incredibly cool, the city of the future was made by the visual effects team very cool, there was something to see. In short, the remake turned out, the movie is interesting and damn cool. As it turns out, remakes do not always turn out bad.
Before watching this movie, I tried to remember the original with Schwartz - nothing came out - I forgot everything. Therefore, there was no possibility to compare along the way.
The main character is an ordinary technician. But he is constantly tormented by the same very believable dream. To remember the past, and just dig into his brain, he turns to the company “Remember everything”, but there everything went awry: a platoon of troops fly into the building, which the main character “falls” like a real special agent. He does not understand how he has such skills and does not know why he is hunted not only by the government, but even by his own wife. He is confused and wants to find answers to all his questions.
The plot, of course, twisted very famously. Judging by other comments, it was written off from the original, which, of course, is not good, even bad, but for me it was all new. To the middle, it is not clear what kind of confusion is happening on the screen: one thing, then another. Doubts were tormented about the reality of what was happening, I thought it was his brain playing with us in the same company, and the ending was so slippery - the stickers were not really on his hand!? How do you explain it?? Or just a hint of a sequel?
The twisted plot is fueled by excellent graphics. Action scene in the movie in bulk! One fight is replaced by a new chase, then another massacre, then another one that ripples in their eyes. Bravo to the artists!
There are few sensible dialogues, and against the background of a visually colorful picture they fade into the background. The philosophy of the main villain upset me very much - about nothing! A delusion, which for some reason was carried out in such a confusing way, which we will learn at the end.
The actors liked it. Kate Beckinsale was very pleased - she did not regret her husband. Insidious, evil, but charming even in battle. Farrell tried, but he's kind of dry. The villains also lacked charisma and cruelty.
I salute the movie with Schwartz, but this movie is good too! Let's lick the script from the original. Spectacular, fast, exciting fantastic action movie! I had a good time.
To be honest, before I started watching, I had a strong belief that the film would be average. After all, Schwarzenegger, Verhoeven, Stone, everything. I am glad that my fears were not confirmed.
Farrell. I liked it right away. In this role, more appealing to me personally than Iron Arnie.
Bill. I have loved this girl since the time of the massacre. Much sexier than Rachel Ticotin.
Bakinsale. It's hard to compete with bitch Sharon Stone, and she failed.
Besides, of course, special effects. Everything is wonderful with this.
Bottom line: a good, driving and absolutely meaningless movie. And personally, I am very grateful to the creators for the younger and prettier woman with three breasts - one of the brightest memories of my childhood.

From the day of the release of the classic action movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger “Remember everything” it has been already 22 years, but the memory of it is stored, it is not for nothing that I used the word “classic” in this sentence, and maybe it would even be worth saying “cult”, would not hurt.
After 22 years, I decided to remake the film. For me personally, it was an amazing decision, because, as I said above, the film of 1990 is alive in the memory, and then comes out its remake, really it’s strange. In this case, you can not get rid of the parallels, from constant comparisons, and you will have to try very hard so that the film does not lose to its predecessor.
But when I saw the new To remember everything, I understood why the filmmakers could confidently go to the production: the plot was very much redrawn, only the main piles remained in it, and otherwise there were striking changes. Yes, thus, in many ways, the creators limited themselves from making analogies with the original, but completely from this can not get rid of anything.
So I have when watching this film all the time popped up scenes and plot moves of the picture Think of it all in the 1990s. From the very beginning I could not bring myself to believe in Colin Farrell's unlimited abilities, he, in my case, lost to Arnold Schwarzenegger with a crushing score. I can’t say that he was bad, he did something in action scenes, but he didn’t have such bravado as Schwarzenegger.
Elegant and slender Jessica Beale, she is clearly more attractive to me than Rachel Ticotin, maybe that is why I took Bil more favorably, and also because she impressed me more than the heroine Kate Beckinsale. At Jessica it turned out to be the secret lover of the main character, and in addition, a well-trained terrorist, in general, looked Bill impressive.
But I don't say that for Beckinsale. I have heard several times the opinion of those who have seen this film that they liked the unusual role for her. The role is non-standard, I agree, but it is too thin, why in the action scenes Beckinsale looked fragile lady, and not a super soldier. She had much more vivid scenes where she turned into an angry lady, but when she grabbed a gun or went into hand-to-hand combat, I didn’t take her seriously. But, compared to Sharon Stone from the original film, her character occupies a huge part of the plot, and how could it be otherwise if the director of the film is her husband?
In the film Paul Verhoeven there is another interesting part - all the action scenes were staged methodically, as a textbook, but not devoid of individualism. In the picture of Len Wiseman, I saw only large-scale special effects that appear at the right and unnecessary moments, a constant stream of shootings, chases and fights, which made them all merge into one homogeneous mass, where you do not even have to think about anything. Len Wiseman from the very start scored a galloping move and did not dare to calm down the action, which is why a thoughtful presentation of the material did not come out. But "Remember everything" of the 1990th year also had a well-sealed plot basis and this was also emphasized, and in the 2012 film it turned out to be a "popcorn" blockbuster with a bunch of computer bells and whistles, but without thinking. You can come to such a movie as a spectacle, but nothing more. It is a pity, I was waiting for a better intellectual plan of the film.
I do not take away from Wiseman the quality of his film - it has something catchy, spectacular, even sometimes whiplashy, but a huge number of action scenes have led to the fact that the tape seems monotonous, almost every minute you can say: "Now a couple of seconds and will begin again!", and it begins, but only need to know the measure.

I honestly don’t understand the meaning of this film. If it is necessary to remove remakes, it is only on old, at one time failed pictures. “But why make a remake of a film that once became a legend, and which many, like me, are still reviewing?” – this question arose to me long before the release of “Remember all” of the sample of 2012.
The plot of the film is not much different from the original. The main character is still Doug Quait, this time played by Colin Farrell. He has, it would seem, everything you need for happiness: a beautiful wife, seemingly a good job, peace and security. But all this is already Doug so tired that I want a lot of variety. And to get it, the main character turns to the services of the company “Recall” (the name of which in our dubbing for some reason sounds like “Remember everything”), providing false memories for several weeks. But during the introduction of a new memory, an unintentional failure occurs, turning everything upside down.
If you are a fan of the original, comparisons with it will be inevitable. First of all, from all this madness, the creators excluded only one, but irreplaceable detail - Mars. The action of the remake takes place on Earth in the distant future, when humanity has got everything it wanted: flying cars, mechanical robot soldiers, implantable mobile phones in the hand. There are only two inhabited areas on the planet: United British Federation, or OBF, and Colony. Moreover, to get to one of them, you need to make a long way in a special train passing through the core of the Earth. The idea, of course, interesting, but it was not disclosed properly.
In addition, the creators decided to reshoot, or rather, to quote several scenes from Verhoeven’s masterpiece. Remember the legend of the three-breasted prostitute? In this film, she is present, but appears in the frame for just one second. Moreover, in the first film, her appearance was justified - there was a lot of attention paid to chemical mutants on Mars. There is nothing like this here, so the viewer who is not familiar with the original source can wince and say “wow”. But there is some benefit in its appearance, for example, I let a nostalgic tear. They even filmed the scene at customs. But if in the original it went almost to madness, now it looks much more boring and even ridiculous.
The only thing that does not cause any complaints in the film is the design of the world of the future. Someone saw a hint of “Blade Runner”, and I remembered the fantastic thriller “I, Robot”. Everything looks more than beautiful, spectacular and realistic.
In my humble opinion, “Remember All” is not a bad film, but on all fronts losing the masterpiece of 1990. Whether you watch it or not, decide for yourself. Perhaps for the sake of cool special effects you can look, but personally I was constantly yawning throughout the viewing.

The only thing I wanted to remember (and revisit) after this film was the original film 'Remember All' 1990 Verhoeven. And here's what comes to mind. What is this? What kind of degradation? Yes, in the new film, of course, crazy scenes of battles, chases, shootings ... Excellent special effects, scenery... What's the point? Fighting, fighting, why? What did the main characters want? There’s something palely said about taking over the world (of course), but you can’t understand it behind all these effects and fights.
In the old movie, everything is clear. Fighting for equality on Mars, for air for all, revolution in general. Everything's great. The plot does not let go, and not due to the constant fights and shootouts (although they are on the level, at that time, especially), but because of its complexity and interest. At every step there can be a traitor, you can not trust anyone. . .
As for the actors. Personally, I like Kate Beckinsale, Jessica Biel, but God, who came up with them in one movie like this? How ridiculous! Two brunettes! With the same hair! It seems like a small thing, but in the old movie everything was clear: a brunette and a blonde. Everything is clear, and the viewer is not confused. And Colin Farrell... Of course, he's swelled, but what does he care about Schwartz? But that's not even the point. It's just that he doesn't look like a cool spy with his running, insecure eyes.
In general, the film at once, with the old can not be compared, so forgive me fans of this creation and actors.
