At the beginning of the application for a serious movie.
Parents take the mentally unstable son from the hospital before trial. He wants to change, but without the pills, he has an incentive - his wife, he really wants to, but he is very difficult, there are many factors that put him out of balance. Around him, people influence him in different ways, and the father himself is not too normal.
Next on the path of the hero, a girl also appears with mental problems. They have a mutual understanding and then begins to escape from seriousness. The girl practically imposes herself and then she is a crazy, or she understands everything, then she has a purposefulness in which She lures Him. This is melodramatic and less serious.
In the third part, Tiffany makes a scene about understanding football. It's hard. Especially for those who saw the video with Maria Kravets talking about Dzyuba. This camedy club was presented in the film in full seriousness. From that moment on, the film turns into a non-serious fairy tale. It's melodramatic.
Thanks to the localizers, they translated the title so repulsively that I avoided this film for many years. But the moment came and I gave two hours of my life to find out:
1) Lawrence is very even an actress, and not just a star of teenage action films.
2) Chris Tucker is still in the movies.
The story. A guy with an overvalued idea and other mental problems comes home and does a lot of annoying things. Shows himself as selfish and generally unpleasant type. Then the main character meets a girl with a personal tragedy. She says she's not mentally well either. You can't really see that. Monologues of the level "candibober is not an indicator - a woman or a ballerina", do not wait. Just a girl with a tragic story, sometimes harsh. It is Lawrence’s glory that the character turned out to be alive, and not just a function of the protagonist’s love interest.
Of the advantages in the film - cheerful editing and sometimes inventive camera work.
Of the downsides, the actors have nothing to play. This is especially noticeable in the third act, when it seems that the peak of emotions should come, but there are no real events-causes for this. Therefore, tantrums, screams, risk for the sake of risk and other finger sucking.
In one shot of “The Shining”, where Nicholson’s character looks from the side, there is more psychology and emotions.
The only thing for which the film is strongly praised - for popularizing the common joke of psychiatrists "there are no healthy people, there are underexamined." Judging by the reviews here, many are shocked by such revelations.
In some places interesting, a couple of times funny, but mostly boring, so:

After spending eight months in a psychiatric hospital for beating up his wife's lover, former school teacher Pat (Cooper) is bailed out by his parents. But Pat still believes his marriage can be saved, and he hopes to do so with the help of his new friend Tiffany (Lawrence).
Review
After the brilliant, but failed and little understood "Three Kings" released in 1999, David Russell gave up big-budget productions. In 2004, after a five-year hiatus, he made a modest budget indie film “Heartbreakers”, stuffed with famous actors, from Jude Law to Dustin Hoffman, but again past: too strange, confused, sometimes abstruse and simply incomprehensible film almost did not raise money and did not even impress critics. Then Russell took another timeout, this time for six years, and apparently invented the formula for success, because three in a row of his next films – “Fighter”, “My boyfriend is crazy” and “American Hustle” – became box office hits and received a heap of various prestigious awards.
"My Boyfriend is a Psycho," which is based on Matthew Quick's "Silver Ray of Hope," like all Russell's stories, about broken people, often nasty and rude: Pat has a bipolar woman, outbursts of anger and an injunction against approaching her ex, Tiffany has borderline personality disorder: she sits on pills and is promiscuous in sexual relations. But all of them are united by the presence of hope for the future, despite the hopeless prospects and, perhaps, this is what catches the most in Russell’s films.

I want to note that 2012 was very prolific for worthy films, and many films were even awarded the Oscar. What the movie "The Artist" is worth.
'My boyfriend is crazy' is about the tragedy and pain that the main characters had to experience. They met at the wrong time for each other, and it was even more knocked down, but for the same reason, the picture turned out incredibly romantic.
I am ready to forever admire the incredible handsome Bradley Cooper, and here he played, in my opinion, his best role. Not only did he become very popular at the time, he still starred in a very decent movie and played mostly serious roles. But here, as a teacher, he awakened a special charm and courage, besides he met a young, eccentric girl who caused him a storm of emotions.
It is not even worth noting how incredible Jennifer Lawrence is, because everyone will envy her beauty, charisma and talent.
From meeting two people with heartbreaking stories and mental disorders, the episodes blazed with passion and emotion. You will see how natural and sincere both coped with their roles, because playing a person with such diagnoses is very, very difficult. But everything is at the highest level.
This is not a typical romantic story: both are in limbo, both have lost themselves, both do not know how to live their lives. But that's the salt! Be sure to watch if you love emotions, if you are in love and just want to spend an amazing evening!

I want to start the review with a spit in the face of the Russian localizers who gave such a strange title to the film, apparently hoping to gather more viewers who thoughtlessly go to what they think is another fun comedy melodrama, but in fact see “Silver Lining” – unfortunately, an untranslatable metaphor from the English language, meaning that even in negative situations there is a hint of a positive moment. A very good metaphor, because in this slightly unpleasant situation there are positive results: the film got its fame in Russia. It is strange, however, that the novel, on which this film was shot, was translated into Russian quite in the spirit of the original title, but the film decided to translate randomly.
The film begins with the protagonist being in a psychiatric hospital and rehearsing a speech before the imaginary arrival of his beloved, and on the wall there is an inscription: “Excelsior”. This is the second expression that immediately meets the uninitiated viewer, comes from Latin and roughly translates as “perfection”. The need to add foreign language difficulties and write about them is that they are embedded in the philosophy of the new Pat Solitano, the protagonist of this film. Suffering from bipolar disorder and frequent, arbitrary, and uncontrollable mood swings, Pat is forced to take control of his thoughts and emotions in order to follow a path of optimism and perfection that benefits him. Being in a hopeless position - an astute viewer will see - the main character will prove to himself and everyone close to him that he has undergone serious metamorphosis and deservedly embarked on the path of not only a great, but quite a good life. If you ignore the presence of the police and the frequent attacks that threaten to nullify all the latest achievements of Pat.
David Russell, who took the hard chair of director, managed to consolidate the success of the film “The Fighter” and enter the list of the best directors, let’s say, the first half of the past decade, as evidenced not only by my review and a number of won major awards at film festivals, but also by huge box office fees with a fairly low budget. By the way, a funny fact, but the son of the director himself suffers from bipolar disorder, so this work has become places even personal, if not more.
Of course, this film does not and will not be a stunning visual, as in the beautiful “Blade Runner”, or memorable camera work, as in the epochal “Oil”, but almost all films of this category and this genre can hardly boast of merit in these areas, and therefore I do not see any sense to say anything about it. But if you look at the main criteria of melodramas, I can only applaud. I may be overestimating, but I find Bradley Cooper’s acting (also known to a wide audience for Sniper and the Marvel Cinematic Universe) really amazing. I personally, fortunately, do not know the people suffering from his character's diseases, but now I will associate these diseases exclusively with Pat Solitano (what a beautiful Italian name, I want to add) - so convincing and good, but at the same time extremely hard work to portray a mentally ill happy person. I can’t help but mention other star actors who managed to get through the casting, unlike Angelina Jolie and other Hollywood stars of the first magnitude, who were less fortunate. This is, first of all, Jennifer Lawrence, who still whitewashed herself in my eyes after, sorry, annoying The Hunger Games, Robert De Niro, whose final speech I reviewed three times, and, of course, the unsurpassed Chris Tucker. Every time he appeared in the frame, I would start smiling and just enjoy his unique and unique sense of humor.
The musical accompaniment made me want to listen to the whole soundtrack and search for the names of individual songs, which I do very rarely, maybe twice a year. I want to say a special thank you to the one who picked up Pat and Nikki's wedding song. Now it will be played at my wedding.
I almost forgot. This film is really very good humor, so the simpletons, who unknowingly went to the cinema in the distant 2012, also did not lose anything, but rather lengthened life, because humor, as you know, prolongs life.
Summer people are like that. They are more sensual, genuinely sincere, touchy, audaciously screaming in their feelings, in them the soul and sharp flashes of the flames of emotions. If they are lucky enough to be born a woman, they are like hot southern women: to tear the soul of the chosen one into rags and then with touching tenderness and devotion sew them into a new, like a patchwork blanket, but no less strong than before. Such and she in her roles is audacious, incomparably stubborn and Real.
Oh, Jenny - unconventional beauty, piercing eyes, cute femininity in the whole figure, a little overemphasized by the largeness of forms and highness. But very appetizing and especially pleasant in ... some places.
I knew she wouldn't disappoint. It will delight and give a powerful stream of freshness. And I was left with the last step to comprehending her talent - "Winter Bone", for which there was a very first Oscar nomination.
But we're talking about the movie.
- You look good.
- Thank you.
- I'm not flirting with you.
- I didn't even think about it.
A guy with a lot of problems, psychoses, and obsessions (oh yeah, that sounds familiar!) is trying to bring back a past that nobody wants. She is trying to solve the same thing, but quite the opposite. He is selfish, she gives herself to others. Oh, my God, they're different! But they need one thing - to return to life, to love, to change themselves. Only through each other can they do that. Such a traditional, but in one non-trivial trouble - they are crazy. And instead of spending the night on the first night, he "saves" their love for the future.
- Do you think I am more crazy than you?
- Sure. I'm not that crazy.
It’s not clear how they felt about their relationship. That's missed in the movie. I didn’t see the passion in his eyes at the end of the movie. And Tiffany pulled it all out on herself, helped herself and him open up. And to see that in life all people are crazy: parents, friends, relatives, and loved ones. But they're your nuts. Because living people...
“To understand my psychos, you have to do something crazy yourself. Thanks. I love you! I fell in love with you at first sight. I'm sorry I've known this for so long. I was just confused.
I felt two thoughts in the film. The first one: You give everyone crazy!!! Second: Be real, honest, act for others outside the box, do not sympathize with those who are sincere with you!
I hope you enjoyed the movie too...
I’ve been watching this movie since 2013, but it’s only now. To be honest, he captivated me, the film has a deeper meaning than it seems at first glance.
What do we see first? Nice American family: dad, mom, son. Typical suburb, typical American house, friends, American football. But the fact is that the son (Pat) is “special”, he is a psycho, as they say in the people. Once, when he finds his wife with a lover, he has a nervous breakdown, and then a progressive mental disorder and a psychological clinic for 8-9 months.
The action begins at a time when 8-9 months pass and the parents decide to take their son home from the clinic. We observe Pat's obsessive states, he's obsessed with wanting his wife back at all costs. In general, a full bouquet: aggressive behavior, obsessions, thoughts, state. Tablets, tranquilizers, antidepressants ...
Unwittingly, some have probably begun to think what a terrible son, what a punishment for these sweet and caring parents. But as you watch Pat’s parents, you begin to understand why he had a nervous breakdown. Pat's father has a similar disorder to Pat. He is aggressive, screaming-scolding-nervous, obsessed with football, has “little oddities”, if you know what I mean, (packs records of matches on shelves, letters to a pile, TV remotes should lie only there and in the right position), and his son Pat, so this is generally the main “talisman” or “victim”, on which you can blame all your failures and even the defeat of your favorite football team. And also a mom who's too downtrodden and gets hysterical. Oh, yeah, Pat has an older brother, he's a "perfect" parent and an example, not like Pat. Pat is a loser in the eyes of the family. In general, the atmosphere in Pat's house is very tense.
Pat's trying to get better. He reads books, tries to play sports and communicate with people, goes to therapy. He is doing everything in his power to start a new life. But everyone is dragging him down, considering him to be an incapable psychopath.
Pat’s friends also have their own problems, his friend is also experiencing family difficulties, his doctor is also not averse to drinking and fighting, and the girl from the next street – Tiffany, too, has mental disorders, as well as Pat. And it is she who becomes his lifeline, not the “healthy people” who only condemn Pat and brand him as “crazy,” but as crazy as he is. Just because she understands his condition. Minus on minus gives a plus, after all.
What's Pat's fault? That one day life went the wrong way and he had a breakdown? And instead of helping, he was branded "psychic" ... the same "psychic." Those other psychos learned to put on a mask and pretend to be good citizens, nice neighbors and family men. The ending in the film is good, but in fact it is negative. A typical American cottage in the suburbs will again have the same atmosphere as before. The director turned out to be more optimistic, and believes that everything will change. Or the final is not sufficiently disclosed, in principle, the final is somewhat blurred. However, you can not worry about the main character, now Pat will not be alone, he has Tiffany. As they say, find yourself a psychopath like you.

As much as I love this film and every time I watch it with joy, watching this film, it always motivates me, motivates me to be myself and even to be a little different, to be a little crazy inside myself and to be different from others.
Returning to the film, this film is based on the novel by Matthew Quick “Silver Ray of Hope” (2008). Of course, the title "Collection of rays of hope" this film is much better suited, since this title contains the meaning of the film, because the title "My boyfriend is crazy" has a more comedic meaning, and thereby attracts more viewers. The main role was played by Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, and their tandem looked great.
According to the plot, Bradley Cooper plays Patrick, who suffers from a mental disorder, who was cheated on by his wife, and he thereby beat her lover in a fit of anger and ended up in a psychiatric hospital. The very first scene of the film is this scene with Patrick talking about his life. Next comes the fact that he completed his rehabilitation course in a psychiatric clinic and was allowed to return home, where he was waiting for a loving mother and father, and Patrick’s father is played by none other than the legendary Robert De Niro.
Robert De Niro is another actor of this film who really brought a lot of meaning and diversity to the film. He is also a big football fan and is constantly betting. By focusing on football, the director David O. Russell gave an even greater understanding of the father-son connection, because the father wanted his son to spend more time with him, and the father is very superstitious and believes that the son brings good luck. Tandem De Niro and Cooper are very interesting, their dialogues are very interesting to watch, among them there were many comic moments.
Jennifer Lawrence plays a young girl, Tiffany, who is also “not all right with the head”, whose husband died, but she still wears an engagement ring. Patrick and Tiffany meet at the dinner of his friend and from the first minutes of acquaintance between them there is a connection that can not be replaced only by a blind man. Tandem Cooper and Lawrence are another memorable duo against the background of the duo Cooper and De Niro. I will even say that their duet is remembered most of all, since the "two psychos" are our each other. It was even more interesting to watch the scene in the cafe where Tiffany made a cry as crazy.
In general, the film is full of dialogues, very diverse dialogues, dialogues about the meaning of life, about love, about family, comic dialogues and what it is like to be different from others. There are a lot of memorable scenes and moments in the film, I didn’t even expect Bradley Cooper to play this way, which is only worth a scene in his parents’ bedroom:"... I’ll apologize for Ernest Hemingway..., and discussions and fierce arguments and football betting in his house, the moment Tiffany visited Patrick.
No wonder I called the title of my review as ... thank you, I love you. Because love and frank feelings are the main themes of the film and, if there is an opportunity in life, it should not be missed.
David O. Russell made a very interesting unique film with a very good cast, which from the first minutes to the last frame you watch with interest and pleasure. Hope and believe, for there is always a ray of hope.
The usual word, a emotions are already off the scale.
A film in which even the most ordinary word spoken by the main character causes a huge number of different emotions. And they're off the scale. And the other characters of the picture make the same impression with their dialogues. An intense, fantastically lifelike and real dramatic stretch of the lives of just a few people forced to be white ravens among a crowd of men and women so similar to each other. Mental abnormalities are different, and this is a violation of the normal course of life, but what if such a deviation - at least one - helps to understand why this or that person lives? What's he breathing? Why is he doing something? This is what happens to the characters in this story. They try to live normally, but at the same time in their own way. Different scenario. Involving loved ones in situations in which none of them have ever been before.
It's the main character Pat himself. Here he is – as in the palm of his hand – with his quirks, disorders, with “not those views on life”, as many people think. Even his father is unable to understand his son at first. But at the same time, Pat is striking with his immediacy, disagreement with the opinion of the boring system, and throughout the film we see how his feelings struggle in him, how he tries to cope with the terrible obsession, the wave rolling to the throat. Bradley Cooper showed us Pat the dissenter, Pat the highly intelligent, responsible, and towards the end of the film loving.
Jen Lawrence is a well-deserved Oscar. Tiffany is not careless, but very smart in fact, the girl who tries to help Pat calm the cruel fervor, shows him that she needs him as oxygen, because she lives, only they exist.
Chris Tucker -- we used to see him in a comedy role, but here -- he's great. It seems that he also jokes, as usual, but at the same time his disorder is shown from an unusual angle, his craving for home, for his best friend Pat is shown.
Robert De Niro has always been able to show the most sincere feelings on the screen. And I did it in this picture.
The tape is worth watching - it teaches a lot: patience, self-control and love. And not all truth in life is true. Stability is good. But sometimes you want to do something really crazy that will turn everything around on its head – and the world will not be the way we used to see it. We will be able to look at everything from a different angle, and whether we want to remain in a new role for us is up to us. But we will no longer be guided by rose-colored glasses or, as we often think, “the only right opinion.” Sometimes we all need a shake-up. This is what is lacking in monotonous gray everyday life.
The characters of the film make it clear that many things we perceive as something complex, inexplicable. And in reality, these things are as simple as two and two. And Tiffany, Pat and the other characters are proving to us that if we were to be simpler, even if we were a little bit crazy, things would fall into place: we would find a reasonable explanation for everything, we would begin to enjoy the little things — even the sympathy of the neighbor’s girl. The fact that cloudy weather is not an obstacle to plans, but bipolar disorder - for a comfortable life with a loved one.
How subtly lost are the states of people who have lost everything & #39; important & #39; in life. With a complete misunderstanding of landmarks. And in all this, the only thing that gives ' a ray of light' is true love.
The main thing is to realize this and not get confused in this 'present '.
What the main characters did.
How wonderfully shown is the behavior of a girl to a man, with her ease, openness, acceptance and even calculation, which helped him come to love.
And as a hero, Pet transforms from an unbalanced psychotic into a confident, loving, wise man. It is very beautiful, though shown and simple, but completely understandable and profound, like everything real and alive.
In general, I recommend watching!
The film was once viewed, but then for some reason did not pay close attention to it. Well, the movie passed, I forgot. As long as it remains, do not dare to look again yesterday. So there was an epiphany. “My boyfriend is crazy” is pretty damn good. Without feeling 2 hours of timekeeping, an emotional story with unbalanced characters swallowed our sympathy without a trace. Now you can't wipe or wash. There haven't been a lot of great movies lately. It's sad.
In order not to fall into a frankly boring drama about the complexities of human relationships, David O. Russell had to do a good job in writing dialogue, building scenes, and working with the cameraman Masanobu Takayanagi. The previously published “Fighter” just had an exceptional charm of a lively and strong story about family and family values (who thinks that it was in “Furious and Furious”, he is bad). The more pleasant it is to see that Russell did not drop the bar, laying the cheerful dynamics and emotions.
Emotions go off the scale, voices break, pressure jumps, the camera is not able to stand still. Tiffany wants to dance, Pat Jr. wants to run. A father dreams of wealth through betting, and a neighbor friend complains more about his ideal life. There's Mama always on her nerves, and bloody Nicky doesn't make contact by hiding behind the scenes. Life goes on as usual, but so confused and fast that it is not easy to make an easy pit stop in order to catch your breath and reflect. Engine.
So what do you like about "My boyfriend is crazy"? Great acting. Yes, chemistry, physics, biology are all there, whether it's a neighbor's boy with a camera or a big brother. Great dialogue, when those characters don't talk, just to fill the void. This is not a movie about crazy people, but about not making things difficult in life. Life is already one, if you constantly chase soap bubbles, then in the end you will spit with soap. With the smell of sadness.
Taking into account all the advantages of the film, the sweet thought never left my head that the two main characters are blatantly adult slackers in the care of elderly parents. These are not psychopaths who are dangerous to society. They are well settled: they can always refer to illness, money from benefits drip, you can not think about work. Every day you'll have sex in the annex behind the house, eat cereal in the diner, indulge in thought. Nothing.
From almost any film should remain a variety of emotions – the so-called sign of absorption in the film. Absorbed means the movie hooked. But how he hooked, everyone decides for himself. I didn't get hooked at all. You can guess in advance about the ending, it's painful slogan saying "There's a crazy person for every psycho." I just had to wait – when it finally appeared on the screen!
The story of switching from one object (the ex-wife of Pat Mickey) to Tiffany - many consider her a girl with a damaged reputation. One way or another, he started spending too much time with her to start feeling anything. But what happens next? The phenomenon of single-charged “mentally unstable” poles takes place here.
Judging by the behavior of Pat, he is characterized by intemperance, excessive obsession, uncontrollable aggression, about flammable quick temper I generally keep silent, he will not be able to immediately cut off all memories of the former, day and night wanting to resume the game-relationship with her, using Tiffany.
To appreciate the film, I have to at least want to believe the characters that they will have a healthy relationship, that Mickey will stop influencing Pat at all. I couldn't believe it, no matter how much I wanted it. And since this is not fiction, the unreal things here do not surprise me, but upset me. Sorry for the time spent.
This guy is really crazy. At first he says he wants his beloved wife back and doesn't want to mess with a whore. In the end, he says he loves a whore and doesn't need a wife anymore. I’m confused, don’t judge me harshly. Also, the whole family of the guy was woven here to help Tiffany huddle poor psychopath Pat.
He spent eight months in a mental hospital. All this time he was thinking about how he could change to get back his wife, who cheated on him. Pat chose this tactic and thought things would change for the better. No way. Nikki, the psycho's wife, doesn't like him. To understand this, Pat had to fight with his parents and fans, run and dance a lot.
One day, Pat meets an equally deranged Tiffany. They resonate with each other and try to figure out which one is crazier – the guy who believes in miracles, or the girl who gives everything. In general, Tiffany took Pat into circulation, applied all her female tricks and even learned the schedule of the football team (although she admitted that she hates football). What you do not do for the sake of love.
All truths and untruths led us to the fact that Pat finally realized that his wife does not love him, and loves his whore Tiffany. The moral of this fable is that a man should choose the one who loves him, not the one he loves. We were also given hope that not only had Pat changed, but that Tiffany would no longer act like an ancient woman. Happy end. Everybody's happy, everybody's happy. Curtain.
P.S. The film is quality, interesting, funny, hysterical. Overall, a funny movie with good actors, but not outstanding or masterpiece.
It would seem that our distributors did everything so that the Russian audience would not like this film. Incredibly stupid concocted title "My boyfriend is crazy" and terrible dubbing - it's no good for the main drama of 2012. And yes, I made no mistake, the film is beautiful, and David O. Russell was nominated for an Oscar for directing and for the first time for adapting the script.
I haven’t read the book that made this film, but it doesn’t have to be — there’s no question after watching it. Former school teacher, played by Bradley Cooper, after 8 months out of a psychiatric hospital. The reason for this is the divorce from his wife. But he still loves her and really wants to reconcile, while doing very strange things - then throw a book out the window, then put on a garbage bag and do a morning run. At some point he meets in his life no less strange girl, played by Jennifer Lawrence. It completely changes their lives.
Again, David O. Russell had a great cast. Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence were a great tandem on screen. Jen played just incredible, one of her best roles in her career and deserved the first Oscar (I think not the last). Bradley Cooper was limited only to the nomination - still against the master Daniel Day-Lewis to catch was nothing. And then there was Robert De Niro (who was the main psycho in this film!), Jackie Weaver, replenished, but also funny Chris Tucker. Everyone had enough screen time.
So why is this film the main drama of 2012? Because watching and believing what is happening on the screen is very vital.
10 out of 10
P.S. Anyone who likes this movie can watch “Inadequate People.” They look alike.
American director David O. Russell suddenly became a prominent figure in the world cinematic arena. If before 2010 his name was not known to many, then after the release of the magnificent sports drama "Fighter", he became a very famous director. Among other things, Russell has proven himself as a talented screenwriter. This tape is a great confirmation of that. Yes, of course, many may be confused by the name that received the tape in the domestic box office. In the original picture is called "Silver ray of hope". This more accurately reflects the essence of the work. But do not pay much attention to the title, because the film is not beautiful.
The film is based on the novel by the American writer Matthew Quick. This is an amazing symbiosis of human drama, melodrama and tragicomedy. Many initially position this tape as a funny story, created for entertainment. But in fact, there's a very deep exploration of human nature on the screen. A lot of time is devoted to psychological problems. However, instead of a boring exposition, the author chose a more accessible language to the common man and shows the events taking place from a non-standard point of view.
During two hours of screen time, we observe the lives of unusual people. On the one hand, the former teacher Pat, after being in a psychiatric hospital, he returns home and tries to improve his life. However, the burden of the past does not let him go, as a result, Pat sees the world around him in a slightly distorted form, and his behavior is not quite adequate. The family of the hero is also far from perfect, as can be clearly seen in the example of his father. On the other hand, the girl Tiffany, she also suffered from psychological problems, but accepts herself as she is. This is the relationship of such non-standard personalities we have to watch.
The psychological side is the most important in the story. The birth of love occurs against the background of the awareness of the main hero of his inner world. Through the prism of his problems, both personal and family, Pat seeks a place in his new life. This is a sentimental and very heartfelt story, but not sweet. She touches, but she doesn't play emotionally. This correct solution helps to avoid standard cliches and cliches.
Bradley Cooper performed one of the best roles in his career and rightfully deserved an Academy Award, but unfortunately the case was limited to only a nomination. He brilliantly performed his part, giving a complex and ambiguous image. Brilliant disclosure of the inner world of the hero, his emotions and experiences. Jennifer Lawrence is undoubtedly a great actress, and while I don’t think this role is the best of her career, it’s definitely a great performance. As always, Robert De Niro is great. The talent of an outstanding master is not in doubt and he clearly demonstrates this to us. Well, it is worth noting the excellent appearance of Chris Tucker in his usual role.
My boyfriend is a psychopath is a vital, soulful, sentimental and very touching tragicomedic drama. An amazing and non-standard study of human psychology, its internal and family problems. And also a sweet love story that makes a strong impression and gives a rich food for thought. I definitely recommend it.
Silver Linings Playbook is a soulful and subtle film.
A film that has been healing from sad thoughts for 4 years. When you feel lonely, when it seems that the plans went wrong, the dreams were turned away and abandoned in this vast world, when, finally, faith in that silver ray disappears. Sadly, and perhaps fortunately, today is exactly what it is for me.
Every frame of the tape is perfect, nothing superfluous. Every look of Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert de Niro, Jackie Weaver so masterfully conveys the emotions of the main characters. Delight. The musical accompaniment throughout the film absolutely hits the bull’s-eye. The work of the operator is also harmonious.
A film with a moral, without any vulgarities. After watching 'Silver Ray of Hope' people start thinking about how great it is to be a director and create such sensitive works of art. With each new view, you begin to fall in love with this story.
The Silver Linings Playbook is unique in its sincerity.
What can I say, my psycho boyfriend is a great movie. A non-trivial script, impeccable directing, not to mention Miss Lawrence, who rightfully received a statuette for the role of Tiffany. The film is really capable of reaching the audience. Madness, alienation, vulnerability. The authors managed to shoot it funny, charming and not monotonous. There's no need to talk about castes. Of course, the film is naive, and in some places predictable. But he still wants to believe. Because you can't believe it.
You need to work hard and do everything you can. And if you manage and keep positive, you will get from life a ray of hope.
Oscar-winning comedy drama David O. Russell "Silver Linings Playbook" is a story about a man whose marriage is absurdly tragically destroyed and he tries to live with it.
Pat Solitano (Bradley Cooper) spent 8 months in the hospital because he beat his wife's lover Nikki to death. He gets in shape and tries to think positively. One day his mother takes him back home. What will come out of the fact that a guy with a shattered psyche, having experienced a personal disaster, is trying to return to normal life?
The film conquers from the first minutes with its truthfulness and survivability of the main character. He knows his mistakes and wants to be better. He truly believes he can bring Nikki back, that things will fall into place. Yes, he does not want to take pills, disturbs the peace of his parents, but in the film all this is shown with a proper dose of irony. On the one hand, Pat is inadequate, and on the other hand, a person who wants to empathize with him is sick for him throughout the tape. This character turned out to be quite charismatic and memorable. Bradley Cooper played above all praise, he believably portrayed a young man who is ready to change and become better after the tragedy.
Robert De Niro, who by the way played with Bradley Cooper in another interesting film “Darklands”, also successfully portrayed the father of the main character – a superstitious bookmaker, also from a part of mentally unstable. Very funny was the scene of a fight between father and son.
Beauty Jennifer Lawrence from “The Hunger Games” played Tiffany – the girl who lost her husband, because of which she also took medication. This mild madness brought her character together with Pat. Their madness made the film doubly fun and romantic, their interaction, dialogue is the main beauty of the film. From Lawrence and Cooper came, in my opinion, one of the most fascinating movie couples. First of all, the deep inner connection of their heroes and common problems are interesting. At first they don’t get along, but then they start to be friends, and this friendship grows into something more.
The movie turned out to be very interesting, soulful and causes a lot of positive emotions. Sometimes the action heats up, as if the viewer really is in a mental hospital. The plot may be simple, but this is more than compensated by the atmosphere and acting. This is not a movie at once, it will be nice to watch it again.
The film will appeal to a wide range of viewers, the picture does not sag and looks easy. You can watch in the company of friends or with a girl.
Well. I haven’t seen a full-length movie in a long time. I think this year I will be on one list. A list compiled by the Khryanin brothers whose coaching session I had in December. These guys don't give bad advice. Very well done.
A list of 50 films. And the first was "My Boyfriend is a Psycho" with Bradley Cooper. Translated the name, of course, badly. For Silver Lining Playbook is not “My Boyfriend is a Psycho.”
A very extraordinary film. Although it was written that it was a drama + comedy, there is a little humor in it.
The film is about a guy with bipolar personality disorder who wanted to get better.
I will not dwell on the retelling of the plot, I will only say that the plot is quite straightforward and simple. A lot of things were predictable in America. The picture, in general, is sadly deep, but warm, thought-provoking.
I was surprised and delighted by Pat’s desire to change for the sake of his wife, who, in fact, had previously cheated on him. You're a weirdo! And not everyone could agree to this dance. That's how he used to say "true love." Pat read his wife’s favorite books, ran, this desire in acting Cooper, indeed, managed to convey. But also as the film progressed, and according to Pat, it became clear that he and Nikki are different people.
And it was this resemblance to the crazy-sweet Tifanni that became the starting point that gave him the unconscious power to act, to dance, to learn to feel. It is important that people in a pair are similar.
It's one of Bradley's best roles. And Jennifer Lawrence also did a great job with the role of “crazy”. Oh dio! She won Oscar, Golden Globe, Actors Guild Award in 2013 for Best Actress in this film. I was glad to see Robert de Niro as the father of the family with a “light” manic addiction to American football.

You know, there is a movie where it seems that there is nothing special, but there are moments that I want to review and revise. This is exactly what a movie is.
I'm not a big fan of Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper, but they're good, big, cool guys.
History is as old as the world: he was fixated on complexes, she cheated on him, he became even more obsessed. Salvation is one - a new she or in life everything is not so rosy.
You see, in life we do not often find a substitute for the love of all life, in life our fixation lasts a very long time.
Every year falling in love is more difficult and more difficult - so say my friends adults, I think they are right.
The characters of this film Pat and Tiffany were lucky. Yes, they have been through a lot, but to become happy, you must first learn to appreciate this happiness. And the price is always suffering.
A film about broken and lost individuals. Someone seeks salvation in signs, someone in fate, and someone acts. Dismissing or losing a loved one is not the biggest trouble in the world, the main thing is not to lose yourself.
I think if each of us understood that it can be much worse than it is, and appreciated what is, then life would be much easier.
The film is about simple feelings and makes us think about the actions that we commit being not in ourselves.

This is what an American film looks like. Problem situations, broken hearts, crazy characters, but always happy endings. And a romantic aftertaste.
Recklessness, madness, absolute mess are closely intertwined with cozy romance, beauty of lights, loud scandals and gentle letters. It’s a controversial, but American movie. A love story, presented on a wide canvas of family problems, pills, recklessness.
The film is recommended to watch, but not fans of arthouse pseudo-auditivity.
Easy, simple love story with a happy ending, with bright strange characters. The film itself is not an incredible super comedy, in some ways it is a bit boring. It's like combining everyday trifles with a love theme. As a result, it turns out: a pleasant movie without undue pressure on the viewer’s brain, with a beautiful denouement, which, thanks to Russian translators, is obvious from the title.
I have two questions: why the film was called “My boyfriend is crazy” and “what our distributors smoke”.
It's an amazing movie. One of my favorites. And it's called "A Collection of Rays of Hope," not "My Boyfriend is a Psycho." Our distributors gave the film the title of a common banal comedy, potentially depriving it of the right audience. This is a great movie!
Yes, yes, it would seem, at first glance, the synopsis, "Collection of rays of hope" seems melodrama with a happy ending or a stupid comedy. But there is neither one nor the other, or rather all this is, but this is not the main thing. The main thing here is the story of a man who, in fact, broke his life. Because of the crime he committed in a fit of rage and congenital problems, society and even his own parents sometimes see him as insane. And how can he live in this society? Only having found the same as him, and this person was just a girl who seemed to him at first more psychotic than himself.
But it was she who brought him back to life, even though he could not understand it for a long time. It turns out that this film is a drama, but it is a deep life drama, with an admixture of comedy and melodrama. Does my description match the title of the movie? I think you already understand the answer to that question. The film is remarkable in that it does not burden us with one thing, it is multifaceted and this is its beauty. Here you can talk about sex, vulgar jokes below the waist, and deep conversations about life and family. And sometimes all at the same time. This creates a positive atmosphere of the film. Yes, yes, I think the main thing in this film is that it gives a positive attitude, hope, to everyone who has decided to change something, to everyone who mistakenly believes that the problems are only in him, and not in society itself. In the end, it just shows how good life is. Is that the most important thing in life?
I could paint for a long time how well the actors did, how matchless they played, etc. But I think it’s superfluous, I’ll just say that the trio of Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert de Niro just amazingly played and did not cause any doubts, I believed them from beginning to end.
P.S. A special mention is the final scene of the dance. Such a mixture of eroticism, joy and sensuality, I have never seen. Cooper and Lawrence were just incredible at this moment (how sorry Bradley didn’t get the Oscar unlike Jennifer).

I’ve watched movies all my life without paying much attention to their titles and headlines. That is, there are very few films in the world whose titles could scare me away from watching. And never in my life have I regretted, as now, that I did not go to the cinema for this film when it was still at the box office in 2012. And for one simple reason. Name, or rather, the worst localization in the world.
To begin with, I am from Ukraine and I was very pleased to hear Ukrainian actors dubbing in Russian voice acting. But that's not the point. I mean, we had the same name for the movie: My Crazy Man. So, in 2012, I didn’t go to this movie except because of its stupid title. In general, it seems to me that in our countries the film was translated in this way, because they thought that our people would not be interested in the film called:" It’s a collection of Hope Rays, because people are sick of this “boring, depressing, philosophical nonsense.” But let’s talk about the movie, I have something to share with you.
First of all, of course, it's an acting game. I found this movie because of my recent interest in Jennifer Lawrence. I liked her work in Joy ("The Hunger Games) and decided to explore her filmography in more detail. How could I miss that? Winner of SAG, Globe and Oscar... That's the part! I love her! I've never seen that before. Such a character and how she played it. Here 100% all agreed: non-standard appearance of the actress, her unconditional talent, movie gods, and even the voice is perfect, no matter how it sounds. An incredible robot, I haven’t felt this emotional in a long time. The character of Bradley Cooper, by the way, is no less interesting than the character of Jennifer. So straightforward, really crazy, who doesn't fit in with "normal" society. And thanks to these two "scum" we got, perhaps, one of the most incredible love stories in cinema.
I can’t help but mention the music in the film. It's still in my head. Especially the main theme that Denny Elfman created. She glimpses so cool moments in the film: during the different sentimentalities between the main characters, their quarrels, moments of rapprochement... And other songs that are successfully set in different moments of the film. In short, music specifically sets the atmosphere and tone of the narrative.
Continuing the topic of GG and the plot. To be honest, this film, or rather the attitude to it all different, because it depends on the current life (personal) situation of each viewer. It’s a movie where I associate myself with the characters. Many of them recognized themselves and their relatives and friends. And because I'm a non-biased person, it was easy enough for me to understand how GGs perceive the world around them. In general, we have the simplest “love story”, but far away, not with the simplest protagonists. An incredible mixture of two “madnesses”, as a result of which we get a delicious love cocktail, with the aroma of comedy, notes of sociality and a sense of happy aftertaste.
Finally, I want to say this. This is the movie where I felt like a voyeur. It’s the movie that drove me out of depression at the same time. This is the movie where I was always thinking about my personal life and what I wanted to change about it. In the end, this is the Cinema, which, even for a couple of minutes, even in a pessimistic person like me, was able to enlighten a ray of hope.
A film for all time.
The Russian dubbing is merciless, she did not go into details for what reason this film was called “My crazy guy”. This is eternal nagging, please, enough of the bum, this is not fair.
What is the purpose of this film?
Don’t look deeply for meaning, it’s on the surface. Two loneliness find each other under strange circumstances and find common ground. A story about people who are considered crazy. Are other people mentally healthy? No, absolutely everyone is mentally ill. Someone suffers from the infidelity of his wife or the death of his husband. Someone suffers from the bad luck of their favorite football team. The story is simple and predictable.
If the story is simple, then the actors were able to beat everything and make the picture live.
The star cast is delighted, the game is really at the level of “I believe”, but the character of Pat Solitano is not at all like a person who spent 8 months in a hospital, it is not a resort. Tiffany believes in the heroine 100% (not because she is a woman), her behavior reflects her mental illnesses that broke her life.
Are there any jokes?
The comedy part is completely satisfied, there are no stupid jokes that are full of American (and not only) cinema. Some family conflicts can be vital and carry some satire than humor is only a plus.
Is this a good movie?
There are and will be lovers of a simple love story. In my opinion, the film from the category “will be forgotten the next day”, because the story itself does not attract attention to acute social topics, but only takes the tips of the iceberg and goes under water from inefficiency. The motivation of the heroes is clear, but their empty sayings only drag the timekeeping. It is worth watching for the sake of acting and musical accompaniment, which in the end somehow dispels boredom.

It may be a bit pragmatic, but the movie My Boyfriend is a Psycho interested me because Jennifer Lawrence won an Oscar for Best Actress in it (and she was only 22 at the time!). It became interesting: what is it, the Oscar-winning film with an intriguing title? And so, I got to know .
Directed by David O’Russell...
The picture is distinguished by its liveliness, but rather - vitality. Everything in it is simple, familiar, everyday, everything, as in the life of ordinary people. Some of the spectators will definitely recognize themselves or their acquaintances in the heroes.
A simple guy Pat, who came out of a psychiatric hospital and tries to change for his ex-wife, lives with his parents. He is strange, but his family and friends are also no less strange, although they do not notice their shortcomings.
Bradley Cooper did a great job. He managed to convey the eccentricity of Pat associated with psychosis, which the hero is constantly trying to contain.
Jennifer Lawrence fit perfectly into this "household corner". At first glance, her character Tiffany is a simple, rude girl who is not very solemn about her words and deeds. However, as it turned out, Tiffany is a vulnerable, understanding person with a kind heart. She can truly love.
The film proves once again that everyone has their own cockroaches in their head, but we must and we can accept the strangeness of another person if we love them.

Do you know the feeling of not wanting anything? When everything is not black and white, everything becomes nothing. Watching the movie spared me a post-depressive hangover and helped me see myself, my life differently.
This is the best American love movie in my opinion. Only under the guise of anonymity I confess - I have repeatedly put the film on pause, because I could not hold back tears.
I won’t even talk about the brilliant play of Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and other actors – all shades of emotions are so crystal clear, all feelings are so deeply shown.
After watching, I was in a state of shock - it seemed to me that all the events of the film happened to me and for real.
Lyrical comedy, melodrama - these are not the genres that I type in the search engine, wanting to see a new film, and will never go to a lyrical comedy or melodrama in the theater. Usually everything is clear in advance: a man and a woman meet, fall in love, then they are prevented from being together by all sorts of obstacles (mainly their own, obvious to an outside observer, stupidity) and finally - a prerequisite - happy ending! The film “My boyfriend is crazy” is no exception – the plot is exactly the same.
Watching this movie was not boring. What's the reason? I loved the performance of the actors, first of all, of course, Robert De Niro never spoils the furrows. In recent years, he has played eccentric dads. His older Pat is quite a whole character: energetic, gambling, in his own way, loving his family man. He has lived his life and thinks he knows what is best for his son. Failure doesn't stop him. Such a man must be able to break the psyche of a son softer than he is. Jackie Weaver played very well. Such a caring, often silent and naive wife could get along with such a husband for so many years. She is very touching in the role of a mother who is worried about her beloved son and does not know how she could help him. Other characters are played at a high level and create a harmonious ensemble.
With the main characters, it was not so simple. And Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence are very good actors. It's always nice to see them on screen. But I thought Bradley Cooper wasn't quite handsome enough to be a schoolteacher. Or it had to be a benevolent, successful person (which he becomes suddenly at the end of the film, as if by magic) rather than an aggressive, uncontrollable lunatic. If he’s crazy, how does he deal with kids? It requires nerves of iron and patience and infinite goodwill. And if he had been that way before, where did he get his reckless aggressiveness when he beat his wife's lover, rather brutally? And so it did not spread to his wife, she is just a saint to him, and to all the others (even mother and father) – only touch. The behavior of the wife is also strange - cheated on her husband, which brought him to a psychiatric clinic, and does not feel guilty at all, even if she apologized or something. The whole situation seemed strange to me. Jennifer Lawrence seemed to me not like a crazy person or a confused person, on the contrary, a very calculating, sensible girl. If you like a guy, and even if he's crazy, if you need him, you need to act like her. Purposefully moves towards his goal, despite any difficulties, he approaches the task inventively. Well done. And then they say that she is psychotic, not in control. It doesn't fit together. We are shown that people in an instant became opposites to themselves. It doesn't happen. This caused a slight feeling of bewilderment, and in general, the actors, in these circumstances, play well, created a beautiful ensemble.
I read after watching the film that it was based on a book, which may explain inconsistencies in the script, sudden insights of the main characters, the appearance of characters not necessary for the plot. Those who have read the book must have observed the development of characters in dynamics. But again, the movie was interesting to watch. I always want everything to be good, in life it does not always turn out that we have?
In the film caught the simplicity of the narrative. The home atmosphere, the story told in the film, looks clear and charming, as if mom and dad were telling their love story. The characters, like the rest of us, are a little fucked up. Nervous seizures, unreasonable actions, unclear hobbies, traditions and the very way of life. It is so clear and realistic that fiction is shaded.
And Jennifer Lawrence looked adorable in that movie. The atmosphere of mystery and madness is combined with grace and love. It's something. She fights for her love as Scarlett fought in Gone with the Wind, but only in a household way. Love is so limitless that it saves every character in the film.
