Norma Roman (real name of actress Ruth Roman) was born on December 23, 1923 in Lynn, Massachusetts.
She made her film debut in 1943 with Stage Door Canteen. But fame came to her only in 1949 after the film "Champion", where she played the lead female role with Kirk Douglas. After some time, Ruth signed a contract with the studio, and her career was on the ointment. Among her partners were Gary Cooper, Errol Flynn and Richard Barton, and Hitchcock himself invited her to star.
In 1956, Ruth and her three-year-old son found themselves aboard the infamous Andrea Doria when another ship crashed into it. Ruth saved herself and pulled the baby out.
“Play is my life,” Ruth said. My profession can break my heart. In fact, it has happened several times already. But I still love my job.
Ruth Roman died on September 9, 1999 in Laguna Beach, California in her sleep.
