The actor twice became the winner of the national Mexican award “Ariel” for his roles in films
Pearl (1947) and “Shal Soledad” (1952), and in the late forties he appeared in Hollywood and starred in the westerns “The Fugitive” (1947), “Fort Apache” (1948) and “Three Godfathers” (1948) directed by John Ford.
In 1938, the actor married Carmelita Bohr. It was a happy marriage that lasted until the actor’s death. Their son, Pedro Armendaris Jr., followed in his father’s footsteps and played in one of the Bondiana films.

In 1954, Pedro Armendaris starred in Howard Hughes’ The Conqueror. The shooting took place near the nuclear test site and became fatal for half of the crew - doctors diagnosed cancer. This was not avoided by Pedro Armendaris, who after the examination was found to have hip cancer. The last work of the actor was the second film about James Bond.
