Francis Benjamin Johnson was born on June 13, 1918 in Forakra, Oklahoma, USA. In 1941, he was hired to overtake a herd of horses; as it turned out, the filming of the Howard Hawkes film “The Outlaw Man” was nearby. Johnson joined the film crew, worked with horses, performed some stunts. This is how he got acquainted with the film business. In 1947, during the filming of Fort Apache, Johnson saved several people, and the young cowboy was taken by director John Ford. He offered Ben Johnson a contract,
