Alexander Veledinsky was born in 1959 in Nizhny Novgorod. Graduated from the Gorky Polytechnic Institute with a degree in “Electrical Equipment of Ships”. From 1993 to 1995 he studied at the Higher Courses of Scriptwriters and Directors (the workshop of A. Proshkin and V. Priemyov). In 2001, he staged a short feature film "You Yes Me, Yes We Are With You" based on the story of Vyacheslav Pietsukh "Two from the 9th Kilometer Box". The main role in this film was played by Sergei Makovetsky. The film was shown at the 54th Cannes Film Festival as part of the Special Look program. He was also awarded the prize “For the best debut” at the 35th IFF EXPO in New York, the Grand Prix “For the best short film” at the festival “Kinoshok” in Anapa, as well as the prize “Grenade bracelet” at the festival “Literature and cinema” in Gatchina and the prize for the best short film of the festival “Message to humanity” in St. Petersburg.
In 2002 he participated in the creation of the script for the television series “Brigade”. In the same year, Veledinsky acted as a director and screenwriter of the series “Law”. Two years later, he made his first feature-length film “Russian” based on the works of writer Eduard Limonov. The film was recognized as the best feature film at the festival "Window to Europe", and actor Andrei Chadov, who played the main role in it, received the prize as "Best actor of a competitive film" at the film festival "Moscow Premiere". In 2006, at the festival "Kinotavr" the director presented his new picture "Live", which received the prize for best screenplay.
