Donald O'Connor was born on August 28, 1925. His parents were artists of Irish descent. In the family, in addition to Donald, there were seven children, three of whom died in childhood. Donald first appeared in films when he was 12 years old. Noticing the comedic talent of such a young actor, Paramount Pictures involved him both in films with a large budget and famous actors, and in simpler films. Three years later, Donald began acting exclusively in vaudevilles.
In 1943, Donald O'Connor became popular after the film "Mr. Big". In 1949, he starred in a highly successful black and white comedy called Francis. Donald's role in the picture
"Singing in the Rain" brought the actor the Golden Globe Award in the nomination "Best Actor of a Musical and Comedy".
In the 60s, Donald was a frequent guest of various TV shows and even led his own, whose guests were show business stars. Due to alcoholism in the 70s, he almost disappeared from the screens, however, due to the disease, he was able to hold the Oscar ceremony in 1980. In 1997, the actor retired, but still actively participated in public events.
Donald O'Connor has been married twice. His first wife, Gwen Carter, gave birth to his daughter Donna Gwen. The second wife, Gloria Noble, blessed him with two sons - Donald Frederick and Kevin, as well as daughter Alicia.
The actor died on September 27, 2003 of heart failure. His body was cremated and his ashes buried at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Los Angeles, where many stars from the film industry are buried.
