Born in 1960 in Kharkov. In 1982 he graduated from the Kharkiv Art Institute with a degree in theater and cinema. In 1982-1985 he worked at the National Theatre in Kharkiv, the Latvian Theatre of the Baltic Fleet (Liepaja, Latvia), the Kaliningrad Theatre. Since 1985 he has been living and working in Estonia, being one of the leading actors of the Russian Theatre. In 1993 and 1996 he trained professionally in New York.
