When Anatoly graduated from school, he entered the technical school for a lavish turner, and only after graduating from this educational institution he entered the Theater School of the city of Sverdlovsk. After finishing the first year, Kotenev went to the army.
After the service, Anatoly did not return to his school, but left for Moscow. He did not enter the Shchukinsky school, as well as in VGIK. As a result, Anatoly Kotenev entered the Moscow Art Theatre for the course of I.M. Tarkhanov. In 1984, Kotenev graduated from this educational institution. During his training, the actor made his debut in the film “The Unknown Soldier”. After graduating from the Moscow Art Theatre, Kotenev was immediately approved for the main role in the film “Sailor Zheleznyak”, which was released in 1985.
