The group includes songwriter and vocalist Jake Shears (real name Jason Silards), keyboardist and songwriter Babydaddy (Scott Hoffman), soloist Ana Matronic (Ana Lynch), bass guitarist Del Marquis (Derek Gruen), percussionist Paddy Boom (Patrick Secord).
The band formed in 2001 under the name Dead Lesbian and the Fibrillating Scissor Sisters, thus denoting the non-traditional sexual orientation of most of the band members. Initially, the musicians are gay underground stars and successfully perform in New York gay clubs.
In 2003, the debut collection called The Demo Album was released, which became seven times platinum in the UK and the best-selling in 2004. The band decided to shorten the band's name to "Scissor Sisters". In the same year, the public’s attention was drawn to the composition “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd, a dance version of which (from “Scissor Sisters”) is broadcast on MTV. In the spring of 2004, the eponymous album “Scissor Sisters” was released with such songs as “Laura”, “Lovers In The Backseat”, “Better Luck Next Time”. In the autumn of the same year, a collection of remixes “Remixed!” appeared, which became quite popular thanks to the beautiful treatments of favorite songs.
Throughout 2005, the Scissor Sisters team was awarded the prestigious Brit Awards. In 2006, the musicians recorded and released the album Ta-Dah, which with its stunning single "I Don't Feel Like Dancin'", recorded with the participation of master Elton John, conquers the top of the British charts. It also includes songs such as "Paul McCartney", "She's My Man", "Making Ladies" and a remix of the title track "I Don't Feel Like Dancin' (Paper Face Remix)". Later that year, the musicians performed on the same stage as the legendary musicians.
. Over the next five years, the musicians hold a huge number of performances, during which they hone their skills, acquire an army of admirers thanks to the “rattling” cocktail of disco of the 60s, glam rock and psychedelics of the 70s. In 2010, the album Night Work was released, created in a style already recognizable by fans.
