The spy series Alien Face is an adaptation of the novel of the same name writer Eduard Topol.
The intrigue of the TV movie revolves around two different people – General Staff officer Sergei Yuryshev and Russian emigrant dentist Roman Stavinsky. In 1981, Yuryshev, grieving the death of his twelve-year-old son, decided to leave for the United States. To do this, the hero of the series “Alien Face” turns to an American journalist with a proposal to cooperate with the CIA, guaranteeing to give a lot of secret information in case he is sent to the West.
The CIA is interested in such an informant and is developing Operation Alien Face. They find among emigrants from the USSR one, extremely similar to Sergei and dreaming of returning to his homeland. Dentist Roman Stavinsky undergoes plastic surgery to give even more resemblance to Yuryshev, and is introduced to a fictitious "wife" - aspiring actress Virginia Part. Posing as the Williams spouses, they should come to the Soviet Union, where the exchange will take place – Stavinsky will take the place of Yuryshev. However, a carefully planned operation fails.

The series was also aired on the Discovery Channel in the U.S. and Canada during the summer of 2007.
Superstorm is a co-production of BBC Worldwide, Discovery Channel and ProSieben, in association with M6 and NHK. Ailsa Orr and Michael Mosley, who made also Supervolcano, are the executive producers for BBC, while Jack E. Smith is the executive producer for Discovery Channel.
