Leon Trotsky is one of the most sinister figures in the history of twentieth-century Russia. His name is associated with the key acts of the tragedy of the state – the so-called proletarian revolution, the catastrophic Brest-Litovsk peace, the Civil War, the “red terror” and the plunder of the country.
A sensational documentary political detective refutes traditional ideas about what happened in Russia on the eve and shortly after the abdication of Nicholas II, about the leaders and inspirers of the October coup and foreign intervention, about relations within the Bolshevik elite – and about the previously unknown circumstances of Trotsky’s expulsion from the USSR.
The authors, using unique documentary materials and foreign research, for the first time on the screen “uncover” the secret ties of “Red Bonaparte” with the banking international, whose strategic plans served Trotsky. close

Unlocking the Mystery of Life represents a unique programming opportunity for local stations. Its broadcast release coincides with the 50th anniversary more
Unlocking the Mystery of Life represents a unique programming opportunity for local stations. Its broadcast release coincides with the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest scientific breakthroughs in history-James Watson and Francis Crick's discovery that the DNA molecule carries hereditary information in the form of a code that many scientists have likened to computer software or a written language. This discovery (announced on April 25,1953) sparked a scientific revolution. But it also left a fundamental question unanswered. Where did the information in DNA come from? How did the software in the cell arise? Unlocking the Mystery of Life explores these questions through the stories of a growing number of scientists who no longer believe that natural selection or chemistry, alone, can explain life's origin. Instead, they think that the microscopic world of the cell provides evidence of purpose and design in nature. close

Hypotheses about the variants of the universe could not ignore such an important area of knowledge as the structure of the universe. The assumption that the space of our universe is not three-dimensional, but has a much larger number of dimensions, is not only curious, but quite acceptable. After all, the geometry of space is the main aspect of the operation of physical laws in it. The present idea, supplemented by the results of some experiments, is quite interesting and popular even for amateurs.

In his film “Calypso” is looking for Atlantis, the famous explorer of marine nature Jacques-Yves Cousteau lifts the veil over the mystery that worries scientists for more than the first millennium – the mystery of the sunken Atlantis.
While Philippe Cousteau explores the waters of the Bahamas and Azores, where, according to various versions, the sunken continent was located, Jacques Cousteau seeks an answer in the Aegean Sea. He surveys the northern coast of Crete, and then goes to the deserted island of Santorini, trying to connect the ancient legend of Atlantis with the once-major volcanic eruption. close

One of the seven wonders of the ancient world, with which the works of later architects and builders could not compare, is the Great Pyramid near Giz. She is a silent witness to an unknown civilization and the greatest mystery on earth. Expressive in its silence, stunning in its splendor, the Great Pyramid is truly a work of art in stone. Among the current sands of time, the Pyramid stands as the personification of eternity itself. Who were the enlightened mathematicians who planned its proportions, the craftsmen who directed the works, the skilled stonemasons who made blocks of stones? close

There is only one great sculptor of the nineteenth century (Claude Monet called him “the great of the great”) – Auguste Rodin. Only he opened up new possibilities in the art of plastic, expanded its range and enriched the language. He combined boldness, realism of searches, vitality of images, energetic pictorial modeling, fluidity of form, incompleteness of works with dramatic design, striving for philosophical concepts.
The stylistics of Rodin’s later works gave rise to a judgment about him as the founder of impressionism in sculpture. The search for movement, the tendency to the picturesque “blurring” of volumes, the addiction to fragments bring him closer to Claude Monet or Degas, and the pathetic and fundamental “literature” of images brings him closer to Van Gogh. close

The polyglot program. Learn English in 16 Hours! is an intelligent reality show that is an intensive English language course. The teacher was Dmitry Petrov, a person who speaks more than 30 languages, simultaneous interpreter, author of the original methodology of intensive training in various foreign languages.
The essence of "Polyglot." Learn English in 16 hours! – immersion in the language, without rote boring grammar rules and vocabulary. The teacher gives his students (and this is eight people who only vaguely remember the elementary school basics of the language) the minimum material they need to quickly master the language. The main thing in this program is not to learn a foreign language perfectly. The host himself is sure that this will not be enough for a lifetime. The most important thing is to help people start speaking a foreign language. And for this, says Dmitry Petrov, a few days are enough. close

Stretching from the Stone Age to the year 2000, Simon Schama's Complete History of Britain does not pretend to be a definitive chronicle of the turbulent events which buffeted and shaped the British Isles. What Schama does do, however, is tell the story in vivid and gripping narrative terms, free of the fustiness of traditional academe, personalising key historical events by examining the major characters at the centre of them. Not all historians would approve of the history depicted here as shaped principally by the actions of great men and women rather than by more abstract developments, but Schama's way of telling it is a good deal more enthralling as a result.
Schama successfully gives lie to the idea that the history of Britain has been moderate and temperate, passing down the generations as stately as a galleon, taking on board sensible ideas but steering clear of sillier, revolutionary ones. Nonsense. Schama retells British history the way it was--as bloody, convulsive, precarious, hot-blooded and several times within an inch of haring off onto an entirely different course. Schama seems almost to delight in the goriness of history. Themes returned to repeatedly include the wars between the Scots and the Irish and the Catholic/Protestant conflicts--only the Irish question remains unresolved by the new millennium. As Britain becomes a constitutional monarchy, Schama talks less of Kings and Queens but of poets and idea-makers like Orwell. Still, with his pungent, direct manner and against an evocative visual and aural backdrop, Schama makes history seem as though it happened yesterday, the bloodstains not yet dry. close
