He was born on 16 April 1896 in Moscow. Actor, People's Artist of the USSR (1937). In 1909-13 he studied at the theological seminary, in 1914 he entered the physics and mathematics, then the law faculty of Moscow University. In 1915-18 in the 1st Studio of the MHT. In Dobronravov’s art, courageous simplicity was combined with romantic inspiration, sometimes poetic pathos, filigree acting technique. Roles: Vaska Ashes ("At the bottom" by M. Gogol, 1932), Tikhon ("Thunderstorm" Ostrovsky, 1934), Lopahin ("Cherry Orchard" by A. P. Chekhov, 1935). In the 30-40s. played a lot in performances on the works of modern domestic drama: Listrat ("Earth" by N. E. Virta, 1937), Safonov ("Russian people" by K. M. Simonov, 1943) and others The roles of Tsar Fedor ("Tsar Fedor Ioannovich" by A. K. Tolstoy, 1944) and Voynitsky ("Uncle Vanya" Chekhov, 1947) became events in the history of the national theater. From 1920 he acted in films. Among the roles: serf musician Egor Efimov (“Petersburg Night”, 1934), Davydov (“Virgin Raised”, 1940). Dobronravov died on October 27, 1949, while performing his favorite role as Tsar Fedor. He was buried in the Novodevichy cemetery.
