By the mid-1980s, the fabled animation studios of Walt Disney had fallen on hard times. It's the true story of how Disney regained its magic with a staggering output of hits - "Little Mermaid," "Beauty and the Beast ," "Aladdin," "The Lion King," and more - over a 10-year period. close

Pablo Escobar was the richest, most powerful drug kingpin in the world, ruling the Medellin Cartel with an iron fist. Andres Escobar was the biggest soccer star in Colombia. The two were not related, but their fates were inextricably-and fatally-intertwined. Pablo's drug money had turned Andres' national team into South American champions, favored to win the 1994 World Cup in Los Angeles. It was there, in a game against the U.S., that Andres committed one of the most shocking mistakes in soccer history, scoring an "own goal" that eliminated his team from the competition and ultimately cost him his life. The town of Zinkov, where in the 1930-1950s people of different nationalities and confessions lived in peace and harmony, is actually a paradise that was not on the map of the former USSR: mysteriously, it simply “falled out” of the field of view of the totalitarian system. It calmly and naturally coexisted Orthodox Church, Jewish synagogue, church and heritage of Islam - the old Turkish fortress. In Zinkov lives the main character of the picture, Motl-Shotchen, matchmaker “from God”: as a real mediator between people and worlds, he goes from village to village, from house to house, “creating love”, creating harmony of human destinies. Motle believes in life with all his heart and serves it.
But now, the system inevitably breaks into Zinkov, torn from the world, and with it the war. The idyllic life of the town collapsed, and with it the life of Motl, who lost his loved ones. Having lost his world, he leaves both faith and service. But life and love are stronger than war and death: Motla is supported by all those whom he helped, and gradually he comes back to life.
