I've never played tennis, I don't like sports movies, but I'll be a dick if it doesn't make me cry and laugh. Why? Because this drama is not about sports, but about people in sports because sport, like war, simply puts everyone in their places and only the athlete depends on whether he remains a person. The plot may seem simple - former tennis star Nick Irons (Van Patten) retired from professional sports, refusing to go for meanness, drinks and loses his life to bookmaker and gangster usurer Robbins (Sheen). Determined to pass on his "business" son Joel (first on the screen Ben Jorgensen) fond of tennis, he hires Nick, confident that under the guidance of such an educator, the son will change his racket to racket. But Nick not only leads Joel to victory, but also cleanses himself of the dirt that has stuck during this time from the anger of resentment and beer. There is also a love line with Ray Dawn Chong organic without nonsense and showering. Specialists in the analysis of cinematography by bones may find something to complain about, but as a viewer, I put this picture on the shelf next to Arthur Hiller's The Babe. The film is dedicated to the memory of Vitas Gerulytes, a great champion and a great friend. close

Jonathan Ross delves into the world of James Bond and meets with new and former cast members who reveal humorous stories and anecdotes in a series of interviews. All the 5 Bonds at the time are featured, though only Lazenby (reflecting in the usual frank, self criticizing manner), Moore and Brosnan granted an interview. Connery and Dalton are featured through some unused footage from LWT's 30 years of James Bond program. The ever faithful Desmond Llewelyn turns up in character as well as some other less related peeps like Christopher Lee, Paul McCartney and the ultimate playboy: Hugh Hefner -- who all give an interesting perspective on the worlds most famous spy. close

The Witness (Hungarian: A tanú, also known as Without A Trace), is a 1969 Hungarian satire film, directed by Péter Bacsó. The film was created in a tense political climate at a time when talking about the 1950s and the 1956 Revolution was still taboo. Although it was financed and allowed to be made by the communist authorities, it was subsequently banned from release. As a result of its screening in foreign countries, the communist authorities eventually relented and allowed it to be released in Hungary. It was screened at the 1981 Cannes Film Festival in the Un Certain Regard section.[1] A sequel was made in 1994 named "Megint tanú" (English: Witness Again). close

Darkstalkers is an American children's animated TV series produced by Graz Entertainment in the fall of 1995. The cartoon is loosely based on Capcom's fighting game Darkstalkers: The Night Warriors. The show was badly received and run for only one season of 13 episodes.
One of the cartoon's leads is a young boy named Harry Grimoire, an original character who is a descendant of Merlin. Various changes were made to the game characters, most notably Morrigan Aensland became a villain and a descendant of Morgan le Fay. Since the series was not drawn in the same style used to draw the game sprites, the characters look noticeably different than in the source material. close

Forest fires were fought with guts and courage, not chemicals and airplanes. Bill Bell was the toughest ranger in an elite crew of very rugged men. A figure of heroic proportions, he was generally feared and respected by all. It was even rumored that he had at one time killed a sheep farmer, which only fueled his already enormous reputation. The young ranger does everything to remain in the good graces of Bill Bell, the senior ranger he idolizes. Their tentative rapport grows into a friendship through a hilarious and heroic rite of passage in which the younger ranger meets the test-and the woman of his dreams. close

Sergei Prokofiev's symphonic masterpiece, first performed in Russia in 1936, has been lauded not only for the spectacular musical score, but also for the story itself--of a young boy who outwits a wily wolf. George Daugherty brings this timeless tale to modern audiences by seamlessly weaving live-action with animation and music by the RCA Symphony Orchestra. The story opens as a grandfather (Lloyd Bridges) hosts his daughter (Kirstie Alley) and grandson (Ross Malinger from Sleepless in Seattle) during a visit to his country cottage. After lunch, the trio settles in as grandfather recounts "The Story" of Peter's adventures with a bird, cat, and dizzy duck on the outskirts "of a very dark forest." The film morphs into a clever cartoon designed by the legendary Chuck Jones (of Wile E. Coyote fame). The "story within a story" leaps to life while the accompanying musical instruments also emerge as playful personalities. close
