Irene Jacob was born on July 15, 1966 in Geneva, Switzerland. She studied in a drama studio, at the Geneva Conservatory of Music, at the National Drama School. The actress made her debut - and not without success - with a small role in Louis Malle's film Goodbye Children (1987). Fame came to Jacob after receiving the prize of the Cannes Film Festival for the best actress, played by her in the film Krzysztof Keslevski’s Double Life of Veronica (1991), which later starred in the film Three Colors:
