30 years after the genocide-the first in Europe since World War II-survivors in Bosnia and Herzegovina persist in their quest to find their missing loved ones. This film traces the homecoming of Bosnian-American artist Aida Sehovic and her participatory, nomadic monument to the Srebrenica Genocide. With the monument coming to its final resting place after traveling the world for 15 years, those who remain gather at the site of the atrocities to fill thousands of small ceramic coffee cups in memory of the victims. As they collectively mourn, painful questions endure: What does "never again" mean in a world where perpetrators live with impunity? How do art and empathy help fill the void left by immeasurable loss and trauma? close

Year 1977. Punk and new wave rock´n roll has arrived to remote Finland and a bleak small town Oulu where increasingly odd-looking youths began to appear in the street with a message. Their rebellion speaks to Välde (17). Välde dreams of joining a rock band and becoming famous. He wants to get drunk for the first time, and to win the love of Pike, the most beautiful girl in the class. When Pike wins the Miss Blue Jeans contest organised by the country´s leading (and only) pop music magazine Suosikki and takes as her boyfriend the bourgeois Henri Hakala, Välde puts all his eggs in one basket. He abandons his former self and begins purposefully constructing a new persona for himself. But everything doesn’t go as Välde wanted … The film is based on a novel by Kauko Röyhkä, an author and indie rock musician. close

One of the biggest Polish film premieres of 2012 and eagerly anticipated for over a decade, it is the story of the late 90s generation and the three friends behind the music: Magik, Focus and Rahim. The fact-based film directed by Leszek Dawid charts the relentless struggle for success of Paktofonika, against the backdrop of crumbling traditional values in dreary 90s Silesia. The contradictory ideals of hiphop - the rebellious, edgy lyrics against the ‘system’ juxtaposed with the money and fame sought by the artists - are superbly captured in this dark, unforgettable drama. close

"Four Pianos" (Sigur Rós: Fjögur píanó) is a short film from the Valtari Mystery Film Experiment project, organized by the Icelandic group Sigur Rós. The musicians asked twelve directors to videotape everything that draws their imagination as they listen to songs from their new album Valtari, released in 2012.
None of the directors who participated in the experiment knew what the others were shooting, and the musicians themselves did not impose their own ideas of what, in their opinion, their music was saying.
Four Pianos depicts a woman and a man whose existence is dominated by an endless cycle of addiction and desire. close
