This time, the director decided to turn to the ancient predictions of the Mayan people, who claimed that allegedly because of some cataclysm, the world will end in 2012, this is what is told in this film. In particular, it shows the history of a single family: two children, mother, father and stepfather. Well, in general, a nice set and five of them go on a journey to escape on some ark there, and along the way the whole planet is blown to shreds.
The script was pretty stupid. There is no such thing as Mayan prophecy. There is simply a banal displacement of the planets, some of their center, because of which some deadly substances appear in the sun. If in the same "The Day After Tomorrow" the plot was less normal, but here ... Of course, everyone knew in advance what the film was about, but everything could have been more interesting.
Don’t let us get bored in this film only solid special effects. They are, to say the least, top class. That's why I went to the movies. One piece of California is worth it. I sat for five minutes with my mouth open. You just have to see it. But still, my favorite scene in this kind of film, I still did not show, namely, how the wave blows the whole city. There was a scene in The Day After Tomorrow, but there isn’t. Just some mountains in the Himalayas. I wish I could have put it in.
This film was in second place in my expectation this year after Inglourious Basterds, in terms of special effects, it almost completely met all my expectations, but in terms of the script. It didn't work out very well. But it's definitely worth watching. Maybe because I waited so hard for him, I didn’t like him as much as I could, but the fact remains that the event did work out. I hope it doesn’t happen in real life.
