Short comment About the film “The Maltese Falcon”, which marked the beginning of the noir genre, a lot of fairness is said in other reviews, usually positive. In this short review, I just want to explain why connoisseurs of the detective genre should not expect too strong impressions from him. There is a famously twisted plot and dynamics that you wouldn’t expect to see in a 1941 film, but the detective line itself boils down to a quest – a search for some artifact, in this case a statuette of a Maltese falcon. Most of all, this movie reminded me of the comedy with A. Celentano “Grumpy”. There was also a hero with a difficult character, an Intrian woman, a treasure and gangsters. It was funny here, too.
The film is action-packed, but it is not a detective in the style of Conan-Doyle or Agatha Christie.
