So let's have a drink, yo-ho!

Pirate theme has always attracted the attention of people with extraordinary romance and partly fabulous. To shoot a decent film of this genre is not only huge money, but also ideas that will excite the minds of viewers no worse than “Treasure Island” Stevenson (when mentioning this novel, you should not take into account the recently released French film, it is better to recall the cartoon of David Cherkasy). However, even such serious obstacles did not stop Jerry Bruckheimer.

“Pirates of the Caribbean” caused a real boom in their appearance, unlike many blockbusters, they really remembered and, not least, loved the people. This is partly because, by 2003, moviegoers starving for pirate stories needed them like air. However, there is a clear confirmation that this film took not only its novelty - that now it is difficult to find the person who has not seen this picture, probably no longer find someone who would never have heard of it, after all - my review, which I write five years after the first viewing. Of course, this film has its detractors (where else without them), but the army of fans and amateurs is growing every day.

Chasing, fighting, love, mysticism, the sea. These words should fully describe the film about pirates, but, they are too few to give at least some share in the characterization, but, still, it is worthwhile to understand. The chase is large-scale, kept in tension and anticipation of the viewer. Fights are clearly spelled out, skillful and exciting. Love moves a lot in this movie, it makes some people feel sorry, it can tear. Mysticism fascinates everyone. The sea... maybe it’s not such an important part of the film, but as a person who loves this element, I can’t help but remember my desire after watching the film – to go to the waterfront.

And, of course, not less important are the characters of the picture. There is an ordinary hero, which is found in almost all films. That hero is Will Turner. However, the well-established type of pirate presented in the film Barbossa is sincerely pleased. We must not forget two comedic couples - pirates and soldiers of the crown.

I can’t help but highlight the main character, Captain Jack Sparrow. Some moviegoers may disagree with me, but I think it’s not just a new type of pirate, it’s a new type of image. This, it seems to me, is a character from art house, miraculously made its way into the mainstream and painted the mundaneness of popcorn-movie lovers with new emotions. Captain Jack is an eternally drunken pirate, getting out of all his problems with minimal damage to himself, damn charming and incredibly attractive - this is how children and lazy people see him. A man who hides himself behind the mask of bullying and insidiousness, so as not to let strangers into his vulnerable soul, which hardened life... Perhaps, for me, Captain Jack will always be kind, and one of the closest images in the world of cinema for me.

It will be fair to mention first the writers who gave us Shrek and the masterpiece (for me) Disney Aladdin - Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio. I think their approach is quite fresh and somewhat amusing. Their creation feels pirated romance, although, to be honest, the scriptwriters of this picture should be considered the entire set of the film.

Gore Verbinski. I respect this director, he could do a lot, and he will do more. After all, this is the man who managed to make me forget that there are flat jokes in Mouse Hunt, and Call is originally a Japanese film. Even "Synoptic" I can not consider a failure for the director, although there are more disadvantages. He has done more than good with Pirates.

The next person I want to mention is Dariusz Wolski. I admire this cameraman. He knows his job very well. The picture is full of bright contrasts and the play of light shade. And it is a pity that in subsequent parts these moments are not, because the decision is more than successful.

Klaus Badelt. I can say that the music was very suitable for the image, gave the desired effect for the full perception of the picture, but I remember and constantly hear only one melody in my head, or rather its beginning - Fog Bound.

Thank you for the wonderful explosions, the wonderful landscapes (painted somewhere) and the miraculously drawn skeletons. I also want to say “thank you” to costumers (for a good “outfit” of actors) and makeup artists (for working on pirates). It is impossible not to mention the directors of battles, effectively and refined.

Jeffrey Rush. I respect this actor. He captivated me with his performance in The Pen of the Marquis de Sade, a small role in Munich: Retribution, and he was just as wonderful in Pirates. His Barbossa is a pirate of the “old temper” with characteristic “agrh” in speech and blackness in the heart. But still this character leaves me only a good impression.

Orlando Bloom. To be honest, when I was in fifth grade, I even said I loved it. But growing up, the truth was revealed to me. Bloom does not know how to play, yes, he holds a sword in his hands, knows how to fence, age allows him to move quickly, but he did not have facial expressions at the time of filming “Pirates”, it is good that he got a claw, and therefore did not have to think about something special.

Keira Knightley. Well, she's a pretty good actress, and the role she got quite interesting. I think that in this film of the trilogy she coped, although she did not shine with special facial expressions.

Jack Davenport. I like his style of play, the commander in his performance looked good. Jonathan Price. His appearances in the picture are quite minor, but they are still pleasing. I like Kevin McNally, or rather his way of speaking, just listen. I can't forget Zoe Saldana, whose image of a pirate woman is remembered.

Lee Arenberg and McKenzie Crook. It’s fun to watch them play and complement each other. It is my favor with McKenzie Crook.

Finally, I left one of the hardest parts of my review. Johnny Depp. I don’t even know what to say, or rather what to highlight, because I can talk about this aspect of the film if not forever, then for quite a long time. First of all, I can’t imagine an actor who would so brilliantly perform the most difficult, in my opinion, role of the picture. I can't even see the lack of playing for the whole movie. Accurate facial expressions, gestures in which it seems that Captain Jack is in complete prostration, a stretched-drunken manner of speaking, brave notes in his voice, eyes that seem to show the hero through. In my opinion, it is unforgettable and untransmittable.

I sum up all this. I’m not an adventurous person, and usually my opinion runs with the public, but Pirates is one of my favorite movies. I assume that this film will always be understandable and interesting to most people, and everyone will find some advantage in it. Let it be at least a charming view of the Caribbean.

Yes, we have not only heard about Captain Jack Sparrow, but we have seen him with our own eyes in three wonderful films.

And it was with the adventures of the "Black Pearl" that everything began: chases, betrayals, unusual surprises, adventures, curses, love and so on - everything that is inherent in adventure films.

The first part of the great saga does not shine with a huge amount of all the above. There are two memorable scenes for the modern spoiled viewer. But it has charismatic characters that will be remembered by any viewer forever. First of all, Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp. I think the role of a pirate will become like a brand of Depp after a delightful trilogy. But we know that Jony has the power to play any role.
