Terry Rossio was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan, on July 2, 1960. After the birth of the boy, the family moved to Santa Ana, where young Terry graduated from Saddelbeck High School. After school, the future screenwriter entered the State University of California at the Faculty of Arts in Communication, choosing a course with a focus on radio and television. He successfully graduated from the university with a bachelor’s degree. The first script he worked on was written in 1989 for Little Monsters.

The first script he worked on was written in 1989 for Little Monsters. His first film starred such famous actors as Daniel Stern, Fred Savage and Howie Mendel.
Back in his student years, Rossi met Ted Eliot, later they became friends and worked together on almost all films. Their joint works are scenarios for paintings:
Shrek (2001), "Aladdin" (1992), as well as a series of adventure film "Pirates of the Caribbean", the last part of which was released in 2011.
He gained popularity Terry Rossio thanks to the films “Puppeters” (1994), “Road to Eldorado” (2000), “The Legend of Zorro” (2005), “Godzilla” (1998).
