Ivan Attal again made a rather interesting film, which, however, I do not venture to recommend to everyone, although I liked it - this is the film "Brilliant" / Le brio, 2017.
A student and a teacher. The two main characters of the film are student Neila Salah (Camelia Jordana) and university professor Pierre Mazar (Daniel Autoy). Neila graduated from high school and entered the University of Paris at the Faculty of Law, intending to become a lawyer, she is not of French origin, although she is already in the third generation, this is the current reality of French society, but in the film it is not about tolerance. At the first lecture, she was a little late and immediately faced a very negative attitude and behavior of Professor Mazar, whose remarks could be seen openly racist attacks, which drew the attention of many present in the audience. As usual, the video about the incident got on the Internet and the professor was threatened with dismissal, since this was not his first trick. However, his superiors suggested that he rehabilitate himself by preparing this girl for the competition of oratory, which is traditionally held and in which this university has not shown good results for a long time. He taught rhetoric. At first everything was very difficult, the girl was not particularly eager to study with him, but then it went, and she successfully began to study with him and pass all the stages of the competition, reaching the very final, which broke down due to the fact that one classmate told her that she was being prepared as an excuse for the professor, and she did not appear there, deciding to leave everything. I think the classmate didn't do it for good reasons, most likely, he was just jealous of her in his heart. Neila was lucky to have a friend who, despite working as a simple taxi driver, was a smart guy and managed to convince her not to. She quite peculiarly defended the professor, appearing arbitrarily at the commission, which considered the issue of his dismissal. The end is good – we see that Neyla became a lawyer and began to use all the tricks (and there were like 38) that the professor taught her and with which you can defeat an opponent.
Why is the professor himself so lonely? He himself said, “When we speak correctly, we often forget how to speak simply” and this makes it difficult for simple human communication.
