Left-wing propaganda The picture is a very selective idealistic biography of a certain Dick Chacey, who served as Vice President of the United States under George W. Bush. As a self-justification, even in the opening credit, the authors tell us that the character was secretive, so we managed to find little information about him. At another point, the fictional viewer inside the film jokingly reproaches the film with a one-sided sympathy for liberals. Nice one.
And yet, no matter how twisted, Power is an exclusively pro-government agitation filmed in the interests of the Democratic Party of the United States. For 3 hours, we've been shown Republicans from an exceptionally bad point of view. And even if the authors openly admit to such subjectivity, it does not disappear from this. Dick himself is a bull and a drunk in his youth, and an unprincipled bastard in maturity. His wife pushes them around because she craves power more than anything. The best friend is a scoundrel, the first Republican president is a villain, the next is an idiot.
In general, the only hope of the country is the magical and infallible Democrats, who, unfortunately, are practically absent from the film.
Serious and even dramatic tone in some scenes is replaced by clumsy satirical miniatures, which greatly spoil the impression of viewing. The scene with Margot Robbie in the bathtub from the movie "Game to Downgrade" came to mind immediately, where she explained derivatives. And there is a lot of this kringe here.
Christian Bale in the lead role unfortunately looks a little out of place. It is immediately obvious that he had to seriously recruit for the role, but still he is not a fat person. Throughout the film, I saw him as a makeup actor, and because of this, I can not call his role convincing.
