A good sequel as an illusion Sometimes a miracle happens, and the sequel turns out not worse, or even better than the original. But it's rare. More often, the sequel is an attempt by the studio to squeeze a little more money out of a successful film, removing an unnecessary and incompetent sequel.
The main feature of the first part was magic, which at first seemed to be magic, but then logically and realistically explained. It's not magic, it's just clowning. The great magician did not bother to check the equipment before the trick, although his life depended on it, the hero reaches the heights of mastery in three minutes, although he did not do magic before, simple tricks are explained, and in the most idiotic way, while really interesting cases are simply ignored. There are a lot of mugs, which the writers will call tricks, but two scenes deserve a separate mention and even a separate small top.
The second place in the list of the most annoying type of tricks is the scene with the abduction of a chip glued to a playing card. This scene would be tense if it weren't so stupid. The fact that the chip is heavy, stiff, and with it the map will not be so easy to fly - trifles, because the guards for 10 minutes do not notice the card flying between them. They don’t even see it when they look at it. In addition, the scene itself is unreasonably stretched, and the creators have not decided whether it will be tense or comedic, and added to it both. Neither of them worked.
The first place in the list of the most annoying type of tricks is hypnosis. This is a kind of “god from the machine”, which appears at any time the writers need and covers for failures in the plot. Why is the hero acting like an idiot? Hypnosis! What if there's a hole in the script? Hypnosis! Would you rather do some cool logical trick? Nope! Hypnosis solves all problems! Hypnosis is everywhere, almost everyone can hypnotize everyone in just three seconds. This is stupid, it infuriates and with its main task - to hide the holes of the plot - can not cope.
The plot is a collection of the most beaten stamps. From the “new guy in the team” with typical conflicts to the “genius” villain who tells the character his plan before killing him in the most unreliable way. Between themselves, the stamps are glued very crookedly, so that the absence of any logic does not hide even the wand of screenwriters - hypnosis. Why a rather dynamic plot after half an hour prompts you to wipe the table, go to eat, remove a hair from the screen and try to tie a knot on it.
In general, a useless sequel, significantly inferior to the magnificent first film.
