However, she later moved to Yale Drama School, after which she received a Master of Fine Arts degree. Latan improved her acting skills on the stage of New York, and in 1996 moved to Los Angeles, where she soon noticed her theatrical work and was invited to television. After roles in a number of TV series and films, the actress made her debut in the “big movie” with the film “Drive” (1996). This was followed by notable roles in Life (1999), Deaf Quarter (1999) and especially Blade (1998). Fame Latan brought the romantic comedy "Love and basketball" (2000), thanks to which the actress managed to prove herself in the world of show business. Her theatrical work, like this role, was awarded the NAACP award, and soon a new success of the actress brought several diverse film projects: she played the main role in the detective “The Vanishing” (2000) on the best-selling Terry McMillan, performed one of the leading roles in the thriller Carl Franklin “Out of Time” (2003) and appeared in the fantastic hybrid “Alien vs. Predator” (2004).
